XioTech is a SAN company that has a project called "THE TENS". They configured and ran a 10 node RH Linux Oralce 9i RAC. I understand they want to see if 32 are possible. I am sure if you ask them, they would be happy to give you the details.

Oracle RAC support more then one database

My company's requirement is to have multiple database, instead of multiple schemas in the same databsae. The only reason to have multiple database is to support different applications with different database versions. for eg. One application sitting in Oracle RAC with have version 10.02.0.0. and other applications will have 10.02.0.2.

You can have multiple instances on a node or multiple databases on one RAC cluster. However a more important factor that should be considered is to ensure that the servers are capable of handling the additional workload.
Also to consider is the software compatibilities between various versions of Oracle RDBMS, ASM and the Oracle Clusterware.

When the disk /dev/did/dsk/d2 failed (I have failed it by removing from the array), the oracle RAC went offline on both nodes, and then both nodes paniced and rebooted. Now the #clrg status shows below output.

crs is not started in any of the nodes. I would like to know if anybody faced this kind of a problem when using QFS on diskgroup. When one disk is failed, the oracle is not supposed to go offline as the other disk is working, and also my qfs configuration is to mirror these two disks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure why you say QFS is mirroring these disks!?!? Shared QFS has no inherent mirroring capability. It relies on the underlying volume manager (VM) or array to do that for it. If you need to mirror you storage, you do it at the VM level by creating a mirrored metadevice.

nodes on one server, while 3.51 supported up to 14. If you have a Calendar
Server 3.51 with more than 9 nodes that you want to upgrade to Calendar Server
4.0, Netscape recommends that you migrate the extra nodes to another Calendar
Server 3.51 on another Windows NT system. To accomplish this:

<LI>Install Calendar Server on another Windows NT machine and configure it to
use the same directory server as your current Calendar Server.
<LI>Stop and backup your current Calendar Server.
<LI>Individually zip up the node directories you want to move to the new
server. (drive:\unsers\unison\db\Nx
where "x" is the number of the node you want to use.)
<LI>Stop the new Calendar Server.
<LI>Unzip the files into the new Calendar Server in the same place as they
were on the old server.
<LI>Edit the unison.ini
file on the new server to add the nodes you have just migrated.

Use Disk Utility whihc is in the Utilities Folder.
Select your Boot Disk on the left.
Select Verify Permissions
If any errors the do Reapir permissions.
You might have to repeat the process.

SQLLoader issues of Oracle RAC with ASM

One of our client wants to use Oracle RAC with ASM for our application, i just want to know if there would be any two-phased commit transactions and SQL*Loader issues in ASM.
Database is Oracle 10g

ASM works only at storage layer and has nothing to do with:
- distributed transactions
- client executable that connects to database instance: SQL*Loader, SQL*Plus, etc.
RAC has also nothing to do with distributed transactions: a RAC database is a single database with multiple instances but still a single database; there is no need to use distributed transactions because you have a RAC database.

TAF has nothing to do with the underlying storage architecture and is therefore 'supported' with your choice of asm, raw devices, cluster file system and NFS. NFS is supported on some platforms. For more details, check the certify tab in metalink. Some information can also be found here
TAF will be available on any rac installation, but not all drivers support it (jdbc-thin for example)

User can not add more then two products against one order

Hi frnd,
My requirement is in CRM while creating order using CRMD_ORDER transaction. The user can not be entered more then two products against one order.
I am using CRMD_ORDERADM_I_BADI badi to give error I am unable to use this badi. Is there any other options are there.

More then two attribute in to Hashtable

I want to store more then two attribute in to Hashtable, So i put the values into class and store the object into the Hashtable.
Every thing works fine, but how to retrieve the values which are stored in to the object.
name,sessionid and time are the 3 attribute which i store in the
Session class. In the hashtable a key("AAA","BBB") and the object is
stored.I want to get all the attribute values which are stored for a particular key.
When i display the content of the hashtable for a key,

You can get the drop down list by either right-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears.

Hi,
Check the iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section > Bandwidth setting.
iChat needs to see a Minimum of 128kbps to do 1-1 chats in Video
For 3 and 4 way chats it needs 384kbps
Set the Bandwidth to 500kbps if it is set lower.
Also check the speed you are getting from your Internet supplier.

