With the release of Oracle JDeveloper Release 9i which is written in 100% pure java, do you think that the Mac OS X will
be a supported platform as well ?
I have been wondering the same, and I sure hope Oracle
will support Mac OS X. I have tried out other tools written in
Pure Java (Ant, Tomcat, jBoss) and they run just fine on Mac
OS X so I don't see why JDeveloper for Oracle9i wouldn't!
I'm just now downloading the Linux version to see if it will
install and run uon Mac OS X . I'll post my findings to the
forums.

    Hi,
don't know there is a certification for this platform. "Generic" however is the installer option for this platform. It requires you to have a certified Java SDK installed. JDeveloper runs on top of a JDK

Which one of it was oracle.jdeveloper.jsp.wb.PoolAdministrator no longer available. I thought i might have been deprecated, but there's no document found regarding this.
    Anyone know about this ?
    cheers,

What release of JDeveloper are you using where you have a oracle.jdeveloper.jsp.wb.PoolAdministrator class?
I checked the earliest build on my machine (9.0.3.4) and don't find it in there.

    Hi,
That is definitely a product manager - positioning question (forum ID: oalonso), so I'd recommend that you ask the same question in the SES forum. The Text team has been monitoring that forum and answering most of the posts there, so you'd probably be more likely to get your question answered.

  • Oracle JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2) has been certified ?

In this Oracle JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2) have many bug fix.
Is Oracle JHeadstart 10g Release 9.0.5.1 has been certified with the Oracle JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2) ?

To summarize the position of JHeadstart for ADF (JHeadstart 10.1):
Almost a year ago, we already announced the JHeadstart for ADF release, explaining how you can ensure that the migration will go as smooth as possible. See the forum thread at its Jheadstart like ADF? .
This information was also included in the JHeadstart Frequently Asked Questions (see questions 15 and 15a) at http://www.oracle.com/technology/consulting/9iservices/jhs_faq_ext905.htm .
    Quote from the JHeadstart FAQ:
If you already use JHeadstart we recommend you to upgrade to the new version of JHeadstart (9.0.5.1) do the following to make the migration from this JHeadstart release to the JHeadstart-ADF release as smooth as possible:
    [ul][li]
    * generate as much as possible of your application using the JAG. The metadata structure will stay the same, but the generator output will be fairly different.
    [li][li]
    * put all your business logic in BC4J app modules or ViewObjects. Do not put a lot of code in handler business methods, but have the handler business methods delegate to the corrsponding AM or VO. The reason for this is that the handlers will go away in ADF, ADF allows you to drag and drop your (client exported) AM/VO methods directly onto your page or Struts action.
    [li][ul]
If you have not used JHeadstart before you can either start using ADF or JHeadstart and make the switch to ADF when JHeadstart-ADF release comes out like described above. In all circumstances it is a good choice to familiarize yourself with ADF. Good knowledge of this framework is required when you use the JHeadstart-ADF release.
JHeadstart is the only tool that offers you migration of your existing application structure and data operations to the ADF Model (Data Controls and Data Bindings).
Furthermore, the new JHeadstart 10.1.0 release (compatible with JDeveloper 10.1.2.0.0) will be able to generate more features than the previous release JHeadstart 9.0.5, which means that you will need less post-generation changes.
    kind regards,
    Sandra Muller

I have tried this out in the EA release of JDev, and have reproduced the problem you reported. However, trying out the latest development build, the problem does not occur, so this bug has been fixed. You'll pick up this fix when we next release the software on OTN.

  • Oracle 9i Release 2 on RedHat 8.0

I have installed Oracle 9i Release 2 on RedHat 8.0 and works perfectly.
You need to follow all the kernel settings as they are stated in the install pdf and
also take a look at www.puschitz.com . The install will stop with an error while comipling but if you follow the instructions at www.puschitz.com everything will work OK. Select create database later, just get the sofware compiled and installed.

