Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate

I am planning to take the exam for "Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate".
There are 2 exams under this certification. The first exam can be taken from any of these 4- 1Z0-007 or 1Z0-007 or 1Z0-047 or 1Z0-051. The second exam is 1Z0-147. But does any of these 2 exams need a mandatory online/inclass course offered from Oracle?
I appreciate if anyone who has taken this exam could help me and explain this.
Thanks in advance.

  • How to buy vouchers for Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate ?

I want to become Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate.
For this, I want to write 1Z0-007 (Introduction to Oracle9i SQL) and
    1Z0-147 (Program with PL/SQL) tests.
I went through so many posts in the forum, but I didn't get the required answers.
    Kindly reply my queries:
    1) Will clearing the above two tests will make me Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate?
    2) Should I purchase two separate vouchers for those two tests?
    3) Should I give both the tests one by one at the same time or can I give them on different days?
Please answer my questions. Or atleast guide me where can I get the answers?

    1) Will clearing the above two tests will make me Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate? These exams fulfill the requirements of the certification which should be awarded if you pass the exam. Even if you pass the exams you are not certified until you received confirmation from Oracle via a success kit or Certview that you are certified
    2) Should I purchase two separate vouchers for those two tests? In my opinion there is usually little advantage in buying vouchers; but you may have different situation with your particular situation. Vouchers also may go wrong on people from time to time. Probably the excpetion for vouchers being good is when discounted vouchers are offered as part of training.
    See: http://www.pearsonvue.com/oracle
    3) Should I give both the tests one by one at the same time or can I give them on different days?Best practice for ordinary mortals is probably to take exams on different days. However as you are choosing 1z0-007 and 1z0-147 and not the more modern choices of 1z0-051 and 1z0-144 I shall leave that to yourself

  • I am now "Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Associate"

    Hi
after very hard work I am now Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Associate. I attended courses (Admin I and SQL Fundamentals) 3 years ago. My Oracle knowhow is only the scope OCA 11g and have no Java know-how.
    What should I do next?
    - 1Z0-047 Oracle Database SQL Certified Expert
    or
    - 1Z0-803 Java SE 7 Programmer I
    what is simpler?

I am searching for an easy winI'm not a big proponent of 'easy'. I'm much more a fan of 'worthwhile'. Determining what is 'easy' for you is not easy. It's hard enough figuring out what is easy for me. That said, a fast and dirty rule of thumb for comparing Oracle certifications is:
    Easiest
OCA -- Broad range of topics -- shallow depth
OIS -- Narrow range of topics -- moderate depth (Implementation Specialist -- dunno if they really have an accepted acronym)
OCP -- Broad range of topics -- moderate depth
OCE -- Narrow range of topics -- considerable depth
OCM -- Whole different ballgame -- perform or fail
    Hardest
Since you are asking about an OCA exam vs an OCE exam, the basic answer is going to be that the OCA exam is easier. That doesn't take into account you. For all I know, you might be mentally allergic to Java and learning it may be the hardest thing you've ever done.

  • Query Regarding the Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA

    Hi All
I am planning to go for the certification "Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA "
But I am not sure what is value of this certification in market.
    Please help me out.
    Thanks in advance
    Amit

My view is this: The more you can put on your resume, usually the better. By itself, its not worth anything. Combined with several years of experience, it could make a difference. If you go for a job and have 5 years of experience and a certification, and the other candidate just has 5 years, as long as you both interview well, I'd say you have a slightly better shot because you have that extra thing on your resume.
You need to look at it in that respect - but its not a magic key to get you any job. Of course different countries may be different in how they view certiciations.

But of cause if you want to learn more DBA stuff then the OCA DBA is a good thing to prepare with.
For both certifications you need to pass two exams. The first is an SQL exam which is identical for both OCAs. The second one is a PL/SQL exam for the OCA Developer and an Adminsitartion exam for the OCA DBA.

