  • Deploying Forms with Forms6i/Oracle Internet Application Server 8i - need help!

    Hi Gurus!
I am trying to setup the Oracle Internet Application Server 8i (Release 1.0)and deploy the forms to the web. The server is on Solaris. I have installed and configured the application server. I used the 'runform.htm'and 'test.fmx' to test the installation of the application server on the Server machine. In that case it works fine and shows the message 'Application Server is up and running'. Where as if I tried to access the same 'runform.htm'and 'test.fmx' from another client machines through a web browser it is not executing the 'test.fmx' and throws the following error:
" FRM-92060:Failed to connect to the Server. Bad machine specification:'hostname':9001"
    Details...
oracle.forms.engine.RunformException:FRM-92060: Failed to connect to the Server.
I am using the default port#9001 to run the Forms server (i tried using another port and i got the same error). The web server is listnening on the port 7777.
I am not sure what needs to be fixed. Can someone please through some light on this?
    Thanks!

The Oracle 8i jvm component (formerly known as JSERVER) was designed to support server side java.
This component was initially developed and included in the Oracle 8i rdbms 8.1.5.
Enhancements continued to be implemented with the 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 releases
IAS uses the same oracle 8i JVM from the rdbms to support java code on the middle tier.
Here's how the IAS version and the RDBMS version match up on the Oracle 8i jvm's features.
    RDBMS 8.1.6 with IAS 1.0.0 (unix) / 1.0.1(NT)
RDBMS 8.1.7 with IAS 1.0.2 (new name IAS 9i)
    8.1.6 / IAS 1.0.0 / IAS 1.0.1 supports :
session EJB's(1.0 spec), corba objects and java stored procedures
    8.1.7 / IAS 1.0.2 (aka IAS 9i) supports :
The 8.1.7 implementation will support the 8.1.6 features listed above plus the ejb 1.1 spec (entity ejb's -- see below), servlets and java server pages.
note : in another thread Mr. Devin clarified the current status of the EJB 1.1 spec (entity beans)in the 8.1.7 solaris release and the future win nt release.
If I remember correctly, Mr. Devin reported a last minute issue has delayed the support for the entity bean feature but ejb spec 1.0 / 1.1 session beans are in place.
When the entity bean issue is resolved, a software patch needed to support the entity bean feature will be provided in a rdbms patch.

  • JSP compliance of Oracle 9i App Server

Can anyone tell me what version of JSP is implemented by Oracle 9i App Server? Is it 1.1 or 1.2?

It's in-between. Fully 1.1 compliant with some features from 1.2 from before the finalization of the specification.

  • Deploying Petstore on Oracle 9i App server

    Hi all
I am trying to deploy the petstore application on Oracle 9i App server. I am using the "dcmctl" utility to start my HTTP server.
Everytime I run the "dcmctl" tool I get a different message(something like ADMN-906025, ADMN-100003) on Standard output.
This is the exception I am getting in /<Oracle_Home>/dcm/logs/dcmctl_logs/log.xml
    "Remote Execute Exception 806212
    oracle.ias.sysmgmt.exception.ProcessMgmtException: OPMN operation failure"
I would be really grateful if you could identify and probably even help me solve the problem.
Also, I need to know whether "oidctl", "server.xml" and "web.xml" need to be updated and how.

  • Startup and Shutdown classes in OC4J (Oracle 9i App Server)

    Hi,
We are in the process of porting our application from Weblogic 6 to Oracle 9i app server. We have a requirement for developing startup and shutdown classes. These need to be instantiated from Java code (and not through console).
If anyone knows how this can be achieved or have any documentation on the same, please reply back to .
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Moin

The oc4j commands in the documentation for shutting down the server are:
    STARTUP
    java -jar orion.jar -install
    SHUTDOWN
    java -jar admin.jar ormi://localhost/ <admin> <admin-password>
Can you just access these classes directly?

    Thanks again !!!
Yes, My Oracle HTTP Server is listening on port 80.
I am not clear, may i know why should the ports be changed for the request to go through Web Cache ???
Can i assign port 80 for Web Cache and 7778 for HTTP Server ?
Also In Oracle Enterprise Manager, Web Cache is not available...
home, HTTP Server, management alll these are there...
Also for HTTP Server, it's not showing any metric info, 'Not Yet Available' is shown even though the HTTP Server is running, how can i get metric info about Oracle HTTP Server, i have also used dmstool -t ohs_server, its not working
It's showing... FLEXMON ERROR : detected invalid table name ohs_server
    dmstool -l -t also does'nt lists ohs_server

  • Issue with lock file in Oracle 10g app server - MDB not running

    Hi,
I have Oracle 10g & MQ 6 on my laptop. I generated JNDI bindings for app server-MQ by giving ip address of my machine first. Then i changed it to "localhost" & generated new set of .bindings file.
With this new set i am able to send messages from my program to a queue. I also have an MDB which should listen to the same queue.
However now my mdb is not listening to the queue & i suspect it is due to host address change, - because each time i start the server, i see a lock file created "OracleASRouter_store.lock" - under j2ee\home\persistance. And below is the content of the same -
    "O10.1.4.245:/C:/Program Files/Oracle/oc4j_extended_101330/j2ee/home/persistence/"
As per few suggestions on this site, I deleted this file & restated app server, deleted whole content of persistance folder, restarted app server. But each time i see this file created and also see the ip address in log.xml under j2ee\home\log\oc4j
Error message in this log.xml file is

Line # 127 is creating a new application object using ApplicationFactory.
    ApplicationFactory aFactory =
    (ApplicationFactory) FactoryFinder.getFactory(
    FactoryFinder.APPLICATION_FACTORY);
    application = aFactory.getApplication();
The only way that can throw a null pointer is when aFactory is NULL. I really doubt this case because, the same thing is doen in init() of FacesServlet. If it had failed there, the exception should have occured during server startup.
This leaves me more and more confused....I am desperate for some help now :((

    Murali,
Great suggestion. I found that after adding a host one has to run AutoConfig on Database Server and bounce the TNS Listener. I will read manuals to find out how to do that, but it will be great if someone can point me to where I can find that information quickly. Better still, if someone has instructions on how to do both, that will save a lot of time.
    Thank you.

