Oracle Perl connectivity
Friends ,
I know that this is a PHP forum and not Perl .
But I could not one suitable for Perl , so posting it here , just assumming that there may be many people with the knowledge .
I am running Oracle 8.1.7 on Redhat Linux 8 , on IBM Pentium 4 PC.
What I want is, I want to run Perl programs with Oracle interface . Want to interact with Oracle database .
Please convey ,
1) What type of software/driver/modules I have to install ? DBI or DBD or what ?
2) Where from I can get that ?
3) How to install that ( I know there will be documents for this ) ?
Please help .
Regards
I believe you'll need both the DBI and DBD modules. You'll need the DBD (DB Driver) and the DBI (DB Interface) I would check them out at CPAN.org/modules.
You can read through the modules.
Also, if you are looking for perl BBs, the best place for that is general sites, like google groups. If you look around you'll find a vast wealth of knowledge from perl coders on interacting with databases in general. In fact, I heard from a friend that Apache now can directly interact with Oracle with pl/sql or sql with an Apache Module.
Good Luck.

Error while creating Oracle DB connection in Endeca Intergrator 3.1
Hi All,
I am facing an issue while creating a new Oracle DB connection using Inegtator in 3.1 version.
I get the following exception:
loader constraint violation in interface itable initialization: when resolving method "oracle.jdbc.OracleConnectionWrapper.setWrapper(Loracle/jdbc/OracleConnection;)V" the class loader (instance of org/jetel/util/classloader/GreedyURLClassLoader) of the current class, oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleConnection, and the class loader (instance of org/apache/catalina/loader/StandardClassLoader) for interface oracle/jdbc/OracleConnection have different Class objects for the type oracle/jdbc/OracleConnection used in the signature
we dont have SID but service name and we use like the following in earlier versions:
jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1556/xx_yy.us.oracle.com
Not sure what is the issue... Any pointers are appreciated!!
Thanks in Advance,
Kartik P.Could you have installed Integrator ETL Server into the same Tomcat instance as Studio? That's not a supported configuration per http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40518_01/integrator.311/integrator_install/toc.htm#Installing%20Integrator%20ETL%20Server%20on%20Tomcat : "Integrator ETL Server must be installed on a standalone Apache Tomcat. Fyi.. I've tried to install DBD::Oracle version 1.24 and 1.50 but that doesn't seem to make any difference. I couldn't find any related thread either for this error so I desperately need a solution to the same(if any).
If anyone can help here, would really appreciate it or else, I will have no choice but to install previous version of oracle client.
Thanks

Database Table Resource via Oracle RAC connection Manager
Hello,
Our current IDM 8.1 syncs off a HR Database Table using the Database Table connector.
Our DBA's are moving the view into an Oracle RAC environment.
Question: Is there a way for us to connect and sync off our DB table through an Oracle RAC connection manager.
I understand that for the IDM repository, this is possible.
jdbc:oracle:thin@(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(LOAD_BALANCE = ON)
(FAILOVER = ON)
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = server1.ser.com)(PORT = 1521))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = server2.ser.com)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = db.com)
servers server1 and server2 are oracle connection managers
Thank you for your input,
-RCWe moved the repository to Oracle RAC recently. The syntax to switch to the new databasecluster was something like this:
lh setRepo -tOracle -ujdbc:oracle:thin:@//dbcluster1.domain:1521/service_idm.oradb.domain -Uwaveset -Pwachtwoord
For the 'lh setRepo' command the old database had to be up, and we had to use the old ojdb5.jar. After that we switched to ojdb6.jar.
One of our resources is a database table with HR data in the same database. The following Database Access Parameters work for us:
Database Type: Oracle
JDBC Driver: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
JDBC URL Template: jdbc:oracle:thin:@//%h:%p/%d
Host : dbcluster1.domain
Database: service_idm.oradb.domain
Port: 1521

Hi all,
Can Oracle BPM connect to SFTP .. If yes, how?
There is no External Resource Connection?
Or do we just have to add the URL in the code, in one of the automatic activities?
Or do we use Fuego.Net.FTPServer?
Will this work for SFTP?

Business Rules:Non-oracle db connections not shown in the ADF-BC Facts sect
Hi everyone
I'm working with Oracle BPM 11.1.1.5.0
JDeverloper: 11.1.1.5.0
Database : SQL Server 2008.
I'm trying to create some rules based on some value in my tables in the database.
The problem:
My non-oracle DB connections are not shown in my Business rule, in the ADF-BC Facts section on the Facts tab.
I have two oracle db connections and one SQL Server connection, and all three have been working perfectly before.
But in the business rules facts section, when I want to add a new ADF-BC fact, only the oracle connections are shown.
I have tried recreating all of them a few times, re registering my sqljdbc jar file, creating a new test application from scratch, but none seems to work.
Can some one give me any hint please?
Thanks in advancehas anyone else had this problem ?

Sybase oracle heterogeneous connection
Hi all,
I created a connection from oracle to sybase using oracle heterogeneous connection. However I have a problem with numeric characters, I cannot get floating parts of numbers.
when I use create as syntax it maps to correct data types(with the correct precision and scale) but 12,49 comes like 12,00.
My Database is 10.2.0.3.0 32bit windows
Any help would be appreciated..The problem was because of language settings. Setting NLS_LANG in the registery to correct setting solved the problem..

Oracle Generic Connectivity in Oracle Application Ser ver 10g.
Hi Tak and All!
With the help of your great guidence, I have connect the Generic Connectivty for MS Access and MS Excel successfully in client server environment.
The topology was..
Host A = Custom installation of Oracle9i database + MS ACCESS
Host B = Oracle 9i Database (Complete)
But...
tell me How the Oracle Generic Connectivity will connect in ORACLE APPLICATION SERVER. What will be the concept and topology? Because the client only have the URL which is used for getting application on browser.
I will be extremely thankful.
All these forums always help me.
Thanks
Rana AdnanIt depends. Oracle Reports can connect to Oracle and non-Oracle databases directly, without using Generic Connectivity.
Your Forms application would presumably connect only to the Oracle database. The Oracle database might well connect to other Oracle and non-Oracle databases via database links. The non-Oracle database links would utilize Generic Connectivity.
Given the three machines A, B, and C
A could connect to B and B could connect to C
A could connect to C for reporting queries

Entity Framework - unable to select the oracle data connection
Entity Framework - unable to select the oracle data connection from the wizard that allows you to select the data provider. Even though we successfully added a data connection that points to an oracle database, we still can't select an existing data connection or create a new database provider that points to an oracle instance.
we are using both vs 2008 sp1 and vs 2010. We connect to oracle 11g and we use the latest oracle odp.net driver. the Driver is installed and working in vs studio.I had this exact problem when I started. I think I had downloaded the wrong odbc (the 64x version). When I unloaded that version and downloaded the 32bit version it worked.
Hope that helps. ~ Darla -
Problem in Oracle Database Connectivity in JSP
I am having big problem such as Oracle Database connectivity problem
Following code i am used for database connection. but it throw an exception call class not found exception.
Pls any one can help me. With a sample code for Oracle Database connection in JSP
Class.forName ("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
String url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@172.25.44.54:1521:bbo";
con = DriverManager.getConnection(url,"user", "user123");
Thank youWell i've never used oracle or their drivers before but i'm presuming that you'd go to oracle.com or something and look for downloads. Otherwise you could goodle for Oracle JDBC drivers. Then just follow the instructions.
Again i've never used JSP but if you have a manifest file somewhere you'll need to put a class-path: entry in their referecning the jar file with the driver so that it is availble at run-time.
