Oracle installed under which operating system user?

How can I know, under whıch operating system user does the oracle installed?
Oracle 10gXE and windowsxp

You can find it ..following the next steps:
1) Control Panel
2) Administrative Tools
3) Computer management
4) Click on 'groups' sub-folder of the 'Local users and groups' folder
5) on the right pane .. search for the 'ora_dba' group... This group is automatically created by Oracle and puts in the O/S user you have logged on the system at the time of the db installation....
6) Dbl-click on this group to find out the O/S username....
I'm not sure for the above steps if you have installed OracleXE...
Greetings...

  • File Permissions on Oracle Directories for other Operating System Users

    Hi,
I am trying to export the table data to flat file using a pl/sql function using UTL_FILE package and directories created using 'CREATE DIRECTORY' command. The function is called from a stored procedure which in-turn is called from a Java program using JDBC and the Java process runs as different operating system user. The problem for me is the file exported is being written as 'ORACLE' user with 'OINSTALL' group and '-rw-r--r--' linux file permissions. When I try to read this exported file from the java program it throws me a file access error.
I would like to know if we can specify any additional parameters either in
    1) Database parameter file
    2) UTIL_FILE.FOPEN function
    3) CREATE DIRECTORY command
so that the files written to the DIRECTORY have a read write access.

Since you attempting to read the file from Java, you are constrained by the OS.
Write a stored proc to read the file, since PL/SQL does have the correct permissions to read/write to files.

  • Which Operating system most company use to run oracle?

Which Operating system most company use to run oracle?
    thanks

If you are trying to decide on a platform, I would recommend that you look at Swingbench and run your own benchmarks on various platforms using vendor "try and buy" options. Sun is great for allowing a 90 day "try and buy" where you could try a wide range of platforms and I am guessing other vendors would do the same. Using Swingbench I recently found that an older Sun X6220 (blade server) was for 50 Swingbench users faster than a T6340, T2000, M5000 and older V890. Single threaded SQL was especially slow on the SPARC/T while the M5000 was comparable to the X6220 (again for 50 users). This is significant because the M5000 is much more expensive than the X6220 (a blade server).
For a small number of users, say 50 users and under, I like Solaris/x86 unless there will be lots of IO which is where SPARC and the M series scales up very well. 50+ users hammering on a DB, Solaris/SPARC is my first choice. If you are just getting started and are not in love with any platform, check out Oracle Unbreakable Linux.

  • Install Error (Operating System User Error)

    Hello,
I am having a problem installing Oracle 9ias application server. I installed it once and then thought I messed the install up because I couldn't log on to the application manager. Anyway I deinstalled it using the product installer software they supply and then I rebooted and now I continue to get the following error. I am the only user who has ever tried to install the software.
All Oracle 9iAS installations on a host must be installed by the same operating system user. The initial Oracle 9iAS installation located at C:\ora9ias was installed by a different operating system user. Please exit the install, log in as the user who installed the inital Oracle 9iAS installation and restart the install.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
you must drop manually the references in regedit to old iAs orcle home. Then you must drop the key 'em_loc' in regedit located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>ORACLE if this key is pointing to Oracle 9iAS home.
I have done this and I've installed my ias instance right in W2K.

    Hi

How to avoid this required oracle user?

  • How to add operation system user in atable

oracle 10g and Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.4
i wouil like to add operation system user name in a oracle table so that i can monitor data in the particular table

    Your question is unclear.
Check also v$session dynamic performance view may be you can get information from this view which you can pull into your custom table.
And your query is about finding who is connected then,
To know about the list of users that is now connected and the time when they connect to database issue the following query.
    SQL> SELECT s.username, s.program, s.logon_time
    FROM v$session s, v$process p, sys.v_$sess_io si
    WHERE s.paddr = p.addr(+)
    AND si.sid(+) = s.sid
    AND s.type = 'USER';
    USERNAME PROGRAM LOGON_TIM
    SAMI sqlplus@testerp (TNS V1-V3) 26-NOV-10
    oracle@testerp (J000) 26-NOV-10
To know only the current session user name you can issue the following query,
    SQL> SELECT USERNAME from v$session where audsid = sys_context('userenv','sessionid');
    USERNAME
    SAMI
To know about on which schema you are connecting issue following query.
    SQL> SELECT sys_context('USERENV', 'CURRENT_SCHEMA') FROM dual;
    SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV','CURRENT_SCHEMA')
    SAMI
To know about the connected user user for the current session issue,
    SQL> SELECT sys_context('USERENV', 'SESSION_USER') FROM dual;
    SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV','SESSION_USER')
    SAMI
If you use SQL*plus then simply issue,
    SQL> SHOW USER;
    USER is "SAMI"

  • Install a swedish operating system on my blackberry 8900 curve

I just bought a blackberry 8900 curve in India. I'm moving back to Sweden in a couple of weeks.
I have two questions; Does the blackberry 8900 curve support the swedish letters Å, Ä and Ö? Or is it possible to install a swedish operating system on the phone?

