  • How to install Oracle 9i (9.2.0.2) in Windows Server 2003 x64 - Intel Xeon

I have tried to install Oracle 9i (9.2.0.2) in Windows Server 2003 x64 Enterprise Edition with Intel Xeon (EM64T) processors.
When I run setup.exe I get an error: "The image file C:\Documents and settings\administrator.SERVERNAME\my documents\92021 win64_disk1\setup.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine".
I have to install Oracle 9i in that server but I can't run the installation. Is there a way to solve this problem, is there a patch that can solve this? Anyone know something about this problem?
    Thanks a lot!!!
    I'm desperated!!

    Hi,
    reply to my own question:
In the docs provided with the downloads for Oracle Database Server 9i x64, I found that this version requires either
    - Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition for 64-Bit Itanium 2 Systems
    or
    - Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition for 64-Bit Itanium 2 Systems
So I guess, the only X64 platform being supported under Windows Server 2003 (both Datacenter / Enterprise Editions) is Itanium CPUs ...
... though this is not (!!!) clearly stated in the download link (other/newer versions are listed more precisely - I guess it's a matter of an old link: no Intel Xeon / AMD Opterons were available (???) when Oracle 9i database server was published).
So I'll give it a try with 10g database server ;-)))

    Thomas Heß

  • Upgrade Oracle 11.1.0.6.0 x64 to Oracle 11.1.0.7.0 for Windows Server 2008

    Hi,
I am a little confused because I have Windows Server 2008 64 bit operating system and had installed Oracle 11g 11.1.0.6.0 (x64) prior to the Oracle 11g 11.1.0.7.0 for Windows Server 2008 install package becoming available.
My database needs no backup of data as it is a fresh installation so its removal is not a problem.
To now upgrade to Oracle 11g 11.1.0.7.0 for Windows Server 2008 do I need to
    a) Uninstall Oracle 11.1.0.6.0 (x64) and then install Oracle 11.1.0.7.0 on Windows Server 2008
    or
    b) Apply patch 6890831 (will this upgrade from 11.1.0.6.0 x64 to 11.1.0.7.0 for Windows Server 2008?)
Any help much appreciated as having looked at documentation I am still confused what I need to do.
    Thanks.

  • Windows Server 2008 x64 and Crystal Reports Server Embedded

We're attempting to certify our software with Windows Server 2008 x64 and want to know the best way to configure both the server and client of Crystal Reports Server Embedded.  Currently, our software is certified against Windows Server 2003 x86, and we install Crystal Reports Server Embedded XI Release 2 (no SP) on the application server, and we deploy the Crystal Reports .NET merge modules for XI Release 2 (no SP) on any client machines.
I believe I am correct in stating that no version of Crystal Reports Server Embedded officially supports Windows Server 2008 x64 (based on some other forum postings) until SP1 comes out (which I don't think has happened at this point).  If that is true, we can live with installing the RAS on a separate Windows Server 2003 x64, if that's even possible.  With that said, can we even get our Windows Server 2008 x64 running with the latest Crystal Reports 2008 .NET merge modules?  We've tried many different configurations between CR XI R2 SPs and CR 2008 for both client and server and have very little luck (either it won't install correctly because of x64 or missing .cabs, etc.) on both the client and server side of things.
Can someone suggest the optimal configuration when Windows Server 2008 x64 is in the mix, noting that we can use a secondary Windows Server 2003 (x64 preferred but can fallback to x86)?  Or do we have to wait for Crystal Reports Server Embedded 2008 SP1 to be released, and if so, does anyone know of the date?
    Thanks,
    Ross Beehler

CRSE 2008 is a 32 bit app, it works on 64 bit OS's but all parts must also be running in 32 bit mode.

  • Windows Server 2008 x64 on T61P?

    Hi Everyone,
Just got my T61P with Vista x64 pre-installed - love my Thinkpad!   However, like just about everyone on the planet I'm disappointed with Vista and would like to install Windows Server 2008 x64 Standard (no hyper-v) just like on my office desktop computer.  If you have not yet run Windows Server 2008 it is an *outstanding* OS, as good and wonderful and just right as Vista is, well... annoying.
Anyone installed Windows Server 2008 x64 on their Thinkpad T61P?  My experience with the office desktops is that so far Vista x64 drivers work just fine on Server 2008 x64.  Any tips?
    Thanks in advance!

Erik - Thanks for the info!
I use 64-bit applications ... some notes on why:
enterprise supports up to 32GB of memory so the argument to use x64 for memory support is nullified.
... that's not correct.  x64 windows versions allow 64-bit addressing, so 64-bit applications created for x64 windows can take advantage of large amounts of cheap RAM as 32-bit applications cannot.  32-bit applications (they are all 32-bit applications in a 32-bit Windows version, even in Server 2008) are restricted to a limited process space of at most 2 GB.
It's true there is a LARGEADDRESSAWARE kludge to enable limited use of up to 3 GB by a user process (and there is an equivalent to this in Server 2008),  but this has gone nowhere because it is far more straightforward and more productive for an applications developer to simply go 64-bit rather than invest any engineering resources into a one-of-a-kind kludge for an era that is already past.
Yes, it is true that if you are stuck running 32-bit applications you have less incentive to use x64 windows.  But going true 64-bit is a huge advantage in reliability and performance.  Given the very low cost of RAM in modern times it makes sense to do so, even in notebook settings that are often limited to only 4 GB of RAM.  64-bit applications in Windows tend to have decisive performance and reliability advantages so whenever one competitor in a given segment makes the jump to 64-bit pretty much all of them must do so.

