  • DFS Error 9061 (Replicated folder offline for too long) won't go away

We have a server that got disconnected from a DFS replication group for too long. The error says to remove the server from the group and re-add it. I've done that about 6 times and I keep getting the error. I even tried deleting the replicated folder on
the server so it would copy from other servers but the error just won't go away. How can I get rid of it and get the folder replicating again?

  • IPhone 3 screen active for too long

Hi I have an iPhone 3 and have a problem, if I am out and use the phone the screen remains active for too long, leaving me standing there with phone in hand waiting for the screen to become inactive before I dare put it back in my pocket (Because otherwise the stupid thing does things like ring numbers in my numbers directory or activates an app in my pocket)...
I am sure there must be something that we can do apart from stand around like an idiot with phone in hand before the **** active screen deactivates...

I need it to go to sleep sooner than the 1 minute default to avoid accidental dialing when putting it back in my pocket.  There does not seem to be a way to set it to 30 seconds , or is there?

  • My Iphone 3g will not unlock if its been locked for too long

just as the title says and all these issues too....
Whenever my phone is locked for too long it will not respond to any button presses. the only way i can get it out of that is if i hard reboot it but happens again afterwards. the only way to keep it from not acting like that is to keep it plugged in constantly.  also if i try to shut it off normally it will power on by itself right after its shut off.  ive tried to do a full restore in recovery mode and that didnt even solve the problem.  any ideas?

Anyone? C'mom, I know some of you techie type folks know how to fix this!

  • Our TC has been a door-stop for too-long ...

Our TC has been a door-stop for too-long ... so I was thinking of blowing the dust off it & giving it another go ... the .n wireless would be very welcome, but will Time Machine work with it, and are the dreaded curtain & sparesbundle problems as thing of the past ??? I'm nervous - if it works, then great, but if those problems are still around ... nightmares

I not sure how I can properly answer your concerns with the Time Capsule (TC), but my suggestion is to give it another try. Make sure that you perform a "hard" reset to clear its current configuration and use the AirPort Utility to configure it as you see fit. I also recommend that, if not already, to update both the TC's firmware (7.3.2) and the AirPort Utility (5.3.2) to the latest versions.
I can't say that you (or others) didn't experience issues with the TC, but for the majority of folks it has worked "as advertised." I would suggest that you start with using Time Machine on just a single computer and let it run for a week or two to verify proper operation. Once satisfied, go ahead and add additional TM backups for your other computers.

You can't. Either get your phone fixed at a third-party repair shop, or go to an Apple store & they will replace your phone for US $199.

Do you mean you have a Macbook Pro (laptop) versus a Mac Pro (desktop)?
You can back up the MBP, restart using Command+R to boot into the Mavericks Recovery HD, erase the Mactintosh HD and Reinstall OS X. Then you can go through setup and configure it with your information and Apple ID. Mavericks should not prompt you for an Apple ID when it goes through the install since that OS is free.
One thing you might want to consider is asking the previous owner to unregister the MBP from his Apple ID if he previously registered it. Then you can register it under your Apple ID.
The previous owner should have wiped it clean and reinstalled the OS that came pre-installed before selling it.

    Hi ,
I am getting this error , the database is in no archive mode and there is frequent log switch.

One way is to make the size of the redo logs bigger and another way is to do some less work :)
Changing Redo Log File SizesEach Redo Log File member in a Group must be identical in size. If you need to make your Redo Log Files larger, use the following steps.
    1. Use the V$LOG view to identify the current active Redo Log Group.
    SQL> SELECT group#, status FROM v$log;
    GROUP# STATUS
    1 INACTIVE
    2 INACTIVE
    3 CURRENT
    4 INACTIVE
    2. Drop one or more of the inactive Redo Log Groups keeping at least two current On-line Redo Log Groups.
    3. Use operating system commands to delete the files that stored the dropped Redo Log Files.
    4. Recreate the groups with larger file sizes. Continue this sequence until all groups have been resized.

  • Will the MBP speakers blow if I play it on max. volume for too long?

Will the MBP speakers blow if I play it on max. volume for too long?

Depends what you call too long. Leave any electronics running too long it will eventually break. Might take years, but no mechanical system is immortal. No computer has yet been built around superconductors either, so heat alone would cause circuitry to fail if it is always powered. While leaving on the machine all the time (except for bad weather) is a good idea since Mac OS X is able to do that, individual components I would not always leave in use. Use your energy wisely. Not to mention max volume for too long could theoretically make you deaf if you listen to it all the time.
    Use common sense.

  • Can you charge the battery for too long?

I know that with cell phones if you leave the charger in for too long the battery starts to lose life. Is it the same way with the macbook or did the engineers work out a way that you can keep the charger connected for as long as you want and it won't drain battery life?
I'd like to charge the battery whenever I go to sleep but I'm afraid that it will have charged too much by the time I wake up. I learned that the hard way with my cell phone, which seems to lose power much quicker than it used to.

