There are two linux flavor:
1. Linux Client
The size of the Oracle9i Lite 5.0.1.0.1 release for Linux is 1.9MB. This includes Oracle Lite database, ODBC, JDBC, and utilities for RedHat 7.2 Intel Linux. Go to metalink/patch and search for patch # 2240530.
2. Linux Server
The 5.0.2 for Linux release includes Mobile Server for RedHat 7.2 Linux, but not the Linux client. This full release includes the entire server framework plus the Mobile Development Kit. Alltogether 250 MB.

  • Differences between Oracle 8i for a UNIX Platform and Oracle 8i for a Linux Platform

    Hello,
J would like to know if there are some differences between Oracle 8i for a UNIX Platform and Oracle 8i for a Linux Platform.
I know that there are some differences on Oracle 8i Parallel Server and i know that some products are not include like precompiler (Mod*Ada, Pro*FORTRAN) on a Linux Platform.
    Thank you.

We have installed Oracle 8i on Solaris 8 and it had a great performance, of course that the hardware and licence invested here was costed my the office where i work. Personaly i'd installed linux reh hat 8 and oracle 8i, imagine that, it could be implemented by any individual that has the time to do so.
By buyinng from a company that has a good background you could be sure that you will have support.
Bottom line, if you have the $ to buy great hardware go for a unix platform. But if you don't a Red Hat Linux Server Licence with a 1 year sopport and Oracle data base is about 3500Dls.

  • Midp porting for arm linux

    hi
I ahve sucessfully ported kvm for arm.
now i have to put midp on my device ,can anyone tell me where i can get midp source for arm linux.
    Thanx
    Gajanan

    Hi,
I was also facing the same problem. Let me tell you that you should use the source code of KVM and CLDC 1.1, dont use CLDC 1.0.4.
Secondly install j2sdk1.4 for linux, i am tellin this specifically becuse just installing the jre for linux won't solve the problem.
AFter installin all these things, go into the directory
<root dir>/j2me_cldc/build/linux and give the "make" command.
I think this should solve the problem.

  • Oracle Lite for Windows CE H/PC

I have one question about Oracle Lite for Windows CE on Handheld/PC.
Which version of Oracle Lite for Windows CE supports Java stored procedures and
triggers and the Oracle Lite JAC and JDBC interfaces on H/PC? I have version 3.6 and 4.0.1 but this versions don't support
JAC, JDBC interfaces, Java stored procedures and triggers ( this is written in documentation ).
I urgently need version of Oracle Lite for Windows CE on H/PC which
mostly supports JDBC interface because I've developed an application for
    Oracle Lite in JDeveloper with
JDBC interface and I intend to transfer this application on H/PC ( Velo
Phillips ) with Widows CE 2.0 operating system.
Does such version of Oracle Lite for Windows CE which supports JDBC
    interface exist at all?
    Please help me.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Oracle 10g for Fedora Linux 3 with Kernel 2.6.9

Can any body suggest a link, from where I can download the Oracle database 10g for Fedora Core 3 Linux with Kernel version 2.6.9-1*.
I went through the oracle site site but i was not able to find a one for Fedora 3 instead i found for Fedora 4.
    Thanks.......
    Suneel

You will not find one exactly as you require.
As I suggested in the duplicate link
Oracle 10g for Fedora Linux 3 with Kernel 2.6.9 you need to take a version of Oracle that seems to close to your Linux and then carefully tinker to make it work.,

  • Oracle 8i/9i ODBC driver for ARM-Linux

I may need an ODBC driver for Oracle
for the arm-linux platform in the near
future. Does anyone know if such a thing
exists and where to get it?
    Michael

Oracle doesn't produce such a beast. The main problem in doing so is that Microsoft provides a lot of the infrastructure for ODBC on Windows only. In order to use ODBC on another platform, you have to port that infrastructure, which Oracle isn't likely to do.
You might try Merant or <http://www.unixodbc.com>, both of which provide third-party drivers that might be appropriate for you.

  • Error when installing Oracle Lite for Mobile Field Service Laptop

    Hi,
I am facing a strange problem when installing Mobile Field Service Laptop agent "Oracle Lite" on my laptop.
When I run the setup, it asks me username and password, after entering the information, when I proceed, I see setup window which displays below messages
    "Authenticating with server... "
Please wait. This may take several minutes ...
Then it hangs for several minutes, approx 5 to 10 mins, and then gives message
"Could not connect to server: HTTP/1.0 502 Bad Gateway"
I am not able to proceed with setup.
But none of my other colleagues are facing this issue, even though the network, proxy settings and java version are same.
    Any idea about this error?

  • Oracle 9i for Redhat Linux 9

    Hi
    I have a P-III, 1Ghz 128MB RAM, 40GB HDD pc. There are two OS installed in it,i.e., Win200(prof)and Redhat Linux 9.
As I am undergoing a course in Oracle 9i DBA, I have installed a copy of Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition in my Windows partition and am practising on it. I want to install Oracle 9i in the Linux partition also, but I do not know which one to install. There are so many variants of Linux available for downloading.
As I am pretty new to the field of Linux and Oracle, I am very much confused.
If anybody could help me in figuring out the correct download for my file, it would be very great.
    Thanks
    Shoeb.

No. You have to follow the minimum requirements, which I think is 512MB of RAM.

  • Bfile functionality with oracle lite for Synchronization

    Hi there,
In my project requirement, We need to design a standalone version of the applciation which will be used by the marketing people around the globe.
Plan is to use oracle Lite database with this application, as it synchronises with the main server on demand. During our testing we found that Oracle lite do the data transfer /synchronization perfectly but have problem with bfile type data. Precisely, the only problem we are facing is how to synchronize the file which are there on the server as bfile type. As per my info Bfile is not supported by the oracle Lite.
    Any clue will be appreciated.

    Junius,
    Greetings,
Thanks for the reply speedy reply... I took more time in replying as we busy in evaluating the Oracle Lite version 10g.
Well Yeah! you are right and thru packaging, we can have the files downloaded but for me its a work around. Let em explain my situation again.
I have user specific set of files for each of its client which again gets updated quarterly. If I keep this data in the package I'll have to keep 'n' number of files in the package as about 300 odd user will be on field maintaining number of user. Another problem would be to publish and package every quarter. Thired problem would be of downloading this application as size will be too high and relevant data for each of the user would be hardly 10% of the size of the application for each user.
I hope I have clarified the situation. Pl. let me know if you need any more info.
    Regards,
    Sunil Dua

  • Oracle Lite for x86 Emulation

Oracle Lite ships with libraries for MIPS and SH3. I need to do my development on NT with VC++6.0 and a Windows CE Toolkit for VC++6.0.
I need Oracle Lite libraries for x86 emulation. How does one obatin these.
Are there any other emulators that I could use to develop on NT and finally deploy on a device running Windows CE.
Any experience with Oracle Lite emulation for Windows CE will greatly help.
    Thanks in advance

Oracle 5.0.10 does not provide an x.86 emulator for CE.nt devices. Eventually this will be an Oracle tool that will be an extension of .net.

Probably end of 2015. RIM Executives have no clue, with the holidays coming up how could the not have at least some of the features of the 2.0 upgrade available. Whats up with these dudes?