  • Windows Server 2008 x64 on Bootcamp: Ethernet drivers missing/not working

    Hello folks,
at the moment I try to get Windows Server 2008 x64 running on a new Mac Pro (Early 2009).
Installation of Windows Server 2008 x64 (Enterprise) worked out of the box. However, the ethernet drivers do not work. Ethernet cards are not detected and working due to missing drivers.
I have tried several different Intel driver packages. All of them report "No intel card found.". However, the vendor ID of the ethernet card clearly points to Intel.
I have not been able to find a driver yet, does anyone have an idea?
E.g. does someone know the exact chip name? The driver "name"? Anything else?
    Thank you in advance,
    Stefan

That's the problem. DG4ODBC on 64bit Windows is 64bit and thus it also requires a 64bit ODBC driver.
If you don't find one - maybe you can install DG4ODBC 32bi on a 32bit platform (please do NOT install it on the 64bit Windows machine) and then use this 32biit DG4ODBC with the 32bit ODBC driver.
Another option would be to purchase a commercial ODBC driver or a bridged ODBC driver.

  • Oracle 8.1.7.3 client on Windows Server 2008 64bit

    Hi all!
I'm a newbie to Oracle and this forum, so please be gentle...:)
I'm trying to install Oracle 8.1.7.3 client on a 64bit Windows Server 2008, without success. Best result I got so far is 'installed' client and provider, but unable to run the config tools, or use the provider. I installed the same client on a 32bit version of Win Server 2008 and it worked with few minor tweaks.
Reason I'm doing this is trying to integrate an old legacy Oracle 7 database with SQL Server 2008 using linked servers.
Upgrading to a recent version is not an option.
Anyone has any guidelines? please help, this is driving me nuts!
    Thanx,
    Igor

The client is included. Download it and start the installation. It should give you an option to select 'client only'.

"Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\Program Files (x86)\PHP\ext\php_oci8.dll' - %1 is not a valid Win32 application. in Unknown on line 0"
So that, the phpinfo doesn't show the enabled module. Doesn't Oci8 work with 64 bytes systems?
    I'll appreciate your help.
    Thank you,

I have a Windows 2008 x64 server, with 11gR2 (64 bits) and PHP installed. In my case ZendServer 5.0.3. What I did is I replaced, in the ZendServer bin directory, the light dll (oraociicus11.dll) with the full dll of the 32 bit Instant Client (oraociei11.dll). I had to do this because the softlink approach did not work for me, and neither putting an entry in PATH to the 32 bit Instant Client. Maybe ZendServer behaves differently from PHP in this respect.
My question is, I used to access the local DB (I need to access both a local DB and a remote one) without going through tnsnames.ora, e.g. like this ,
    $c = oci_connect('USER', 'PASS');
    this would connect me directly to the local DB. I cannot do this anymore, I have to give the local information as in $c = oci_connect('USER', 'PASS', '//localhost/SID');
I tried to set the ORACLE_SID env var but that did not help. Will I not be able anymore to connect locally without the connection string in oci_connect?
    Thanks

  • Windows Server 2008 x64 SP2 SAN disks falls off

    Hello!
We have a Windows Server 2008 Standart SP2 x64, which is connected via two HBAs QLogic QLA2440 to a Storage Xyratex F5402. On DS5402 are located three LUNs for the corporate file storage. These LUNs are displayed in Windows Server as local disks E F G.
As the MPIO software it is used Xyratex Storview Pathmanager 6.00.5016.14 (Microsoft MPIO Driver 6.0.6002.18005) in Failover\Failback configuration, and three disks are adjusted for work on three different ways.
It is all normally worked since 2008
But problems have begun with the beginning of this year.
In operation time any of the SAN disks falls off. With a F5402 all is normal and its logs there are no errors.
In Windows Event System Log the folowing errors and warnings:
EventID: 515, Source: xyrsp200 (Xyratex F5402E Multi-Path Device Specific Module). The path for logical drive [SN: 60050CC00020188D0000000000000007] has failed over to [0005 4:0:1:2] because of a path error.
EventID: 23, Source: mpio. Errors in all ways. \Device\MPIODisk2 it will be removed.
EvetID: 260, Source: xyrsp200 The active path on logical drive [SN: 60050CC00020188D0000000000000007] has been switched to the preferred path on [0005 5:0:0:2].
EventID: 15, Source: disk. Access to the device \Device\Harddisk5\DR5 while is impossible
    and further an disk erors...
Disk reloading in Windows Disk Manager doesn't help. I am compelled to reboot the server. After reboot all works as though anything and wasn't to the following such case.
As fall off not all LUNы at once (one can fall off, others and will to work normally) a problem probably either in Windows or in Xyratex Storview Pathmanager.
After adjustment of monitoring I have found out that at the moment of failure the current queue of a falling disk was 6 and the size of operation of record on a disk has sharply increased.
May be the disk simply hasn't sustained loading (though strange - Fiber-Chaneell, and High-Perfomance Disks Storage). In Windows it can be somehow possible to optimize operations of work with disks that there were no such falls.
    I need a help !!!