Virtualbox is one of the simpler programs to do so, plus it only costs the Windows license.  Same with Apple's Boot Camp, but it requires using the special Boot Camp partition creator which could result in data loss if you aren't careful.  See my user tip on the many various options available.

I just installed the Lion operating system, basically to upgrade my iPhone. I didn't realize that my Microsoft Office 2004 application would no longer work. I have been using Word for my writing and I receive most of my emails with Word attachments. I have been using Apple products for years, always touting their reliability and customer service. I am not a techie, I just want to be able to do what I do on the computer and Apple always fulfilled my needs. Now I am told because of some operating system gobbledygook, I have to go out and purchase new software to use Word. This is despicable. I see no particular benefit to using Lion, but I do see a lot of detriments. Apple now seems to have turned into Microsoft, making software obsolete so they can make more money and to **** with the customer. You can be sure that my next computer will be a PC. I have completely lost confidence in Apple.

I seem to never tire of saying this. It was for Apple when they first announced 10.7 to disclose this. Yes, it was widely reported -- or rather, rumored -- but not by Apple. And many people who have gotten caught by this assumed that Apple itself would have told them beforehand about the loss of this very important feature which they had come to rely on. As far as I know, not even in fine print, does this appear anywhere on the Lion announcement or any of its links.
I am not saying Apple had to continue Rosetta in Lion, or forever, just that if it was going to be dropped, it should have been made known.
As relative "insiders" we should not forget that many people don't have the time, habit or interest to do this kind of research. I think it is a breach of trust that Apple has never directly made this announcement or given people the opportunity to decide beforehand if giving up their PPC apps for a new OS is a worthwhile tradeoff.

  • Which operating system: Linux or Windows Server 2003?

    Hi,
it doesn't matter which operating system we install an our server.
What are your experience with Linux and Windows?
Which System do you recommend regarding performance issues?
    best regards
    Felix

Linux has a higher per process memory limit. The fmscore process can use up to 2 GB on Windows and up to 3 GB on Linux.
The performance increases in Flash Media Server 3.5 are roughly equivalent on Linux and Windows.

I have been trying to install window 7 operating system through booth camp assistant, i will finish all the stages for window to complete installation it will hook. the installation cannot be able to complete and i really install windows on it, please i need an assistance on how to go about it.

Right now I have 6 different systems installed. Windows XP, 7, and 8 plus Linux Mint, Commodore, and OS X Snow Leopard (for old times sake), all running on Mountain Lion.
I recommend reading the user manual as it greatly helps getting through the steps, however an intuitive person should pick it up fairly easily.
Thanks to BobTheFisherman for the link.
There are other ways to get Windows on a Mac but I'm a big fan of open-source software.
Give it a try. You might like it or it may not be your cup of tea.

how do i update my mac software and how do I know which operating system I am on

    1. Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu to check the installed version.
    2. Incremental updates are available in the Software Update pane of System Preferences or the Mac App Store's Updates tab. The source for full version upgrades varies; 10.6 through 10.8 are in the online Apple Store, and 10.9 is in the Mac App Store.

  • Help - which operating system do I have?

Can anyone help me to find out which operating system I have on my mac. When I click on "About this Mac" I can find that it is a 10.3.9 power pc G5 etc, but I cannot find out when I am panther, tiger, leopard?!!!!!!!!! I have forgotten what I have and can't find anywhere on my mac that tells me - I know it's stupid, but I blame having a baby and having a cotton wool head!!!!

    Hello again Helen,
    You're more than welcome!
Yes, it's very odd that when you select About This Mac that you will only see the version # and not the name of the cat. I could be wrong but I don't believe that the name is mentioned anywhere in your install.....though I certainly could be mistaken.
And all the best to you this holiday season!

I want to install a third operating system on my macbook pro. I already have windows and i want install unix or linux in there. Is it possible??

Yes, it's possible, but if your Windows system is on a Boot Camp partition then you have to first remove it. Then create however many partitions you want for the operating systems. You have OS X on one, so you need two more - one for Windows and one for Linux. You then install Windows and Linux separately to their respective partitions. Download rEFIt
Use it as the replacement bootloader so you can properly boot from each OS properly.
