Oracle OpenWorld 2008 - presentations and demos

Hi,
Question to Oracle people - when can we expect publishing prresentations and demos from OOW 2008? [OOW On Demand Preview|http://ondemandpreview.vportal.net/] portal is still empty.
Kuba

Well the presentations and sound recording are accessible form here:
http://www.cplan.com/oracleopenworld2008/sanfrancisco/ondemandlogon
But you'll need a user/password
Also remember that you only get voice and slides - you don't actually get to see live demos.

    thanks and regards
    Hassan

You said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.
In EDelivery, this is what you should find if you search on "Oracle Fusion Middleware" for "Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)":
First look for this link then drill into it:
Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
In this section you will find the following:
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 2 (Forms & Reports)
    Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 (11.1.2.0.0) for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) V28761-01
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 1 (includes Portal, Forms, Reports, and Disco)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 1 of 4) V18785-01
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 2 of 4)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 3 of 4)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 4 of 4)
This is the FMw 11 Release 1 patch set that will bring the above 11.1.1.2.0 installation to 11.1.1.6.  This is NOT a full product installation - just a patch
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Patch Set 5 (11.1.1.6.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) V29850-01
There are no patch sets for Release 2 as of yet.

  • Oracle OpenWorld and Ops Center 12c

When I was at Oracle OpenWorld two weeks ago, I could have sworn the Ops Center booth was running an unreleased version of Ops Center (to be 12c). If that is the case, what is the estimated release date of this product? And will it be like Oracle Enterprise Manager, and only run on Oracle Linux? Or is Ops Center 11g just being rebranded under the Enterprise Manager "12c" brand?

At Oracle OpenWorld, Oracle showed a preview of the next release of Ops Center plus the currently shipping version 11gR1. Oracle cannot discuss specific future release dates over public forums, but should you have a local Oracle account team servicing your company you can reach out to them and find out more information via the non-disclosure agreement process.
Ops Center works on Solaris (x86 and SPARC), Oracle Linux, and several RPM distributions of Linux. I will also note that Enterprise Manager 12c also works on a large variety of Operating Systems. We currently only see the Oracle Linux version downloadable because it is their release process to release Oracle Linux first and then follow up that release with additional downloads for the other Operating Systems in the weeks that follow.

Title:      Java SE for Embedded Meets Oracle Berkeley DB at the Edge
Abstract:      This session covers a special case of edge-to-enterprise computing, where the edge consists of embedded devices running Java SE for Embedded in combination with Oracle Berkeley DB Java Edition, a widely used embedded database. The approach fits a larger emerging trend in which edge embedded devices are "smart"--that is, they come equipped with an embedded (in-process) database for structured persistent storage of data as needed. In addition, these devices may optionally come with a thin middleware layer that can perform certain basic data processing operations locally. The session highlights the synergies between both technologies and how they can be utilized. Topics covered include implementation and performance optimization.

  • Oracle OpenWorld 2010

    All,
I will be at Oracle OpenWorld this year. Just wondering if any regular posters on this forum will be there as well? If so, reply to this thread and we can exchange contact info.
I will be presenting at the following session:
    Session ID: S317033
Title: Oracle Berkeley DB: Enabling Your Mobile Data Strategy
Abstract: Mobile data is everywhere. Deploying applications and updates, as well as collecting data from the field and synchronizing it with the Oracle Database server infrastructure, is everyone’s concern today in IT. Mobile devices, by their very nature, are easily damaged, lost, or stolen. Therefore, enabling secure, rapid mobile deployment and synchronization is critically important. By combining Oracle Berkeley DB 11g and Oracle Database Lite Mobile Server, you can easily link your mobile devices, users, applications, and data with the corporate infrastructure in a safe and reliable manner. This session will discuss several real-world use cases.
Speaker(s): Eric Jensen, Oracle, Principal Product Manager
Greg Rekounas, Rekounas.org, Oracle Mobile Consultant
    Event: JavaOne and Oracle Develop
    Stream(s): ORACLE DEVELOP, DEVELOP

OpenWorld went very well. There is a lot of buzz about embedded technologies and Mobile Server plays an obvious role in that.
I put up a post about Oracle's direction:

  • Session for Oracle OpenWorld

    Hey Folks,
I just submitted a session idea for Oracle OpenWorld. this year called "Performance Tuning and Sizing Oracle Lite for a Global Enterprise Application."
    https://mix.oracle.com/ideas/32780-performance-tuning-and-sizing-oracle-lite-for-a-global-enterprise-application
If you would be interested in hearing about this session, then vote for my idea.
Usually the way they do presentations is Oracle picks topics (for Oracle Employees) and then they have slots open for customer speakers, ACE members, etc. This year they are doing it on a voting system. I submitted my idea above.
I will be attending OpenWorld this year (haven't registered yet) and if anyone wants to meet for drinks, coffee, socializing, I am very approachable.
The event is a awesome! About 45,000 people there last year and I am assuming more with the purchase of BEA this past season. Great keynote sessions, plenty of activities, and they put on quite the concert last year with 3 headliners (Lenny Kravitz, Billy Joel, and Stevie Nixx).
So, log in and vote or suggest your own idea.
    Cheers,
    Greg Rekounas

    Hey Gary,
I am approximately the same distance from the UK as I am from SF. Last years even had people from all over. I spoke to a couple of guys from Germany that had installed Oracle Lite on BMWs. Very cool!
I think there was about 17 in my session and about 18 in the session after mine. I had a fair amount of questions during my own session and then people were asking me things in the next persons session.
Overall the experience was great. The Oracle Lite product team is a good group of individuals and they do listen to what you have to say. I am looking forward to seeing them again this year.
