Oracle OER Asset Type vs Asset Function

I've just begun populating our Oracle Enterprise Repository (11.1.1.4.0), and I have a query about values used for Asset Type and Asset Function ...
When I submit a Service asset, it appears in the editor under Submitted, Pending Review
Once Accepted, it moves to Submitted, Under Review
and once reviewed, updated and registered it moves to the "Registered" folder
BUT, the Registered folder contains a range of sub-folders which correspond to the values of AssetFunction
I'd prefer to see sub-folders based on AssetType - i.e. Services, Applications, Interfaces etc.
Does anybody have any comments ?
Thanks,
PD.

Hi Dom,
Thanks again for your response. I do indeed have the situation you describe ... coarse-grained services calling finer-grained services.
I have recorded both types of service in OER as Service assets (using different values of Asset Function to differentiate between the two types of Service), and I've created References/Is Referenced By relationships between the Services.
That works well for Services with a single operation, but if the target Service is a Data Service with a range of CRUD-type operations I can currently only record the relationship between the calling service and the target Data Service.
There is no indication of which operation(s) the calling Service uses.
This is what I was referring to as fine-grained impact analysis.
I could change the meta-model to add an Operation asset and model the relationships that way, but are there other options that you're aware of ?
Thanks,
Pete.

  • Error While Running Depreciation in Oracle Fixed Asset

We have uploaded assets in Oracle Fixed Asset from old system successfully.
Now we were to Run depreciation for the first time and
the first process Generate Accounts runs with error,
    APP-OFA-48400: ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
PLS-00306: wrong number or types of argum
    Number of successes: 0

Module Generate Accounts ended with error
and all the following processes completes with error.
Please help, what can be the problem?

    Hi
It seems that one of the patch has not been applied properly.
You get this error from the package FA_MASSADD_PKG, so you could put some debug to see where you get it exactly or check the patches where patch includes file FAMAPTB.pls.

  • ADI Fixed Asset Functionality w/ 10.7

Metalink tells me that all just about all versions of ADI are compatilbe with Oracle Financials 10.7 but I'm being told that only applies to its GL functionality. Is it true that the Fixed Asset functionality, specifically the Fixed Asset Upload does not work with Oracle Assets 10.7SC (prod 16.1)? If it's not, can you point me to some documentation?

ADI 7.1 is backward compatible with Release 10.7, 11, and 11i.
I don't know why the Upload Asset feature wouldn't work with 10SC...
You can get the ADI documentation from MetaLink for all versions of ADI (both Installation and User Guide).

  • Oracle Fixed Assets using Oracle GL

Hello Colleagues,  We have a project that we are busy with, moving from another Fixed Assets program to Oracle Fixed Assets.  We also have a GL program that we use.  My question is, why do I need Oracle GL for Oracle Fixed Assets if I am going to post from Oracle FA to my other GL program?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hi,
it is purely becoz of the design of the Oracle ERP, there is interdependacy on every Module ....
GL is the foremost module that needs to be implemented for configuring any of the subledger applications ......To Implement fixed assets, one needs to have the Chart of Accounts details which can be obtained by creating a Ledger in the General Ledger Module.... Once done, Fixed Asset module can be configured, transactions can be recorded and accounting of transactions could be done in assets module ..... Transfer can be done by your external GL program by performing a customization ......

    c) Maintenance Super User
    d) Self-Service Work Requests

  • ADF View Object query to use Oracle  LONG data type

    Hi,
I'm using a view object that uses Oracle LONG data type. The following exception is thrown
*"java.sql.SQLException: Stream has already been closed"* and it is not fetching the correct data.
I have searched in many forums, they suggested to use LOB instead of LONG as LONG is deprecated. But in my case I can't avoid using LONG as some of my legacy applications using the same DB.
    Please suggest me a way
    Thanks in Advance

