Oracle has a trust relationship with its customers. You can download the full production ready version from http://otn.oracle.com and install it in compliance with the license. No key codes, pins, or other nonsense is required.
The number you may be asking about is a CSI number (Customer Service) that is required to access metalink and support services. For this you have two choices. You can go to http://store.oracle.com or, far better for everyone, you can contact your local Oracle sales rep. The rep can give you discounts ... the website can not.

    Zerandib,
    Please check this link
    Oracle License verstion; PIN number
and oracle install doesn't require any license# or part# or code# to unlock. What you have is licensing agreement with Oracle on some terms (best known to your licensing/purcharing/IT dept) how your company will be using Oracle? But if your intent is to learn and educate yourself, you can download and install oracle for free. Once again Oracle software doesn't require any license or code# to install but an agreement for its Usage.

  • Oracle licensing in Solaris zones

    Hi all,
I've read a few documents about Oracle licensing :
    http://www.sun.com/third-party/global/oracle/consolidation/Containers_Oracle_041305.pdf
    http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/partitioning.pdf
However, there's one thing not clear to me. In Solaris zones, you dedicate threads (usually referred to as 'CPU' on Solaris) to zones. Oracle licensing is always about the number of cores used by the partition, not the number of threads. How do you convert from threads to cores?
    I'll give an example:
A T2 system with 2 processors, 8 cores each, 8 threads each (128 threads in total). You create a resource pool with 2 CPUs (threads): 1 thread from one core, and 1 thread from another one (or they are assigned like that for you) and associate a zone that runs Oracle.
I can think of two ways of calculating the number of cores used:
    1) divide the number of dedicated threads by the number of threads per core: 2 / 8 = 0.25 (optionally round it up to 1) -- This is how IBM does its licensing.
    2) count the number of physical cores that are being used by the zone. In this case this is 2, as the threads are not running on the same core.
Can anyone help me figuring this out?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Mathieu

    Hi Dezutterm,
I'm not a sales guy, but from how I understand things... you've already figured it out yourself:

Can anyone help me figuring this out?Like you've seen, Oracle cares about how many cores are running Oracle software, not threads (from "Processor" definition here: http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/technology-price-list.pdf). If you have 2 cores running Oracle software, you take "2" and multiple by the Core Processor Licensing Factor for that model of CPU (http://www.oracle.com/corporate/contracts/library/processor-core-factor-table.pdf) which for a T2 is 0.25... meaning you need 2 x 0.25 = 0.5 processor licenses. If you would have used both threads from the same core, you would need 0.25.
If this isn't correct, somebody please let us know, thanks!

  • Oracle licensing

    Dear All
I am writing this query to take a dessition on the purchase of Oracle licenses for my company.
My company is planning to impliment Oracle E business ERP . The following are the detaild spec of my company's enviornment.
    Server
HP Proliant DL 380 G5 server
    core duo 2 GHz processor
    4 GB RAM
    C drive Mirrored
    D drive RAID5
In my company almost 50 users are expected to be use the erp software
We are planning to install Oracle Database and Application in the same server.
Our ERP implementing company is saying that they are using Oracle 10g DB (Std Edn)and 10 g Application (Enterprise Edn)
They send me a proposal for the licensing (Named User Licensing)
Here I am confused with this licensing structure
Can sombody guid me which kind of license i want to purchase
    Regards
    sumanlal

Here I am confused with this licensing structure.
    named user?You have two options:
    1) Named users plus --> If you can determine the number of users (or an average)
    2) Processor --> If you cannot determine the number of users
Is it the Oracle users which we are creating in Oracle?
(User name and password to log in to the ERP)Correct, total number of users defined in the system (not concurrent users).
I am afraid that if I created a user account under Oracle and the same person is leaving the company …. I cannot use that license anymore? Is it true?If you disable this user (account is not used anymore), then you can use the same license for another (new) user.
Can I use the same User ID to log in to the application from different desktops same time?
Is there any limitation on number of sessions that can open by a names user? You cannot just create one account and use it by different users; each user should have his/her own account.
If I am going for named user licensing How many user license I want to purchase
And I am looking for a lifetime license term Refer to the same document, under "How much software do we need to purchase now?" section.
Again, I would suggest you contact your Oracle Sales Representative for more details about the license.

  • Oracle licensing question- per server or instance?

We have 2 vendor/3rdparty applications that uses oracle database and purchased oracle licenses for both. They used to run on separate servers. Last year we consolidated these two oracle instances on a single server. Now we are looking to add a 3rd and 4th vendor/3rdparty application using oracle database. All require Oracle 9i Standard.
Is the oracle licence valid for the server and all instances running on it ?
    or
Is the oracle license valid per instance? In other words, are we required to purchase a 3rd and 4th license for the new application instances being added?

Oracle Database licensing is based on named user OR on number of processors. See http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/databaselicensing.pdf

  • Oracle license miss understanding

    Hello every body,
I have oracle license miss understanding,
what's the NAMED USER PLUS, PER CPU , and how much the support cost's me /yr and if a new version of oracle has overcome could i upgrad to this version with the old licens or buy it again?

    Hi,
Oracle Database or for that matter any Oracle technology products are licensed using 2 metrics
    1) Named user plus
    2) Processor(CPU)
Named user plus can be used when the number of users accesing the database can be easily identified or counted.
Processor based licensing is done when there are unlimited number of user accessing the database /application
eg: Internet based application where a count on the number of users is not possible.
If one has valid license's and is under proper support from Oracle one NEED NOT pay extra for the new versions that are released by Oracle.
Hence you should ensure that the licenses are renewed year on year so that you are eligilble for updates/ upgrade as an when released by Oracle.
    Thanks,
    BT.

