Oracle installation on AIX with existing instances

Hi,
I would like to know if there is a procedure document which can explain the installation of Oracle 9.2 on AIX platform of a host, where there are 3 instances of DB already existing.
Do I need to run 'rootpre.sh' before I execute runinstaller?
What precautions that I need to take care? I am worries if I do any new environment variables setup that may disturb the existing instances of SAP R/3/oracle.
Thanks,
Ramesh.

see also this SAP note beside the SAP note  98252.
21960 - Several instances/systems on one UNIX computer
You need to execute rootpre.sh once per host.

  • 817 Install onto AIX with existing 920 home - some issues

    AIX 5.3 64 bit
I already have 920 installed in an OracleHome as part of Apps 11i.
I am attempting to install 817 into a new home on the same server. When I get to my list of products it says OUI is already installed and is at version 2.2.x.x (it is already installed, but in the 9i home), therefore it will not let me select OUI 1.7.x.x as an installable product.
I want to install 817 with it's own version of OUI so to keep the 817 install completely seperate from the 9i Apps 11i install. Anyone know anyway around this problem ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ,
Does oracle 8i client supports for AIX 5.3 ? Because i want to install Oracle 8i client on AIX 5.3 as root, but i cant even after running the pre-installation.

  • Rac installation on AIX with physical disks.

we have aix 6.1 server (2 lpar/vio) and I am planning to install oracle RAC 11GR2.  We do not have storage so need to use available physical disks.
Is it possible to create RAC with phisical disks.  We do not have Aix administrator so please Guide me by step by step commands.
    We need RAC with ASM.

  • BO4 Installation on AIX with DB2

    Hello,
I hope this is the correct forum in which to pose such a question.
We are currently planning an installation of BO4 on AIX and our standard choice of database platform is DB2 UDB V9.7. I have analysed the numerous SAP planning and installation guides for BO4 but am unclear as to what file systems the installation will demand for the DB2 system. For a traditional SAP AS ABAP/Java installation we would be creating /db2/<SID>/sapdata1-4 but there appears to be no such requirement in BO4.
Is there anyone out there who has performed this kind of installation or who has any useful information? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gary

    Hello,
just create a simple Schema in the Tablespace on any DB2 Database in your organisation you wish. Grant the user full access right to only this schema and your done. Prior for installing BI4 install the DB2 Client on the AIX Host where BI4 gets installed and configure it to access the newly created schema.
Also check SAP Note - 1384629

  • Upgrading OA 11i from OA 10.7 with Multi-Instances Schemas

From an ORACLE Applications 10.7 with Multi-Instances Schemas (Mutiple Set Of Books Architecture : Schemas : APPS, APPS2, APPS3, PO, PO2, PO3, AP, AP2, AP3, AR, AR2, AR3,...), we want to upgrade toward an 11.5.1.
At the begin of the Step of AutoUpgrade, we have an error :
"Not able to process an MSOBA, you must pass in the Multi-Org Architecture."
Could you give me some informations about the way to resolve this problem :
    * Do we must install and initialize the multi-Org in the 10.7 environment ?
    * Can we process this point during the step of upgrading and how ?
    * Do we have a bypass to this problem ?
Think you for your help !

Below are the points which I read for r11i migration.
    a) MSOBA clients should migrate/convert to multi-org before migrating to 11i.
    b) Autograde will fail, if it detects MSOBA.
    c) Attachments and Workflow will not work in MSOBA.

slibclean is very AIX specific, non-direct related to Oracle software.
Common error of the AIX beginners.
But as far as I remember, when you launch the installer, a message must advise you to run this command, and you should confirm (press 'enter' key) once it's done.
the reason i missed out step in the README.txt Common errors of beginners ;-) Even if you think you are experienced guy, you should read the doc as well, just to be sure do not forget any steps.
Case sensitive... one of the most common error of the Unix beginners.
Moreover ,take care do not start one instance in upper, one other in lower case.
One more thing : don't take it wrong, but if you have no specific question and want to share your experience, you should blog instead of post in the forum.

  • Oracle 9i installation on AIX 5L -  fileset required not found in OS

In the latest release notes for installation of Oracle 9i on AIX 5L (dated August 2002), it is stated in the systems requirements that
in addition to bos.perf.libperfstat, the following filesets are also required:
    bos.adt.base, bos.adt.libm and bos.adt.perfstat.
All except bos.adt.perfstat were found. IBM support states that there is no such fileset.
We're having linking errors and we think that it is due to this missing fileset.
Anyone know where we can find this fileset since it is not on the AIX 5L OS CD?
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks

When I installed the first time, it didn't find perfstat either. It is located in /usr/lib/perf . It is part of bos.perf.
Did you also have a problem with the -lm on the ld commands? I cant find a m.a or m.so anywhere on my system and if I remove that library from the command, I end up missing things.
