ORACLE RAC 11.0.2.0.3 install in SOLARIS x64 11.1(or 11/11) issue

hello all,
i got issue when i install grid(11.0.2.0.3 for solaris x64 version), after install software and the run "root.sh" and got the follow error message:
/u01/app/11.2.0/grid/bin/srvctl start nodeapps -n solrac1 ... failed
FirstNode configuration failed at /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/crs/install/crsconfig_lib.pm line 9196.
/u01/app/11.2.0/grid/perl/bin/perl -I/u01/app/11.2.0/grid/perl/lib -I/u01/app/11.2.0/grid/crs/install /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/crs/install/rootcrs.pl execution failed
any one can help me about that?
and i got the same error for solaris x64 11/11 version.

Hello,
The motive behind using LDOm Guest domains as RAC node is to have a better control of the resource allocation, since i will be having more than one guest domains which should perform different functions. The customer wants to have ORACLE RAC alone (without sun cluster).
I will have two T5120's and one 2540 shared storage.
My plan of configuration is to have
Control&IO Domain with 8VCPU, 6GB mem
one LDOM guest domain on each physical machine with 8 VCPU's, 8GB of memory, shared n/w and disks participating as RAC node's. (Don't know yet if i will use solaris cluster or not)
one guest domain on each physical machine with 12 VCPU's, 14GB of memory, shared n/w and disks participating as BEA weblogic cluster nodes (not on solaris cluster)
One guest domain on each physical machine with 4 VCPU's, 4GB of memory,shared n/w and disks participating as apache web cluster (on solaris cluster)
Now, My question is, is it a supported configuration to have guest domains as Oracle RAC participants for 11gR2 (either with or without solaris cluster).
If I need to configure RAC nodes on solaris cluster, is it possible to have two independent clusters on LDOM , one 2 node cluster for RAC and another 2 node cluster for apache web?

Problem Description
다음은 SF(Storage Foundation) Oracle RAC를 구성하기 위하여 Oracle CRS
PATCHSET 등을 적용하기 전에 SF Oracle RAC Veritas libraries 를 ORACLE_HOME에 설치해야 한다는 내용입니다.
또한, ORACLE CRS 패치 Version 을 올리면서 Veritas 쪽 관련하여 필요한
Veritas skgxp module 등이 설치 과정에 빠져 있거나 Veritas library file들이 overwrite되어 에러를 만나는 경우를 볼 수 있습니다.
이런 관점에서 Veritas storage foundation 을 설치하고 oracle CRS stack을
설치 또는 갱신하는 과정에서 만날 수 있는 에러에 대해 원인 및 해결방안을 알아봅니다.
에러 증상
다음은 CRS 10.2.0.3.0 Patchset이 설치되면서 Veritas library가 overwrite 되면서 발생하는 에러임.

여기서 2개의 node name이 galaxy 와 nebula 라고 가정합니다.
1. Invoke installsfrac once again:
# cd /opt/VRTS/install
#./installsfrac -configure
2. Enter the system names when prompted:
Enter the system names separated by spaces on which to configure
SFRAC: galaxy nebula
3. Navigate to the "Install and Relink Oracle" menu.
a. Select the appropriate Oracle 10g version (3):
1) Oracle 10gR1
2) Oracle 10gR2
b. Select "Relink Oracle" (3) from the menu:
1) Install Oracle Clusterware (CRS)
2) Install Oracle RDBMS server
3) Relink Oracle
b) [Go to previous menu]
c. From the menu displayed, enter the required information. For example:

6. Bring online the oracle resources configured under VCS. If they're directly controlled by CRS, you may run the CRS commands to start the instance.

Before you run the root.sh script, you need to add the init.cssd.patch.
a. Open another window on the system where you are running the installer
b. Log in as superuser
c. Change to the directory where the patch is to be copied:

# cd $CRS_HOME/css/admin
# cp /opt/VRTSvcs/rac/patch /init.cssd-10gR1.patch .
For Oracle 10gR2:
# cd $CRS_HOME/css/admin
# cp /opt/VRTSvcs/rac/patch /init.cssd-10gR2.patch .
d. Run the following command to install the patch:
For Oracle 10gR1:
# patch < init.cssd-10gR1.patch init.cssd
For Oracle 10gR2:
# patch < init.cssd-10gR2.patch init.cssd
e. Run the root.sh script. For example:
# cd $CRS_HOME
# ./root.sh
This starts the CRS daemons on the node where you enter the command.