  • Very difficult migration from MS Access to Oracle with SQL Developer

    Dear Developers
I have tried to used for one Project Oracle Sql Developer Migration from Access to Oracle (Application Express). Was about an evaluation if Oracle Express (with Application Express) or Mysql (with PHP) as target database.
I am working with Oracle for 14 years and i earn my money in projects related with Oracle. Of course i am sentimental and i push every time when an opportunity comes to have as an option Oracle.
This time beside my sentimental approach the decision was different.
I will tell you why and i hope that someone there will listen and make something for a better Product.
I was trying yesterday the whole day to migrate an Microsoft Access database. A nightmare....
    1. Microsoft Access Exporter 2000 was too slow. For a 25 MB Access database, running time was 15 Minutes. And 15 minutes to obtain an undocumented error. I followed your instruction and eliminate all references etc... as you described in HELP. a lot of time necessary to read and do..... After that i obtained an Error #..16. Sorry that i don't provide you with an exact number error. i don't have it right know and personally i am not interested anymore. For this error i don't find nothing in forums about it.... Search again and again..... Every time after waiting 15 Minutes in which you don't know exactly what application does or if really does something. I decided to delete sequentially macros, modules, forms, querys from Access database and see where Exporter stops... Time and time lost for trying and searching.... Finally i obtained my XML file only by keeping my Access tables. The file was produced even if i obtained at the end Error #5:..... Because was an error i am not really sure if the file was completly consistent with my database.
    2. I followed the next steps and with some errors (enabling, disabling constraints, objects couldn't be created because of different reasons) i had my Model and Oracle Schema. I have tried to export the data from Access and import it in Oracle. data exported was in UTF8 and SQL Loader Control file doesn't have
    LOAD DATA
    character set utf8
So i tried to add the string "character set utf8" in my dozens of CTL files - with a freeware of course.....
Maybe you can say that if i knew that from the beginning i would have set my character set in SQL Developer. I don't know and i will not ever try with this product!
So finally after hours of working and trying and playing with my nerves, reading a lot of forums and documentation, i had an Oracle schema, maybe incomplete because of different errors at so much migration stages.
And now i have tried for the first time in my life MySQL Migration Toolkit. I read that for migration to MYSQL this tool is what i needed.
I recommend you to try the product and see something about the quality required for a piece of software. Is not enough if your product runs OK with Nortwind DEMO Access database. It should run OK with all ACCESS databases.
With the tool i have done the job in 5 MINUTES. Simple, efficiently and without errors. At the end i had the SQL Scripts and the DATA imported in the database.
Difficult to say something now. I am sentimental but i asked mysef if you can do something to improve the quality of the product.
What arguments can we provide for a client in Migration from Access to Oracle ???? Can you honestly answer at that?
Please try this MYSQL Migration Toolkit.....Maybe this give you some ideas about simple tasks and about what we really need...
    Best regards
    Adrian

    Dear Barry and Kgronau
Thank you very much for your response. My Post was after a long day of trying to import an MDB file.
Maybe you can understand why i was so angry...
Yes i understand that your tool try to do more than other even if actually you don't really convert too much.
From Modules to make some procedures where the whole code is commented! .....
For other MDB which i tried to import in APEX the forms where really not usable. Queries are full of errors requires most of the time manual corrections.
I am sorry that i can not provide you with this MDB which cause these problems.
Data and software doesn't belong to me and the company which own it can not provide to you.
What i hope from your product is, even when errors come, to show a better error explanation. At what object in Access error ocures ? This is very important because i can correct my MDB or just delete the module, form, query in cause if SQL Developer doesn't like it....
Just showing an error Error #.... doesn't help me too much. And if an error occurs i don't know if program continues to work or is dead. No information about this. Maybe you can show that your application is alive and does something (working status etc...) ! Anyway we wait long minutes in front of dead screen....
Again, thank you very much for your attention
    Adrian

  • Install Oracle XE, SQL Developer, and Toad on the same machine?

