Oracle Hyperion EPM 11.1.2 Installation on Linux Server Issue

Hi All,
We were downloaded and extracted all zip files (placed in opt/hyperion) from edelivery.oracle.com on LINUX 64 - Server. Before start the installation created new user and assigned to particular group. We are unable to point out the new location for installation, and tried in both GUI and silent installation. In GUI mode the "Browse" option is not highlighted for selecting a new location. It is giving default location eg: some other directory opt/epm.
After finally we found some one already installed EPM 11.1.2 partially in some other directory. But Users are different and Groups (the both users) are same for this installation.
The following error occurred "An existing Middle ware location has been detected .The default location is /opt/epm ".Even we are not able to change the location.
My issue is why it is pointing to older location after deleting all related hyperion folders in /opt/epm.But Seems OraInventory folder files and some files pointing to older location.(We haven't clean that folders). Can i delete those folders as well?
Any inputs would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance

  • Unattended  Solaris 10 installation with jumpstart server issue

    Hello,
I have setup a jumpstart server and am finding it difficult to get a fully unattended solaris 10 sparc 10/09 install on a t1000 client. The console connection to the client goes into interactive mode at the point in system identification when the installer asks if the system is networked or non-networked, and runs a setup of default time zone and date/time. Using esc-2 to advance through the interactive menu it asks if ithe system is on a subnet, for the netmask (which is there as default), asks if the current time is correct, then asks me to confirm that my selections are correct. When I confirm it goes on it's merry way to finish the installation unattended.
My guess is it does not like one of the values in the sysidcfg file being used, but can't seem to see where the problem is. I don't see anything in the table of sysidcfg keywords from the online docs that specify networked or not, and I am using the network_interface keyword to define hostname, ip, default router, netmask and ipv6, and thought that should take care of the networking portion of system identification, also have timezone and time server set.
Could it be that I am configuring an ethernet port that is not connected (bge0)? This computer will be deployed on a DMZ type network, and the jumpstart server is located on a different network our internal private network. The jumpstart installation via the server is done by using a temporary ethernet connection on a second interface of the client. One other note the defined time server is on the dmz so the installation program won't see it.
Any suggestions on what might be causing the interactive installer to kick in?
Here is the sysidcfg used for the client:

update. Fixed the problem with date/time by using abrante's suggestion of setting the time server to localhost. Don't get prompted for date/time information in the interactive installer any more.
If I setup the sysidcfg file to configure the ethernet port being used to communicate with the jumpstart server (bge1), using an ip and netmask that is on the jumpstart server network, the installation goes through fully un-attended.
Is there any way to get a second interface (in this case bge0) configured with ip/netmask values that are not part of the jumpstart server's network, using a non interactive jumpstart installation? Using these values in sysidcfg, the only things prompted for during the installation are, Is the system on a subnet, and what is the netmask. Anyone know what the sysidcfg part of the installation does to check the validity of a netmask value given in the sysidcfg file on the jumpstart server?
If need be, I guess the interface could be configured in the finish script.

  • Hyperion Interactive Reporting Web Client Installation in Linux.

    Hi everybody,
Is there any official documentation of how to install Hyperion Interactive Reporting WEB Client in Linux environments ?
I checked Oracle Documentation and I found information about the HIR Desktop Client. But not about the web client.
Note: I need official documentation because of a discussion with security admins.
    Any Help ?
    Regards,
    Gustavo.

The information required to automate (silent) the Insight/Plugin Installation is as follows:
Before going for the Silent Installation of 11.1.1.3 IR Web Client, we need create a Response File and moved the response file to Installer location to automate the Install.
Please follow the below procedure to accomplish the same:
    1. Record a response file use the command "setup /ieinstall -r" (or "setup /ff install -r" if you use Firefox).
    2. The above command will then create a setup.iss file in the <C:\Windows> directory.
    3. Then move that <C:\Windows\Setup.iss> file to the Insight folder, so to resides with the setup.exe.
    4. Then to launch the silent installation, use the command "setup /ieinstall -s" and it will use the options you choose when creating the response file.
    5. You can create a batch file with the command line script as mentioned in Step 4 and keep in the same folder. So that the end user can use the same to automate the install.

  • How can I validate OBIEE installation on Linux server?

I am at a new site where I am trying to validate an OBIEE 10.1.3.3 (Linux) installation done by a third party (which has left without providing even a hint of any documentation).
In the linux box, I can see all the files installed and the proper directories created. Can you please tell me how to verify if the installation is indeed proper? For example, I would like to log on to the OBIEE portal to see if I can log in and create an Answer (I assume the paint.rpd will be the default repository). Can you tell me what are the default port numbers? e.g what would this URL be http://hostname:port/analytics
    where hostname = oracletest.myclient.com.
    Thanks a lot!
    KMora

If you go to the OracleBI/setup directory there are a number of scripts you can use to stop and start services:
    ./run-sa.sh start
    ./run-sa.sh stop
Will stop and start the BI Server (log file OracleBI/server/Log/NQServer.log)
    ./run-saw.sh start
    ./run-saw.sh stop
Will stop and start the Presentation Sever (log directory OracleBIData/web/log/)
The port for the URL will depend on whether the default OC4J server was used, or an existing one, as the previous post says 9704 is the port for the default, the port for an existing one could be anything, try 7777. The OC4J server will also have to be running - this be be done with the ./oc4j -start command for the default one, and probably using opmnctl for an existing one.
If you find the Configuration and Installation Guide all the port numbers are listed there.

