Oracle License Manager

Hi,
as far as i know, once you license the product, we can not roll back that ( Unlicense that) during installation phase or after installation, if you did it.
so, if dba mistakenly licensed one product, which is not in the license agreement and it gone live.
I know, if you dont have licesense for that product, and even if you are not using that product, it will become issue with support agreement right with oracle???
so what to do in this case???? what is the best procedure to remove the license for that product after gone live 4 months or what ever it may be, instead of contacting oracle support???

Hi,

so what to do in this case???? what is the best procedure to remove the license for that product after gone live 4 months or what ever it may be, instead of contacting oracle support???The only supported way is to restore from a backup (if possible) to the point before this module was licensed OR install the application again and reimplement (do not get shocked, I know this is not a feasible solution but this is what available for now).
You may contact Oracle support and see if they can help, but as mentioned before, I believe there is no way to achieve this other than the above.

Hussein

  • Oracle license audit

    Hello Oracle experts,
I am trying to perform an audit on an environment with many Oracle server installations in different regions, I am trying to find the best way to identify the following details for each installation:
Total Processors, RAC, Partitioning, Tuning Pack, Diagnostic Pack, Change Management Pack, Configuration management Pack, Provisioning for database Pack, Service level managment Pack, Database Vault, System Monitoring for non-oracle middleware, System monitoring for non-oracle database, BEA weblogic.
What should be my best approach and if there are any open source/free tools that you have used for similar purposes, or what V$ views would you use to obtain all of the above information.
    Sincerely, thank you,
    -Ar

    Hi Ar
Some of the answers provided are useful but you will be open to enormous risks if you rely on things like:
Querying Oracle for Proc Counts - very often wrong, e.g. Oracle and Windows "think" my laptop has two procs, but it's Hyperthreading, both are fooled!!!
    V$Options - Often wrong
    V$dba_feature_usage_statistics - Often wrong
I'm sure you'll have pre 10g (you mentioned auditing usage across multiple regions??)
Grid Control just doesn't cut it
Plus, anything with agents involved will miss lots - you can be sure agents aren't deployed everywhere
Apps Server & BEA, completely separate way to go about getting info on these..
Now for the good news, I'm with a company who specialize in IT Audit & Inventory including Oracle. We've essentially automated the whole process to provide a single click view of your Oracle (& BEA etc.) deployment, including all the complex interpretation of things like ACTUAL Partitioned Tables and if it means a lic is required etc, packs installed but not agreed etc. etc.
One client has a rolling IT Audit across just under 10,000 Servers on a weekly basis including Oracle inventory. This all runs from a single Servers using agentless scanning.
More bad news it's not free ;(
We're called iQuate, take a look at iqute.com/oracle - doing this stuff for 8 years, with some former Oracle folks joining and giving us a focus on the Oracle space about 2 years back..
We make the whole Oracle License Management process easy. if you were to face an Oracle License Audit or if Oracle License Management Services were to request your usage declaration at any time, it's literally a click of a button and you'll have a declaration report in the format Oracle uses.
    Hope to hear from you.

    Hi,
From OAM, go to License Manager Home > License Products, and select:
    Order Management
    Supply Chain Intelligence
    Advanced Pricing
You could log a SR and confirm this with Oracle support.

  • Separate License for Oracle Wallet Manager

    Hi,
From our application we have been making webservice calls using utl_http. In the past this has been via http but we now have a requirement to make a webservice call using https. This requires the use of Oracle Wallet Manager. Is a separate License required to be purchased to use the Oracle Wallet, or is it part of the Oracle database license? We have an internal check going on now with various people, but I just thought I'd ask the question here as well.
Database version: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi

Oracle Wallets can be deployed on clients, middle tiers, and database servers FREE of charge. However, the following features that use an Oracle Wallet in turn require licensing of the Oracle Advanced Security Option:
    - PKI credentials
    - Transparent Data Encryption.
Please check following MOS for more details.

