  • Oracle VM Templates for OEBS Release 12.1.3 Vision Media - missing files

I downloaded all 11 parts ( 8 - DB and 3 - APPS) for this media pack template - Oracle VM Templates for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 Vision Media.
Per the media pack README I unzipped each file and and then concatenated (and gunzipped) them into directories for DB and APPS respectively. According to the media pack README there should be README.txt and System.img files in each directory in addition to the template .img file and vm.cfg files. Neither directory contains README.txt or System.img files, and only the APPS directory contains a vm.cfg file. Both directories do include a template .img file.
    # ls -l OVM_OL5U6_X86_64_EBIZ12.1.3_DB_VIS_PVM
    total 48004528
    -rw-------. 1 root root 49156626432 Apr 16 17:17 ebs1211db.img
    # ls -l OVM_OL5U6_X86_64_EBIZ12.1.3_APPS_VIS_PVM
    total 16065672
    -rw-------. 1 root root 16451237888 Apr 17 08:35 ebs1211apps.img
    -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 448 Feb 24 2011 vm.cfg
When I put each directory into a tar ball and attempt to import either template, they fail with an error message indicating the System.img does not exist...because it doesn't.
Are the README.txt and System.img files missing from the template,? Do i need to download the template again?
Any insight and assistance is appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Phil

I answered my question and/or discovered the issue. To get the Oracle VM Template (8 parts) in question to the server where there was space to extract them, I had to copy them between servers. The first time I copied them I did it via an NFS mount and apparently some corruption resulted causing the template to not import successfully. I deleted the template parts from the destination server and Hi Phil, Can you please explain how you managed to import the files once after copying to the destination? ie, until now I was using FTP to download the templates(which are in .tgz format)
copied them a second time via scp. This time the files were intact and the template imported successfully to the OVM Manager. Issue resolved.I am kind of a beginner with Oracle VM environment and completely lost with making it easier to import the templates. I mean, following the readme.txt I unzipped the files, which created the four files for application and database tiers and then I used to tar repack them (following a suggestion received from another thread) and then imported them through a FTP session
The entire activity took almost two and half days, when an alternative method as what you mentioned looks quite feasible to implement, especially while dealing with large templates like the ones for E-Business suite. Hence please answer the following:
What do you mean by secure copying to target file. Does it mean you copied the template elements to a particular folder with VM Server?
Once after copying the files using secure copy, how did you import them?
What is your VM environment? A lot of things have changed with VM Server 3.1.1, the OVS/seed_pool structure is not any further available and the template import has been restricted to http, https or FTP sessions.
Please supply the details, if possible

  • Oracle VM and Oracle VM Template for Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c M

    Hello!
After installation of *"Oracle VM 3.1.1 Media Pack v1 for x86_64 (64 bit)"* to bare hardware
can I install Oracle VM Template for Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Media Pack ?
Is it the wrong plan ?
What to do if I need to set VLAN №1 ? (according note of installer I have to choose number between 2 and 4094 )

Yes, you can install Oracle VM Manager, create a server pool with the one parent Oracle VM server in it, and then deploy the Oracle VM template in the pool. Once EM VM is up and running, you can register the same Oracle VM Manager with EM, to manage the pool.
In general, it is not recommended that you use the OVM server backend directly. But for bootstrapping the EM environment, you can also try the following:
Download the OVM Template on the Oracle VM server. From the OVM server terminal itself you can do "xm create" to spin a new virtual machine using the Oracle VM teamplate. Once the VM comes up, VNC into the VM and configure the EM OMS and agent.

  • Oracle VM Template for Siebel 8

Oracle now provides an Oracle VM template for Siebel 8. Once you have downloaded the template, they say it only takes about 30 minutes to setup your entire Siebel installation!
The template includes the industry version of Siebel 8 and the Oracle 11g database configured with the Siebel schema. More info is available here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/vm/templates.html

  • Oracle VM templates for Database 12c & OVM2

Oracle has recently released new VM templates for 12c database:
    https://blogs.oracle.com/wim/entry/oracle_vm_templates_for_database
According the documentation it can be deployed either on Oracle VM version 2 or 3.
I've followed instructions to create a single instance VM (64bit) without a problem.
However I'm having difficulties during the first boot:
PowerOn Failed : Result - failed:<Exception: return=>failed:<Exception: ['xm', 'create', '/OVS/running_pool/1817_CIT-DEV-DB/vm.cfg']=>Error: Boot loader didn't return any data!
We are using Oracle VM version 2. Was anyone successful with installation on VM2 ?
    Jan

I see Oracle's documentation is stating the VM is built on top of Oracle Linux 5 U9 - but in fact the 12c VM is actually using 6 U3
In that case the issue looks similar to this  Linux system administrator and Oracle DBA guide: How to startup OL6 as PVM under Oracle VM 2.X
So question for Oracle: Is installation on OVM2 supported as per documentation (and there is a bug in the VM template or in our VM2 installation) or it's a bug in the documentation and only OVM3 is supported ?