    Hi,
since Apple recommends to never remove the battery while running the MacBook on AC-power, it is the logical conclusion.

    http://www.gplivna.eu/papers/v$session_longops.htm
There is a dynamic performance view v$session_longops that is populated for many long running operations in Oracle. The primary criterion for any operation to appear in v$session_longops is to run more than 6 seconds. Although this isn’t the only criterion as well as not all operations that take more than 6 seconds are shown in this view. For example one can find hash joins in v$session_longops, but you won’t find there nested loop joins even if they are longer than 6 seconds and are joining very big data sets.

  • Why does Firefox close after being opened for too long with no activity?

I need to leave an image loop playing on my computer continuously but the internet browser seems to time out after being opened for more than 14 hours. Is there a way to keep my internet browser opened with out activity for as long as I choose?

This is not a cure but will make it easier if Firefox locks up.

From what I have been reading from other posts on this forum, the
issue may be caused by the clear history settings. It was suppose
to have been fixed in v30.
Press the '''Alt''' or '''F10''' key to bring up the tool bar.
    Followed by;
    Windows; '''Tools > Options'''
    Linux; '''Edit > Preferences'''
    Mac; ''application name'' '''> Preferences'''
    Then '''Privacy'''.
The button next to '''History''', select '''Use Custom Settings'''.
At the bottom of the page, turn on '''Clear History When Firefox Closes.'''
At the far right, press the '''Settings''' button. Turn on ONLY '''Cache''' and
'''Form And Search History''' leaving the others off.

  • Palm Zire 31 sat idle for too long and then my hard drive crashed - I have recovered my palmOne files from the hard drive but don't know how to install to desktop?

Since this product is no longer supported by the manufacturer, I hope that someone out there will be able to help me find a way to get my calendar and contacts restored to the desktop.  My handheld sat unused for a very long time, but my desktop calendar and contacts were current up until my hard drive crashed.  I was able to recover the PalmOne files from the crashed hard drive but all I can see are *.dat files.  When I try to import or restore, the *.dat is not a supported file extension.  HELP!  I have the original installation CD. Thank you

.dat are the actual working files Palm Desktop is looking for - you can't import them.
Just create a user in Palm Desktop and copy the .dat files (that have more than 1k of data) over the existing address.dat and datebook.dat (or calendar.dat, I forget which existed on your device).

  • Concerned about rendering/exporting for too long - how bad is it for Macbook Pro?

If it's even bad at all...
I know these machines are made to take some strain, but I always get a little panicky when I need to export big jobs.
I'm currently busy exporting Quicktimes (not self-contained) of a project in which I had to key out backgrounds for what will eventually end up as a DVD. Thing is, I'm working in ProRes 422 (HQ) and the DVD's over an hour long in the end...
And I still have to grade later on, which means another render cycle, and after that, send to DVD, which means yet ANOTHER render cycle...
So I'm hoping those out there can help me put my mind at ease.
    My Macbook:
    Model Name:          MacBook Pro
    Model Identifier:          MacBookPro5,3
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed:          2,8 GHz
    Number Of Processors:          1
    Total Number Of Cores:          2
    L2 Cache:          6 MB
    Memory:          4 GB
    Bus Speed:          1,07 GHz
CPU's currently running at 203 Fahrenheit (95 Celsius) and the fans are pumping at aroun 5500RPM. I imagine the machine will carry on like this for at least another 8 hours, if not 10 or more...
Can I rest easy or should I tell these inconsiderate, uninformed and ungrateful clients (who have no understanding of what postproduction ACTUALLY entails) to buzz off?
    Thanks!

Haha thanks, but believe me - I've reached my threshold.
I've hardly ever burnt bridges, and in this case the client is a photographer with a bunch of DSLRs who decided he's gonna do a multicam shoot and transcode everything to ProRes422. Which is all good, except the final DVD is arond 1.5 hours, and he wants the backgrounds replaced. So instead of shooting with a green screen, he just shot against his infinity curve - which ended up being a TOTAL nightmare for me because there is so much white in his shots that I just couldn't fathom why he wouldn't shoot green? On top of this, he brought me all the footage on a friggin' USB drive, and then expected me to copy it onto my drives. I informed him that I didn't have 500 odd gigs free and that he'd have to provide a faster drive. He did so, but the result is that the first day of post was spent copying files to the new drive.
On top of this, I decided to take on this job because a friend of mine couldn't do it, and I thought I'd help out - he gave me the impression that it would be a very easy 5 day job. If only - this friend drew up the initial quote, but he didn't take rendering or exporting time into consideration, and also didn't quote for an on-set post supervisor. The result is that he under quoted, and I'm fighting against time to get through cos I need to carry on with another job tomorrow. And the client hasn't even done a proper approval, provided me with music needed for the project, etc. etc.
****, I'm so over people who just don't understand or respect post. Anyway, excuse me for venting, I really needed to do that.
So you reckon the laptop will handle it? Any other thoughts out there?
