Oracle Linux 6 Certified Implementation Specialist  Exam 1Z1-460

Reading though the syllabus for this exam, I can across the following:
- Verify proper creation of vmcore by kdump using crash+D23
Anybody know how to do this or is it some sort of typo?

Looks like a typo to me, probably means crash utility.
The deployment guide has further info, chapter 25: The kdump Crash Recovery Service

  • OEL 6 Implementation Essentials Exam [1Z0-460] Study Resources

Does anybody know of any study resources for this exam. I have the Oracle Linux 6 Implementation Essentials Exam Study Guide (which is pretty vague) and OEL 6 documentation from Oracle, but I was wondering what others have used to take this exam. The training from Oracle is quite expensive, so I'm mostly looking for specific books or other resources. I understand that it's still pretty new exam and resources are limited.
    Thanks.

I would possibly suggest starting from http://linux.oracle.com rather than it's documentation sub folder. As on OCS installation exam this will put some weight on the features that Oracle use to differentiate their linux distro and its support from others. That said, you need to know other things when it is in the topics as well. As being more solaris orientated prior to taking the beta there was once or twice that knowledge hindered me rather than helped; but generally reasonably linux/unix background helped me in a couple of places.
Arguably experience of an actuall ULN registration may help, otherwise your doing it from theory. Cant remember if there are any youtube videos on this.
    Check this as well:

If I remembers anything else significant i may put it here.

  • The Requirements to Apply for (P6 EPPM Certified Implementation Specialist) Certification

    Dear All,
I am a project management professional using Primavera P6 extensively during my work, and need to prove and demonstrate my experience in Primavera through Oracle certification
    I would like to ask
    1) If I can apply for the certification individually not through Oracle partner, because I am not working now at Oracle Partner, but I plan to join one after gaining the certification.
    2) And if I gain the certification now, can the Oracle partner company I plan to join later get benefit from my certification, ore the certification stay at individual level.
Thank you very much for your assistance
    Abdullah salah

    Abdullah,
You can follow the certification path as an individual. It is not required that you work for an Oracle Partner. Once you get a job with an Oracle Partner, they can certainly benefit from your certification. You will update your Pearson VUE web account with the partner's company name and partner ID, which you will get from the partner upon becoming employed.

  • OPN Certified Specialist exam

    Hi ,
I am a PL/SQL developer with over 6 years of experience.Currently I ma woking for a company who is an Oracle Gold Partner.
I am plannining to take OCA  11G exam next month. When I request for sponsor ship for my exam to my company , they said  "Not sure how this is going to benefit the company at this moment. Something which would help the company like BI certifications can be looked at.".
So I need to take my exam of my own. I searched for BI certifications provided by oracle.I got OPN and OCS.
I feel OPN is best suitable for me as I am working for an oracle partner company.
But I am confused  about they below FAQ provided in oracle site http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=353
How is the OPN Certified Specialist designation different from the OCA, OCP, OCE or OCS certification?
The OPN Certified Specialist designation is layered on top of an OCA, OCP, OCE or OCS certification. So, any candidate can obtain the underlying OCA, OCP, OCE or OCS certification and individuals who are members of a partner organization will additionally receive the OPN Certified Specialist designation, provided they enter the correct OPN Company ID in the profile at www.pearsonvue.com/oracle.
It means I dont need to take OCA /OCP if I take OPN certification?
Also Please let me know whether I can go and take exam straight or any pre requisite  is there ( like OCA need to take before applying for OCP)
    Please clarify.

Picking a test that I am more familiar with, anyone who passes the exam: 1Z0-528 -- Oracle Database 11g Security Essentials, would gain the following certification: Oracle Database 11g Security Certified Implementation Specialist. If the person is employed by an OPN company, then they would also become an OPN Certified Specialist and would help their company qualify for the Oracle Database Security Options specialization.  The certified specialist designation is just something that adds more meaning to OPN companies.
Another example is the Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional certification.  Individuals who are 11G OCPs and work for an OPN company are also OPN Certified Specialists. Again, this helps the company's specialization status.  Don't ask me what the importance of a company's specialization status is... I have neither a clue nor any interest.
So the answer is that OPN specializations are not done instead of OCA/OCP certifications but are something that sometimes come as an added bonus to getting an OCA/OCP.
Most (again, perhaps all) of the OPN-specific exams are standalones and have no pre-requisites.

In practice this will come live 10 to 13 weeks after the beta ( I think 13 or just over is more common ...) ... could be a little later due to it being the holiday season for most people.

Oracle Linux Administrator Certified Associate (retired)
    as well of course!
but if necessary you can pass 1z0-100 after 1z1-105 and you will still be awarded OL6 OCP!

  • OCA Oracle Linux (Beta) 1Z1-100 - nobody took it?

I am a former UNIX/Linux admin, but stopped my job in this field 5-7 years ago. I took without preparation and updated know-how Oracle Linux 5 and 6 System Administrator" (OCA) Certification Exam (1Z1-100).
Nobody other? Any reviews and field reports from exam? Couldn't find with search function.

I didn't take this exam and have no plans to take the beta.  I will be taking the production version soon after it comes out.  You'll know if the beta received few takers if they extend the end date past December 14th.  I took the Linux Essentials exam, which has about 50% of the topics in 1Z0-100.  I reviewed that exam here:
Oracle 1ZO-460: The Essence of Oracle Linux 6 | GoCertify
I'm not really sure what information you're looking for.  Once I take 1Z0-100, I'll certainly create a review similar to the above one.  That won't be for something like 16 weeks... assuming the beta ends as currently scheduled.

Since Oracle Linux is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, you can use and search "RHEL books". There should some.

ThanksThe page shows the exam is in beta ... (up until at least 15th december according to my estimate) ... and that can extend (or it could even exceptionally reduce). Three months after beta ends it goes to production .... and the exam price shoots up.
Oracle also has a couple of other linux exams ... but the 1z0-403 is rhel 4 based and is becoming out of touch through obselesence. 1z0-402 is relevant but probably not vastly recognised.
IMHO from the exam topics this exam appears to be targetted at ensuring Oracle Partners Staff have demonstrated some understanding of how to assist in setting up OEL and can apply the support Procedures Oracle have in place for business customers. ( Oracle Partners are awarded points for staff having such exam credits; and that can be important in maintaining their partnership level status ... silver, diamond ...... etc).
Some will find other linux certification offerings more relevant for them ... LPIC/COMPCIA/ubuntu/RHEL ....
Any thank you for hinting this exam existed to me .... i had not heard about it and beta's do not stay at the cheap beta price for long. If I have the time (and I dont really) I'd have a shot at it myself in beta.

  • Reference book for Oracle Linux exam 1Z0-402

    Hi gurus!
Can you please give me useful reference books which cover the al topics for Oracle Linux Exam 1Z0-402 preparation?
    Thanks

Can you please give me useful reference books which cover the al topics for Oracle Linux Exam 1Z0-402 preparation?By itself, 1Z0-402 does not grant any certification. Presumably you are going for Oracle Linux Administrator Certified Associate. That certification path also requires passing 1Z0-403. However, you can skip 1Z0-402 if you already have one of several other industry Linux certifications (LPI, Linux+, Ubuntu, Red Hat, or Novell). My recommendation would be to go for one of these certifications, then skip straight to the 1Z0-403 exam. I suggest that for several reasons:
    1. There is a lot more study resources for exams like CompTIAs Linux+ available.
    2. The other Linux certifications are better known than Oracle's.
    3. Since 1Z0-402 by itself does not grant a certification, going this route gets you two certifications for the price of one.