I have been trying to install Oracle SQL Developer, Toad, and Oracle Express on my work computer. Installing SQL Developer and Toad was pretty straightforward, and I was able to browse the XE database with SQL Developer. But after installing Toad, problems started. Toad was using Oracle XE's registry settings to locate ORACLE_HOME and oci.dll. So I tried changing the settings for Oracle XE in the registry. Toad now works, but not Oracle XE. And while I was going through this all, I even had a time when I had Toad and oracle xe working, but not SQL Developer. It almost looks like you can choose two of the products, but not all three.
So, my question to the community at large is "Can it be done?". In what directories do you have each product installed? What environment variables do you have set? Where is your tnsnames.ora? What Oracle registry settings do you have set (namely HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ORACLE\KEY_XE)?
I can post my current settings, but I've been through so many iterations that these current settings don't really matter that much.
Here are the details I am looking for
    Path to sqldeveloper.exe
Path to oracle.exe (for Oracle XE)
    Environment Variables
    ORACLE_HOME
    ORACLE_BASE
    TNS_ADMIN
    PATH (just the oracle stuff)
    Registry Settings
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ORACLE\KEY_XE\ORACLE_HOME
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ORACLE\KEY_XE\ORACLE_BASE
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ORACLE\KEY_XE\TNS_ADMIN
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ORACLE\KEY_XE\OLEDB
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ORACLE\KEY_XE\ORAMTS_CP_TRACE_DIR

I don't use toad, but there should be no reason why you can't install all 3. SQL Developer is a very clean install and affects nothing else. It doesn't add to the path, or create any registry entries except for file associations.
A toad installation should pick up your oracle client (in this case the XE code). I am curious as to why you felt you had to change registry settings. What problem were you trying to fix?
My recommendation would be to uninstall everything, clean the registry and reinstall in the order XE, Toad, SQL Developer. Test in between installations and seek help for problems as you find them. Bear in mind that this is the forum for SQL Developer. QUestions about Oracle XE would be better answered in the dedicated forum, or in the Installation forum, and questions about Toad in a toad forum.

  • Non-Oracle to Oracle by SQL Developer

    Hello,
I'd like to get information from non-Oracle-dbs (MS Access) in an Oracle-db.
I use the Oracle SQL Developer.
There is the option with database links. But I think there is a better solution as they are inflexible. Is there are better way to get them in an Oracle-db?

    Hi,
Database Links can function as MS SQL Server OpenQueries do. Just use the Heterogeneous Connectivity to set up a connexion to the desired host, create a DB Link, and it's over. You can use the DB Link "forever".
What do you find "inflexible" with DB Links?

  • OLE object Migration from Access to Oracle through SQL developer

    Hello,
I used sql developer 3.1.07(oracle 11g) to perform data migration from MS ACESS.
the MS access data has a column with data type as "OLE object" ---there
saved a lot of pdf files .
Then I performed "copy to oracle" from MS access connection, the OLE data
changed to BLOB from oracle database, and data seems to be copied to
database as binary . However none of the data in the column can be opened. I
download the blob data to a file from sql developer and tried to open
using Adobe 8.1 with no success.
How can I fix this issue? or I should say, how can I migrate MS access OLE data to oracle?
    Thanks,
    H.M.

thx - will have a look

The original PDF content starts with:
    %PDF-1.4
    %ª«¬
    4 0 obj
    <<
    /Creator (Apache FOP Version 1.0)
    /Producer (Apache FOP Version 1.0)

    5 0 obj
    <<
    /N 3
    /Length 12 0 R
    /Filter /FlateDecode
    >>
    stream
But when I try to save the content in the BLOB as a file it claims about a missing mime extension and when I ignore this message and save the file anyway as a PDF the content is corrupted.
    It shows as :
    Acrobat Document ..
    ´4 0 obj

    /Producer (Apache FOP Version 1.0)

    <<

Did you also get the missing mime type error message?