  • Question on the parameter type of DLL functions

Question on the parameter type of DLL functions
I am trying to develop an interface to control a laser with LV8.2  I am planing to use the VI “Call Library Function Node” to call the DLL and set the exact same parameters of functions in the DLL.
According to the DLL manual of the laser, there are six functions.  One of the prototypes is:  function getstatuspointer : pointer. I don't know how to set this parameter for the function. Is there anyone who can give some hints? Thanks!
BTW :The following is a description of the function:
This function returns a 32 bit pointer to the STATUS data structure (Tstatusrec). In the 32 bit DLL, every application is using its own copy of the data structure (local
memory). The data structure is a packed structure. "packed" means that the fields in the structure are not aligned on word or double-word boundaries.
    Tstatusrec = packed record

                            initstat : byte;
                            queuefill : byte;
                            anzapp16 : word; (not used)
                            anzapp32 : word;

  • Replacing Oracle's FIRST_VALUE and LAST_VALUE analytical functions.

    Hi,
I am using OBI 10.1.3.2.1 where, I guess, EVALUATE is not available. I would like to know alternatives, esp. to replace Oracle's FIRST_VALUE and LAST_VALUE analytical functions.
I want to track some changes. For example, there are four methods of travel - Air, Train, Road and Sea. Would like to know traveler's first method of traveling and the last method of traveling in an year. If both of them match then a certain action is taken. If they do not match, then another action is taken.
    I tried as under.
    1. Get Sequence ID for each travel within an year per traveler as Sequence_Id.
    2. Get the Lowest Sequence ID (which should be 1) for travels within an year per traveler as Sequence_LId.
    3. Get the Highest Sequence ID (which could be 1 or greater than 1) for travels within an year per traveler as Sequence_HId.
    4. If Sequence ID = Lowest Sequence ID then display the method of travel as First Method of Travel.
    5. If Sequence ID = Highest Sequence ID then display the method of travel as Latest Method of Travel.
    6. If First Method of Travel = Latest Method of Travel then display Yes/No as Match.
The issue is cells could be blank in First Method of Travel and Last Method of Travel unless the traveler traveled only once in an year.
Using Oracle's FIRST_VALUE and LAST_VALUE analytical functions, I can get a result like
Traveler | Card Issue Date | Journey Date | Method | First Method of Travel | Last Method of Travel | Match?
    ABC | 01/01/2000 | 04/04/2000 | Road | Road | Air | No
    ABC | 01/01/2000 | 15/12/2000 | Air | Road | Air | No
    XYZ | 01/01/2000 | 04/05/2000 | Train | Train | Train | Yes
    XYZ | 01/01/2000 | 04/11/2000 | Train | Train | Train | Yes
Using OBI Answers, I am getting something like this.
Traveler | Card Issue Date | Journey Date | Method | First Method of Travel | Last Method of Travel | Match?
    ABC | 01/01/2000 | 04/04/2000 | Road | Road | <BLANK> | No
    ABC | 01/01/2000 | 15/12/2000 | Air | <BLANK> | Air | No
    XYZ | 01/01/2000 | 04/05/2000 | Train | Train | <BLANK> | No
    XYZ | 01/01/2000 | 04/11/2000 | Train | <BLANK> | Train | No
Above, for XYZ traveler the Match? clearly shows a wrong result (although somehow it's correct for traveler ABC).
Would appreciate if someone can guide me how to resolve the issue.
    Many thanks,
    Manoj.

    Hi,
Just to recap, in OBI 10.1.3.2.1, I am trying to find an alternative way to FIRST_VALUE and LAST_VALUE analytical functions used in Oracle. Somehow, I feel it's achievable. I would like to know answers to the following questions.
    1. Is there any way of referring to a cell value and displaying it in other cells for a reference value?
For example, can I display the First Method of Travel for traveler 'ABC' and 'XYZ' for all the rows returned in the same column, respectively?
    2. I tried RMIN, RMAX functions in the RDP but it does not accept "BY" clause (for example, RMIN(Transaction_Id BY Traveler) to define Lowest Sequence Id per traveler). Am I doing something wrong here? Why can a formula with "BY" clause be defined in Answers but not the RPD? The idea is to use this in Answers. This is in relation to my first question.
Could someone please let me know?
I understand that this thread that I have posted is related to something that can be done outside OBI, but still would like to know.
If anything is not clear please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Manoj.
