Oracle procedure/function to validate email id

Hi,
If you have an oracle pl/sql stored procedure/function to validate email id pl. post it in the reply.

Hi,
Hope this link may be of any help to you. You may have to write a function on your own after referring to this doc.

    Hi!
    Here is an example:
    create or replace procedure test
    is
    type v2_itt is table of varchar2(2000) index by binary_integer;
    l_v2 v2_itt;
    procedure test2( pi_v2 v2_itt ) is
    begin
    for i in 1 .. pi_v2.count loop
    dbms_output.put_line( pi_v2(i) );
    end loop;
    end;
    begin
    l_v2(1) := 'name1';
    l_v2(2) := 'name2';
    test2( l_v2 );
    end;

  • Exception handling in procedures/functions

    I want to know if an exceptions can be handled inside a while loop in Oracle procedures/functions?
    thanks in advanced,

    Abhijit,
    Darn while writting an answer other people already did as well (coooool). I guess I'll still post my reply :).
    In my example, I cause the error by doing 0/0 (can't divide by zero) but the loop still continues. You can copy/paste this in sqlplus and it should give you the same output as me.
    --[START]
    create or replace procedure sp_test as
    li_loop number := -1;
    li_temp number;
    begin
    while li_loop < 10 loop
    li_loop := li_loop + 1;
    begin
    select li_loop/li_loop into li_temp from dual;
    EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN
    dbms_output.put_line ('ERROR IS : ' || sqlerrm);
    end;
    dbms_output.put_line ('loop value is [' ||to_char(li_loop) || ']');
    end loop;
    end;
    set serveroutput on;
    execute sp_test;
    --[END]
    ERROR IS : ORA-01476: divisor is equal to zero
    loop value is [0]
    loop value is [1]
    loop value is [2]
    loop value is [3]
    loop value is [4]
    loop value is [5]
    loop value is [6]
    loop value is [7]
    loop value is [8]

  • Rename view,procedure,function,trigger in oracle.

    hi all,
    Just i am thinking a concept in oracle.
    can i rename view,procedure,function,trigger in oracle. i know it is not possible bcos it is a script.
    can u please confirm me

    You can rename View
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B12037_01/server.101/b10759/statements_9019.htm
    You can rename Trigger
    http://www.ss64.com/ora/trigger_a.html
    Well there we go. Having never had a need to do it myself (I put it down to good design and coding standards!) I never knew it was possible.

  • Help with Oracle packaged procedures/functions in JDBC

    Up to this point I've pretty much used vanilla SQL calls for Oracle (with the JDBC thin driver).
    However, I just received a PL/SQL script (that I didn't write) which I need to execute in a Java application (and get a result set). So I started looking at the Callable object. However, I'm having problems:
    I'm trying to execute the following, piece by piece:
    exec pay_balance_pkg.set_context('TAX_UNIT_ID','143') ;
    select /*+ ORDERED */
    ppf.employee_number,
    ppf.full_name,
    pdb.balance_name,
    ppa.effective_date,
    pay_balance_pkg.get_value(pdb.defined_balance_id, paa.assignment_action_id) amount
    from
    lots more SQL
    Using a Callable statement, I can run the pay_balance_pkg.set_context('TAX_UNIT_ID','143') as "{call pay_balance_pkg.set_context(?,?)}" and set up the input parameters. It runs.
    But the pay_balance_pkg.get_value(pdb.defined_balance_id, paa.assignment_action_id) attempt generates errors because of the implicit parameters (pdb.defined_balance_id, paa.assignment_action_id). I was assuming the previous call set up the "context" for these parameters. But it doesn't seem to in JDBC.
    What's the solution for this?
    Is there a way to just "run" the .sql file via JDBC or JDeveloper? Or do I literally have to parse out the PL/SQL and SQL from the file?

    Thanks for the reply.
    It turned out that within that "large chunk of SQL", there was a package call that wasn't returning the expected results... which mucked up the rest of the SQL call.
    Apparently it was a permissions issue in that the package didn't like to be called from JDBC; but would work fine out of SQL*Plus. Have you heard of this?
    I ended up just throwing the first package call into an an anonymous PL/SQL block, and then doing the SQL call... both in SQLJ. Only because the app is throw-away. Otherwise I agree: it would have been better in a stored procedure/function.

