Oracle Forms System Variable

Has anybody ever come across a system variable called TAB_PAGE_CHANGE_METHOD? What values can this variable take and how can i set it?

Namely, when GO_BLOCK(BLOCK_NAME) EXECUTE QUERY finishes, is there a way directly get the number of the records?
SYSTEM.COURSOR_RECORD = 1 tells this is the first record
SYSTEM.LAST_RECORD = 'TRUE' tells this is the last record

  • Setting system variables for Oracle Forms at runtime

    Hi,
I've read somewhere that a user can set some Oracle Forms system variables
    like SYSTEM.MESSAGE_LEVEL, SYSTEM.DATE_THRESHOLD, SYSTEM.EFFECTIVE_DATE, SYSTEM.SUPPRESS_WORKING
    at runtime.
    Does anyone know how?
I want to use the same fmx file with various settings, so do not want to
hard code any values for these variables.
    TIA,
    Sam

    Frequently I modidied
    :system.message_level := 0 let's say.
For other system variables I cannot help you.

  • Oracle Forms equivalent operations in Oracle ADF

I need to know whether there are equivalent operations in ADF corresponding to these operations in Oracle Forms
    System.Current_block
    System.Current_record
    System.Current_form
    etc...

As a mechanism to working out how ADF works, a suggested read is the Fusion Dev Guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E16162_01/web.1112/e16182/toc.htm
Once you've done this, as extension the dev guide has appendixes "F - ADF Equivalents of Common Oracle Forms Triggers" & "G Performing Common Oracle Forms Tasks in Oracle ADF" for assisting Forms programmers in moving to ADF, a feature/mind map as you will.
However as Vinod says, don't make the mistake of thinking ADF is similar to Forms in its implementation. While Forms and ADF attempt to achieve similar results (ie. applications querying data from a db and showing to the user to view or edit), they do it in totally different technologies.

  • How to monitor Oracle Form applications ?

    Hello,
I need to monitor our oracle form system, I was asked to try to emulate the user activity.
    1. Retrieve the app login
    2. Log into the application.
    3. perform a task
    4. Log out
    5. Measure response time.
Is there anyway to do this ? Any third party tools to recommend ?
    Thanks.

Based on the steps (1 to 5) you have mentioned for your Emulation, If it is possbile for the development team try to play with your own small design of the Monitor or Emulator in the same Oracle Forms
    1. Create new Database tables to Store Login (username,password,logon_Data_time,logout_Date_time etc) and Transaction timing information (Trans_ID,Trans_Description,Trans_start_date_time, trans_end_data_time, no_of_rows_processed etc)
    2. Use the PRE-LOGON,ON-LOGON, OR POST-LOGON trigger to catch Logon information (User, Time etc). Save the details in Table above.
    3. Use a WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE Trigger to call aprocedure that does your required transaction (Update, Delete, Insert), calculations, manipulations etc.
4.Log the before and after timing of the above transaction. E.g Within the above call PRE and POST Transaction Triggers to record timeings. Save the details in the tables above. make use of Timers etc
    5. Use the PRE-LOGOUT,ON-LOGOUT or POST-LOGOUT tigger to catch the entire timing before logout.
    6. Create Another form screen that queries the entries in your tables above.
    7. After the logout, call the screen, logon and display the details from the tables (all automated as well). Play with different display techniques in Forms and Reportds(interactive tabular displays, Graphs, report output to Excel, PDF etc).
In the above scenario, you may have to somehow hardcode the logon process (username and password) in order not to waste the time in typing it.
This will take you less time than waiting for approval and shopping for 3rd Monitor Tools.

  • Global Variable in Oracle Forms 6i

    Hi,
How & where to define global variable in Oracle form 6i and also let me know how to access it.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Sanket

    hi
Global variable are forms specifice variable.
it can store character value upto 255 for all usages.
We can initialize it when we declare otherwise give error if we did not assign it any value.
Oracle 10g it can take upto 4000 bytes
    GLOBAL.ur_globalvar := TO_CHAR(15);
    or
    :GLOBAL.ur_globalvar:= '15';
    or
Remmber numeric values are implicitly converted by oracle 2 character
    :GLOBAL.ur_globalvar:= 15;
-- which can then subsequently be accessed using...
    :GLOBAL.ur_globalvar;
-- To destroy a global variable and release its memory, use the ERASE built-in procedure:

    Oracle environment variables
The following environment variables are valid for Oracle::
    ORACLE_HOME
    ORACLE_BASE (optional)
    ORA_NLS (optional)
    NLS_LANG (optional)
    TNS_ADMIN (optional)

ORACLE_SID is the name of the database instance that you are using.
T2KDEV is set to the type of terminal you are using; sun if you are using openwindows; xsun if you are using X windows.
TERM is set to the type of terminal you are using. Note: If you are using openwindows, you may have to redefine the variable TERM to sun (instead of cmd-sun) and you should execute ORACLE from a shelltool.
TWO_TASK is set to the location where ORACLE server can be found and will normally be the name of the database instance. This variable helps simplify the command line for starting ORACLE tools.

