Oracle Primavera Special Interest Group (OPSIG)

Hello All,
I am not sure if everyone is aware of this but there is now an offical Oracle Primavera Special Interest Group (OPSIG). This group is organized under OAUG and Quest Internationall, and has a website at www.PrimaveraSig.com
OPSIG Mission:
The Oracle Primavera SIG will provide a forum of open discussion and education of Oracle products, applications and related issues associated with the Primavera Suite of Products. These tools include, but are not limited to, Primavera Project Management (P6), Contract Management , Risk Analysis, and Portfolio Management, along with the supported interfaces with Oracle ERP systems and methodologies. The OPSIG will also recommend enhancements to Oracle for all of the Project and Program Management Tools in Primavera.
The SIG was formed in support of both OAUG and Quest International objectives to promote the formation of Special Interest Groups for users of Oracle Primavera. It provides a forum for sharing information, experiences and different solutions.
We are sponsoring over 40 presentations at COLLABORATE 11 this year, and aim to make this yearly conference a key destination for Primavera users. www.Collaborate11.org
Stop by our website and join. Membership is free, and we we need people like yourself who are both interested in learning more about Primvera and in helping fellow users.
Cheers,
Daniel Williams

  • New Oracle Development Special Interest Group launching in London

For any UK developers on the list, the UKOUG are launching an Oracle Development SIG on the 27th October which will have customers, an Oracle ACE Director and Oracle Development speaking about, amongst other things, JDeveloper and Oracle ADF experiences.
The full agenda is published here. If you are based in the UK (or can travel to the UK) it may be a good opportunity to learn about ADF experiences as well as network with some of the people you meet on these forums.

  • UK only: Forms 11g experiences at Special Interest Group?

    Hi
Please forgive me for posting in the Forms forum with a non-technical request...
I'm organising the agenda for the UK OUG Application Server & Middleware Special Interest Group on 2nd March (London & Warrington) which is themed around 11g upgrade. I am frantically trying to find someone in the UK who has upgraded to Forms 11g and would be willing to come along and share their experiences.
You could speak for as long or as little as you like (e.g. 10, 15, 30, 45 minutes) and I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated by your peers, many of whom are on 10.1.2 and will be starting to worry about the end of premier support later this year.
If you have any questions please contact me directly (SimonH and the domain is veriton.co.uk) or Anna in the UKOUG office (see [UKOUG office contacts|http://www.ukoug.org/about/staff_directory.jsp?parent=0&id=20] ).
    Thanks!
    Simon

By the way, we managed to get [Mr John Stegeman|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/profile.jspa?userID=480262], someone probably very familiar to OTN developer forum readers, to speak about a recent Forms 11g migration :)