  • SSRS with Oracle Stored Procedures, Functions and Packages

    Hi,
    I am working on a BI project. Here we are using PowerPivot to access data from Oracle DB and generate reports. Currently Client generates Few reports using Oracle Stored Procedures, Functions and Packages. We need to move everything to PowerPivot, so
    that user can generate all reports using same platform. But PowerPivot doesn'e support Oracle Stored Procedures, Functions and Packages. So we have decided to try those reports using SSRS.
    I have no knowledge about using SSRS which will call Oracle function/stored procedures/packages for generating reports.
    Can anybody help me in getting exact steps?
    Please let me know if my question is not clear enough.
    Thanks and Regards,
    SS

    Hi Visakh,
    Thanks for the detailed steps. My next question is:
    Is there any other way to develop such reports without using any development tool like Visual Studio? Our aim is to provide a self-serviced reporting platform where user don't need any technical knowledge.
    I am sorry I have no knowledge about SSRS and Oracle DB.Can you please have a look at my Oracle function and let me know whether it's possible to execute this using SSRS? (I am pasting one by one as there is a character limit.

  • How to call reports 6i or forms 6i directly from oracle procedure

    Hi,
    Hi,
    Env: 6.0.8.25.2 (forms 6i/reports 6i)
    Database: Oracle 10g r2
    We are running a client server environment and not web based.
    I want to run the forms 6i or reports 6i directly from a database procedure/function and not by creating a procedure inside a form and then call a report.
    Looking for calling forms6i/reports 6i directly from sql*plus commands used inside the PLSQL database procedure/function. (Just like we create a stand alone package/procedure/function).
    I have developed many forms and reports and very comfortable in calling reports from forms 6i.
    My question was completely different but looks like i was not able to explain properly:
    I want to call the forms 6i or reports 6i directly from sqlplus* prompt and through stand alone oracle database procedure/function (procedure created directly in database but not as a program unit within form or report).
    There is a requirement to call the form through database scheduling by passing fixed parameters and then generate the report pdf and email automatically to various users.
    Also, is there any way to schedule a report automatically so that the report runs automatically in the scheduled time and send out reports to the users. I have developed a email program but looking for scheduling the report or forms 6i.
    Thanks,
    Srinivas

    Hi,
    There are couple of existing reports and forms developed in 6i and users are using them when required.
    For certain MIS reports, management wants them to be generated on daily/weekly basis and email to be sent to them as PDF files.
    Have a program which will convert to PDF and email to users but not able to trace on how to call the forms 6i or reports 6i and pass the report parameters so that the report is called directly through pl/sql so that i can schedule them.
    All the forms and report executables are located on server1 and database server is located in server2 and running on client/server architecture.
    Database version is 10g r2 and Forms/Reports version is 6i.
    Any code samples would be of great use.

  • Any existing function to validate an item when other item has been changed?

    Any existing function to validate an item when another item has been changed? Because these 2 fields are related. When one filed is changed, the other one should be blank and let the user to input again. I am using oracle custom.pll library.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Vikram,
    Thanks for posting your issue,
    You can switch of alerts and set E-Mail Notification to Yes under your Workflow Tasks list > Settings > Advanced Settings. By doing so user specified in AssignedTo will receive e-mail notification when task is created and if task ownership is not changed
    during your workflow this will be the only mail sent by system.
    Since you are already using SharePoint designer you also have option to include Send an Email action in your workflow (after task is created). This option is better if you want to send some specific info to user.
    Also, browse the below mentioned URLs to create workflow step by step

    Hi Cheng,
    You may be interested in what Quintessence Systems (Berkshire,

    Addressed at precisely this kind of problem area, we've
    developed a technology called F2J (Formula to Java). F2J
    automatically converts stored PL/SQL (Procedures, Functions and
    Packages) to Java classes which can be loaded and run as Stored
    Procedures in an Oracle8i database.

  • Status report from Procedure/functions

    All,
    I have procedures /functions in my database. I need to return a status value back to the call procedures/functions to report the sub_procedure/function executed successfully.
    What is the status value if a procedure/function executed successfully? And what is the value for un_successful execution? Where I can get it from?
    Thanks a lot!

    This is really a design choice that you have to make in your application. PL/SQL stored procedures / functions do not return any implicit status codes on there own. In your PL/SQL code, you can check the SQLCODE built-in function for the status of the last SQL statement executed, but this is hardly the same thing (and really designed for use in exception handlers).
    You may choose to design you applications such that every call must return a status value. In this case, the values used to represent success or failure are up to you (I might suggest 0 for success and the error code - which will be non-zero - for failure). You can either use functions which always return a number (probably not a good idea to place this limitation on your application); you might design all stored procedures to return an output parameter which indicates success or failure.
    But, in general, your client code should be designed to correctly handle all Oracle exceptions - if no exception is raised, then success, else failure. And your PL/SQL should avoid bad practices like exception handlers which trap WHEN OTHERS and don't re-raise the exception.

