Oracle Portal for HR Self Service

Hi All,
I am new to HR Self Service implementation. Can anyone tell me what is the role of Oracle Portal in Self Service HR? Is it mandatory to have Oracle Portal when we implement Self Service HR?

What is the application release?
Not sure if I understand you correctly, but I believe having Oracle Portal installed/configured is not mandatory (it is optional like configuring SSO). Please see these documents (check the referenced docs/links in these documents) for details.

How to call an Oracle Report from a Self Service HR page.

Hi,
I am trying to call an Oracle Report from a Self Service HR page. I personalized the page to add a button and link the report's URL to that button; but I am having issues passing/manipulating parameters to this report.
Is there a better approach to do this, please post your suggestions. Also If you can direct me to some usefull documentation that will be great.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The p_accesscode is the parameter I need to pass to the Oracle report.
Currently, when I click the button, it invokes the above URL and takes me to the parameter form of the Oracle report and when I enter the Username, it runs the report and displays the desired output. But, what I need to achieve is, to pass the current user who has logged in behind the scene and to get rid of the parameter screen totally. Is this doable ? If yes, please help me !!!

Time/LEave approval in Business Package for Manager Self-Service 60.1

Hi all,
Currently implementing ESS MSS on 4.7 system with EP 6.0 SP19.
The BP we plan to use is Business Package for Manager Self-Service 60.1.
My basic question is, we approve leave requests in BP for my SAP ERP (2004s) in the Universal worklist. How do we do the same in Business Package for Manager Self-Service 60.1. There i sno mention on time approval and leave requests approval in the MSS standard documentation ( or probably i missed it).
Any inputs in this regards are highly appreciated.

in mySAP we had the opition to lauunch the applications in web dynpro. like launch leave approval in web dynpro. do we have this kind of optiion where the manager can approve the work item on the portal application or will it call a transaction based iview to open the work item in the R/3

Business Package for Employee Self-Service 4.6C - 4.7 - F4 key doesn't work

Hello All,
We have installed Business Package for Employee Self-Service 4.6C - 4.7 in our Portal version EP 6.0 SPS09 .We r accessing ESS into portal through ITS .I hav not installed any support packages for this Business Package.Our backend is R/3 system.We are a problem in accessing ESS iviews in Portal like F4 key doesnot work and no F4 help pop up appears.Are there any support packages also available for a Business Package.If yes where to find it and how to install it,can someone tell me wt might be the cause of this Error? and how to resolve it? I don't uderstand why u use MYSAP ERP ESS support package since u using SAP R3 4.7 as backend.
I think it's diffrent from SAP R3 4.7 ESS coz it's used webdynpro
so download the Business Package for Employee Self-Service 4.6C - 4.7 50.4 version

Adobe Interactive forms for Managerial self service

Hi All,
We need Adobe Interactive forms for Managerial self service in Portal.
When i goto transaction SFP, and check any of the interactive forms ie ISR_FORM_SPEG for example, and click the Layout button, i get the blank form, even the PDF format shows me a blank page.
Has anyone faced a similar problem? If so, can you please tell me the reason for this error and how to rectify it?

Thanks for replying..i found a note (843279) which has a similar problem as mine..it says logon as "DE" and then copy the form . When i do that, i get a popup window asking me userid and password for Adobe configuration services, which means i need to check whether Adobe configuration is proper or not.
Ill do that and see how things proceed.

Bussiness Package for Project Self Service.

I have downloaded Business Package for Project Self Service and have downloaded it from service market place and imported it into portal. What are the other steps for configuration. I have searched the Help file but did not understand what further steps need to be performed.
Plz suggest what others steps needed to be performed, any wiki or step by step guide will do.

Time estimation for HR Self Service implementation

Hi All,
What will be the best time estimation for implementing Self Service HR with moderate number of customizations (Generally custom workflow or workflow customizations) with 2 CRPs, one UAT and all AIM documentation.
We have HRMS and Payroll already in place since more than an year.

Realistically it would take an experienced application person who could do the personalizations about 3 months in an existing implementation. This would include testing, training etc. Perhaps 2 or 3 weeks for an experienced person to customize the various workflows.
If you have never done this application before, triple the time as you figure things out.

Oracle Portal for win98?

Is oracle portal for Win98 available for download? Will it work with Microsoft PWS?

This is really not the forum for this type of question.
However, Oracle Portal is available for Solaris and will be available shortly for Windows NT. It will be ported to platforms that 9i Application Server is ported. I do not believe that Windows 98 is on that list.
Second answer. Microsoft PWS is not currently supported with 9i Application Server.

