Oracle Hosted Instance of APEX is down Again.. :(

Just to let folks know, I was looking at a demo from one the APEX blogs, when I tried to run the demo app, the site was showing the Oracle Corp Website Unavailable message.
Can I offer a suggestion here.. The posted links that are on this web page are INTERNAL to Oracles servers, so they DON'T REALLY offer any help to people on the outside.. Could they either change the pages to NOT show the links or modify the links to show USEFUL information as to scheduled downtimes or current status?
Thank you,
Tony Miller

Correction, site is NOW back u p, but still would like the messages to be MORE useful...
Edited by: Tony Miller on Mar 23, 2009 8:58 AM

Was more asking about the page that is posted when the hosted site is down.. For people who are EXTERNAL to oracle's network, the links on it are useless.. Would be nice if they had some USEFUL information or links on it to show when planned outages are planned or even when they expect it up...
Just a thought..

    Hi Tony,
It appears to be Web server related. I can't even get to http://apex.oracle.com (a static file). I just filed a P1 ticket for our IT organization to take a look and fix it.
    Thanks for reporting this.

    Hi Tony,
It's been down all afternoon (London time) and seems to have crashed just as I was in the middle of setting up a demo page as well :(
I've just tried again, and it's still on its tea break

  • Migrating Access DB to Oracle Hosted APEX environment

I was wondering if there was a way to migrate an Access DB to the Oracle Hosted APEX environment using the Oracle Migration Workbench? You have to specify the location of the DB and schema and I don't know this information since the DB location is on the Oracle Hosted site. I would like to evaluate the migration functionality of the APEX tool without having to download it locally along with Oracle 10G. Is there a way to do this using the Hosted website?
    Thanks!

The quick answer to this is no.
However, there are some services (http://www.appshosting.com) which do offer that type of access at no charge.
    Thanks,

  • Multiple instances of APEX  on  Single Box

    Hi Everyone,
We are currently working on Oracle 1g APEX and looking for multiple APEX instances to be running on a single oracle server. Can it be possible? If it Is possible, then does it require any additional software installation or some kind of configuratin will be enough.
    If anybody knows, please help.
    regards,
    Anuradha

You can have only one version of APEX per Oracle Instances.
What we do is have one database instance per APEX versions and only one HTTP server config.
    Ex: SID : AX31 = APEX 3.1 and SID : AX32 = APEX 3.2
In the Dads.conf file , we setup a DAD for each like : /pls/AX31 and /pls/AX32

  • Email server down again - why locked?

Email service down again.... yes - it is 2012 and a company backed by ADOBE, charging a premium price for hosting is more unreliable that a couple of kids working out of their garage.
I'm disgusted. No one will give out the names of who is in charge of this sinking ship.
As a work around - set up a gmail account? You kidding me? And who pays for that? BC charges a premium for hosting - we should expect nothing but premium service - not substandard.
BC better be planning some sweet offer to customers to keep them. Mine have all threatened me and want to be MOVED NOW!!!!!   what BS.
BC - you locked this board? You cannot give us an answer, cannot tell us when it will be up, cannot tell us what happened - we are out here dealing with customers that are livid and you guys just lock the boards?
Please - refund my partner fee and I'm gone!!!!
Does anyone from ADOBE read these boards? I cannot imagine the whole place has not been cleaned out.
I'll be reading the uptime guarantee that should be buried in the agreements. Class action suit!!!
    Paul Messino

Paul, you don't need to set up a gmail account. Where ever you have purchased your domain name and have that hosted likely offers email hosting as well. You can use that.

You do not have to use BC email!

    Hi, humhum
I created my listener on 10g and it doesnt see the 8i instances. So, I added manually an entry in listener.ora for 8i instance.
    Have a look :

What I know is that CWMLITE is to do with OLAP. This tablespace is used to store OLAPSYS schema.
<<To my surprise, the file /u01/CADDB/data/cwmlite01.dbf is a data file of the tablespace CWMLITE from another Oracle DB instance named "CADDB">>
If the file doesn't belong to your database then it could be that you are using a wrong controlfile.