    Hello
I've configured my SCOM service on windows server 2008 r2 sp1, and it's database is placed on 2 disks on SAN storage (HP p9000). since MPIO is configured, sometimes SCOM was stop working. I looked Disk management console and I saw DB disks were gone! This problem
solves when I restart the server. This was happening frequently and I've changed the MPIO configuration policies. that get better but it was happening in a bit longer periods.
I searched and found out I have to install Fibrechannel hotfix (fcinfo_amd64) and Windows6.1-KB2470949-v2-x64 and the mentioned patch above. I did this and for last 3 months that was ok but last night it happens again.
It is our monitoring system and send very important messages. please help me.
    may be this information helps:

  • Problem calling COM Object on Windows Server 2008 x64

    Hi,
We are using 32 bits COM object called in Coldfusion page on 32 bits OS. It works fine since few years.
Now we need to use it on x64 Windows Server 2008 and 64bits IIS.
As I 've seen (http://www.coldfusionjedi.com/forums/messages.cfm?threadid=87869C67-B1 9B-288F-F32B6E8BAB3228CA ),a 64 bits process can only call 64 bits DLL.
So we created a 64 bits Wrapper like this : http://www.dnjonline.com/article.aspx?id=jun07_access3264
But  calling 64 bits COM Object still raises the same error (" The cause of  this exception was that: java.lang.RuntimeException: Can not use  native  code: Initialisation failed") whereas it works fine with a 64 bits  executable created in .NET for example.
Is there a known issue about this subject?
Sorry for english , I'm a french developper.
    Thanks in advance.

Can somebody please share the solution for this issue?
I am facing similar issue with Windows 2012 R2 x64 OS and Excel 2007(32-bit) combination.
I tried couple of things like Excel is able to Open an existing workbook on my system but fails to
create a new Workbook as done by invoking the "Add" command. It fails with Error 800a03ec.
I tried creating the two folders i.e. C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\Desktop & C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop, but could not get it working.

  • Trying to install OEM 10g Grid Control agent on Windows Server 2008 x64

Received the following when trying to install OEM 10.2.0.2 for Windows 32 bit. I believe Windows 64 bit version does not exist. I have installed this on 2003 x64 in the past.
    Error message:
Checking operating system version: must be 4.0, 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2. Actual 6.0

Is there a workaround or a version that will install on 2008 x64?
    Thanks.

  • Windows Server 2008 x64 Trial Install

    Problem: Error code: 0x80070070.
Situation: I have three drives. C:, D:, and E:. Drive C is my current OS, Win7 Pro x64. Drive D is my main storage drive for videos, music, etc... Drive E is a terabyte drive that is partitioned in half. I am trying to install Server 2008 onto partition
2 of the drive but at about 3% of the install, I get the above error code.
I have already tried deleting both partitions on drive D, even deleting the System Reserved partition. I created a bran new partition on Drive D and tried to install again but I received the same error.
For the media, I am using a 4GB flash drive. I used the Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool, found here: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool. Is my media formatting wrong? I have completely formatted
the USB in diskpart by cleaning it and deleting any partitions on it and creating a new one.
Any help I can get with this issue would be great, thanks!

  • B1DIEvent Service on Windows Server 2008 x64 - installation hanging

I'm trying to install the B1DIEvent Service on a Windows 2008 x64 Server but the installation is not completing. It does create the directories in the SAP folder but the installer hangs at roughly 95%.
It seems to not be able to register the service on the server.
Does anyone know if there would be compatability issues with Wondows 2008 Server x64? Or are there any speciffic steps that I can take to install this?
I have installed MSMQ on the server.
    Any help would be appreaciated.
    Best wishes
    Edu van Zyl

    Hi Edu,
Did you followed the instructions compiled in the other threads showing how to recompile the dll???
Just follow step by step what is described there, it should work.
DI EVENT SERVICE ON 64 SERVER
    1. Change compilation option to x64
    2. You have to replace the following 2 lines modified marked with:
    char msg[ 398 ]; // Old was mgs[378]
    sock, msg, 398, 0, (const struct sockaddr*)&sAddr, sizeof(struct
    sockaddr_in));
    3. Replace the old dll by the new one compiled
    4. Don't forget to register the dll (after compiling and copying in the right folder):
    C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64>regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business
One DI Event Service\SAP Business One DI Event Server\SBO_SP_TransactionNotification\B1DIEventsSender.dll"
Both Ad and Andres succeeded to do it.
    Hope it helps
    Trinidad.