  • Oracle License Calculation

    Dear All,
We are doing broadcasting business. I have a server which will retreive data from Oracle database. And with the It will then broadcast the information retireved to all the Settop box.
Under this case. If using named user license calculation, the number of license is the number of connections to from the server to the Oracle DB ? Or the number of Settop box using ? total number of audience ?
    Thx for your help.
    Best Regards,
    Hei

Oracle spells this out very carefully in one of the specialty documents available at http://www.oracle.com >> About Oracle >> Pricing and Licensing (or directly at http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/index.html)
In a nutshell: count 1 human who uses the data in electronic form directly or indirectly (via multiplex, web server, application, or other) as a user in Named-User-Plus. Count an autonomous device (transciever) that has no human interface but still interacts with the database as user as well.
ANy time you hit a few dozen users on a database, you should automatically start considering the per-CPU calculation as it does not care how many users are connected - and there is no client access license (CAL) as with some non-Oracle products.
As for the actual price, this is n opportunity to exercise your negotiation skills ... build a business case that shows your optimium fair price and discuss that business case with the Oracle sales rep.
Don't expect discount, and don't lose your cool. Just negotiate with the objective that both sides should and up comfortably satisfied. Your side should get licences at a price that meets your business case requirements; Oracle gets sales, revenue and profit.
However, if you don't have a business case to discuss, Oracle's sales people can legitimately think you are simply trying to get huge discounts. And that is not 'fair'.

  • Reducing Oracle license costs by changing cpu_count?

Our Windows Servers have 4 CPU’s. Our licenses are based on no of cpu’s. Our cpu utilization typically is 10%. Is it possible to change cpu_count parameter e.g. 1 so Oracle will only use 1 cpu. I changed this parameter and did find that parameter remains in fact 1 after reboot. Now question is whether Oracle will agree to this technique.
I know For Oracle free ware, is Oracle Database Express Edition, Oracle license is limited to 1 CPU and 4GB. How does Oracle forces that, i.e., is it something in buitlt in Oracle that Oracle software will not use more than 1 CPU.
    Thanks.

Not sure how Oracle XE limits itself to 1 CPU but "cpu_count" does not
actually limit Oracle's usage of multiple CPUs.
"cpu_count" is actually used by Oracle to set a number of other parameters which
are "derived" from the value of "cpu_count".
Consider a Unix or Linux Server where the OS scheduler schedules processes.
Oracle runs multiple "processes", each of which is attached to the same SGA.
However, the OS scheduler allocates a process to a CPU when the process
requests a CPU. Unless Oracle makes changes to it's software such that
the process always says "I want CPU 1 only and no other CPU", Oracle doesn't
control how many CPUs it uses . On Windows, the architecture is 1 process
but multiple threads. I do not know about CPU scheduling on Windows.

  • I do not know my pin number what do I do?

I have been getting blocked calls and it has been getting annoying. I finally found a website that reveals the caller and it needs the pin number. But I have no idea what it is.

What website are you talking about?
Not sure how this is IPHONE related, as it sounds like a third party website you are visiting.

    Hello @MediAlps ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are having problems receiving the pin for the ePrint application.
    I would like to help.
It sounds like you are trying to have the pin sent to the printers ePrint address.
I am not sure why but this normally does not work.
I would have the pin sent to an actual email address.
If the pin does not arrive in 24 hours I would call the Cloud Services department.

  • CUCM 10.x Meet Me with Name announcement and Pin number

    Hey,
I have been looking for a right way of doing this on CUCM to have a name announcement and also pin number to enter the meeting room.
Hope someone can help me out with this.
    Regards,
    Shibly Ibrahim

CUCM doesn't provide that, you would need to involve CUC/CUE/UCCX to do that, this has been asked plenty of times on CSC before, a simple search will provide you with the possible options you have.

  • Since updating to 7.1.2 my iphone 5s defaults to the Apple ID login page. This happens even before the pin number has been put in. The phone then obviously then does not recognise the Apple ID. (Because the phone is NOT ON) How do i fix this?

I updated my iPhone 5s to 7.1.2 yesterday, and I now cannot input my PIN number. The screen says i need to input my Apple Id and then my Icloud Password. The phone cannot accept these inputs because I can't switch it on because the PIN number cannot be put in ????????????????????????????/

Why not just sign in with your Apple ID and password?

  • TS1292 My pin number had been already use? I bought a $10 card and it appears that has been used. How can i solve this?

    Hi!!
My pin number had been already use? I bought a $10 pin number and it appears that has been used.
    How can i solve this?
I already speak with a representative of the provider company and they told me to contact Itunes or apple to solve this.
    Help me please!!
I cant neither pay with my Master card debit and now with a pin.

From where did you buy this "PIN"? And did you get an actual card, or did they just send you a number? If you got only a number, then you may well have been defrauded. You'll need to go back to whoever sold you this "PIN" to resolve the problem. Apple to the best of my knowledge does not authorize any company to provide codes rather than a physical card and hence probably cannot help you if you did not get a physical iTunes card or receive a gift certificate issued by the iTunes Store themselves.
    Regards.

  • Is there is any licensing issue on number of message in/our from PI

    Hi Experts,
There is one query from our client.
Is there any license implications on number of messages that PI receives or sends out.
    Appreciate your help on this.
    Thanks,
    Shriram.

    Hi,
tehre are two types of licences:
    1. volume based
    2. CPU based
if he has the second one then there are no issues... if the first one he has to pay depending on the message volume