  • Hyperion EPM 11.1.2 Planning Configuration Issue

    Hello,
I am experiencing a bit of a problem when attempting to configure Hyperion EPM 11.1.2.
    Envrionment: Windows Server 2003 R2 64-bit, Oracle 11g
Issue: Configuration abruptly fails during after the configure database screen for additional EPM products. Upon further digging I found the following error message:
log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly.*
    Exception in thread "Thread-26" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: D:\oracle\Middl*
    ware\EPMSystem11R1\common\config\11.1.2.0\NativeCall.dll: Can't load AMD 64-bit .dll on a IA 32-bit platform*
I am pretty much at a loss at this moment. I downloaded the 64-bit zip files from edelivery and the install appeared to run successfully. I have tried the big bang approach to configuring and the modular approach, but can't seem to move past this. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Corey

Hi Corey, that error it is shown because java is trying to open a 32bit .dll file using a 64 bits library.
to resolve this issue you have to navigate to HYPERIONHOME\common\config
modify the bat file setJavaRunTime.bat and comment the 64 bits java options like this:
    REM Get JRE or JDK
REM if exist "%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JRE-AMD64\Sun\1.5.0" goto okSetJREAMD64_150
REM if exist "%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JRE-IA64\Sun\1.5.0" goto okSetJRE64_150
REM if exist "%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JDK-IA64\Sun\1.4.2" goto okSetJDK64_142

    if exist "%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JDK\Sun\1.4.2" goto okSetJDK142
    if exist "%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JRE\Sun\1.4.2" goto okSetJRE142
then run the config utility again it will works. regards

  • Hyperion EPM Architech-Process Manager will not Start

    Hello-
On April 1st we had some issues with a re-deployment of an application and Oracle Support told us to change Deployment_Pending_Timeout config from 8 hours to 4 min. Then we tried to restart the Hyperion EPM Architech-Process Manager task on the server and it would not restart. Below are the error message we recieved in Event Viewer. We worked with Oracle Support all last week and they finally suggested we install Patch 9535372 to fix out issue. So we installed patch and it did NOT fix our issue.

    Hi,
Something appearently went wrong in EPMA database and unfortunately this is not something extraordinarily unusual in EPMA world. If you have a reliable backup dated just before 1st of April, I would advise to restore it back. Otherwise, you have to dive into the dark tunnels of EPMA tables which I would not recommend quiet highly.

  • Oralce EPM Fails to install Weblogic on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64

I've run the installer on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 and it fails to install Weblogic. I don't have MIDDLEWARE_HOME/oracle_common. Config tool log says missing jars. When I go back to install and choose products individually, Weblogic Server is gray. When I click on Weblogic Server, the message at the bottom says can not be installed.
I have checked that I have extracted the following assemblies:
Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installer, Fusion Edition Release 11.1.2.0.0
Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Foundation Services Release 11.1.2.0.0 - Parts 1 - 4
Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Additional Content Release 11.1.2.0.0
I have run this same set of files on another server and Weblogic was installed. Am I missing something?

I am not sure if it is your problem but I don't think R2 is officially supported, I did have problems with it when I first installed 11.1.2 so I installed with R1 SP2.
    Cheers

  • Reconfiguring Hyperion after DB move from Solaris to Linux

Our Hyperion Databases are moving from Solaris to Linux. We need to reconfigure Hyperion EPM to point to the new Linux DB. We have 4 Hyperion servers A,B, C, D.
Server A : Foundation Services, Workspace ,Reporting & Analysis, Planning, Calc Manager, Shared Services, EAS, APS.
Server B : EPMA, Essbase studio
    Server C: ODI, FDM
    Server D: Essbase
We are planning to do the below steps :
    1) Stop all Hyperion services .
    2) Stop databases on Solaris servers.
    2) Configure Foundation first on foundation services server ( server A) , using EPM system configurator.
    3) Configure Foundation on the other 3 servers( B, C,D) which are having EPMA, FDM, Essbase etc.
    4) Foundation- Deployment to applicaiton server in foundation services server ( Server A).
    5) Configure/deploy DB for rest of the products.
We tried to do similar steps last time. We were able to do foundation but for other products it failed. Please let us know if these steps are correct?
We are on Hyperion 11.1.2.2.300 version. O/S is Windows 2008 64 bit.

You should just need to follow the documentation:
Changing the Shared Services and Registry Database Connection Information and Password
Changing EPM System Product Repository Database Connection Information and Passwords
If there are problems following those steps then post the errors from the logs.
    Cheers

  • Hyperion EPM: Will Oracle Express suffice for Shared Services and Registry?

    Hi.
I'm trying to install Hyperion EPM on Linux to make use of the Hyperion Interactive Reporting server components to allow report scheduling, web delivery of reports, etc. My data sources will all be MySQL. I'm at the point where I'm attempting to use the EPM Configurator for setting up Shared Services and Registry Database Connection. It seems my options for choosing a database on which to allow Shared Services and Registry data to reside are limited to 3: Oracle, SQL Server or DB2 (noticeably absent is MySQL)
So, it looks like I'm going to have to install an Oracle DB instance at the very least.
    My question is this:
Can I get away with just installing Oracle Express for the Shared Services and Registry or will I have to install a full blown Oracle DB instance?
    Thanks
    -- Tom

Hi, I confirm that you can use Oracle Express for Shared services and registry. We have installed the complete EPM platform on a single virtual machine using Oracle Express. It’s interesting to use it because Oracle Express use less resource. We can run this virtual machine on a computer that only have 4GB of RAM and get good performance (for a single user).
I recommend using it for proof-of-concept and Bootcamps.
