  • What is impact of Complex procurment with retention on Oracle Project Cost?

    Hello Experts / Dina,
Can you please explain the flow and acrrual of cost when complex purchase order has been raised with multiple retention on Oracle Project and interface the cost to Oracle Project.
Example - Complex purchase order of contract consulting is raised with amount of 1000 GBP with 4 Milstone of 250 GBP upon 25% completion of work.
I wanted to know in this scenarion how the retention payment / invoice matches to purchase order impact on cost interface to project by using PRC:Interface cost to projects.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards
    :-)

    Hello,
As per Oracle Costing user guide on retainage.....
"Oracle Projects does not report on or interface project-related retainage distribution
lines as commitments or actual costs. Instead, Oracle Projects captures the full amount
of the expense as a commitment and, when applicable, for the funds check. Later, the
full amount of the expense is interfaced to Oracle Projects as an actual cost. Retainage is
related to the payment of the invoice and it ultimately does not have an impact on the
    overall project cost."
So in relation with my previous example, if period end accounting is enable on procurment side then on raising of purchase order of 1000GBP and interfacing cost to oracle project, will be treated as commitment amount(1000GBP)? and when the invoiced raised / matched and accounted for 1st milestone let say 300 GBP then complete 1000GBP will be interface as actual cost or just 300 GBP will be as actual cost?
Really appreciate if you can me help in understand. :-)
    Thanks

Please mention the details of the application release, database version and OS.
Does your application/database characterset support Arabic?
I would like to ask about arabic language in oracle projects, users would like to apply oracle projects in Arabic language, but there are several problems appeared during CRP2What kind of problems?
and the company that will apply modules said that Oracle doesn't support Arabic language for Oracle projects, what is your opinion? • Oracle BPM Enterprise User Guide

I want to know about the importance of using Oracle BPM Enterprise. Can any one help where i can get the "Oracle BPM Enterprise User Guide" document.
    Edited by: user613889 on May 7, 2010 3:16 AM

Here's where you can find all of the Oracle BPM 10g documentation: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/index.html
    Oracle BPM Studio 10g
Oracle BPM Studio is the integrated development and test environment where business analysts and developers can create, document and simulate process models, integrate services, create business rules and logic and create end user interfaces. Projects built in Studio can be deployed to Oracle BPM Enterprise. Although Studio has a small database (Derby) and Tomcat environment, these are only used for rapid testing. Studio's end user Workspace looks the same as Enterprise, but is limited to the number of concurrent users and the Workspace login only has a user id field and no password because it is only used for rapid and iterative testing. As a result, you cannot and should not use Studio's Workspace as your production environment.
    Oracle BPM Enterprise 10g
Oracle BPM Enterprise is the production environment. At its heart, it has an engine that manages and executes the business services according to rules in the designed process models. The platform supports high-availability, fail-over and backup capabilities for mission critical processing. The engine is J2EE compliant or can run separately on a standalone JVM. When run on a J2EE application server, the Engines can be clustered.
Work item instance information is automatically persisted in the Engine's database tables as the instances flow through processes.
Orchestrated processes running on the engine are automatically exposed as Web services and executed across both internal and external processes and other applications.
Oracle BPM Enterprise engines are managed through the Oracle BPM Process Administrator Console. This is a web-based client that enables administrators to monitor and administer the Engines remotely.
The Oracle BPM Enterprise engine is exposed via both a Java Process Application Program Interface (PAPI) and a web service API (PAPI-WS).

If the specific requirement is around training it may be worth contacting Oracle University as they may have local langusge manuals for courses conducted in country.
From a training perspective there may be someone who can give you information around Oracle Tutor. I seem to recollect that there were translation programs that came with this. However - it was a sales demo !!

  • Oracle Quality User's Guide in Portuguese

Where would I find the Oracle Quality User's Guide in the Portuguese Language?