I recently read that Mandrake ran some benchmark far faster than Suse ..
Red Hat's announcement of new release coming next spring/summer include
acknowledgement of some architectural problems that'll be fixed ..
Perhaps Mandrake got it right the first time.
Installed OK on RH 7.3 and Mandrake 9.0 (only modified the shmmax parameter).
Some problems in RH 8.0 (runInstaller exited unexpectedly halfway thru the initial configuration phase, then the make failed and I had to use the trick suggested in the excellent online article mentioned by other posts).
Interestingly, at the "46% Database creation phase", I had to wait a very, very long time while installing in RH 8.0, but in Mandrake 9.0 the datadabse creation progressed nicely, without long waits.
Since the installation was on my home machine (AMD XP 1800, 512 Mb DDRAM), I had the luxury of changing the OS (from RH 8.0 to Mandrake 9.0). I know that most people regard Mandrake as a newbie, only-for-home-use Linux, but I found it stable and reliable. Along with Oracle 9i (9.2.0), I also run JDeveloper 9.03, IBM DB2 7.1 and IBM MQ Series. And everything works fine. I might be a bit out of line here, but I believe that RH 8.0 does have some issues (I found some on my own, hence the decision to switch to another flavour, plus check out some Linux forums for a long and growing list of problems). Perhaps sticking with 7.3 for the time being wouldn't be such a bad idea...

  • Bc4j-oc4j and Jdeveloper Release Candidate

I developed a bc4j application with Jdeveloper Release Candidate. In another pc I installed 9ias and bc4j-oc4j server. Then I deployed my application using .ear file. I get an error when I try to run the application through the as. Here is the error:
    oracle.jsp.parse.JspParseException: Line # 18,
Error: releasemode is not a property of oracle.jbo.html.jsp.datatags.ApplicationModuleTag
I think it is not true that releasemode is not a property of ApplicationModule tag. Can anyone help me?
    thanks

Hi, first of all thanks for your interest and sorry for my English.
Actually I have tried some different combinations.
First of all I downloaded 9ias v1.0.2.2 core form web-site. In it oc4j comes with version 1.0.2.2.1. I installed it and could not even get that error message. Then I installed bc4j runtime installer over it. Then I got that error message.(That message is just an example. I think not all of the necessary classes with correct versions are contained in the container.). Then I tried to use the oc4j that is embeded in the jdeveloper release candidate. I copied the directory and put to the proper place in the application server. It did not even start. Finally I downloaded 9ias Release2-j2eedeveloper's preview. It brougth me a version 9.0.2.0A. I was wery hopeful with it but it did not work either.
I only want to deploy and use my jsp files that I created by jdeveloper release candidate. I need correct versions of application server and container I think.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Oracle JDeveloper 11g Handbook A Guide to Oracle Fusion Web Dev. (Tutorial)

I am using Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 2(11.1.2.1.0) with the above mentioned book. In the tutorial on page 639 of chapter 18 the instruction #11 says "... Select the searchEmployees-flow under the Web Content \ Page Flows node in the Application Navigator. Drag it onto the second facet of the af:panelSplitter that you had previously add to that page, and select *Region* from the context menu. ..." When I follow these instructions I get the following error:
Cannot create a region from a task flow containing facelets fragments in a jspx page.
I am quite frankly stuck and cannot proceed with the tutorial unless I can get past this error.
Also, is it just me or is this text woefully out of date with the latest version of JDevelolper?
    Thanks

jsf is the new extension that is using facelets as the underlying engine in JSF 2.0.
That's what we recommend going forward.
jspx is what was used in JSF 1.2 in JDeveloper 11.1.1.*
We don't have a wizard that migrates jspx to jsf - so you can either create the new page from scratch or try and do some playing around with the header of the file to match the new format.

expectation is this month or early next year. The version of JDeveloper is 10.1.3.2. Maybe if you ask this question on the portal forum they have a more precise date