  • How to call an Oracle Procedure and get a return value in Php

    Hi Everyone,
    Has anyone tried calling an Oracle procedure from Php using the ora functions and getting the return value ? I need to use the ora funtions (no oci)because of compatibility and oracle 7.x as the database.
    The reason why I post this here is because the ora_exec funtion is returning FALSE but the error code displayes is good. Is this a bug in the ora_exec funtion ?
    My code after the connection call is as follows:
    $cur = ora_open($this->conn);
    ora_commitoff($this->conn);
    $requestid = '144937';
    echo $requestid;
    $rc = ora_parse($cur, "begin p_ins_gsdata2
    (:requestid, :returnval); end;");
    if ($rc == true) {
    echo " Parse was successful ";
    $rc2 = ora_bind ($cur, "requestid", ":requestid", 32, 1);
    if ($rc2 == true) echo " Requestid Bind Successful ";
    $rc3 = ora_bind ($cur, "returnval", ":returnval", 32, 2);
    if ($rc3 == true) echo " Returnval Bind Successful ";
    $returnval = "0";
    $rc4 = ora_exec($cur);
    echo " Result = ".$returnval." ";
    if ($rc4 == false) {
    echo " Exec Returned FALSE ";
    echo " Error = ".ora_error($cur);
    echo " ";
    echo "ErrorCode = ".ora_errorcode($cur);
    echo "Error Executing";
    ora_close ($cur);
    The Oracle procedure has a select count from a table and it returns the number of records in that table. It's defined as:
    CREATE OR REPLACE procedure p_ins_gsdata2 (
    p_requestid IN varchar2 default null,
    p_retcode OUT varchar2)
    as
    BEGIN
    SELECT COUNT (*) INTO p_retcode
    FROM S_GSMRY_DATA_SURVEY
    WHERE request_id = p_requestid ;
    COMMIT;
    RETURN;
    END;
    Nothing much there. I want to do an insert into a table,
    from the procedure later, but I figured that I start with a select count since it's simpler.
    When I ran the Php code, I get the following:
    144937
    Parse was successful
    Requestid Bind Successful
    Returnval Bind Successful
    Result = 0
    Exec Returned FALSE
    Error = ORA-00000: normal, successful completion -- while
    processing OCI function OBNDRA
    ErrorCode = 0
    Error Executing
    I listed the messages on separate lines for clarity. I don't understand why it parses and binds o.k. but the exec returns false.
    Thanks again in advance for your help. Have a great day.
    Regards,
    Rudi

    retcode=`echo $?`is a bit convoluted. Just use:
    retcode=$?I see no EOF line terminating your input. Your flavour of Unix might not like that - it might ignore the command, though I'd be surprised (AIX doesn't).
    replace the EXEC line with :
    select 'hello' from dual;
    and see if you get some output - then you know if sqlplus commands are being called from your script. You didn't mentioned whether you see the banner for sqlplus. Copy/paste the output that you get, it will give us much more of an idea.

  • SQL query statement  for stored procedure / function listing ...

    Hi everyone,
    Is there a SQL query to list all the stored procedures and functions of an user in an Oracle 8 database?
    I have this idea:
    select * from USER_SOURCE where TYPE = 'PROCEDURE' or TYPE = 'FUNCTION'
    but I am not too sure whether this is correct.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eric

    Yeah
    I agree with you Garcia , my above posting was a correction to the query mentioned in the question only.
    you are correct
    If you only want the name of the object,
    SELECT Object_Name from User_Objects where object_type in ( 'PROCEDURE' ,'FUNCTION');
    is much faster than Selecting (distinct) from User_Source.

    procedure search_diagnosis (l_res OUT dyna_cur,
                               in_search_string IN VARCHAR2,
                               in_search_lang IN VARCHAR2,
                               in_lang_list IN VARCHAR2,
                               in_diag_class_list IN VARCHAR2,
                               in_parent_id IN NUMBER) Procedure call has inner check that fail because of som strange reason:
    in_search_string has 2 as index, that is correct. but procedure recieves is as number 3 in parameter list (what is in_search_lang). Other parameters are moved to. It seems like a cursor takes 2 places in definition. It's clear that if I put in_search_string as 1 parameter and cursor as 0 I'll get invalid parametr bindong(s) exception. So... any ideas why 2nd parameter is actually 3rd?
    Thanks beforehand.

    hmm...moreover:
    if we change procedure to function and call it in a simple way:
    CallableStatement stmnt = helper.getConnection().prepareCall("begin ? := pkg_diagnosis.search_diagnosis(?,?,?,?,?); end;");
                   stmnt.registerOutParameter(1, OracleTypes.CURSOR);
                   stmnt.setString(2, pattern);
                   stmnt.setString(3, lang);
                   stmnt.setString(4, langs);
                   stmnt.setString(5, diagnosisClass);
                   stmnt.setObject(6, parentId, OracleTypes.NUMBER);
                   stmnt.execute();
                   ResultSet rs = (ResultSet) stmnt.getObject(1);the exception is:
    [BEA][Oracle JDBC Driver][Oracle]ORA-06550: line 1, column 14:
    PLS-00382: expression is of wrong type
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:

    cursor is defined like ordinary dynamic cursor:
