    Hello Gina,
it seems like you have not installed all the needed RPM packages - to be absolutely sure we would need the installActions log file itself.
Check metalinknote #317627.1 for further information about the RPMs.

  • Error: Oracle Forms Designer has stopped working

I have read a lot of different responses regarding this and related issues but none of the answers seem to be relative to my specific problem. Here is what I have done so far:
    a. I just finished loading Oracle 11g 64x enterprise on my laptop running windows 7. It loaded correctly and I was able to import my 10g data dump and set up my schema.
    b. I then installed the Oracle development suite: ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1 and disk2. There were some minor issues regarding compatibility but following the advise of one post, I checked the blocks in question and the software loaded fine.
    c. I also attempted to install the p5969392_10123_WINNT.zip file but it gave a message indicating that no updates applied. (I am not sure if this is the correct patch or not?)
    d. I also had to download and install the Sun SDK, v6.18.
    e. I also updated the ORACLE paths in the default.env and registry entries and tried different urls in the runtime preference block. Nothing helped and I stayed with the default.
Oracle Forms seems to startup correctly and I am able to connect to the database with no problem. Although I did not build a new form completely, it appears that this would be no problem.
    The problem:
The problem is that when I attempt to open a form that was previously developed in 10g on XP, I immediately get the "Oracle Forms Designer has stopped working" error and Forms Builder shuts down. I get the same error whether I attempt to open a library, menu, or form.
I have tried changing the compatibility mode from XP, service pack 3 (the default after install) to XP, service pack 2 but it made no difference.
If anyone has been able to work through this issue, please let me know how. Thanks

  • Install the oracle patch with OPatch

    Hi:
the error "ORA 3106" happened when the BW system was drawing out the
data from the CRM system . I found the note "1005758 - ORA 3106 in
Oracle 10.2.0.2",so I downloaded the oracle patch p5092134 and p6646850. I upgraded the opatch version to 10.2.0.2.5 and executed the
command "opatch apply " in the patch "6646850" folder, but the process
stopped at the phase "Backing up files affected by the patch '6646850'

  • Oracle patch in general

I have the following questions to with regards to oracle patch
    1. I learnt from my senior DBA saying that applying patch may bring another bug? is this true? Can you share your experience, if any?
    2. Is this good idea to apply all the patches for a specific version(let's say oracle 11g r1) without consulting Oracle support
       as a best practice?
    3. Whether the patch script will vary for ASM and non-ASM instance? or would be the same?
    4. How the Oracle bug id differs from patch set? In some cases, the patchset is same as bug id? is there any way to distinguish these two terms?
    5. Is there any way to identify the list of patches and bugs fixed by quering the oracle database dictionary?
    6. Is this good idea to apply bunch of patchsets in one-go rather than one by one. I mean apply one patch and waiting for 1-2 weeks and if we don't face any issues apply the second patch and so on.
    7.  Do we need to apply the patch instance by instance (clustered db) or just database?
It would be great if you someone clears my bugging queries on oracle patch.
Thanks so much for knowledge sharing.

    user12075620 wrote:
    Thanks sharma for your response.
Q1: So don't fix it if ain't broke?.  -we may not notice the issue at the initial stage. If we hit the bug after applying series of patches, how will come to know which patch has created this bug? and how to revert?
Ask Oracle. and you should be testing the patch in your test environment first.
Q2: Does it mean we can apply all the up-to-date patches without consulting oracle support?
That's oracle recommendation always to be on latest patch so YES
Q4 : I have seen some cases, the patchset is same as the bug id. That's why I am trying to understand the differences between these two
If this is one-off patch or like patch consist the fix of only that bug-id , you will normally see patch number same as bug number.
q5: I read somewhere we can query the details dba_hist_repository ( something like that). Not sure whether this dictionary will provide all the patches/bugs fixed
I misread your question before. Yes the table name is registry$history
q6 : Here I am talking about only patchsets. Can we apply two patchsets at the same time? If yes, if there are any bug, how are we going to identify which patch set has caused this bug??
Patch sets are commutative. So if you apply latest patch set it will include all previous patches. You can apply multiple single patches.
q7: My question was patchset has to applied instance by instance(let's assume 2 node cluster) or just at the database level? may be novice question for you.
You have apply the patch on all the binaries where instances are running.
Thanks for your time sharma.  Please comment

  • Distinction among  terms: Oracle Patch Set, Oracle Patch Bundle, ecc

    Hi to all,
a customer asked me to update an Oracle database 10.1.3.0 on Windows 32 platform. THe only patches installed are **5556081** and *5557962*..
I looked for new updated patches and I founded some Oracle Recommended Patches ID 756671.1 and Oracle Patch Bundles ID 1207176.1 for 10.2.3.0.
Honestly I don't know how to proceed in the sense that i don't know if it is better to apply these bundle patches or to go directly to Oracle Patch Set 10.2.4.0 or 10.2.5.0 for a better update.
What is the difference between Oracle Patch Bundle and Oracle Patch Set?? and the difference between Oracle patch Set and Oracle Patch Set Update???

