  • Next Build of Oracle XE Available for Download?

When will the next build of Oracle XE be available for download?
Currently I have a painful problem of being unable to import large HTML DB (2MB SQL files) Applications. I tried this thread:
Problem with importing HTML DB applications
However, it does not work for me and the problem seems so profound it probably requires a new build. In this current state, XE is not particularly useful for me... :(

We should have another Windows beta drop in a day or two. However this is only fixing some of the well known installation problems.
Can you please report the nature of your problem so we can see if there is a workaround, and also determine the correct fix ?

Java SE for Business Development Kit 1.4.2 SAP is no longer available for download at http://java.com/en/javaforbusiness/sap_download.jsp (x64 or any other version).
Does that mean that SAP and Oracle not longer have a support agreement for this?

    Hi,
Yes I know that http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/SAPsite/download.html used to work, but it does not exist any more and now redirects to http://java.com/en/javaforbusiness/sap_download.jsp.

  • UMS Portlet (Beta Release) available for download

    What are we announcing?
The beta release of the Unified Messaging Service (UMS) portlet is available for download on Portal Studio from Integration Solutions page. The UMS Portlet makes available to Oracle9iAS Portal users the abilities to send SMS messages, Emails, Voice notifications, Fax and WAP Push messages on a single web interface. These messaging capabilities are provided by the Oracle Notification Service (ONS, formerly the Push Service). By hosting this portlet, you automatically get a free trial account with the ONS service. Please send your comments, suggestions, and evaluations of this beta release on this discussion forum.
    How can I use it?
The Oracle Notification Service (formerly known as Push Service) is an Oracle online service that allows Oracle9i Application Server Wireless and Oracle9iAS Portal users to send SMS messages, Emails, Voice notifications, Fax and WAP Push messages in an easy to access manner without installing any new software. The Oracle Notification Service is hosted at Oracle's data centers and is managed and maintained 24x7 by highly skilled staff. Users connect to it as a Web Service using an XML SOAP API over HTTP/HTTPS. The UMS portlet abstracts this communication and multiprotocol, multidevice complexities for the Oracle9iAS Portal users.
An Oracle9iAS Portal user can sign up for this service and pay per usage. The user of this portlet would need to register and get an account with Oracle9iAS Wireless Service. However, to encourage the use of this service, a trial account of 500 units per IP address has been permitted. For purchasing more units and know more about the pricing mechanism, you can send an e-mail to [email protected]
More information on Oracle9iAS Wireless and Oracle Notification Service is available at http://otn.oracle.com/products/iaswe/content.html
Currently, this portlet allows sending SMS, Voice Mails, E-mails, Fax and WAP Push Messages. Future extensions will include support for Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS).
Using this portlet, a portal user can send the same message as an SMS to people who have mobile phones, as an Email to those who would be at office, as a Voice mail to an employee who is at home and doesn't have access to Emails or mobile phones. For example, this portlet can be used in a hospital web site where the staff can send instant requests to the doctors or can be used in a financial portal which informs users about the changes in his/her stock prices on the device they wish.
    How do I get it?
This portlet is available through the Portal Integration Solutions page (http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=3189&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO) on Portal Studio. You can download this portlet from the Download Integration Portlets page (http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=3191&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO). You would be asked to enter your OTN user details to download the portlet.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Abhinav

    Hi,
I few minor issues with the SMS Portlet have been resolved & the updated version is available for download from the same location.
If you have any queries, please post them at this forum. Your feedback on this portlet would be greatly appreciated.

NI TestStand 4.1 has been released and is available for download.
If your copy of NI TestStand has an active service and support contract (SSP) you will automatically receive the latest version, or you can download TestStand 4.1 from our website.
    TestStand 4.1 Evaluation Software.
NI TestStand Resource Profiler :  The NI TestStand resource profiler analyzes test system execution and identifies instruments bottlenecks to help optimize test sequences.
Intuitive Switch Management: With the new Switch Executive 3.0 developers can create switching code more intuitively with a graphical interface for creating new switch connections and routes.
Hierarchical View of Sequences- The hierarchical view displays a graph containing all sequence calls starting at a given sequence or sequences.
Customizable Result Collection: The new additional results step pane allows developers to add any code module parameter to the result list.  A new step type facilitates adding properties and variables to the result list.
New Tcl Step Types: The new version of NI TestStand includes integration with Tcl scripts through customized step types that allow developers to call Tcl code stored in a script files or evaluate Tcl expressions.  These step types are provided as examples, including source code, allowing customers to customize them for their particular Tcl implementation.
Windows Vista Compatibility: NI TestStand 4.1 supports Windows Vista by running the NI TestStand user interfaces as non-administrator users, and supporting the UI enhancements in Microsoft’s new operating system.
Multicore Support for Parallel Execution: Like LabVIEW, NI TestStand is based on a multi-threaded architecture that can take advantage of multi-core processors.  Developers can use the parallel process models to test multiple units in parallel on different processor cores.
Simple Updating of LabVIEW VIs: With the new Update VI Calls tool developers can easily update the prototypes of all LabVIEW VI’s, including Express VI’s, in a sequence
Improved Advanced Step Settings Editing: Advanced step types, such as those for synchronization, now provide configurable panes that allow users to modify multiple steps at the same time and see the outcome of step properties automatically

    Hi Thomas,
I agree. On my site there will be only 10+ Testers. This week i have received the 4.1.1. SSP paket from NI. At the monenten they were closed!
From upgrading TS2, TS3, to TS4 i dont uninstalled. I just upgraded. So all versions are present on the maschine !
With VersionSelector i switch through the versions i like and figure out if everything is working well under latest version.
Another thing NI should think about is LabViewVersions and TS:
I have TS2.0 programms that use dll from VC6,8 or CVI6,7,8 in the same file. They run under all new TS versions without any modifications!!
But it is impossible to  run vis from LV6,7,8  under the same TS. Well masscompile ! but then they wont run under old stuff.
Well i am not afraid of upgrading TS. But of masscompiling a !!TESTED!! vi to new vi-version.

  • When will OAS 4.0.8.1 for NT be available for download?

After I fixed some of the things I broke while searching for the wrksf failure, the PL/SQL Cartridge now works for me too. And, after failing to get the DB Browser to work by loading it into the SCOTT schema, I got it to work by loading it into SYS. (SCOTT can't see the DBA_* views so loading the DB Browser into the database failed.) I haven't tried any Java Servlets yet, but that's next on my list.
If you want to try my wrksf workaround, rather than using Christoph's, here's how you can do it.
    1. Backup liborb.so in the $ORACLE_HOME/orb/4.0/lib directory, just in case something goes wrong.
    2. Using a hex editor, such as emacs hexl-find-file or ghex, to edit liborb.so, find the string "/proc/stat".
    3. Change the directory, "/proc" to something like "/pfoo" and write the shared library file back to liborb.so. You now have the required modified liborb.so.
    4. Make the /pfoo directory and cp /proc/stat /pfoo.
    5. Edit /pfoo/stat and duplicate the first line, which should be the cpu line. This will let the metrics parser handle it. Make sure that /pfoo/stat has read access.
Of course, the values that the metrics code gets are now bogus, but that does not seem to be a fatal problem.
Hopefully somebody from Oracle is reading this and the real fix will be in the mail soon.

     Hi Stormycloud,
The problem is resolved. Today, on both of my R500 machines,  Update Retriever informed me that the 64 bit version of the Ultranav utility was available for download. On both of my machines I then downloaded the driver. I was then able to use System Update to install the driver. Thank-you. Case closed.
