Oracle R12 on Win XP Post Fresh Install Form Error
Hi Guys,
Please has anyone successfully and permanently resolved this issue after successfully installing and logged on to Oracle Apps R12 but consistently getting this error when trying to log on again to the forms. I installed R12 directly on Winxp and using IE8 as the browser.
"Frm-92101: There was a failure in the forms server during startup. This could happen due to invalid configuration. Please look into the web-server log file for details"
Steps followed to try to resolve issue but failed include:
Running successfully Autoconfig cmd,
Stopping/starting oracle process manager(Failed to stop but starting indicates services already running)
Disabling XSS filter.
Stopping and starting Oracle services
Anymore ideas will be appreciated.
Please do not provide me with metalink ids as I d not currently have access to it. I need direct solution if any.
Thanks in advance
Ify

Fresh install: GRUB2_BIOS error
Hi,
Just fresh installed Arch_X86-64 on my system. During the install, I skipped GRUB legacy alltogether, and chrooted to get and install GRUB2-BIOS instead (per GRUB2 wiki) in the first 440 bytes of /dev/sda. My system is a dual HD dual OS (win 7 as well), with a separate /boot partition). Afterwards I exited chroot, reboot, and got the following error message:
missing /boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod
Please advise!DSpider wrote:The new install method also uses the simple form: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ar … ll_Scripts
That might be where I saw it, actually, as I read through that page (and got very, very scared...).
Definitely an improvement over:
# grub-install --directory=/usr/lib/grub/i386-pc --target=i386-pc --boot-directory=/boot --recheck --debug /dev/sda
Ugh.
Definitely but how smart is it? That is, will it figure out correctly what it is meant to do and where it is meant to install? I usually need to do this when grub2 is updated:
modprobe efivars
grub-install --directory=/usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=arch_grub --boot-directory=/boot --recheck
Then I need to use efibootmgr to delete the extra entry this creates in the boot menu ("arch_grub") since that doesn't match whatever I have.
Is it smart enough to figure all that out?

ORACLE instance don't start on fresh installed operation system
I installed Oracle 10g Express Edition Unicode (10.2.0.1.0) on a new installed MS Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard SP2 32bit german.
All works fine. The Application Express Login was accessable thru http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex
But after a few reboots I cannot acces Oracle's apex site any longer. And all I changed was to install MS .NET Framework 3.5.
Since 8 am I'm searching a solution. I've read a lot of posts and articles that have the same problem with accessing the apex site, talking about ports, firewalls, log entries, the OacleXETNSListener. I checked it all but I didn't find a solution.
But what I noticed is that my instance is not running after a reboot. (I try it with several new installations of Windows and Oracle and it is reproducable). If I do "connect / as sysdba" I get the message "Connected to an idle instance.".
I've realized that I'm not the first person who is affected -> e.g. http://www.dbforums.com/oracle/1619995-service-started-but-databse-not-running.html
How can these happen when the system is completely new installed?
Be aware that I'm not an Oracle Database professional (today morning I was a totaly newbie. I never worked with Oracle Databases before). So maybe the solution is really trivial. But I am finished. Help me please. Please! :)
Thank you very much in advance for your reply.
Edited by: 873256 on 19.07.2011 01:22Thank you very much for your answers.
If I log in with */ as sysdba* the message is "Connected to an idle instance.". If I type startup in the console the ORACLE instance starts up, like sb92075 wrote in post 2. After that the apex site is reachable (The site http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex. Is it called apex site? I'm not sure.).
But If I restart the computer I have to do it again.
@Vishal Joshi
I'm not sure, how I can find the service tab. Do you mean the services in Windows -> Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services?
There, the services OracleServiceXE and OracleXETNSListener start automaticly. OracleJobSchedulerXE is disabled. OracleMTSRecoverySercice and OracleXEClrAgent start manually.
Or is it an option in an Oracle configuration?
My configuration file tnsnames.ora looks good I think:
XE =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = XE)
EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = PLSExtProc)
(PRESENTATION = RO)
ORACLR_CONNECTION_DATA =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = CLRExtProc)
(PRESENTATION = RO)
I'm at a loss. :(
Thank you very much in advance for your reply.