The short answer: It might not exist; and if it does, I'm not sure how to find it.
The longer answer... I asked a doc group person whose expertise includes translation issues, and here's the situation in summary. Whether a manual is translated, and into which languages, varies among products. Relatively few manuals (as opposed to online help sets) are translated, and often into only certain languages.
The only way you might be able to find out if a Portuguese version of a specific book is available (and I assume you're talking about the Oracle Enterprise Data Quality for Product Data product) is to try a web search on what you expect to be the Portuguese translation of the book's title. (I know, how can you know exactly how the title will be translated if you haven't seen the translated book?) That might lead to some search matches for the book -- that is, if the book was translated into that particular language.
If there is a discussion forum devoted to Oracle Enterprise Data Quality for Product Data, you might try asking there if a Portuguese version is available for the exact title that you are interested in.

  • Oracle user guides

    Dear everyone
Does any one know if it is possible to purchase Oracle User Guides? I know they are available on the oracle website to view and download, but I find it easier to browse through a hard copy.
My current access to Oracle 10g is through my university so I don’t own a copy of Oracle myself. I am after the user manuals for PL/SQL, Oracle spatial and Oracle Georaster.
    Regards
    Timothy Langner

Thank you for the replies. I have already downloaded the documentation. However I was interested in possibly buying hard copies so I can browse through the references more easily.
I've since contacted Oracle to find out more about some of the hard copy documentation as it comes in volumns and their store isn't very clear on prices for volumn sets.

  • Attribute Functions in Oracle Project Management Setup

I have been trying to find the functionality and applicability of the menu option " Attribute Functions" that is available in Oracle Project Management Setup.
I have used attribute groups and context to create view / placeholders to capture additional information related to the project, but have not been able to figure out the applicability of Attribute Functions.
Please help me if anyone has used it or know how to use it.

    Hi,
Refer Oracle Project Management User Guide. (Section 2: Workplan and Progress Management)
Oracle Projects archives all submitted task and workplan progress. You can correct
submitted progress records and create backdated progress records.
    Backdating Progress
    ============
You can create backdated progress records to fill gaps in the progress history of a task
or project. You can select any non-cycle progress date prior to the system date and enter
    progress for this past date.
For example, you can enter backdated progress for a Friday in the past even if a project
has a progress cycle with Monday as the reporting day.
You enter an As of Date, progress status, a brief overview, comments, and physical
percent complete when you enter backdated progress.
Backdated progress transactions are for informational purposes

  • Oracle Projects integration to Primavera

    Hi,
We are integrating Oracle Projects to Primavera for a construction client.
    We are able to:
    - Send project header and wbs information from Oracle Projects to Primavera
    - Send activity and resource assignment from Primavera to Oracle
However, when we enter actual efforts and dates in Primavera, we are NOT able to interface this information back to Oracle Projects.
All setups as per 'E15794-01_PIP Integration pack.pdf' document and Project Management User Guide are done.
Has anyone done a Oracle Projects-Primavera integration, or has any clue? Thanks for your help in advance.
    Regards
    Balaji

    Hi Dean and Dina,
Thanks for your answers. Following is the missing info:
    - Yes, we are using the AIA PIP
    - We are using 'Workplan enabled' projects for integration with a 'Partially Shared Structure'
    - In integration options, we are only integrating 'Workplan' with a 'Working Version'
    - We are trying to send only progress information from P6 to Oracle Projects, not the time card info
Iniitially, when trying to send progress from P6 to Oracle Projects, we were getting the error - 'You cannot update a published version of the workplan'
However, after checking the following flags, we stopped getting any errors in AIA/middleware and still not getting any data into Oracle Projects:
Projects --> Setup --> Integration settings:
Integrate - Workplan - Send Task - Current Working Version
Integrate - Workplan - Receive Task
    Workplan --> setup:
    Allow Physical Percent Complete Collection
    Allow Physical Percent Complete Overrides
    Thanks for your help.