  • [Swiss JSF Users] JSF Special-Interest-Group Switzerland

JSF is proving more and more competitive each day. A increasing number of
companies are developing applications based on JSF.
Often the same questions/problems/hints are valid for almost all users of
JSF. Internationally some active communities have been established. Last
year a first encounter of JSF-entusiasts created the idea of "JSFDays Europe",
a conference that allows to get in touch with the main players int he
JSF-universe and to meet also informally. This first encounter took place
in Munich, was organized on very short notice during the Oktoberfest. An
intense session with the JSF expert group lead Ed Burns allowed the users
to voice their wishes for JSF 2.0 and regognize the "approachability" of
the JSF-people at Sun. Within Switzerland so far the contacts between the
users are rather sporadic and more on a one-to-one basis.
Hopefully some contacts have been added during the Jazoon-conference. We
would like to go one step further and establish the networking between
Swiss-JSF users. An active community can help in solving problems or even
create components that are usefull for some or all members. And in
Switzerland we encounter some problems (like i18n, as most of our
applications need to be available in multiple languages) that other
international users do not encounter or encounter later or to a lesser extent.
The JSF-specification is driven by requirements that are brought to the
Expert Group discussing the specifications. So far much input has come
    from framework-architects, appserver-providers and tool-creators. It's
about time the actual users let hear their voices as well. Although the
expert group members can be contacted and have proven to be very
responsive, requirements coming from an official user-group have more
    importance.
Establishing a "JSF user group" as a independant community or a
"special interest group" under the umbrella of the
"JUGS (Java User Group Switzerland)" could be the outcome of this meeting.
The underline the importance of "interaction" and communication for the
community, we propose short presentations with much space for discussion.
Date: Thursday, 2007-06-28 (right after the end of Jazoon 07)
Place: Zurich, close to the location of Jazoon 07 (but not yet defined)
    Agenda:
    - 16:30 - 17:30: HTTP-GET interface into JSF-applications
         Presenter: Ed Burns
Abstract: First ideas on the upcoming GET-interface into
    JSF-applications. ...
30 minutes presentation, 30 minutes discussion on
these ideas and their implications on the applications
    - 17:30 - 18:30 (resp. open end): JSF, Quo Vadis?
         Presenter: Ed Burns, Alexander Jesse
         Abstract:
         - Where is JSF heading? The Expert Group is forming and discussing
the next version of the JSF-spec right now.
What are the ideas driving the EG?
         - Where is JSF heading in Switzerland? Can we say a User Group is
forming right now? What could be the plans of this group? Should
it participate in the "JSFDays Europe" initiative?
In order to plan the upcoming first meeting (room,...) we would appreciate
feedback from all interested people. Also from those that cannot come to
the first meeting, but would welcome the foundation of the
    JSF Special-Interest-Group Switzerland.

  • How to expose a Delegate feature of BPM workspace to oracle primavera

    Hi All,
We have Oracle primavera which is getting used for Project portfolio management and we are using BPM workflows to manage it. All the Human task pages are designed on ADF which can be accessed directly from Oracle Primavera application by users.
Now we want to implement a delegate feature of oracle BPM but as per my understanding that feature we can use through Oracle BPM workspace>> task actions list. But as all the tasks and UI's user is accessing using Primavera application hence is there any way that this delegate feature of oracle BPM workspace can be exposed to primavera application so that user can use this feature of BPM workspace in oracle primavera?
Please help me whether this thing is possible or not and if yes then how to go about it.
    Thanks
    RJ

    Hi,
Have you create the orapw file in the $ORACLE_HOME/dbs with orapwd ?
    example :
    orapwd file=${ORACLE_HOME}/dbs/orapw${ORACLE_SID} password=change_on_install entries=40
Then the unix user oracle will be create in the orapw${ORACLE_SID} file
after if you want to create another user :
grant sysdba to TOTO; the unix user TOTO could do : connect / as sysdba

Yes it is. The Oracle database wasn't initially designed to be ANSI compliant. As you correctly state the ANSI standards weren't around when it was initially designed, so the statement is perfectly correct. ;)Ok, in one sense it may be correct but it is a completely misleading statement. Not sure why you think it's misleading.Because there was no ANSI standard, so making it sound like a design choice The Oracle database wasn't initially designed to be ANSI compliant. would suggest to most readers that there was a standard to be compliant to.
Like saying Ford originally did not design their cars to incorporate safety features such as ABS, seat belts and air bags.
The OP asked "why oracle is having different syntaxes for joins than ANSI syntaxes ?" and the answer is that Oracle wasn't initially designed with ANSI compliance, so it has it's old non-ANSI syntax,As shown above, the old syntax was ANSI compliant at the time and to call it non-ANSI is either incorrect or misleading dependent on your point of view.
and since ANSI syntax became the standard it now supports that. And since ANSI switched to a new standard, Oracle had to implement the new standard as well as the previous ANSI standard would be more accurate in my opinion.
Nothing misleading as far as I'm aware in that.I find the whole discussion about ANSI and Oracle's supposed non-compliance, reads like it was Oracle's choice to deviate from the standards, when it was ANSI's bullheaded decisions to pointlessly change standards that left Oracle and other vendors out of compliance, and that was a decision made solely by ANSI.
This is probably the reason ANSI no longer produces SQL standards, the endless syntax fiddling would eventually have made forward left under outer joins a reality.