  • Building Oracle VM Template for Exalogic

We're upgrading our Exalogic system to support virtualization and we'd like to create Exalogic-specific templates using OVAB. The problem is that we can't find an Exalogic-specific system base image that we can use for the template. When I try using the base image provided by OVAB, it complains about base image and tells me to install the "Oracle VM template configure tool RPM" I haven't been able to find that either.
Can anyone tell me where I can get either an Exalogic-specific base image or the "Oracle VM template configure tool RPM"? Thanks very much.

    try this
    Login to edelivery
Select a Product Pack - Oracle Fusion Middleware
    Platform - Linux x86-64
    Then, click Go
Click on Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software 11g Media Pack
Then download - Oracle Exalogic 2.0.1.1.0 Base Guest Template for Exalogic Linux x86-64 (64 bit) - V33449-01

  • Fix Cheque position in RTF Templates for AP Payments R12

    Hi,
I created rtf template for check printing. I have to print invoices details first and after that check at the bottom of the page. I need to print invoices on the cheque page only when total invoice count < = 3 which I am able to control. I am facing issue when for 3 invoices the table height is variable, depends on invoice description this table size is changing. How I can give the fixed-height for invoice table or how I can specify exact place for check (at the bottom of each page )
    Thanks
    Mital

    Hi Prakhar,
Please note the cheque is not an image its in a table.
Even if I fix a table using table positioning in the output it doesnot print at the fixed position which I have provided in my RTF.
Please let me know if you would want to see the sample XML Data and RTF that I have created which can be easier to debug.
    Thanks for your help,

  • Partitioning Advice For E-business R12 Vision Install Using OEL6

    Hi,
I am planning to do a fresh install of OEL to use as Oracle R12 test bed with Vision demo database.
Not planning to dual boot. OEL will be the only OS used.
Unfortunately, after spending the past few days I still couldn't determine the optimal partition scheme for my install.
I have a desktop system with the following configuration:
    I5-3570K
    128GB SSD
    750GB HDD
    8GB RAM
I'm relatively new to Linux and as such do not understand much in terms of the partition scheme.
    Awaiting your responses.
    Best Regards.

A SSD drive is not bound to the same physical aspects and performance limitations like a conventional hard disk. However, it's news to me that you cannot or should not partition a SSD drive. Where did you see this information?
You can create a /var and /tmp partition, but I any unnecessary partition will complicate your setup for no good reason. You can also create a swapfile and thereby increase your swap space on demand if necessary, instead of using a fixed swap partition. Why do you think installing a /var and /tmp partition will make any difference for your self-study environment?
Your /boot partition needs to be on the startup drive, e.g. SSD drive. Your root (/) partition can be anywhere else, provided it can be accessed. Why would you use the SSD drive for root and put /var and /tmp on HDD? I can't see how +/- a couple of GB will make any difference on your SSD drive.
If you need advice about the setup of Oracle EBS you better post your question in the appropriate Oracle EBS forum. Regarding the OS and general database configuration, my previous response still applies.

  • ANNOUNCEMENT: Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.1  Oracle VM Templates

I'm pleased to announce the availability of Oracle Virtual Machine Templates for E-Business Suite 12.1.1.
Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.1 OVM Templates Media Packs (32-bit and 64-bit) Now Available
Each media pack includes 2 OVM templates: one for database-tier nodes and one for middle-tier nodes. The templates deliver the results of a 12.1.1 Rapid Install with Vision demo database.
You can now create E-Business Suite database-tier and middle-tier virtual machines on the Oracle Virtual Server platform. On first boot of the virtual machines, administrators will be prompted to initialize the machine and E-Business Suite instance information, which then persists to future boots of that virtual machine.
Note that Oracle Virtual Server platform has been certified with E-Business Suite for a couple of years, but this is the first time we have published OVM templates created by E-Business Suite Development.
Where are Templates and Additional Information Available From?
Our E-Business Suite OVM Templates are announced on external oracle.com page: [http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/vm/templates/ebs.html|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/vm/templates/ebs.html]
There we list details on how to obtain the templates from Oracle E-Delivery. We have created a Deployment Guide to quickly educate users on core OVM technology and template use details.
For any questions you might have, we have created this external forum.

  • I am trying to find a business plan template for use in pages and numbers

    Hi,
I am trying to find a template for a business plan for a start up company to allow me to submit and idea and costings to get financial investment.
There are lots available on the net but they are mostly written for WORD.

    Glad someone does Peggy.
The notification system seems to be quite sporadic.
I go to get links for FAQs and occassionally spot the odd irrelevant comment and spam, but really unless it is totally off the wall I leave them be. At least for a month or two, then clean them off just so it doesn't bury the valuable stuff.
Been thinking about reconstructing the entire thing using WordPress so I can get better control over the layout and sort them imto more logical groups. I have trouble locating stuff I know is there and I pity the newcomer who doesn't even know it exists.