  • Oracle Web App Server performance problems

I am evaluating Oracle Web Application Server 3.0 and while
everything seems to work ok, the performance is noticeably
slower than Oracle Web Server 1.0 or 2.0. I have narrowed the
problem down to the access/execution time to a database
package. In other words, the PL/SQL code I have built does not
contain any Oracle SQL statements. The package simply builds a
small web page. If I had to guess, I would say it appears to be
related to either a log-in to Oracle (which does not take that
long in a ProC program) or excessive child process creation
overhead (other programs like Apache handle this just fine). I
created the package in the www_user account, set a virtual path
of /test/owa/ to access it and while the page displays
correctly, it takes about 12 to 13 seconds to do so.
I'm running Linux on a Dell 400 MHz Pentium II with 1 Gb of
ram. I have tried changing the cartridge configuration so that
it starts with 2 processes instead of the default 0. This
helped some after the first execution of the package (response
time went from 12 seconds down to about 7). I am running it
without security on the virtual path (I thought maybe that was
slowing things down). I tried setting the user sessions to true
(default was false) and setting a timeout of 1200. None of
these things helped (nor did they make it any worse).
On an old HP system (much slower SQLPlus response time than this
Dell system), web pages fly at a pretty good speed using PL/SQL
and version 2 of the web server. Except for the actual database
query time to perform SQL queries, pages display in subsecond
    time frames; not 12 seconds.
Please give me some idea how to improve the performance.
Obviously, something is different with 3.0 than the older wrb
    and server.
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Deinstalling the Software
How to Deinstall All Oracle Software
    1. If you have already installed Oracle software, use Oracle Database Configuration Assistant to delete all current instances. Make sure that the necessary services are started in Control Panel Services before doing this.
    2. Stop all Oracle-related services in the Services control panel.
    3. Deinstall all Oracle products, using the appropriate installers.
    4. Delete all Oracle software directories, including the inventory files in the C:\PROGRAM FILES\ORACLE directory.
    How to Uninstall Additional Software
    1. Deinstall the following additional software:
    JDeveloper
    Apache
    JDK
    2. In addition, delete your SCTW directory if you have already taken any of the courses in this series.
    Checking the Registry
    How to Check Registry Entries
    1. Select Start > Run, enter REGEDIT, and click OK.
    2. At the Windows NT Registry Editor, expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE registry item.
    3. Delete the ORACLE key.
    4. Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\
    CurrentControlSet\Services registry item.
    5. Delete all keys that begin with ORACLE.
    6. Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\
    CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\
    Application registry item.
    7. Delete all keys that begin with ORACLE.
    8. Repeat steps 5 through 8 for any other ControlSet references in your register that contain ORACLE keys.
    Checking Environment Variables
    How to Check Environment Variables
    1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel and double-click System.

    How to Check Virtual Memory
    1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel and double-click System.
    2. Click the Performance tab and then click the Change button to open the Virtual Memory window.
    3. You need approximately 512 MB of total memory (256 MB of RAM and 256 MB of virtual memory). However, if you have enough disk space, set virtual memory to 500 MB. Click the Set button. Then click OK.
    Reconfiguring TCP/IP Services
    How to Reconfigure TCP/IP Services
You must also make sure that the networking structure is set up correctly for installation off the network. If you are using DHCP to provide you with an IP address, you need to set up a static IP address for this example.
    1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Network.
    3. Click the Protocols tab.
    4. Select TCP/IP Protocol and then click the Properties button.
    5. Select Specify an IP address.
    6. Enter a valid IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway. If you do not have an IP address, enter a dummy value. Click OK twice.
Note: the Enterprise Manager OMS and Agent do not support DHCP so you need to have a static IP address to use this capability.
    Setting the HTML File Type
How to Set the HTML File Type for Netscape
You need to change your HTML settings for the JDeveloper exercise later in the course.
    1. Open Windows NT Explorer.
    2. Select View > Options.
    3. Click the File Types tab.
    4. Select Netscape Hypertext Document and click Edit.
    5. Select the Edit action and click Edit.
    6. Clear the Use DDE check box and click OK.
    7. Click Close twice.
    Other Cleanup Tasks
    1. You also need to set up your environment so that the local host name can be resolved without the need to look up DNS. To do this, edit the C:\WINNT\System32\Drivers\Etc\Hosts file. Add the IP address and fully qualified host name for your computer after the localhost line currently in the file. Save your work and close the file.
    2. If you have taken a previous version of this class before, you must remove your NTOEM user from User Manager.
    3. Reboot your machine.

Just wanted to offer some further tidbits...
Came in ealry this monring, turned server on and kapow all clients unable to access internet. Checked server DNS settings as server can access the internet. Double checked clients DNS and all are the same.
So, turned DNS server off/on and then splatted the dns records. Restarted server with DNS off and still the same thing.
Staff started to arrive so had to cut it short but it seems very odd that until the upgrade all was well.
    Cheers,
    Stu
