Oracle RAC support in CIAC

Hi,
Does CIAC support Oracle RAC clusters? I'd like to put a bit of resilience on the Oracle database backend and so would like to setup an Oracle RAC. If I did would this invalidate any support if there was an issue with connectiviity to the database.
Regards,
Mohammed Rakhada

Cisco Advanced Services have a service to install using RAC One Node, and PO supports RAC as well.

  • DI and Oracle RAC support

    Hello,
Do you know if DI 12 support Oracle configured in RAC mode?
if yes, how is it possible configure a Datastore for Oracle RAC configuration?
    Thanks,
    Renato

Yes, RAC is supported. Your TNSNames.ora entry wil look slightly different but from the datastore you just mention the tns alias as before.

  • Oracle RAC support more then one database

My company's requirement is to have multiple database, instead of multiple schemas in the same databsae. The only reason to have multiple database is to support different applications with different database versions. for eg. One application sitting in Oracle RAC with have version 10.02.0.0. and other applications will have 10.02.0.2.

You can have multiple instances on a node or multiple databases on one RAC cluster. However a more important factor that should be considered is to ensure that the servers are capable of handling the additional workload.
Also to consider is the software compatibilities between various versions of Oracle RDBMS, ASM and the Oracle Clusterware.

  • Oracle RAC support NFS in AIX

    May I ask a question...
My environment: SAP run on the AIX. may I use the Oracle RAC by NFS in AIX for Oracle HA ...?

    Hi Dennie,
As far as I read from the development update SAP on Oracle, SAP supports NAS NSF with RAC 11.2 on all Unix platforms. Check the link http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d053aa41-75b6-2d10-95b5-9a961a5ae750?quicklink=ora&overridelayout=true
    Check the statement in the note "1416773 - Oracle Direct NFS", below;
Advantages of Oracle Direct NFS :
Since NFS is a shared file system, you can also use this
implementation for Real Application Clusters (RACs). Oracle Direct NFS
recognizes if an instance is part of an RAC installation.

  • Oracle RAC SOlaris 10 in Containers or in LDOMs

I want to run Oracle RAC in Solaris 10 containers or in Logical Domains. Is ORacle RAC supported in Containers or LDOMs? Has anyone experinece with these Oracle RAC environments?

I didn't see your system listed in the Solaris or OpenSolaris hardware compatibility list. It may very well be that it is not supported for Solaris. Check here to see: http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/search.jsp
You may also want to contact Sun and see if it is supported.

  • SAP - Oracle RAC - Linux - VMware

    Hi,
we would like to install SAP on a virtual environment (VMware) on Linux RedHat  platform.
For the database, Oracle RAC is certified with OCFS2 (1.6) only with Oracle Linux and not RedHat Linux 5.
Can we intstall Oracle RAC database on 2 nodes with Oracle Linux and OCFS2 and other SAP components on Redhat Linux 5 ?
Are there any issues with SAP matrix compatibility ?
    Thank you!
    Dan

    Hi Audun,
    Thank you for the links.
I can see the ASM support is new (2.2.2011)
On Note 527843 from 25.01.2011 - Oracle RAC support in the SAP environment
Using raw devices and ASM (Automatic Storage Management) is not supported in the SAP environment. In the case of ASM, there is an exception regarding the Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) and the voting disks
    and
on Note 1550133 - Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) from 2 Feb 2011 they support ASM but with restrictions:
ACFS is required for RAC installations with ASM
To use ASM now, you have to migrate your database to ASM manually
Some important functions of SAP BR*Tools like backup, restore, recovery, tablespace and datafile management are not supported at the moment
Support for tablespace and datafile management is planned for Q2/2011
Also ASM instance will introduce another layer in the system with its problems, failures and resources consumption. I see on the Oracle Metalink alot of problems related to ASM. From the marketin point of view is ok, let's oracle do everything but I think if you will keep it simple it will be better.
I didn't figure out if you can directly install Oracle 11.2.0.2, they say "Allows direct SAP system installations with Oracle 11.2"
We have a vBlock hardware with flash disks as FAST Cache so I believe with 1TB of cache IO will not be a problem.
    Thank you!

  • How similar is HACMP to Oracle RAC?

