Oracle Linux HCL. Support of Intel Core i3 and H55 chipset

Dear Colleagues.
I'm going to purchase the new desktop for home use and the question which bothers me is the compatiblity of new hardware system with Oracle Linux 5.6.
The system platform supposed to be purchased consists of "Intel Core i3-560" CPU, "ASUS P7H55D-M EVO" motherboard, 4Gb DDR3 1333 MHz and other components. No descrete graphical card is supposed to be purchased since CPU integrated graphical card will be used.
The questions are:
Did somebody installed Intel Core + H55 chipset motherboards?
Was that successfull?
Do you have some hints, good notices regarding Linux installation on such system?
The OS version planned to be installed is ORacle Linux 5.6.
Thank you for your time and assistance!
Best Regards,
Ilya.

Tommy and Dude,
The main reasons of installing Oracle Linux are:
1) Learning administering Oracle Database installed on Linux systems environment.
2) Oracle Linux is supported by Oracle Database 10g.
3) It is free.
There were not much alternatives to choose from. Below you can see the list of supported OSes by Oracle Database 10g:
Asianux 1,2,3. <-- Never heard of this OS before.
Oracle Linux 4,5 <-- My choice. It is free and it uses stable Red Hat kernel (2.6.18 for Oracle Linux 5, 2.6.32 for Oracle Unbreakable Linux.; by the way, i read in some internet article that Linux kernel 2.6.32 contains some code for supporting Intel Core processors (at least theirs old versions which use socket LGA1156), but probably it is not completely right information).
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, 5 <-- they are not free of charge.
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 SP2 or later, 10, 11 <-- Seems like they are not free of charge either. 60 days trial is not good option for me.
Oracle VM <-- Probably, it is also a good choice. I'll study this option.Unfortunately, both Ubuntu and Fedora are not in the list and Windows is no good choice for me since Oracle Database is different in the administration under UNIX and Windows environment.
I've got questions regarding the use of VirtualBox and other VM software:
- Would i have the ability to install, run and administer Oracle Database 10g within VirtualBox?
- Is there much differences in administering Oracle Database under real standalone OS and under VM software (VirtlBox, for instance)?
Thank you very much for participation and usefull suggestions!
Best Regards,
Ilya.

    Hi,
What kernel version do you install? You should install smp kernel version in order to see all the processors.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-4083cl (w/ Intel Core i5 and ATI GPU): Which is its normal temperature?

    Hello,
I have a question about HP Pavilion dv7-4083cl (w/ Intel Core i5 and ATI GPU):
    Which is its normal temperature?
    Environment: 24 °C (Celcius)
HWMonitor and Real Temp agrees with the numbers find below.
The two CPU Cores starts at 37 °C and in about an hour are at 53 °C, with CPU usage under 10%.
The GPU starts at 34 °C and easly goes to 57 °C, with some peaks at 72 °C
    Regarding "Hewlett-Packard 144B": (under low/idle CPU usage)
TZ01: starts at 40 °C and very fast goes to 55 °C or 65 °C (and more, under CPU load)
PCH starts at 59 °C and very fast goes to 76 °C (and stays there)
GMCH: starts at 40 °C and very fast goes to 55 °C or 65 °C
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 (TMPIN0): Starts at 34 °C and easily goes and stays at 57-58 °C
Note: I'm also using a cooler (two fans, under its base)
If I run Real Temp (v. 3.6) "Sensor Test", the cores goes up to 100 °C , and even a bit more.
Which is the normal / expected behavior / operational range?
Steady PCH at 76 °C is it normal?
    TZ01, GMCH at 55 - 65 °C is it normal?
i5 Cores at 55 °C is it normal? (and easily going to 70 °C or more)
GPU (ATI) at 57 °C is it normal?
is it normal to climb up to 100-105 °C under a 5 minutes high CPU usage operation?
    Thanks!

i roll back to bios F.25 which is the older version of bios that support my device but still suffering from same D90 system overheating error.
i can't contact hp support or send it to offical hp center currently coz i am from Egypt and i live in far town

  • I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Want to upgrade to Lion to take advantage of icloud. Is there anything I can do without getting a new MacPro?

I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Would like to upgrade to Lion but it requires a minimum of Intel Core 2 Duo. Can I get what I need or do I have to buy new MacBok Pro?

