Oracle Performance on 10G with ECC 6.0

We recently upgrade from SAP 46c to ECC 6.0 with Oracle 10G.
I have implemented Note 830576(including underscore parameters) and Note 838725 for creating statistics. We have horrible performance on SAP transactions.
Can someone share their Oracle 10G parameters on ECC 6.0. We have 12GB memory with 2 CPU on the DEV box.
Please help as this is causing issues with Development effort and unit testing.
Thanks
Tony

Tony, applying specific settings for Oracle 10G is definitely a must. However, you will need to make sure that kernel settings are in place for the hardware platform you operate on. Check storage subsystem (if you use EMC or other similar solution). At times storage subsystem may be the culprit.
Then move to Oracle: check for indexes w/ poor storage quality, make sure you rebuild them regularly. Reorganize tables and make sure that the statistics are up to date.
Then move to application layer and start analyzing buffers and in general performance.
good luck

  • Using Oracle Developer Suite 10g with the 10g Express Edition Database

I'm new to Oracle and I'm taking an SQL college level course using a text book entitled "Guide to Oracle 10g". Our text book came with Oracle Developer Suite 10g (9.0.4.0.1) but no database. We adopted the 10g Express Edition (XE) as the database. I have both the database and the Developer Suite loaded on Windows XP Pro. I've been using the database for months now and it runs fine and the Developer Suite installed OK.
However, I would like to use some of the Developer Suite apps (for learning purposes) with the database but I can't seem to log on to the database through the Developer apps when I open them and use my 10g XE database user-name and password. For starters, I would like to see if I could use the edition of SQLPlus (release 9.0.1.4.0) that comes with the Developer Suite because it has configuration options that are not available in the SQLPlus command line version that 10g XE contains (which otherwise works fine).
When I open SQLPlus (Developer Suite Version) and try to log on with my database user name and password (and no host string), I get the error:
    ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
I did search the discussion forum first and also reviewed some Oracle pdf's including the concepts pdf but came up empty. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on how to succeed or a determination of the compatibility of 10g XE with the Developer Suite. Thanks kindly.

I think your last idea might be helpful at this point and in case it matters, they are both installed on a sinlge machine (laptop). Thanks in advance:

  • Integrating Oracle DB (9I, 10g) with COREid

I was wondering if there are any recommendations out ther on how to migrate identities from within an Oracle database (not OID) into the COREid tool.
If it is not possible to talk to COREid, can Oracle databases (9i & 10g) be configured to connect to a secure LDAP with 2 way SSL using PKI certificates?
    Thanks

  • How to front-end Oracle Application Server 10g with Apache 2.0

    Hello,
I have a seperate apache tier from my oracle app tier and I want to use my compiled apache as a web front-end for oracle apps. I have a completely default configuration at the moment.
The only documentation I have been able to find on Oracle's site is in regard to using mod_oc4j.so with Oracle HTTP server.
Is a compiled build of apache supported with mod_oc4j?
Where can I get the mod_oc4j.so module for apache?
Is there any good documentation I can use for installing it?

You mean to say, you found mod_oc4j.so module on Application Server CD ?
It will surely be there, cos it's an Oracle supplied module.
The Oracle HTTP Server is based on Apache 1.3 web server.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25221_04/web.1013/b25211/overview.htm#sthref12
If you already have an Application Server 10g installation then go to:
    $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/libexecTake mod_oc4j.so, mod_rewrite.so modules from here.
LoadModule mod_oc4j in httpd.conf file of Apache:
    LoadModule rewrite_module libexec/mod_rewrite.so
    LoadModule oc4j_module libexec/mod_oc4j.so
Make sure to load mod_rewrite.so before mod_oc4j.
    Restart Apache.

  • Diff between Oracle 9i and 10g with date format MON in FRENCH language

    Hi,
With a session in FRENCH language, when i do:
    SQL> select to_char(sysdate,'dd-mon-yyyy') from dual;
    The result in 10g is:
    TO_CHAR(SYSDA
    27-juil.-2005
    The result in 9i is:
    TO_CHAR(SYS
    28-jul-2005
Where is the problem and how can i have the same result in 10g than in 9i ?
    Thank you for your help.

This behaviour is documented in the Oracle Database 10g Globalization Guide; it also includes the steps on how to revert back to the Oracle 9i locale definitions.
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/server.101/b10749/applocaledata.htm#sthref1769
Please note that 10g is using the correct convention, the Oracle9i locale definition files will be desupported in a future release.

