  • Oracle reports(9i) as destype=file and desformat=dflt

    Hello,
    I have a front end in forms which give a call to run a report on press of button.The report(9i) is not using charecter mode runtime.It is giving me error though dflt.prt is already there in the printer file under oracle home directory.
    Can any one tell me why is it unable to get this prt file.
    Is it beacuse that we can use these prt files in charecter mode only.
    If yes,how can i use it to run my report from forms with charecter mode runtime? When i try the same i am getting an error saying charecter mode runtime is not allowed.
    Cheers,

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
    Clustering seems to be very good feature of the Oracle Reports server however in our application we do not want more than one server. The problem which I face is mentioned below:
    1. We have a server application which actually starts the oracle rwserver.exe in a separate process during its initialization.
    2. Whenever this server application receives a report request it from some client then it executes the reports by calling rwclient.exe through a separate process which in turns submits the request to rwserver.exe
    3. My problem is that in our network we can have multple such server application running different releases. For this we need to run the rwserver on all the machines where my server application is running.
    4. In this scenario this Smart agent (osagent.exe) is preventing me to make the different servers applications of different releases to be up and running.
    5. How can I configure my rwserver.exe/osagent.exe so that it remains concerned with the specific machine on which it is running.
    Thanks

  • REP-52266: The in-process Reports Server rep_adminserver_ikit_asinst_1 failed to start.oracle.reports.RWException: IDL:oracle/reports/RWException:1.0

    Hi,
    I have installed oracle forms and reports 11gR2 on Windows 7 Professional 64bit (and configured in development mode), the forms are working fine but when i run a report i get this message
    REP-52266: The in-process Reports Server rep_adminserver_ikit_asinst_1 failed to start.oracle.reports.RWException: IDL:oracle/reports/RWException:1.0

    I was trying to add a new destination:
       <destination class="oracle.reports.server.DesMail" destype="mail"/>
    I couldn't make it work , so I commented my changes.
    In fact, I should have gone back to a backup file , as weblogic seemed to have changed the file itself!! (attributes of the xml tags were in different order, and more things ...) but just undoing what I have done did the trick.
    This file seems to be quite picky, I left this tag uncommented
       </pluginParam>
    and the same REP-5226 error happened.

  • [Secure Configuration] Oracle Reports 10g Email Configuration...

    Hi Everyone,
    In oracle Reports 10g, we have an option of sending mail as an attachment using destype = mail and desname = [email protected] For this to happen we have to add the outgoing mail server name in the <report server>.conf file. Once we configure this setting, end-users can send any report to any mail-id. So, how to make an secured configuration so that they can send only those allowed reports?
    Note: We have already many reports which are already deployed. So we cant incorporate the validation or some logic within the each report.

    hello dsegard,
    Thanks for you help. I tried the way which you had said. I have incorporated the security tag in the conf file and included the XMLSecurity Project( Deployed the JAR file and done necessary configuration). Now, I dont know how to use it.
    Is there any alternative way for this? Is there any way that we can remove the default options provided by the Oracle Reports under the Destype?

  • Is destype avaailable in oracle reports version 3.0?

    I need to be able to export the output from oracle reports 3.0 to an excel file. Can this be done? If so, how?

    Here at the University of New Mexico, we have been successful in running both the Windows 95 versions of Oracle Reports 3.0 and Reports 6.0 runtimes for our Oracle applications on Windows 98. It seems to be pretty compatible with the Windows 95 version of Oracle.
    However, we do our development on NT 4, so don't know how well the development would work on Windows 98.

  • How to automatically attached multiple PDF reports to an e-mail and send

    Hello.
    I have a requirement to generate multiple PDF reports using Oracle Reports 6i on the web, then automatically attach these PDF reports to an Outlook e-mail and then bring up the Outlook e-mail dialog box so the user can modify the e-mail (such as adding more attachments, adding a CC, BC, change the message text) before sending the e-mail. I want to be able to initiate all these tasks from Oracle webforms 6i in a three-tier environment.
    I have already read various notes and solutions but none of them address all my requirements. Examples:
    1. Using OLE to interface with Outlook - but OLE does now work on the Web
    2. Using Java stored procedure or UTL_SMTP - but this does not bring-up an e-mail dialog box
    3. Using mailto: in HTML and web.show_document - but this does not allow you to attach a PDF file
    Can you please advise on possible solutions to my requirements. Thank you very much.
    Regards,
    Armando

    Here is a great resource for sending binaries.
    http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/pl_sql/htdocs/Utl_Smtp_Sample.html
    You'll want to use utl_http to run each report with a destype=file and then have another procedure running to check to see when all of your reports have finished. After they are finished, you would run the stored procedure to get all of the binaries, attach them in an email and then send it.
    If you want to concate all of the PDF files into one large file, you can do this with a Java stored procedure using iText.