Pl clarify what you mean by "10.1.3.0", "10.2.3.0", "10.2.4.0" and "10.2.5.0" - there a no such Oracle versions
    I believe you mean 10.1.0.3, 10.2.0.3, 10.2.0.4 and 10.2.0.5
If so, all of the above are patch sets on top of the base release (10.1 or 10.2). It is always recommended to update to the latest patch set release.
Pl note that both 10.1 and 10.2 are de-supported - you should be using the latest 11gR2 version.
Patch set updates (PSU) are additional bundled fixes on top of patch sets - see this MOS Doc

    Hi ,
You can execute few commands from SAP level, suppose for example if you don't have access to Operating system. But it will be executed  under sidadm user.Opatch utility will executed under orasid user ( concerns if you have Unix flavour ) .
I have used this and it gives the result.

  • System Core Dumped after Oracle patch upgrade 9.2.0.6 to 9.2.0.8

    Hi,
We are continously getting dumps on our BW Central instance server after we did an Oracle patch upgrade from 9.2.0.6 to 9.2.0.8.
    Following is our system environment
    SAP Release.............. "640"
    Application server....... "abci"
    Operating system......... "SunOS"
    Release.................. "5.10"
    Hardware type............ "sun4v"
    Database server.......... "abdb"
    Database type............ "ORACLE"
    Database name............ "ABP"
    Database owner........... "SAPABP"
    SAP kernel............... "640"
    Database version......... "OCI_920 "
    Patch level.............. "175"
Following below is the Core Dump that is generated for any process chains that we schedule on our BW server
    Runtime Errors         SYSTEM_CORE_DUMPED
    Date and Time          14.04.2008 09:26:17
    ShrtText
         Process terminated by signal 11.
    What happened?
The current ABAP program had to be terminated because the
ABAP processor detected an internal system error.
The current ABAP program "SAPMSSY2" had to be terminated because the ABAP
processor discovered an invalid system state.
    What can you do?
Make a note of the actions and input which caused the error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
        date.
    Error analysis
An SAP System process was terminated by an operating system signal.
        Possible reasons for this are:
        1. Internal SAP System error.
        2. Process was terminated externally (by the system administrator).
Last error logged in SAP kernel
        Component............ "Taskhandler"
Place................ "SAP-Server awci_ABP_00 on host awci (wp 5)"
        Version.............. 1
        Error code........... 11
        Error text........... "ThSigHandler: signal"
        Description.......... " "
        System call.......... " "
        Module............... "thxxhead.c"
        Line................. 9780
    How to correct the error
The SAP System work directory (e.g. /usr/sap/c11/D00/work ) often
        contains a file called 'core'.
Save this file under another name.
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and you wish to send
an error message to SAP, include the following documents:
        1. A printout of the problem description (short dump)
To obtain this, select in the current display "System->List->
           Save->Local File (unconverted)".
        2. A suitable printout of the system log
To obtain this, call the system log through transaction SM21.
Limit the time interval to 10 minutes before and 5 minutes
after the short dump. In the display, then select the function
           "System->List->Save->Local File (unconverted)".
        3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
           supply the source code.
To do this, select the Editor function "Further Utilities->
           Upload/Download->Download".
        4. Details regarding the conditions under which the error occurred
or which actions and input led to the error.
    Kindly help.
    Regards
    Sachin

No. If the environment would be wrong the system wouldn´t start up.
Core dumps are in 99 % of the cases program errors (in the SAP kernel or in an interface (libdbora*)), misaligend accesses of data etc.
If you encounter such an error have a look in the C-Stack. If you can´t see where the error is happening opening an OSS call. Most of those errors are fixed by installing the latest patches for the kernel and the database interface.

But I  get message "Download basket request for update has been processed. Unable to add 1 new object(s). The objects are already part of Export and to be processed."
    Help me, please!

    Hi,
Have you looked at this location https://service.sap.com/oracle-download ?
Refer SAP Note 871735 - Current patch set for Oracle 10.2.0 -> Oracle patch set 10.2.0.5
Once you add the Patchset 10.2.0.5 in download basket, you will find the same in Export tab of Download Basket. You will have to get the approval from SAP Export department by raising OSS message with XX-SER-SWFL-EXPORT component. After getting approval for the same from SAP Export dept., then & then only you will able to download it.