    Dear Avi Miller,
I have successfully installed both of servers (VM Server 3.0.2 & VM Manager 3.0.2) as below
+ VM Server 3.0.2 on Dell PowerEdge 1950
+ VM Manager 3.0.2 in OEL 6.1 on Sun Fire X4100M2 Server
Refer to Oracle VM Server 3.0 Document, they recommend to do Discover Oracle VM Servers to VM Manager first of all step then do anything else like Creating a Server Pool so I try to do Discover Oracle VM Servers in many times but still not success.
What I try to do Discover Oracle Servers as below:
After I install both already I start to Discover Oracle VM quickly
    1. Log into Oracle VM Manager
    2. Select the Hardware view.
    3. Select Discover from the Actions menu. The Discover Servers dialog box is displayed.
    4. Enter information about the Oracle VM Server(s) to be discovered.
    5. Specify an IP Address (or rang): IP_of VM Server and Click Add
    6. Put password of VM Server Agent
    7. Click OK
Wait a minute the Status of VM Manager show fail and when I click Detail it show as below:

  • Oracle Content Management SDK

Let's see if we can get a thread going in regards to Oracle's << apparent >> intent to cease bundling iFS with the
Oracle 9i Database Server. In a statement shared with me just a little bit ago, Oracle states that licensing implications
for current database customers using what is to be called << in 9.0.3 >> the Oracle Content Management SDK is to be
    determined...
Bunk! Now that they have people roped in, they're going to break the API out, and license << big $$$$, no doubt >>
it separately! Go Micro$oft! errrr... oracle...

    Robert,
I would say that there are pro's and con's to both arguments. If you want to make use of iFS with ID, Web Cache etc then you're going to need a copy of 9iAS anyway and as iFS becomes more integrated with various applications then you can see where Oracle is coming from.
If you are a software house developing solutions based on iFS then this makes the licensing issue much cleaner and simpler for clients to understand (something which we have come up against as iFS is availabe in 9iDB and 9iAS). It also means that iFS should receive greater exposure within Oracle as the account managers are more likely to do something with it as it is a revenue generator.
Naturally the other side is if you are developing an application or just using iFS in house then having to purchase 9iAS can seem like unwanted overhead. I think over the coming months we are likely to see iFS more tightly integrated with iAS so eventually to make use of that additional functionality you will need a copy of iAS. I guess it depends what you are doing with it as the API is likely to be packaged in a similar way as other dev kits.

  • How to install Oracle Change Management Pack for 11g database.

    Hi,
I need to setup "Oracle Change Management Pack" for my oracle11g database. Can any body help to do the same. i am able to configure following.
    Oracle Configuration Management Pack
    Oracle Data Masking Pack
    Oracle Diagnostic Pack
    Oracle Tuning Pack
    using following URL
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/license.111/b28287/options.htm#CIHBGJCC but not able to install "Oracle Change Management Pack for 11g database". Can any body share any pointers if any...
    Regards
    DBA.

As far as I could understand, this is a part of Oracle EM/Grid installation:
The sections that follow describe the Oracle management packs. The management packs can be purchased only with Enterprise Edition. The features in these packs are accessible through Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control, Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control, and APIs provided with Oracle Database software.

Or is it necessary to purchase the full license to use it with EBS?You need a license for Oracle Access Manager. However, AccessGate is available at no charge to customers who have already licensed both Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Access Manager.

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control VS Grid Control

What is difference of Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control and Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control?
How I can install it manually?
    Thanks

What is difference of Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control and Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control?
How I can install it manually?Dbcontrol is for single database as Grid control is for multiple databases.Dbcontrol has limited features than Grid control that goes beyond database administration to monitor other targets that include Operating system and application servers, web application, High availability (data guard) configurations. Database control comes with oracle server license but Grid control is a separate product it required separate license. If you want to use basic features then you can turn off the licensed packs in Grid control and use free product.
    Install Grid Control as doc:http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/em.102/e10953/installing_em.htm