  • Windows system files deleted on oracle host

    hi experts,
i have an issue regarding oracle database on windows XP... one of my client is using oracle 9.0.1.0
he used it for 5 years having no problem at all, but couple of days before, he installed internet connection on the oracle host, and soon after he start using internet, some OS files get corrupted with virus. he scan the machine with anti virus software, but his luck was really very bad, while scanning power goes off and server faces abnormal shutdown.
after restarting server, he found that oracle is not getting open and some programs also fails to run. no error stack was generated though. i think some files which are corrupted with virus might got deleted with anti virus scan.
these files don't belongs to oracle but to operating system (system 32) folder.now, when we are trying to access oracle we have to navigate to $ORACLE_HOME/ora90/BIN directory even to obtain LSNRCTL prompt and to perform any activity.
when we try to connect to database as sysdba it says "ORA- 12203: TNS unable to connect destination".
i tried listener.ora,tnsmnames.ora file but they are ok. all the oracle directory structure is intact and ORACLE_HOME is set to c:\oracle\ora90\
i even tried to recreate instance and tried starting database, but no luck...services in control panel are started.
what else i should be looking for????? can anyone suggest some solutions???
    it will be really appreciable..
    thanks and regards
    VD

    Hello,
+1. first time "ORA-12203 unable to connect destination:"+
Make sure you have correct entries for Host in listener.ora and tnsnames.ora. What is your machine name? Post your tnsnames.ora and listener.ora entries.
    What does your alert.log says?
    +2. second time invalid username/password+
+3. another time after entering username it dosent ask for password and hangs.....for long+
    Did you try following command
    C:>sqlplus "/as sysdba' --> OS authenticaiton.
    {code}
listener is up and oracle service<sid> is also up...
+it is not allowing me to start DBCA either.....do i need to reinstall oracle software, create instance, with existing pfile?? can we specisy pfile=<path> in oradim command???+
h4. If you have choice of re-install and recreate instance,  then I think you should go with it as this way it will be faster to get going.
h4. But if you just want to install software then shutdown instance and listener and re-install same version and try it to bring it up.

  • Oracle to go with Apex

I understand that the hosted version of Apex is not for actual storing data - that, in order to actually use Apex and have my data stored safely, I also need to purchase oracle ....
but that's where I get confused since there are so many flavors of Oracle.
I want to build an application thru Apex, and have my co-workers at a remote location access the application
I've always heard that Oracle is dreadfully expensive, but I'm loving the Apex interface and feel like I can accomplish my goal because of it.
Can anyone please explain what version of Oracle I would need to accomplish this?
    Thank you -
    Marion

You're right Oracle is not particularly cheap. If you are a small shop but still want to use Apex, you may want to go with a hosting company. Here is a list of some companies that provide hosting services - basically software as a service.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/apex_com_hosting.html
I'm not endorsing any of them - but it may be the most affordable option in the short-term.

  • The Oracle Host command locks up XP occasionally after returning from LabVIEW app.

    Here's the scenario:
The Oracle Host command calls a LabVIEW exe I created called LVSMS.exe. LVSMS than calls a Campbell Scientific app called SMS.exe that reads data from a storage device through the serial port COM1. SMS is closed by LabVIEW through the use of the SMS app pull down menu using keystrokes generated by LabVIEW keystroke commands. The data obtained by SMS initially gets stored to the local drive and is than copied to the network. LabVIEW than exits. Upon exiting LabVIEW and returning to Oracle control under the Oracle HOST command which is running in the background the whole time, WinXP will occasionally lock up.

Thanks. WinXP only locks up when returning from LabVIEW to Oracle. The app is running on 12 computers 2,000 miles away. I found out that 4 of the 12 have locked up. I'm still working on determining if the lock up happens on 4 specific computers or if it's random. It never locks up on my development machine which is supposed to be identical to the machines at the other facility. I've changed timing intervals between when the Campbell SMS.exe program closes and when the LabVIEW LVSMS.exe program closes, and changed the WinXP performance properties. We're evaluating the results now; the process is used only once every 4 hours, so evaluation is slow. The Oracle HOST command appears to be the culprit. Haven't tried it from Win2000, but my WinXP development system
    works flawless.
I'm hoping for information regarding the Oracle HOST command and WinXP. Posssibly what to tweak.
Shooting in the Dark! Thanks for your response!