How to delete asset in Oracle R12 in a status "posted"
Hi all,
We upload about a lot(about 10 000) assets from mass addition template and run post mass addition. All the assets are all in the status "posted" and we just realized that we uploaded in the wrong period.
How can we delete all those assets. Please help with the steps.
Thankshello
please read the full document here:
Fixed Assets Mass Additions White Paper [ID 111097.1]
Delete Mass Additions is part of the “Clean Up” process that is supplied by
Oracle Assets. When reviewing your mass additions lines, you can place
lines that should not become assets in the DELETE queue. The Delete
Mass Additions program will take the following mass additions and place
them in the interim table FA_DELETED_MASS_ADDITIONS and delete
them from the FA_MASS_ADDITIONS table.
· Mass additions in the SPLIT queue for which you have already posted
the child mass addition lines created by the split.
· Mass additions in the POSTED queue that have already become assets.
· Mass additions in the DELETE queue.
i'll be grateful if inform me about the results.

PPM 9.1: unable to access app post fresh install
Followed the documentation for installing PPM 9.1 and did not encountered any errors. But when I access the application i.e. using the URL http://hostname/ProSight IIS throws the following error.
Server error in '/ProSight' Application.
construction of Prosight.Portfolios.BusinessLogic.Infrastructure.BusinessEntries.psreservedProperties+UI+UIProperties failed.
[attached the screenshot of the complete error.I have exactly the same problem And in my case no back-up
Have looked at some older support forums and this is not an isolated problem
If i search my machine I can't find the iphoto library anywhere.
If I "Create a new Library" and want to turn on icould to get the few photo's i have saved there then it tells me that my apple ID is use by another Library????
I cant find that Library.
Although I have had a mac for 2 years I do not know the in's and outs.
Have a tried a few suggestions from other forums but no luck
Any help appreciated!

Hi,
I am struggling with a completely clean installation of Server 2012 R2 and Exchange 2013 SP1. I followed these steps:
Installed Server OS
Windows Updates
Added Active Directory Role (This is a single standalone server that would have been SBS until it was dropped)
Added DHCP & DNS
Added Certificate Services
Added Windows Server Update Services (WID Database & WSUS Services)
Windows Updates
Added Media Foundation
Added File Server Resource Manager and Work Folders
Added Windows Server Backup
Windows Updates
Checked all running without errors in Server Manager and performed a full bare bones backup.
Ran Setup.exe from Exchange 2013 SP1 disc.
Installed Pre-requisites and then rebooted
Windows Updates
Ran Setup.exe from Exchange 2013 SP1 disc.
Installation completed without errors
Rebooted
Checked all running without errors in Server Manager.
I Launch Exchange Administrative Center and get "problem with website's server certificate error" (normal on machine with self-assigned certificates). Click Continue to Website and get:
Windows Security dialog box:
iexplore - "The server localhost is asking for your username and password. The server reports that it is from Digest"
however no username and password combination will work: have tried [Administrator]; [Domain\Administrator] even created a user to no avail.
I believe the issue is somewhere in the IIS configuration because I also get the same error when trying to log into the server website from either the server or another machine on the network.
I have tried the complete installation three times now: (full disclosure not all of the same features/roles each time). On the first attempt I got this error immediately and on try number 2 was able to get into the EAC and created the mailboxes
but then it started giving the same error. The above steps are try number 3.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Andy Halford
P.S. A Follow up which might be significant: The Default Web Site is not running and will not start (it was previously running before the Exchange installation) and when I try I get the message that Another Website may be using the same port however none
of the others (Exchange Back End or WSUS Administration) are using ports 80 or 443 and I still get the error when they are both stopped.Could you post the list of sites:
appcmd list site
The ones listening on port 80:
appcmd list site /bindings:http/*:80:
And on port 443:
appcmd list site /bindings:https/*:443:

Installed Forms 11g ok but do I need another HTTP Server to run APEX?
Friends,
I have posted this Installed Forms 11g ok but do I need another HTTP Server to run APEX? over in the Forms forum. I'm not sure if it's best suited to here?
I'm not chasing for an answer, just trying to find the correct place for my question.
Thanks
IanThe answer from a software licensing perspective depends on the licening model you are on. If Unified Workspace Licensing (UWL), then you already have license entitlement to CUP under the Business Edition of that licence program. If you are on a DLU or UCL-based license program, CUP is seperately licensed.
You will need s seperate MCS server.
Softphones again depend on your license schema. If UWL, each user is entitled to one softphone. DLU and UCL each charge for softphone usage seperately. -
Fresh install Win 8.1 Pro into Pavilion X2 (10", 32GB tablet)
Have a Pavilion X2 (32GB version) with Win 8.1 Bing.
Need to get into domain, therefore wanted to fresh install Win 8.1 Pro, at the same time remove the recovery partition for more space.
F10 to bios to set bootup to USB drive, pops in a Win 8.1 Pro x64 installation disc, but X2 refuses to boot to disc.
Is it the x64 version disc problem or have i missed some setting to make the X2 boot to disc properly??HI @Nikola84 ,