  • Migration from Access to Oracle through SQL developer

    Hi,
I want to migrate an mdb file which contains a set of tables to oracle. During this process, i have created schema and all the tables in Oracle using DDL scripts. I would like to transfer only the data to Oracle from access through SQL developer. How can I do that?
    Regards,
    Meena

    Hi Meena,
You mention that you have created the schema and tables in Oracle using DDL scripts. Did you use the Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench, creating a Migration Repository, to carry out this process? I see from your other postings that you are experiencing issues using the Exporter tool, which would lead me to believe that you haven't used the Migration Workbench to migrate your database. Obviously you will need to resolve your Exporter issues before you can proceed to the next phase of the migration process. I will aim to assist you with those issues on the seperate thread - ShowSplashScreen("_OracleSplashScreen",3) error The XML file generated by the Exporter tool forms the basis of your MS Access migration.
In order to migrate your data from MS Access to Oracle using the Migrate Data option in Oracle SQL Developer, you will need to have access to the Migration Repository used for the migration of the MS Access database. The information contained in the Converted Model, in the Migration Repository, is used during the data migration process. The data migration requires the following connections:
    1. a source database connection i.e. a database connection to the MS Access MDB file
    2. a target database connection i.e. a database connection to the migration Oracle schema
    3. a Converted Model connection
For further information on the creation of a Migration Repository, and the migration process, please refer to the accompanying documentation available via the online Help within Oracle SQL Developer, and also from OTN - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10405_01/doc/nav/portal_booklist.htm.
    I hope this helps.

  • Sql srver datetime to oracle by sql developer

Using the tool Sql Developer 3.1.07, try to migration an sql server 2008 database to oracle 11gR2. The tool failed at a few places. One point:
    sql server table:
    create table Table1 (
    [modificationDatetime] [datetime] NOT NULL,
The tool generated Oracle script for the same table:
    create table Table1 (
modificationDatetime DATE DEFAULT SYS_EXTRACT_UTC NOT NULL,
The script actually does not work in oracle with the error:
SQL Error: ORA-00984: column not allowed here
    00984. 00000 - "column not allowed here"
Simplely replacing 'SYS_EXTRACT_UTC' with 'sysdate' works.
Wondering if this is a bug of the tool.
    Thanks,

The SQL Server table I used to reprot the issue at our SQl Dev team is:
    drop table DateTimeMig;
    create table DateTimeMig ([modificationDatetime] [datetime] NOT NULL default getutcdate());
And I reproduced with 3.1 the migration code issue:
    -- DROP TABLE DateTimeMig CASCADE CONSTRAINTS;
    PROMPT Creating Table DateTimeMig ...
    CREATE TABLE DateTimeMig (
modificationDatetime DATE DEFAULT SYS_EXTRACT_UTC NOT NULL
Issue is investigated by migration developer team.

  • Pausing and resuming a PL/SQL proc from oracle PL/SQL DEVELOPER tool

I need to test a PL/SQL on how it reacts to an exception. I need to PAUSE it, do something outside of the proc and then resume the proc. Is there a PROMPT command in PL/SQL where it would wait for user input? Can I use DBMS_OUTPUT.GET_LINE to do this? Where does the GET_LINE raed its input from?

Perhaps the following demo will help. It uses straight SQL, since the PRIMARY KEY stuff does not require any sort of PL/SQL.
I set up 2 sessions in SQLPlus.
Session 1 - create a table with a primary key, insert and do not commit:

For your original question - SQL and PL/SQL are run in separate engines. PL/SQL sends the SQL command to the SQL engine, which runs that and returns any return info (rowset, error, ...).
So any questions about SQL and SQL transaction control may be handled in a purely SQLPlus (or TOAD or SQLDeveloper) test case.
OTOH, questions about PL/SQL can be answered using a debug environment such as SQLDeveloper - see http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/sqldev/plsql_debug/plsql_debug.htm