I also have a core duo MBP with Snow Leopard and it runs perfectly.  There are very few things it cannot do as compared to the faster, newer MBPs, but that is attributable to the CPU, not the OS.  There are some who view Lion as downgrade rather than as an improvement.  If there are important applications that reqire a fast CPU or Lion features that you find essential, by all means get a new MBP.
I have an aphorism:  Obsolescence is more often a perception rather than a reality.  Besides the silver keys look much classier than the black ones.
    Ciao.

You do realise that you can add Ram, if that is all that is holding you back it's not a problem.
Tell me the exact model and age of your Mac. (The model identifier can be found by holding the option key down and clicking on the Apple Menu, select System Information (top entry) and then read the model identifier from the righthand panel (2nd entry down)

You can update directly to Yosemite (for free) through the App Store (this is 10.10). Make sure your existing applications will run on this OS.
If you wish to stay at 10.8, you can order this through the online Apple Store (it's $20), and they will email you a redemption code to be used on the App Store.

  • My computer is a MacBook Pro Intel core duo, and I need to know if I can run the new Lion OS?

My computer is a MacBook Pro Intel core duo, and I need to know if I can run the new Lion OS?  The Apple web says must have Intel Core 2 Duo. Please advise. Not knowledgeable enough to know if not having the 2 between Core and Duo is a stopper.  Appreciate any guidance.

The difference between a Core Duo and a Core 2 Duo is a show stopper when it comes to running Lion.  The Core Duo is still only a 32 bit chip, but the Core 2 Duo is a 64 bit chip.  You need the 64 bit chip to run Lion.

  • Intel Core Duo and Lion...

So I am running my 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo and trying to install Lion. Everything I can find says it can't be done. Is this true?

Yes.  You need an Intel core 2 duo minimum.
    General Requirements-Lion
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space

I can't find php5-curl or php-curl in the Repository? You mean, how do you get cURL to work with PHP on Oracle Linux. If you just want cURL, install it:
    # yum install curlIf you are actually talking about cURL, the default php package in OL6 includes cURL support without any additional RPMs:
    $ php -i | grep cURL
    cURL support => enabled
    cURL Information => 7.19.7

  • Suitable ethernet cable for my new Imac 27-inch iMac 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 and old imac 1 GHZ PowerPC G4

I am looking for a Suitable ethernet cable for my new Imac 27-inch iMac 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 (Mavericks 10.9.4) & old imac 1 GHZ PowerPC G4 (10.4.11) for transfering files, documents, photos into my new intel mac from my old power PC imac.
Can anyone please advise me which suitable ethernet cable would be suitable for tasks.
    Many thanks
    Niall

Note, the iMac G4 1 Ghz only supports 10/100 base-T.  Firewire is up to 4 faster with a cable such as this one:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/HA833ZM/A/belkin-firewire-800400-9-pin6-pin-ca ble-2-m66-ft
    and adapted to this one:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD464ZM/A/apple-thunderbolt-to-firewire-adapte r
    http://www.macsales.com/ may offer cheaper cables.
And since you are migrating from a G4, be sure to make your files portable to newer data formats before transferring.  Old Appleworks/Clarisworks files are not compatible:

  • 2.33 intel core duo and G5 2.0 dual desk

Hi i am using a g5 2.0 dual processer with 3.5. ram with lots of synths may b all possible softwares including viena..

what i want to know is can the laptop open the smae amount of plugins and the synts which i open in my desktop G5 2.O DUAL..or may be more..let me tell u that my setions are preety heavy because i do also compose filmscore and do program the fulll 20 min. reel in 1 setion.i have my own studio n i also have a quad 2.5.the idea to buy the laptop is to carry the same setion outdoor and work n get it back..
please help me with this.else i will loose my money buying a laptop.and not get the same result.
your suggestion should be helpful for me..

    hi,
I have exactly the same G5 as you (but with more RAM) and I also have the MBP 17" C2D 2.33 GHz.
as far as I can tell, my MBP is more powerful running logic than my G5 is. I don't think you'll have any trouble getting your work done on the MBP you are looking at. in fact, you might even find that if a project you are working on gets close to pushing the MBP to its limits, it won't even play without freezing tracks on your G5.
the only thing to keep in mind is that you have more limited i/o options on the laptop.. meaning that if you are expecting to use an audio interface with many inputs and outputs working simultaneously, as well as a fast external firewire drive, then you'll be pushing the boundaries of your firewire bus to get enough bandwidth. whereas on the desktop machine, your extra drive space can be internal drives that have their own SATA bus, and your audio i/o can be either FW or PCI. but if you're just composing and producing music on the machine, without trying to record 26 simultaneous audio tracks and streaming vienna orchestra sounds off of a firewire drive all at once, then you won't have any trouble.