  • Connect oracle application server 10g with oracle database 9i

Hello, I am doing a project with Oracle Application Server and application server can not connect with my Oracle 9i database, how do my version of Oracle Application Server is the 10g, thanks for the help and excuse my English

Well, now it depends how do you want to access your 9i database from Application Server via J2EE application deployed at Application Server or via Portal.
For J2EE application, you can use connect string for your 9i database in datasources.xml of J2EE app.
For Portal application, again it depends what you want to do - create an data entry application or just want to fetch a report based on 9i database.
Hope I have provided answer to your question.
    Regards.

  • What is the best option to upgrade oracle 9i to 10g with standby?

I have a production DB with standby on 9.2.0.6. We plan to upgrade it to 10.2.0.4. The database is about 500GB. The network between primary and DR is limited at 10m bit/second. Primary is at Atlanta and DR is at Virginia.
The choices are, I think, that I can do an upgrade at primary and send the db copy to DR to build the standby db (this may take a whole day at least). Or I can upgrade primary to 10g. At same time bring the standby to normal database to upgrade to 10g and then bring it back to DR mode (can I do this technically?).
What is the best in term of minimum down time? Or do we have any other choices? Thanks.

    Hi
Thanks a lot for prompt reply! My understanding is that you recommend option1:
    Option1 (in my understanding way):
    0. Stop both application and standby database
    1. upgrade primary to 10g
    2. Re-start application to point primary on 10g
    3. Take a backup (eiterh rman or manual hot) - this could take while 3-4 hours
    4. Send backup to standby site - this will be while 6-8 hours
    5. Create a standby control file from primary to send over to standby
    6. Create and start standby DB and let it apply all logs generated during the priod of step 2,3,4,5. (this could be while as the database is very active)
    I thought possible option2:
    Option2:
    0. Stop application, primary, and stadby databases.
    1. Upgrade primary to 10g. At same time, activate the standby to normal db and upgrade it to 10g. At end of the step, hopefull, both primary and standby is still in sync.
    2. Re-start the application to point primary on 10g
    2. Create a standby control file from primary to send over to standby
    3. Create and start stadnby DB and let it apply all logs generated during the period of step 2.
It looks that option2 will be taking shorter time overall as no duplication needed. Would that be possible technically and practically?
    Thanks for any advice!

  • Oracle application server 10g and apex

    Hi allm
Can someone show me a guide on how to use Oracle Application Server 10g with APEX. I'm currently using Oracle HTTP Server but decided to use OAS instead so that I can use the Report Server and the Oracle BI Publisher for the reports.
I'm currently using this guide (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/howtos/howto_useoas10g.html) but I can't seem to find the marvel.conf and the oracle_apache.conf.
Also, is it really necessary to use OAS instead of Oracle HTTP Server if I want to use Oracle BI Publisher?
    Thanks.
    Allen
    Edited by: A.Sandiego on Sep 3, 2008 12:01 AM

    Hi,
    Thanks for the response.
Unfortunately I still get the same problem. Somehow I just can't find the marvel.conf anywhere in my machine. I setup my APEX not by using the companion cd but by downloading the apex_3.1.2 then running the apexins.sql. Then install the Oracle HTTP Server only and configured the dads.conf located in the ORACLE_HTTP_SERVER_HOME/Apache/Apache/mod_plsql/conf. It works perfectly with this.
I then installed Oracle Application Server 10g. I'm trying to figure out how to use this instead of the Oracle HTTP Server.
    Thanks.

  • Oracle Application Server 10g Enterprise Edition

    Hi,
I would like to integrate Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 with Oracle Portal.
Idid some research in metalink and found that Note: 376811.1.
What I understood from the doc is,
    1. install Oracle Application Server 10g Enterprise Edition.
    2. Integrate with EBiz 12.1.1.

  • Oracle forms 9i/10g connecting SQL Server 2000

Could anyone please guide me in detail to connect Oracle Forms 9i/10g with MS SQL Server database?
To connect with Oracle Database, we need to copy and paste the tnsnames.ora file from the Oracle Database folder to the Oracle Forms folder.
But how do i connect with other databases like SQL Server, MS Access, and so on?
    Thanks in advance.

Follwoing is the soluton which I got from orafaq forum:
    <<<<<
I'd go for an ODBC on the database server, using HSODBC. It worked quite well on a data warehouse project using OWB. I fail to see why it wouldn't work for Forms.
    MHE
    >>>>>
Now I'm fully in a confused and frustrated state. Each person is saying different solutions for the problem. One person is saying to connect using ODBC driver while other is saying to connect JDBC driver. Actually which driver should I configure? Also no one is giving a clear picture for the problem.
How can I get a detailed solution for this problem (with screen shots) which include step by step procedure to configure a driver?
So, I would be pleased if you could please guide me with step by step procedure to get connected with Oracle Forms using SQL Server?
Or atleast some reference site where I can find the same.
    Thanks.
