Oracle OLT

Hello
I am opening a new question immediatley after creating my account. If anything goes wrong from my part, please execuse and guide me on how to follows your rules and ethics.
Iam a network and Linux engineer. Now in my firm, Oracle OLT is used for Loadtesting. I want to monitor and test the quontity of traffic generated by OLT while OLT Engineers performing load testing.I downloaded HPSitescope with the prescription of a load testing engineer, but I dont know whether it supports Oracle Load Testing tool. Please advice me on this issue. Thanks... in advance

I'm not familiar with Oracle OLT nor HPSitescope, but I wonder why you are wondering about HPSitescope? From what I understand, HPSitescope does not provide any special agent software and is primarily used to remote monitor server and service availability. Apparently it provides templates for Oracle Database. I doubt that it is able to analyze the results of more sophisticated tools like Oracle OLT.
Perhaps you might want to check http://oss.oracle.com/projects/olt to find more information about OLT. There is also a FAQ that looks useful.

All over the regular and OSS site, OLT is referenced at http://oss.oracle.com/projects/olt/ but this is now 404. What gives, and where did it go?

The project was removed temporarily but will be back in a day or two, new and improved!

  • How to Increase Time-out for Agent Manager in OLT?

    Hello All,
When using the Oracle Load Testing Agent Manager for a load test of multiple scripts, I often get time-outs at the start of a test from OLT:
"Error communicating with.... : timed out after 60 seconds".
When I check the agentmanager.log file on the remote PC (Win XP SP2) I can see that the communcation started with the last line saying
    "connected to server=......yaddayadda.... queue=queue/AgentPoolNotificationQueue"
which I assume means there was communication. And there were 2 attempts to start. After the first attempt, the entry:
05:31:09,513 WARN [AgentProcess] Forcibly terminating process 8041484 for agent agId1530_rndd49ae6b9-a8ec-4a0d-920d-16ee6c7021f4
The agentmanager_auth.log file show 2 lines near the start time of the test:
    2010-05-12 05:30:18,606 INFO [URL:t3://..........au:8088;Requestor Username: oats;Requestor Key:f6272e33-9428-425b-b52d-c0363f863e43;Requestor Queue:queue/AgentPoolNotificationQueue;Request ID:36;Request:startagent;] - authentication successful

    Why was there a 'stopagent'?
The log from a successful agent show lines after the "Connected to server...." line ( "startAgent( pathTo.....a.. Launching agent.... Launched process 8792944 for agaent agId.....") so something appears to have not happened on the failed agents.
When starting a test immediately (rather than scheduling it as I want to for off-peak times) and the agents time out, I can stop it & restart test. Usually then they all start successfully.
Does anyone have any suggestions on failure reasons & possible solutions?
If there's nothing else that I might have missed, I'd like to trying increasing the time-out to say 120 or 500 seconds.
    How can I do this?
Is there a way to get the agents to try starting again, or add a new vUser/script instance one the test is running?
    Many thanks,
    Neil

    Hi Ramesh,
I guess you need to increase the parameter "icm/keep_alive_timeout" value, it's default value is 60. please gothrough the link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_webas630/helpdata/en/0b/1c7e7abbc311d5993a00508b6b8b11/content.htm
To increase this go to RZ10 and add this parameter in Instance profile and modify the value then restart the server to make  the changes effective.

    Hari

  • Errors while running load test scripts in Oracle Load Test

I am a QA Analyst and this is my first time using the Oracle Load Test application. Acutally this is the first time I have done anything related to load test scripts. The Oracle Load Test version I am using is 9.10.0219. When I run some of the scripts with a user ramp up of 1 user per step, the load tests complete successfully. When I begin to adjust the number of VUs per step to 2 or more, I begin to get some of the following errors. By the looks of these errors can you provide any feedback as to whether these are issues with OLT or with the application I am running the load test against? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
It looks like an application issue since you are getting a HTTP 500. The other errors relate to the fact that ti can't resolve some dynamic values in needs to extract from the resonse content since the pages are different (probably due the 500 error).

  • User Mode to be used in OLT

    Hi,
We are testing Oracle E-business suite application which involves online transaction entries comprising Web-ADI & usage of Oracle Forms. During test run in OLT,iam confused on choosing user mode (Thin/Thick/Java client).
At present we are using Java client as user mode.
    Is it correct?
Will wrong selection of user mode would affect performance of both OLT server and test agents?
    Please do clarify me.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Mahesh.S

    Hi Mahesh,
I assume you are using 9.1 at the moment - in 9.2 you won;t get this option as you can only use OpenScript to generate the scripts for use in OLT. These 'modes' come into play when using OFT (now removed from OATS in 9.2) as your script recorder and they represent whihc client is needed for your VUs. 'Thin' is a lightweight, scalable http engine, and 'Thick' is a full browser client. 'Thick' was hardly ever used for load testing as it requires too much resource. Java client is a Java version of a thin client http engine. If you are using OpenScript then it just leave it as Java client.