    Gurus:
Have you compared HACMP with Oracle RAC? If so, could you share the difference and the similarity?
    Thanks!

    Hi Linda,
seems to be a likewise question as
How similar is HACMP to MSCS?
In fact, you use them together:

  • Oracle RAC and ASM for SAP in SLES

    Hello,
We are installing our SAP ERP with Oracle RAC 11.2.0.2 on SLES 11 x86_64. According note 527843 (Oracle RAC support in the SAP environment), this is supported for SAP. But as a requirement ASM Cluster File System must be setup.
But when Oracle Grid is installed, ACFS installation returns the following error:
ACFS-9459: ADVM/ACFS is not supported on this OS version: 'sles-release-11.1-1.152'
So Oracle GRID has been installed without ACFS, so we will not be able to use Oracle Clusterware for providing high availability of SAP.
As this is supposed to be a feasible combination (Oracle RAC 11.2.0.2 with ASM on SLES 11 SP1, Netweaver 7.0), I'm wondering if it is a bug, a lack of documentation or something I'm missing.
    Kind regards,
    Fermí

    Read this below Oracle Note:
ACFS not supported on certain platforms [ID 1075058.1]
    oracle@node1:~/app/oracle/product/grid/log/node1> tail -1 alertesiha.log
[client(14083)]CRS-10001:ADVM/ACFS is not supported on SUSE
Then these can be ignored, since ACFS/ADVM may not be supported for your platform. As of this writing, Sun, AIX, SuSE 10 are all supported in 11.2.0.2 only.  HP-UX, SuSe 11 and RH6.0, as well as Oracle UEK ((2.6.32-100*) are not yet supported in 11.2.0.2. Keep in mind that this does not prevent your Grid Infrastructure stack (Clusterware and ASM) from starting.  This is just an informational message for these platforms
    Extract from SAP Note:
    RAC 11.2.0.2 (x86 & x86_64 only):
    Oracle Clusterware 11.2.0.2 + ASM/ACFS 11.2.0.2 (currently only for SLES10, RHEL5, OL 5.x (without UEK))

  • FDM is not supported on Oracle RAC?  Why not?

[http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/fdm_11113_readme.pdf|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/fdm_11113_readme.pdf] We are in the process of implementing Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management (FDM) version 11.1.1.3 as part of our Hyperion Essbase BI environment. I read over the documentation prior to building the databases, but apparently I missed an important bit of information. It seems that FDM is not supported on Oracle RAC. I just noticed this under in the "Known Issues" section of the FDM 11.1.1.3 release notes, and that was only one sentence. The release notes do not explain why this is the case.
    - Does anyone know why FDM release 11.1.1.3 is not supported for Oracle RAC?
    - Has this always been the case?
    - Can a single node database, running on an Oracle 10.2.0.4 two node RAC environment, be used instead of building a separate, stand-alone database?
Link to readme document. The reference to RAC support, or non-support, is on page 6:

    Hi Daan,
I belive we all shoud consider http://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=939
I get upset to see people on this forum who answer the questions like *'use google'* or *'let me google it for you'* or *'use this forum filter'*
I belive it is better to help them answer a better question or if you don't like the question ignore it.
    Hi user10511107,
I belive your problem is with Windows not with BI, BI just can't get windows version,
If you are on right version of windows go to MSDN and search for your error and how to fix it

  • Oracle RAC DIF/DIX support

Does Oracle RAC database support DIF/DIX for data integrity? I am assuming this should be supported  with the use of UEK2/3 kernel. Thanks.

Considering Oracle wrote DIF/DIX support for Linux, yes it does. It requires the use of ASMlib as well.

  • Oracle RAC/3rd party clusterware support question

Does anyone know if Oracle supports a Linux RAC system also running HP Ibrix clusterware? I was not able to find a list of certified 3rd party clusterware vendors that Oracle will support to run with RAC. If anyone has this information, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the response, the versions would be RHEL5, 11g rac/rdbms, using HP Ibrix as 3rd party clusterware.
I'll open an SR if I can't find the information I need on this forum, but I prefer to reserve opening SR's for technical issues and after I've done dilligence to find the information.
If anyone has come accross this information, please let me know. Thanks!