Process message characteristic with more then ( ) 30 digits in PI-sheet

Dear all,
I am looking for a solution to populate a process message characteristic with more then 30 digits in the PI
sheet and not during control recipe generation.
I have defined a customer characteristic (with O27C) in the `Additional data for Process Instructions
and Messages` with a length of 40 Characters. Next to that in my process message i added a function
to retrieve the material master text (40 digits) and to put it into the customer characteristic as an output.
However in this set-up I get an sytax error that blocks the generation of the control recipe. The syntax
erro is due to the fact that the long text characteristic should have a value. Obviously it does not,
because I want to retrieve it from the material description. Note that the material number I use to retrieve
the text, is selected in the PI sheet itself an is unknown (unplanned Issue) at generation.
Please advise.

Its BPM Standard cubeCube , 0BPM_C01 and we are populating 0fiscyear based on Instance-Id.
I have reloaded the cube and maintained Index, checked DB Stat, Roll up , compression all are done, but still facing the same issues.
Please provide me your inputs if you faced the similar issue.

CS6 Playback problems with more then 3 Video Layers

I am having problems playing back a project with more then 3 HD video-layers (PIP and MultiCam).
After one second playback of video stops and I can only hear audio.
The same projecet in CS5.5 can be played with 8 !!!! active HD video layers without problems ...
Must have something to do with disk IO - I can play 9 HD streams with multicam if I use the same video on all 9 layers (each with a few frames offset)
I920,18GB RAM,GTX 680,9TB Raid5

I allready deleted the cache and db files - even shift&alt startup didn´t change anything.
yes - MPE is enabled for the new CS6 project ;-)
In CS6 I can playback 9 HD streams with 3way-cc in multicam mode - as long as its the same clip 9 times - each with a few frames offset
as soon as I change the offset for each video to 30sec, playback gets choppy after 1 or 2 seconds and after 2-4 seconds it only shows 1 frame every 1 or 2 seconds (or stopps)
... tested with canon-hdv, canon-dslr and gopro2 material - no difference
Right now I cant even play 2 video streams in CS6 while CS5.5 still works with all 8 layers ....

Configure OEM in Oracle 10.2.0.4 Two nodes RAC

I'm having some troubles making rigth configuration for OEM in my RAC.
Everything during installation or configuracion seems ok but later it's all wrong.
The point is:
Global database is ON and every of two nodes is also ON. I can accees it from inside and outside the server nodes.
CRS shows everything OK with all services and resources ONLINE.

EM Daemon is running.

I eclipse I check for my ear project on Project Facets : Admin Console, Admin Framework, Portal Application Services, Portal Customizations Framework.
I have a cluster with two servers. As a database I use Oracle 10 with two instances : instance 1, instance 2. I have created my domain with wizard and I checked RAC Multidatasources.

This issue is beyond simple WLS JDBC. I suggest opening a WLS portal bug.

Oracle Rac - Targetting clients to particular nodes?

We have a deployment case that wanted to find out best practices.
Currently there is a two node RAC setup.
We have an application that on one side -- is a high write, minor read component -- and another side which is mostly read and minor write. Each component uses multiple connections and have logical separations of what tables they are writing to.
The current proposed solution is to target the high write components to one node instance -- while distributing the other component, which does A LOT of reading and some writing, across both RAC instances.
The question is what is the best paradigm for this: Any documentation of when to target components to single instances versus letting RAC do it's own distribution/etc. There are different user accounts for the components that do the high volume writing versus the selecting/etc..

On Oracle RAC 9i you don't have this feature.
You can direct connections to nodes that have characteristics in common workload using Oracle Services.
To manage workloads or a group of applications, you can define services that you assign to a particular application or to a subset of an application's operations. You can also group work by type under services.
Oracle recommends that all users who share a service have the same service level requirements. You can define specific characteristics for services and each service can be a separate unit of work. There are many options that you can take advantage of when using services. Although you do not have to implement these options, using them helps optimize application performance.
When you define a service, you define which instances normally support that service. These are known as the PREFERRED instances. You can also define other instances to support a service if the service's preferred instance fails. These are known as AVAILABLE instances.
Services are integrated with Resource Manager, which enables you to restrict the resources that are used by the users who connect with a service in an instance. The Resource Manager enables you to map a consumer group to a service so that users who connect with the service are members of the specified consumer group.
Using a Service (11.1 or later) when you execute a SQL statement in parallel, the parallel processes only run on the instances that offer the service with which you originally connected to the database. This is the default behavior. This does not affect other parallel operations such as parallel recovery or the processing of GV$ queries. To override this behavior, set a value for the PARALLEL_INSTANCE_GROUP initialization parameter.
You'll have much more concept to learn how it works than to know how to configure.