Installing Oracle R12 External HDD
Please can anyone provide with me with some good steps to install Oracle apps R12 based on the following information:
Windows 7 Professional on Laptop
HDD - 100gb
External HDD - 500gb
Ram- 2gb
Thanks in advance
IfyPlease can anyone provide with me with some good steps to install Oracle apps R12 based on the following information:Oracle E-Business Suite Installation Guide: Using Rapid Install
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B53825_08/current/acrobat/121oaig.pdf
Interesting Documents Concerning E-Business Suite 11i to R12 Upgrades [ID 850008.1] -- Release 12.1.x Operating Systems Install & Upgrade Notes
Windows 7 Professional on LaptopWindows 7 is not certified as an application tier node or as a database tier node. The list of supported Windows OS can be found in (Oracle E-Business Suite Installation and Upgrade Notes Release 12 (12.1.1) for Microsoft Windows Server (32-bit) [ID 761567.1]). If you want to use Linux, you can find the list of supported OS in the Linux docs referenced in [ID 850008.1].
Windows 7 can be your host OS, and pick one of the supported Windows/Linux to be your guest OS. You can use VMWare to install a supported OS and lay down the R12 software on this VM.
HDD - 100gb
External HDD - 500gbYou have sufficient space so you should be good -- The total space required for a standard system (not including the stage area) is 85 GB for a fresh install with a production database, and 233 GB for a fresh install with a Vision Demo database. Running Rapid Install from a stage area requires at least 47 GB to accommodate the file system and database files in the stage area.
You can still install EBS R12 on an external HDD with no issues.
Ram- 2gbYou need at least 4 GB for the R12 instance, and more RAM for the OS, so please consider adding more RAM.

Post Installation error oracle r12
Hi all,
Thanks for all your support,
I installed oracle r12 (db in one hard disk and application in another hard disk) But i encountered two things
failed in post install checks One is Jsp and another one login page. By the advice I run autoconfig file..It completed successfully. when i started services Except OC4J services remaining all are started.
I encountered the following error for forms OC4J and OACORE OC4J,
ERROR: Timed out (100000) :Interrupted Exception in oracle r12 Installation.
please suggest me....
Thanks & Regard.

Connect with sqlplus to Fresh Install R12 Vision ORA-12154
Summary:
Trying to connect with sqlplus to R12 Vision fresh install gives me ORA-12154.
Context:
Installed R12 12.1.1 Vision instance on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.4 x86-64 (SElinux disabled / no virtualisation). Followed [761566.1] and http://www.oraclenerd.com/2009/12/ebs-install-guide-part-1.html. I also followed instructions from [761566.1] on networking files to the best of my ability. Stuck as closely as possible to those two documents and also stuck to defaults as much as possible. All goes well with all tiers on the same machine (A). Startup and shutdown OK.
Extended description:
Now trying to connect using (latest) sqlplus on the same machine with the following:
======================================================================
[root@vizz u01]# ./ebs/R12VIS/db/tech_st/11.1.0/bin/sqlplus sys/change_on_install@VIS as sysdba
SQL*Plus: Release 11.1.0.7.0 - Production on Wed Jun 27 23:36:07 2012

ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
======================================================================
Also tried this with oravis and applvis, the two accounts managing the instance with identical results
The notoriously generic ORA-12154......
All the tnsnames.ora I can find give me VIS as the SID:
./ebs/R12VIS/inst/apps/VIS_vizz/admin/out/06260806/tnsnames.ora
./ebs/R12VIS/inst/apps/VIS_vizz/ora/10.1.2/network/admin/tnsnames.ora
./ebs/R12VIS/inst/apps/VIS_vizz/ora/10.1.3/network/admin/tnsnames.ora

./ebs/R12VIS/db/tech_st/11.1.0/network/admin/samples/tnsnames.ora
Just as those generated scripts (e.g. addbctl.sh) for starting and stopping the instance.
What am I missing here?