Oracle RAC 10g R2 And SUSE SLES10

Hi there guys
I downloaded oracle rac 10 R2 and tried to install it using OpenSuse Linux 10.1
which resulted in an unsoported OS error.. the documentations says about SLES9
which I do not have, my provider has SLES10, I'd like to know is If need
SLES9 at all, or if I can install it using SLES10 which is newer of course,
I do not want to buy SLES10 if it wont work anyway.

How an aplications sever will communicate with Oracle RAC?

Hi, I wonder how the applacations server will communicate with the two nodes Oracle RAC. Do I have to install an Oracle client to the application server and configure tnsname.ora file to connect with the nodes?
Have any one any experience to share and help me?

Solaris x64 install (wan boot / flash archive)

Hi,
I need to install a Solaris x64 on a x2200m2, it's the first Sun machine on that network, no boot server or jumpstart server around.
I am thinking to use wan boot on x64, but it seems that wan boot only support sparc platform, is that true?
the other way i want to do is to make a bootable dvdrom with flash archive in it. anyone have experience on that?

There is actually a Sun blueprint for creating a boot DVD with flash archive integrated.
I don't have it handy; but it covers the basics.

I had this problem and resolved it by transporting the file to the installation server with the correct ftp datatype (binary).
On page 54 of the install guide (..Server\Oracle_Business_Intelligence\doc\doc\bi.1013\b31765.pdf) that comes with the installation files, there is an instruction to make sure that any ftp activity is done in binary.
This may not have occured with the license.xml file if you use a tool which offers the "feature" of automatic datatype recognition.

Oracle RAC with ASM install failure

I've just rebuilt an Oracle RAC system, i've built this system many times and have the build documented. I usually follow the build doc to the tee and everything works fine. I have now been asked to rebuild the system to go into the production evironment. This is a two server standard RAC setup using ASM. We have a HP MSA500 shared storage setup. I've run the cluster verification tool and all the checks have come out fine. Whilst installing the clusterware i get a failed error message whilst it try's to confiure the Oracle Clusterware Configuration Assistant.
The error message i get is:
Command = C:\Windows\system 32\cmd\C Call E:\Oracle\Product\10.2.0\crs\install\crssetup.config.bat
PROT-1:Failed to intialize OCR Config
STEP 1 Checking status of CRS cluster
STEP 2 Creating directories (E:\Oracle\Product\10.2.0\Crs
STEP 3 Configuring OCR repository
ocr upgrade failed with (-1)
I've done this build many times and never seen this error. From what i've read on the internet it looks like it could be something up with my shared storage but i dont know what.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

try to apply ''dd' command against OCR & Voting disks to ensure that their headers are formatted 100% and contains no data from old installation:
dd if=/dev/zero of=YOUR_OCR_DISK bs=1024 count=10000
dd if=/dev/zero of=YOUR_VOTE_DISK bs=1024 count=10000

Installing OIM 9.1.0.2 on Oracle RAC

I have a question about installing Oracle Identity Manager, Oracle Identity Manager need to install 9.1.0.2 as a repository having an Oracle RAC database, my question is: when you run the script prepare_xl_db.sh Do I need to edit this file to prepare the Oracle database on RAC? or can be run without any parameter edit and prepare the Oracle database in RAC

I am a fresher and I have a win 7 system 32 bit with oracle 11gR2.
I want to install RAC using two or more servers but I dont know too much about it.
I tried to search on google but all they are giving information in pieces(for win 7) or about Linux(Please tell me why its all Linux everywhere not windows).
Please let me know if there any site where I can find step by step installation from scratch.

First of all forget about Windows!! Oracle is mainly designed for Linux systems. Oracle runs as real multi-process on Linux machines whereas on Windows it runs as a single process with multi-thread.
Memory usage - huge pages,single CPU run queue, dnfs, storage systems... etc. lots of concepts exists.
Besides Windows is one of the most poorly designed operating systems, you should use it only to watch cute kitten movies on youtube... Believe me, you wouldn't want to learn Oracle on Windows...
So, install virtualbox and then setup Oracle Enterprise Linux on it as a first step... By the way you have to deal with DNS server for release 11.X, RAC, you may start with 10g for now.
ORACLE-BASE has all the installation steps explained detailly, search for "oracle base rac install" on google.

I suggest you use Oracle Enterprise Linux on your lab. There are a lot of step-by-step guide to install RAC on OEL. A good example is by Tim Hall, search Google for "Tim Hall Oracle Database RAC Installation".

How to change permissions on shared storage to install Oracle RAC on vmware

Hello:
- I am trying to install Oracle RAC using vmware.
- But when I try to change permissions for the shared storage,
the owner and group of the shared storage does not change.
- Has some else installed Oracle RAC onto vmware ?
- I am using Oracle RAC 10.2.0, solaris 5.10 x86