We have a requirement for BI Report to fetch data from table :T5SSCXSSSERVICES
The above table could be filled with data when we perform any activities in ESS and MSS.
I wanted to know what are all required configuration to get data in to the table T5SSCXSSSERVICES
I understand below mentioned configuration are required:
IMG Node 1: Activate Data Tracking for All Self-Services
IMG Node2: Set Data Tracking for Individual Self-Services
Is it required to activate Business FunctionS et - HR Administartive Servcices?
Guide me with more inputs,

SSO to SAP EP6 (for Employee Self Service) using WebSEAL

Hi SDN friends,
We are about to embark on a SSO implementation using IBM WebSEAL for SAP EP6 ESS (Employee Self Service) connecting through to an SAP R/3 4.7 server. Since the ESS solution for 4.7 still uses ITS services, this means that we have ITS iViews in the EP6 portal.
We have managed to look through the whitepaper 'IBM Tivoli Access Manager - Single Sign On for SAP NetWeaver - September 2005' described at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/ibm
We have the following queries, if anybody has a simple answer to these:
- Is it absolutely necessary to configure an SNC connection between ITS/EP6 and R/3 server to achieve SSO for the portal?
- Given that SAP EP6 references ITS IAC iviews, is it necessary for us to configure both ITS and EP6 for SSO, or can we simply configure EP6 for SSO? If so, is it also necessary to configure both for SSL?
- Otherwise, how easy is it to set up SSO in this scenario without SSL (for demo purposes)?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hello John,
regarding your questions:
ad 1) no. SNC is only mandatory if you use X.509-based SSO to R/3. You can also use SAP logon ticket-based SSO from EP to R/3 or usermapping that do both not require SNC.
ad 2) yes, you have to configure both EP and ITS at WebSeal.
ad 3) you can always omit SSL. However for production use, it is recommended.

Enable the Shop on Behalf functionality for Employee Self Service Role (Requisitioner) in SRM 7 EHP 3

Dear All,
We are in SRM 7.0 EHP 3 and we are planning to add the shop on behalf functionality for our requisitioner (Employee Self Service Role). As per the standard, we are aware that it can be implemented in SC professional.
Is there a way to add the SOB functionality in SC Wizard as well. We have tried the below suggestion.
Enhance the BBP_SC_MODIFY_UI BADI. But it hasn't helped us where the link is not at all appearing. Could you please advise if there is any enhancement needs to be done in Web Dynpro level or the changes need to be done in BADI and also in Web Dynpro level.

You observation is correct and it is the standard design of such portal roles as SRM Administrator, SRM Strategic Purchaser, or SRM Operational Purchaser to not have "personalization", but only Employee Self Service role.

Business Package for Student Self Service and Faculty Self Service in EHP3

Can you tell me what all business packages available to provide Student Self Service and Faculty Self Service in the portal.
I am using EHP3.
Please tell me the name of the business packages so that we can download and integrate in portal.
If possible please tell me what functionalities are provided for student and faculty as self service in EHP3.
I did not want to mention this, but I have to say that its really very important for me for one of big prospective customer. I have to show a demo for Student Portal (Student Self Service)and Teacher Portal (Faculty Self Service).

Good Model for Web Self-service User registration ?

Trying to build a web self-service user registration module.
9iAS documentation says 9iAS uses JAZNUserManager that uses jazn-data.xml.
I like jazn-data.xml because the password is encrypted and works with j_security_check with minimal coding, just need to make entries in web.xml.
Is this a good model, ie storing web users in jazn-data.xml ?

You should have a kind of auto-enrollment feature on Sharepoint side where, based on a menu selection, the user will be able to enroll himself and his account will be moved to an OU or added to groups based on the provided details. The problem with this
is that this is usually the source of duplicated user accounts in AD and it is not easy to apply a kind of control on how users should enroll themselves only one time and also hard to manage and cleanup later.

Oracle Portal for Intranet Development

Hi,
Anyone out there in the UK used Portal to develop an intranet - I am about to embark on our intranet project and would welcome your views on the product, ease of use, problems, fitness for purpose. I am also interested in the skills required to develop portal - did you have a designer, developer, DBA or did one bod just do it all! What training did you require in order to use Portal.

It would be great if you can run through the main issues - we are particularly concerned at the moment with installation and training issues - how easy/difficult was it to install ; what/how many staff did you have working on the project; what skills/additonal training did you need(if any!).
We have two staff assigned to our Portal Development Project - myself as Web Designer/Developer and Fred Williams as DBA (who will have to do the installation and any application coding stuff).
Our paths do seem to be crossing lately. I know Fred has recently spoken to your Alistair Thompson. Also Jan Bennett, Head of our Oracle Development Team has had recent contact through meetings with CCTA and the Cedar Group.
