Oracle Forums - Apex 4.0

Hi Guys,
I have had a search around and can't find anything specific to help but I am wanting to do the following:
We currently have a number of Oracle Forms and users are database users with set roles. We want to migrate to Apex but over a period of time so is it possible to do the following...
Use the same username/password that is authorised in Forms, open up an apex page and be authorised in that?
I appreciate any help :)

APEX can use database user accounts for authentication. However, it does NOT really respect or use the database roles that Forms will use and respect... You need to re-think how you do this from Forms to APEX..

Oracle Forums - Apex free Forums on Source Forge?

Can someone from Oracle confirm this question?
I had heard or read somewhere that Oracle was going to be releasing their Forum application to the public?
This way everyone could use Oracle's forum tool for their own needs.
This would be one of the of the free applications that comes with the Apex tool as a Standard application.
Has anyone heard any stories like or similar to this?
The reason I'm asking, is if Oracle isn't going to do this, then I guess we should all try to help and contribute by copying some ideas of what already exists in existing Forum tools and add it into the Source Forge - Oracle Apex Forum tool.

Migrating Access DB to Oracle Hosted APEX environment

I was wondering if there was a way to migrate an Access DB to the Oracle Hosted APEX environment using the Oracle Migration Workbench? You have to specify the location of the DB and schema and I don't know this information since the DB location is on the Oracle Hosted site. I would like to evaluate the migration functionality of the APEX tool without having to download it locally along with Oracle 10G. Is there a way to do this using the Hosted website?

The quick answer to this is no.
However, there are some services (http://www.appshosting.com) which do offer that type of access at no charge.

I am migrating from Oracle 10g Apex 2.1 (demo) to Oracle 11g Enterprise full version:

The demo version Oracle 10g apex 2.1 which was utilizined has a proof of concept...has now been approved to move forward with Oracle 11g Enterprise full version
I was thinking: Do I export all the applications, tables,and data. Then un-install Oracle 10g and the install Oralce 11g. Then finaly, import the applications, tables,and data.
OR .... can in be migrated....????

It is possible to upgrade your 10gR2 database to 11g and have APEX upgraded to 3.0 at the same time.

Unzipping the file downloaded from Oracle forum

Dear All,
Hope im in the right discussion room.
I downloaded the Oracle 11g from Oracle Forum (special thanks to Oracle) but i also saw that it has a special unzipping software to unzip the downloaded files.
Can i use the WinZip to unzip or any other softwares to be used to unzip.
I am using Windows 7 ultimate.
Any help would he highly appreciated.

Migration to Oracle Forums

I've had to put all of Oracle on my SPAM list.Take a lesson from here when Sun messed up the forums - complain to the ISP provider rather than Oracle. That can lead to Oracle being marked as a spam source. And one might suppose that is something that they do not want to happen.

It is the first time I visit this forum.
I feel this forum is 90% like oracle's forum.
Is this forum is same developer between this and oracle's one?

If you are asking are the same people here? Yes, some of the same people are here, but I rather doubt 90 percent of the people here are also in the Oracle Forums.
If you are saying the forum formats look the same: yes, as already brought up, many of the forums look the same and may even use the same software.
If you are saying that the content of these forums and the Oracle forums are 90 percent the same, then I would totally disagree with you: almost all of these forums do not even mention Oracle and over on Oracle a vast majority of the forums do not mention Java.

Oracle Wiki vs Oracle Forums

I must admit I am still a little unclear as to:
- the purpose of the Oracle Wiki
- how it should be used
- how it relates to the Oracle Forums.
Currently, the Wiki seems like another version of Oracle Forums with a few additional bells and whistles. I am confused as to whether I should be using the Forums or the Wiki to raise my questions.
Can anyone explain this to me!?!

Thanks for the response. I've just checked out the FAQ and I think I get it.
I was misled by the threads on the wiki home page. These look like questions that are more suited for the forums.
From now on:
- I'll keep one eye on the forums for my questions and answers
- My other eye on the wiki for my collaborative content.
Lets hope I don't go cross-eyed ;-) (yes i know - very poor attempt at humour)

This should be possible with Oracle APEX. I wonder if somebody have some ideas of a quick and easy export to generate the XML accessors for the Oracle XE instead of a htp.p PL/SQL Procedure ???
The frontend with Flex will be the same, I just like to be able to automatically generate the XML version of the results, perhaps will be necesary some PL/SQL... applied to the end result of the query.

Oracle forum watch : please send mail with subject as the question

Hi Site Administrator,
The oracle forum send a mail if we are watching any topic. Earlier the subject was named as the question subject , which was very helpful.
Now we are gettting the mail with subject as the topic name ex java programming, new to java etc.
With the current form we have to see inside each mail to know what is the question asked. Earlier from the subject itself we were able to find what is/may be the question. Which has helped to easily and quickly scan through. So please change this new pattern to old pattern. Since that is the best practice.

Mails from Oracle Forum is flooding my mail box

Oracle Forum updation mails are flooding my mail box. kindly let me know how can I stop the mails from Oracle Forum from flooding my inbox.

Change your e-mail address. Like you I'm not interested in forum notifications via e-mail - I get a deluge of mails that are pretty meaningless.
So I changed my notification to weekly (to decrease the number of SMTP bounces on the OTN side) and added "+-no-spam-thanks+" to my e-mail address supplied to OTN for notification.
Works fine.. never had OTN complaining about it and have received private mails from OTN in the past (meaning that they did see and use this e-mail addy with suffix without problems).

Important: Oracle forum spamming email (2100 emails) - Need to stop it

Hi,
I have received 2050 emails from oracle forum since monday 11am.
And it's still going on right now, like 2/3 emails per minute (2112 now)!!
Can you please do something to stop this? Or maybe i have to do something on my profile?