As all these are vvariables can a system-variable passed here
    ---if not why?

    Hi,
Why do you need to pass the system variable to the form at the first place ? It would not be a good programming practice to pass a system variable to the form.
    Hope this helps..

  • Avoiding system messages in oracle forms.

    Hi All,
I'm Working with Oracle forms using oracle form builder in R12. I want to Avoid System message (Save message) so i'm using :system.message_level := 5; but i can't avoid Save message. how can i solve this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Macks

You could override on-message trigger and forms will fire this trigger instead of standard message. Whatever you write here will happen. You could suppress given message and let everything else go.

  • System error in program CL_RSR_REQUEST and Form TEXT_ELEMENTS_GET:Variabl

Does anyone have any ideas or experiences for resolving "System error in program CL_RSR_REQUEST and Form TEXT_ELEMENTS_GET:Variabl"
    Your input is appreciated

    hi Arun,
sap oss note 858458 may relevant for you, take a look, may need support package.
    Symptom
When you execute a query for which the user does not have authorization, a system error occurs: CL_RSR_REQUEST; Form TEXT_ELEMENTS_GET:VARIABLE.
    Reason and Prerequisites
This is caused by a program error.
    Solution
    BW 3.0B
Import Support Package 28 for 3.0B (BW3.0B Patch28 or SAPKW30B28) into your BW system. The Support Package is available when Note 0783170 "SAPBWNews BW3.0B Support Package 28", which describes this Support Package in more detail, is released for customers.
    BW 3.10 Content
Import Support Package 22 for 3.10 (BW3.10 Patch22 or SAPKW31022) into your BW system. The Support Package is available when Note 0783252 "SAPBWNews BW3.1 Content Support Package 22", which describes this Support Package in more detail, is released for customers.

  • How to access environment variables from Oracle Forms

    Hi,
Any idea how to use the Environment variables from Oracle Forms.
My basic problem is that from Oracle form I am calling Batch file which calls excel file with a macro.
So i want to check whether the macro was successful or not.
So in my batch file i will set %errorlevel% which I should be able to read from Oracle Forms.
I am able to read the registry from oracle forms, so is there anyway to read environment variable as well?
    Thanks!

    Hi
I have a problem with java and Jinitiator and my understanding of what is / should be happening.
In the file forms/server/formsweb.cfg see below. I can alter the parameter
    baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm
    ###baseHTMLjinitiator=basejpi.htm
between the two alternatives. As it stands as shown the IE8 on the middle tier and on the database PC both work as near correctly as i can tell. On the Win 7 client IE 8 however crashes. switch it to the other way around and the
win 7 works and the win xp on the database server stops with frm-92095 error version number too low. while on the middle tier Xp PC a blank doucument is displayed.
How can i have both working at the same time please. I you need more information i will happily supply it.

You have a mixture of problems here.
    1. Oracle Jinitiator is not supported for use on Windows 7
    2. JRE 1.7 is not supported for use with any version of Forms on any platform. Be sure you do not have this version installed.
    3. JRE 1.6 is not supported for use with Forms 10.1.2.0.2, however is supported with 10.1.2.3 (10.1.2.0.2 + patch ID 5983622) and only with IE 8
    4. In order to use Win 7 with Forms 10 in a certified and supported manner, you must use 10.1.2.3 (meaning 10.1.2.0.2 + patch ID 5983622).
In short, my recommendation would be the following:
o Patch to 10.1.2.3 (assuming you have access to MyOracleSupport)
o Don't bother trying to use Oracle Jinitiator as it is old and has been desupported for a long time.
o Uninstall any instances of Jinitiator as it can cause conflicts with other JRE installations.
o Uninstall all instances of JRE 1.7. Reconfig your formsweb.cfg to use the JRE (Java Plugin) 1.6.0

    # formsweb.cfg defines parameter values used by the FormsServlet (frmservlet)
    # This section defines the Default settings. Any of them may be overridden in the
    # following Named Configuration sections. If they are not overridden, then the
    # values here will be used.
    # The default settings comprise two types of parameters: System parameters,
    # which cannot be overridden in the URL, and User Parameters, which can.
    # Parameters which are not marked as System parameters are User parameters.
    # SYSTEM PARAMETERS
    # These have fixed names and give information required by the Forms
    # Servlet in order to function. They cannot be specified in the URL query
    # string. But they can be overridden in a named configuration (see below).
    # Some parameters specify file names: if the full path is not given,
    # they are assumed to be in the same directory as this file. If a path
    # is given, then it should be a physical path, not a URL.
    # USER PARAMETERS
    # These match variables (e.g. %form%) in the baseHTML file. Their values
    # may be overridden by specifying them in the URL query string
    # (e.g. "http://myhost.mydomain.com/forms/frmservlet?form=myform&width=700")
    # or by overriding them in a specific, named configuration (see below)
