I have knowledge of both Oracle8 and Java. I live in India. I want a good job.
I have started a group on Oracle and Java discussion. one can join that by :

any sax parsers?What version of Java are you using? With Java 1.4 the XML parser is included in the SDK / JRE.
If you're using an older version of Java, go to http://xml.apache.org and get the Xerces parser.

Hi Vikrant,
Since you are more interested towards HR than ABAP, in long term you can think of moving into SAP HCM functional career. And to be able to work as a functional consultant, you need to have good amount of business process knowledge. Considering this you can start working in core HR and gain domain experience and move your career later towards functional area.
And more over you have ABAP HR experience,this will be very handy when you are a functional consultant.

SQLJ compiler in oracle for Java

Hi all
I just stated talking to a client who uses SQLJ and he need some of my help to do some maintenance.
So I am setting up my laptop with oracle to have static SQL in java code.
I have setup classpath and path accordingly. My oracle home is c:\appl\ORA9i
Path has
c:\appl\ORA9i\BIN
Classpath has
c:\appl\ORA9i\\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip;
When I type SQLJ it gives me below, (Looks like it is seaching for a tool folder which I don't have) SQLJ.exe is in c:\appl\ORA9i\BIN.
C:\>sqlj
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sqlj/tools/Sqlj
C:\>
Can someone please guide me how to get my SQLJ pre-compiler running to get my Java work done?

Are Oracle spatial java libraries redistributable?

Hi,
Do you have any idea about Oracle's policy on distributing Oracle Spatial Java Class Libraries? Can our software that is targeted for commercial purpose distribute it?
We are using these SDO java libraries.
oracle_sdo.jar
sdoapi.jar
sdogr.jar
sdonm.jar
sdotopo.jar
sdoutl.jar
Also if redistribution is not allowed, can our users having Oracle DB license, copy these libraries from their Oracle DB machine to the machine where our product is installed.
Please guide us to appropriate web link on this topic. We could not get clear information by going through Oracle sites.

I am new in Java World.
I need guidence how to start Java whether i have to prepare my self for Java Certifications. I have studied about JAVA certifcations on internet. I found that there are two basics certifcations from where i can start. 1 is SCJA and other is SCJP. I am confsed whether i should prepare for SCJA or SCJP. I have also 4 years experiece in Oracle Development (Forms 6i and Oracle 9i).
Can anyone guide me what should i do. whether i should go for SCJA or SCJP. mind i m totally new in Java I have studied java in my univeristies year I dont have any practical experience in Java Programming.
If you suggest about SCJA/SCJA then from where i can get the course contents of SCJA or SCJA.
Please Guide me in this regard.

Rather then directly jumping to certification, its gud to get comfortable with java. There are number of tutorials available at sun's site and on net or u can go for any beginner book of java.
Read it try to understand the concepts and then u can prepare for SCJP.

Oracle Demantra Workflow Job Monitoring

Hi Oracle,
An issue with work flows in long running status. Error ed workflow in demantra schema. This need to be monitored.
In Demantra schema, WF_PROCESS_LOG table stores Demantra workflows.
I need to design
Workflow monitoring alert, either through Demantra Alert Manager Or SCP Alert Manager responsibility Or Cron job. . Please guide me in this enhancement of this feature.
My current env..
Demantra - 7.3.2
ASCP -- 12.1.3

We had developed custom code which from within our EBS environment allows us to submit Demantra Workflows.
Once there, the code keeps on looping through the following check to see if the specific workflow has been completed:
SELECT COUNT(*)

AND status = 1
AND process_id = buff;
where: v_schema_id = identified of the particular workflow submitted & buff = unique process ID to watch (as there could hypothetically be multiple processing running, not likely here, but in theory they could)...this info can be obtained from:

where: v_schema = name of the workflow being submited

From previous posts you will see that I consider studying for 1z0-144 (the more modern exam) to be far more beneficial than study for 1z0-147 )the older exam). The reason i the more modern exams are more focused on topics on what a candidate needs to know to do the job.

Need Expert Advice regarding oracle and java objects

In our project, we are submitting data for many screens at a time. Some screens will have a list of records to be submitted. There is also some hierarchy among the data up to 4 levels.
In such a scenario, we need to know the best way to exchange data between Oracle and Java. Currently java holds the data as objects, where each object may contain an array of next level of objects in it.
Is it best approach to pass the entire data with hierarchy to Oracle using nested table approach and internally oracle handling the data? Is there any other way to do this?
Also in some scenarios we need to pass the entire information for all the screens in one shot with the hierarchy. So we need to know a solution for that also. Could you please help us in this regard?

BI Scheduler Java Jobs not working with 11.1.1.6

Hello,
I wrote a scheduler java job following the documentation found here

It worked fine on OBIEE 11.1.1.3 and 11.1.1.5 but now i made a fresh installation of OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 and it does't work anymore.
When i try to run the job from job manager the nqscheduler.exe process starts taking 50% of CPU and nothing happens
The steps i made after installing OBIEE are:
1. copy the jar file in ORACLE_HOME\bifoundation\javahost\lib
2. edit JavaHost configuration file
<Scheduler>
<Enabled>True</Enabled> <DefaultUserJarFilePath>E:\<ORACLE_HOME>\bifoundation\javahost\lib</DefaultUserJarFilePath>

For a NW04s studio these paths are not correct, the plugin directories have some version suffix.

Oracle Clusterware and Oracle Real Application Clusters Install Guide

I've downloaded the latest "Oracle Database - Oracle Clusterware and Oracle Real Application Clusters Install Guide - 10g Release 2 (10.2) for HP-UX PA-RISC" (part no. B14202-01) dated August 2005 from OTN. I'm getting the following error when opening the pdf file in Adobe Reader:
"Cannot extract the embedded font 'PEPPLC+Palatino-Italic'. Some characters may not display or print properly."
When I print the manual, I get blank pages throughout the document which, in my opinion, should contain text and don't. Specifically pages 1-11, 2-5, 2-19, 2-24, 2-33, 3-5, 3-19 to name a few. When I go to those pages within the pdf file in Adobe Reader, I get the error: "There was a problem reading this document (114)."
Can you verify this problem on your end. Also, how do I get a good copy of this document?

Search for the part B14202-01 and click: pdf at top right. Part B14202-01 documentation pdf is currently displaying and printing on this end. The blank pages at the end of each main topic are inserted on purpose.
