Oracle products Licensing Information

Hello,
I'm looking to setup Oracle 11g RAC with TimesTen Cache for our product.
I have two questions:
1. When buying Oracle RAC, is it necessary to purchase Oracle 11g software (Enterprise Edition) separately or is it included with RAC software?
2. Is Timesten software included with Oracle 11g or is it necessary to purchase TimesTen software separately?

Both RAC and IMDB Cache are *options* to Oracle Database Enterprise Edition. So to have IMDB Cache plus RAC you need to license
Oracle Database Enterprise Edition
Oracle Database RAC option
Oracle Database IMDB Cache option
The first two must be licensed for the number of CPUs on the machines where the Oracle database (RAC cluster) will be running. IMDB cache must be licensed for the number of CPUs on the machines where TimesTen will be running (which will not be the Oracle database machines of course).

Why does the above document not explicitly state that there are no explicit licensing requirements for Oracle Database client as long as the Database Server is licensed (or if this is wrong then a correct statement) ? This clarity is much needed from a licensing perspective !

Oracle weblogic 10.3 license information

We have purchased Oracle weblogic 10.3 from a vendor and have installed by the application team. I need to confirm how can i check the license information (information reg no.of users etc) after installation of the product in the windows server 2008. Is there is any log file which will have license details??

Oracle has removed the licensing which is bound to IP addresses long before itself.
From WebLogic Server 10.3 and higher, no license file (no license.bea) is required by Oracle. However, you should deploy the product only in environments which are bounded to your license. That is you should see that if you bought license for 8 cores, you are deploying it only in a 8 core environment and not more.

You must have a license to access the Oracle10g AWR and ADDM components. This includes you must es AWR (Automatic Workload Repository), the dbms_workload_repository package, the awrrpt.sql and awrrpti.sql reports, any of the dba_hist and v$active_session_history views, ADDM - Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor, and all dba_advisor views.

OATS 9.0 production license?

Hi all,
I'm evaluating this product for our company. As with any piece of software, cost is a major consideration. I see the free download/trial evaluation is released under the OTN license, which states that this cannot be used for production purposes. My issue is I cannot find where I can purchase or even get a price on a production license. There is no listing for this on https://shop.oracle.com/ that I have found. I've tried calling sales a couple of times but all I get is a "We'll get back to you with an account manager in 48-72 hours" response and then no one calls me. I've tried getting a hold of customer service through the "We'll respond to your email soon" service but no one has responded to my question there either. As always, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I understand that you can purchase the tool online, yet, I would recommend you to talk to someone because you could get some discounts, you could find out training pricing if necessary and services pricing if seams appropriate.
Also, you should coordinate with the sales rep to get a demo in addition to trying the tool by yourself. This applies to any tool. Trying it by yourself gives you a real taste of the tool, demos are done by professionals and everything will look easy.

Oracle database license compliance

Does any one have a query to collect all the oracle Database(9.0) options installed and also what is being used in the database for license compliance.

You can check the options installed by querying V$option. But, you may have to manually check with your source (licensing agreement) as to what products are licensed for use....I don't think a script can do it...unless you put that licensing information in some kind of table or text file to compare against.

Oracle EE License - Different plattforms

Hello guys,
i have a question regarding the licensing model of oracle and didn't find any information about that online.
We licensed our database mostly on "Processor Perpetual" ... over the years and providing many database we have reached round about 16 Oracle EE licensed programs on amount of CPUs.
These 16 EE licensed programs were bought for IBM AIX over years.
Now we have reached a point were some EE licenses are free again and we want to install some databases on Linux.
Can we use these free EE licensed programs also for a different platform (in our case for Linux) or do we have to buy "new licensed programs" for Linux?
I am just talking about "the licensed programs (Oracle Database EE)" not about Software Update License & Support.

My understanding is you will require additional licences for the new installation in production. However, I am not an Oracle employee, a licencing expert or a lawyer, so I advise you to discuss this with your Oracle account manager.

Oracle 10g Licensing Query

Hi,
I have a query with regards to Oracle 10g licensing for additional options (OLAP, Data Mining, Partitioning, Spatial & Database Vault) on top of enterprise edition.
Even though i am not using any of the options, i have them installed along with enterprise edition. Do i still need to pay for these additional options?
From 10g, you can always prove to oracle that any of the features/options are not in use via DBA_FEATURE_USAGE_STATISTICS.
We are using shared infrastructure for hosting many application databases. Today we have a application that uses only partitioning, but tommorrow we might have to create a database within the same oracle home that uses OLAP & data mining as well.
would be interested in knowing what is oracle stand on this i.e. we pay for additional options only if we are using them or we pay just because they are installed regardless of we are using them or not??

You need to pay licenses if you are using it commercially and if it is installed and you haven't paid for it then how would you stop anyone not using it because its not paid but its there. This will be against your contractual agreement and they may fine you or you have to pay for the options. So I recommend not to install options you haven't paid for to avoid any issues. But if you are using for learning purpose and not commercial then you are good. You can further contact local Oracle Support or local Sales rep for more information

Oracle Product Workbench - connection issue with EBS 12.1.3

Hi,
we've upgraded EBS to 12.1.3 and our Product Workbench is no longer able to retrieve the organization info from the server. We're checking the Packet details in Network Statistics in that case an also when View Concurrent Requests is opened and the server sends back the login page. So apparently PWB cannot log in to the server and is requested to enter credentials.

The issue was a "_" char in the hostname.This must be changed as is not IETF-compliant and therefore not a supported character and is known to cause problems. Refer RFC 952 (http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc0952.txt) for more information. This is also documented in Microsoft article Q275033 "Cookies Are Not Saved If the Host Name Is Invalid", this feature was introduced from IE 5.01 SP1 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;275033

Oracle XE license trade mark

Hi guys,
I read a lot of threads regarding the XE (+apex + listener) license and I think/hope I understood it correctly.
Seems like XE has a license that is free and you are able to use the DB for production products. In that license you have apex and listener.(I am not 100% sure about listener).
But the question is about the trademark:
This is what oracle XE license says:
In marketing, promoting, or distributing the programs, you agree to make it clear that Oracle is the source of the programs. You shall include on all copies of the programs used or distributed by you:
A. A reproduction of Oracle's copyright notice; or
B. A copyright notice indicating that the copyright is vested in you containing the following:
1. A "c" in a circle and the word "copyright";
2. Your name;
3. The date of copyright; and
4. The words "All rights reserved."
Such notices shall be placed on the documentation, the sign-on screen for any software incorporating the programs, and any media containing the programs.
I have an online application with login screen that is accesed by the clients.
what is A. A reproduction of Oracle's copyright notice
and what is B? what does it mean?
In case of B do I need to have somewhere in the page something like '(c) copyright Alin 2014-2015 All rights reserved'?

Can't activate product-license key?

So i recently bought an acer windows 8 64 bits, and everything was going smoothly until one day a virus from the internet affected my system, and now most of my drivers are gone with no backup or any cd to install them, and windows doesn't function well
anymore, like i can't change lock screen or purchase from windows shop, and even a mtp USB errors with no solution, I've tried many methods like contacting the manufacture for support, and I even tried PC cleaner and it gave like a thousand error messages,
and the only solution is to use the license-product key, however my product-license key is invalid for some reason, and I don't have an original windows disc to do a proper format, so please help me, and sorry for dragging this, it just that I'm really frustrated,
hope you guys give links a video would be great because I'm not very knowledgeable about computers.
