Oracle Patches for Installing Oracle9i R2 on RedHat8 ?

I have downloaded disk1, disk2, and disk3 files from site:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/linuxsoft.html
I have been told that Oracle 9i requires a patch available only from Metalink for it's successful installation on RedHat 8.0, Is it correct.
If so how do I install these patch?

I have been told that Oracle 9i requires a patch available only from Metalink for it's successful installation on RedHat 8.0, Is it correct. This is (officially) an unsupported configuration, so I don't think Oracle provides patches for it. Generally, how to install a patch is explained in the corresponding README file, which comes with every patch.
See the 'Puschitz' site, how to install:

  • Patches for Installing Oracle 9i on Red Hat Enterprise LINUX 3.0 AS

I recently purchased An Oracle Database Enterprise Edition Trial License.
I am attempting to install Oracle 9i on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 3 (RHEL AS 3).
After several unsuccessful attempts and consultation with the FAQs available on the Oracle site I have discovered
that it can not be installed without the following patches.
    P3095277_9204_LINUX.zip
    P3238244_9204_LINUX.zip
    P2617419_210_GENERIC.zip
    P3006854_9204_LINUX.zip
    P3119415_9204_LINUX.zip
Can anyone tell me how I can aquire these patches?
This is for an eval of the product on the platform mentioned above. If I can not complete a successful install,
there is no way for my company to evaluate the product
    and eventually purchase it.
You can contact me at this email address [email protected]

  • Oracle Patches for Partners

    Hi,
We are an Oracle Certified Partner and we need to download some patches to be applied for our Dev and Testing environments (latest patches for Oracle 9iAS environment). However, I find that you need to have a Metalink Login to perform the same. Unfortunately, we do not have a metalink ID as far as I am aware of. What is the method to obtain the required patches?
    Regards,
    Uditha

    Hi Uditha,
To logon to MetaLink you will need your company CSI number. You can obtain your company CSI number by contacting your OPN Primary Admininstrator.
To locate your OPN Primary Administrator log onto the Oracle Partner Network website at www.partner.oracle.com. Log onto the site and once you are on the front page scroll down to the bottom right 'Update Your Profile' portlet. You will see a link to your Primary Administrator.
Should you require further assistance please contact your local OPN Contact. There is a link at the bottom of the OPN web page called 'Contact OPN'. Click on that link and it will ask you what country and then provide you a phone number to call for more assistance.

  • Need p4198954_21_LINUX.zip for installing Oracle9i (9.2.0.4) on EL4 Upate 5

I need Patch 4198954 for the installation of Oracle9i (9.2.0.4) on EL4 Update 5 but I do not have a metalink registration. Therefore, I can't download. Does anybody has a copy?
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance

Someone might have already posted this. For your information in case whoever needs this:
p4198954_21_LINUX is not really important. What it does is it provides the compat-oracle-rhel4-1 and compat-libcwait packages. You can simply download them at Oracle site.

You simply have to find that library and copy it to /usr/X11R6/lib . I installed everything related to X and then found libXpm* in /usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib .

  • Oracle CPU patch for 10.20.4

    Hello,
    Here is my DB version.
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    CORE 10.2.0.4.0 Production
TNS for Solaris: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
I am using SUNOS SPARC 64 bit server. I am going to apply JAN 2010 CPU patch. In the README.html file, i see one step as below.
If CPUOct2009 has not been applied, ensure that MLR (Merge Label Request) bugs 9054847 and 9054851 have been applied.
My question is, how do i ensure that, MLR has been already applied? Any help is highly appreciated.

If patches 9054847 and 9054851 have not been applied, you will need to apply them before proceeding to apply the CPU patch. Pl see the README files of the two patches for install instructions.

  • Howto for install Oracle Client or ODAC for W2k8R2?

    Hi all!
I want know if it gives a Oracle Docu for installing Oracle Client or ODAC for Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit. I have a MS SQL 2008 Server and want make a linked Server to an Oracle 10g RAC-Database (10.2.0.4) and want know if i must only install the Oracle Client or did i also need ODAC?? And i have read, that it is better to install by the Client 32bit and 64bit from Oracle Client. So what is the best way to make a linked Oracle-Server on my MS-SQL 2008 on Windows 2008 R2? Hope someone have a positiv answer. Thx
    Greetz
    Franco

    Hi,
No, you don't need to download the Grid Client infraestructure file. That's a tool to install on servers.
The problem is that you are downloading a version of 11.2 in 64 bits, and 11.1 in 32 bits. So maybe they hay changed something between 11.1 and 11.2 that you dislike.
You could download the 64bit version of 11.1 client, but however, you can manually create a tnsnames.ora if you want. You could use netca for that purpose.

  • How to get and install 10.2.0.3 patch for Oracle XE (express)

Total newby here, pardon the stupid question....
I've installed Oracle XE but I've been told I need the patch that updates the database to 10.2.0.3. I can only find a patch for Vista, I'm on XP. When I go to the metalink(?) page it says I need to have a support ID.
How do I get a support ID (free) for XE, or is there something I'm missing.
    Thx,
    Mark

    1) Just for sanity, I'm assuming that you posted a Metalink Note ID, not a bug. Metalink Note 334968.1 refers to bug 3807408.
    2) The patches referenced in that bug would appear to relate to the Oracle client. Assuming proper licenses, I would expect that you could patch the Oracle clients accessing the XE database and resolve the issue.
    3) The Metalink note references an alternate workaround of installing Visual Studio in a non-default location that doesn't include parenthesis.