  • How to email oracle reports in pdf as attachments

    Hi,
    I am dynamically generating pdf files from oracle reports accessed from a web application. I need to email this pdf file as an attachment. I set destype=mail, desformat=pdf or html and desname=to the email address. The email get sent with the file text included in the email, NOT AS AN ATTACHMENT. How can I include the file as an attachment?
    Oracle Home is on a UNIX box.
    Regards,
    Monica

    Hi Monica,
    You could use a feature called distribution. You specify you email-related parameters in an XML file (say distribution.xml), and run the report by adding the following to your command line:
    ...+distribute=yes+destination=distribution.xml
    Inside the XML file you can specify the attachment, eg (this is just a sample, not the complete file):
    <mail id="ex2"
    to="<email_ID>"
    from="<email_ID>"
    subject="This mail contains the files for Department 10">
    <body srcType="text">
    This is the body of the message.
    </body>
    <attach format="pdf" name="Dept_10.pdf" srcType="report">
    <include src="report"/>
    </attach>
    </mail>
    See complete documentation of the distribution file in Publishing Reports (version 10g) chapter 15. You can also see a sample of distribution in Building Reports manual (version 10g) chapter 36.

  • Assign the name of a file and its extension when using DESTYPE=MAIL

    Hello,
    I've developed a report running Oracle Reports 10g that is being emailed to a user. I would like to specify the name of the file and it's extension that is attached. Are there variables or parameters in Oracle Reports that I can use to accomplish this?
    It looks like by default that the file name is using the Name value found in the Property Inspector for the report. I have not been able to find a way to re-assign this value with a value from either the input or select values in the data model.
    Will Oracle Reports 10g allow me to define the name of the file and the extension?
    Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Jesse

    Thank you for the quick reply and information. I almost thought you had solved my problem until I found out that distribution and bursting do not support delimited and spreadsheet output. One of the two files I need to email has a desformat of SPREADSHEET.
    Is there any other way to manipulate the file name and extension when using destype of MAIL?

  • Evaluating Oracle Reports 9i

    I am looking for a reporting tool that can be used to build reports used via a Java Swing GUI AND via JSP/J2EE. I understand that Oracle Reports9i can do both...is this correct?
    How do I call Oracle Reports 9i from my Java Swing GUI?
    Also regarding the JSP reports....it seems as though I need to purchase an Oracle9iAS licence? Is this correct? Does anyone know how much this is...ball park? I would guess that this would make using Oracle Reports9i an expensive proposition.
    Does anyone know what other reporting tools I can evaluate?
    Kind regards,
    Paul.

    (1) TO CALL FROM JSP/HTML
    Your jsp report
    <%
    int empNumber = technicianBean.getEmployeeNumber() ;
    String desname = /home/user/worksheet + empNumber ; // A unique file for each employee
    %>
    <form action="http://hostname:8888/reports/servlet?report=/home/user/yourReport.rdf+userid=<dbuserid>+destype=file+desformat=html+desname=<%= desname %>+server=<serverName>+empno=<%= empNumber %> >
    <input type="submit" value="submit">
    </form>
    <!-- empno is the user parameter which will change from user to user -->
    <!-- hostname is the host where Reports OC4J instance is running -->
    * After the user clicks the button, the report will be handled by report servlet and generated in a file and the batch process can mail it .
    Instead you can specify destype=mail and Reports itself will mail it .
    * Where clause can be handled by user parameters .
    Eg Generate report for employeeNumber = 8118 , we set empno ( the user parameter ) as 8118 and run the request
    (2) TO CALL FROM SWING GUI
    When the user clicks the button add the following handler code
    String[] cmdArray = { "C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/iexplore", "http://hostname:8888/reports/servlet?report=/home/user/yourReport.rdf+userid=<dbuserid>destype=filedesformat=html+desname=<desname>server=<serverName>empno=<empNumber>" };
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmdArray);
    This will open a browser and submit the request to reports servlet
    Does this suffice for your requirement ?
    Thanks

  • Using destype=mail the smtp header options

    Hi
    We have used 6i reports for years and moved to 10g a while back.
    I have just found out that the 10g reports can have a few more parameters passed to them to imprvoe the destype=mail options, i.e. to, from, replyto etc.
    Does anyone have a list of these options.
    Is there yet the ability to add body text to these emails
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Yes, if you use the distribution :
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_17/bi.1012/b14048/pbr_dist.htm#i1005830
    <mail id="a1" to="[email protected]" subject="Results">
    <body srcType="text">
    Attached are quarterly results.
    </body>
    <attach srcType="report">
    <include src="headerSection"/>
    <include src="mainSection"/>
    </attach>
    </mail>
    In this example , the Body text will be "Attached are quarterly results." and the Reports output will be attached to the email

  • Pls help:sending oracle reports with desformat=spreadsheet to email

    Is there a way to send the reports with desformat=spreadheet to email(destype=mail). I tried to execute the commandline with destype=mail desname=[email protected] desformat=spreadsheet but I am getting a report with html type attachment. How could I make it xls(excel) instead of html

    When having lots of repeating frames and fields placed in a complex pattern, the Oracle Reports doesn't know how to place them in the .xls cells.
    You ought to have a second layout for the report (containing the same data) that would print when the desformat = spreadsheet and would be be rather simple in comparison to the one that would print when desformat=pdf/html.
    In case you have several repeating frames it is best to have all the fields in those frames placed and vertically aligned on the same row in the layout, from left to right. This should give a reasonable output.