  • Test scripts for oracle applications using qtp testing tool

    hi
i want some test scripts for oracle applications using qtp testing tool
    regards

You will need to create separate scripts for Load testing. The functional scripts cannot be used in OLT. The exceptions to this would be the "General" items (Java Code Script & Web Services) which can also be used in OLT.
e.g. Instead of selecting "Functional Testing - Oracle EBS/Forms"
select "Load Testing (Protocol Automation) - Oracle EBS/Forms"
Once you get into load testing you'll realise that you want to create very specific scripts and won't want to try re-using functional scripts. I know a lot of such tools are 'sold' on the fact that functional scripts can be re-used for load, but when it comes down to it you'll want to design your load scripts seperately anyway!

  • Kindly suggest oracle automation testing tools supporting oracle 10g forms

    Hi,
We would like to automate oracle 10g forms in our company. kindly suggest oracle automation tools supporting oracle 10g forms other than OATS.
If only OATS tool is available in Oracle, please suggest user guide for OATS.
    Regards,
    Sairam

    Hi Sairam,
You can find OATS docs in OATS installation package itself. You can find separate pdf files for each OATS product(OpenScript Programmer Preference, OFT, OLT, OTM, Administrator etc).

  • Upgrade Oracle XE 10.2.0.1 - XE 10.2.0.2 - 11g EE

    Hi,
We are using Oracle Load Testing, which deafults to Oracle XE 10.2.0.1.
We want to change DB to Oracle Enterprise 11g (of which a license is included for OLT). But the upgrade assistant in Oracle 11g requires Oracle XE 10.2.0.2.
How do we upgrade Oracle XE 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.2 so that we can then upgrade to Oracle Enterprise 11g? Is there a patch to apply first?
    Regards,
    axel

    Hi,
    Never done XE upgrade.
I assume you need first upgrade to 10.2.0.3 and then to 11G

Why you do not install 11G and just use e.g. exp/imp to export and import your application schemas?
If you have done something with Apex , export also your applications.
Anyway, take good backups before you try any method.

  • Serverstats for Oracle E-Business Suite R12

    Hi,
I am setting up some serverstat monitors for performance tests on Oracle E-Business Suite R12 application (for benchmarking and tuning). I have set up some monitors for measuring CPU and memory on the Webserver, Application server(both Oracle App server 10) and Database(Oracle 10g). Also I have set up monitors for the V$SYSSTAT & V$SESSTAT views for the database.
What other monitors should I set up for monitoring the E-business suite application.
Any advice from your experience would be very helpful.
    Regards
    CP

    Hi,
You will just have to add the monitor profiles for linux in your OLT. You will need a user in your webserver who can run commands for iostat, vmstat, netstat, sar or whatever other monitors you want to set up. You can also set up virtual agent in Serverstats to run these commands individually using the user on webserver. If you have any more questions, you can post it here.
Please go through the Serverstats guide that comes with OATS installation to know more about setting up monitors.

  • OpenScripts not loadable in OLT, OFT doesn't record forms activity

I think something's borked here. I've got OLT 9.00.1355 running and it integrates fine with the tests created by OFT - I can see them in the test list, play them back, etc. Problem is, the OFT scripts don't seem to be recording anything in Java Forms (and there's a nasty crash bug with LOV entries in self-service apps).
So today I downloaded OpenScript (Version: 9.0.0.0 Service Release 1) from Oracle and sure enough, it works great and plays back my Forms activity for me. But the scripts don't show up in OFT or OLT and I am needing to do load testing against forms activity.
    What gives?

    Hi Mike
Let me try and clarify this, first OFT does not support forms and is being replaced by OpenScript, OFT is still supported, but development has stooped and it will be deprecated in the near future, if you need to use forms you need to use OpenScript. OpenScript has different modules for functional testing and for load testing, functional works on a UI level and load works at a protocol level making the load scripts very scalable scripts recorded using the functional testing module will not show under OLT as they can not be used for load testing if you need to load test forms you will need to record the scripts using the load testing module which can be selected using the create new script wizard.
    Hope this helps
    Alex
