Oracle Report Bursting - Apps

Hi
I need to use the Oracle Report Bursting in oracle application 11.5.10.2, but i do not want to with xml template
Clarifications needed
1. i wanted to know if the bursting will work without creating a xml template
2. I do not want the output to send a mail, i wanted to ftp the output result based on the bursting(where bursting column is org_id)

Error in running oracle report on APPS due to print style

Hi
i have an oracle report which displays about 550 rows of data...When i try to run it with oracle apps i selelect landwide but i get an error as the defined style can not print that much amount of rows.Is there any toher style which prints this many amount of rows or i have to create a new print style.

Please tell us about your product, version and Application Server type. You may also want to note that Oracle Apps is different from Oracle Application Server .
Also intriguing is the error you report. Where and what exact error do you get? Error codes/messages need to be reported exactly (not paraphrased).
Was that in displaying the info or in printing it to a printer?

I have several custom reports developed with Oracle Developer that I am adding into Oracle applications. However, they are still using the default template(with Oracle corp image in upper left hand corner). I want these custom reports to be identical with the Oracle apps reports. Is there an Oracle apps template and/or librarie(s) that I can use to pull this off?

Oracle Apps Reports are all Character Based Reports and not Bit Mapped Reports.
So Apps Reports will not support Templates and Apps does not provide any Templates for its reports as the way Oracle Apps Forms provides.
If at all you want the same look and feel of your Custom Reports to be as Apps Reports what you can do is :
1.In the Report Module Property Design in Charatcter Units should be set to No.
2.In Layout Model ensure the Units of Measurement is set to Character.
3.In Layout model do not include any formatting like Text Bold Italics.
4 In Oracle Apps Concurrent Programs ensure your View Output is set to Text.
Once these points are considered then i am sure you will be able to see your Custom Reports as the same look and feel of Oracle Apps Reports.

Oracle Reports 10g is compatible with 11.5.10 or not?
If Oracle Reports 6i is the only compatible version with 11.5.10 , from where I can download Oracle Reports 6i?

As you said 6i should come with ebs, If they are not able to find it can we raise an SR to get/download oracle reports 6i?I still cant get what is reason of you need to install 6i spreatly? Anyway it comes by default installation. Its mean you have it already,if you havent you cant work wiht ebs nomore.

Text output from Oracle Reports 6 and Apps

I am trying to write a couple of reports with Oracle Reports 6i that will be used as a comma delimited text file for import into other applications. I have the reports written and registered with Oracle Apps. However, I am having two problems that I can not figure out. (1) When the report is
exectuted and saved as a text file, it will not import into other programs such as Access, giving an error that one line contains too many characters. If I open the text file, there is a blank line (actually a new line with no data) at the very end. When I delete this new line so the cursor is
positioned after the last character of text and save the file - it will import fine. How do I avoid this problem? (2) One report has a lot of columns, and the data always comes out wrapped, even though it isn't
wrapped in the report writer that I can tell. The "wrapping" option on the text editor is turned off, so it looks like a new line is actually being created. Any ideas would be appreciated!

How Do You Debug Oracle Report Calls From Forms On The App Server?

I am working on a system which uses oracle forms and reports 10g.
In our system we call, we are calling oracle reports from oracle forms. How do we debug the form code when the form and report both are running on the application server in production.
To my knowledge, this can not be done when the form is running locally since there is only OC4J forms services locally.
I understand one views error messages through the jinitiator console but how does one turn on this facility? How do you determine what line the error occurred?
I am looking for step by step instructions as answer to this issue.

If you have the developer suite installed on your PC, run the report from your form and then follow this tree from the start button on your PC:
Developer Suite Home =>
Reports Developer =>
Oracle Application Server Report Services =>
Reports Queue Manager
Select View => Past Jobs and then find your report in the list, double-click the report entry and you'll see the error message that was generated by the Report Server when you tried to run the report.

I'm new to JDeveloper and Java, JSP etc. I'm trying to deploy a sample parameter form for JSP report. My question is: When I create a J2EE application using JDeveloper, how to make sure "The WEB-INF directory must contain the JSP tag library for Oracle Reports, called reports_tld.jar"? How to do it via JDeveloper?
In my JSP page, I use <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/lib/reports_tld.jar" prefix="rw" %>.

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

Printing forms - Oracle Reports in Oracle apps

Hi
I am tring to print the Despatch Order, We have a standard form for this purpose . . . I need to print the data into the right columns. . .
I am using Oracle Reports to pring these forms . . .Is there a standard way to place these items into correct location, to be able to print a neat form.
Or do I have to got the trial and error way . .. actually I even tried using the scale on the layout model window . .. did not give you nice result . ..

You may scan the form and use it as report background. Once you will be able to align the backgroupnd with the real form on printing (by iterations, there is no other way), you may use the backgroupnd to position all the field, and then delete the backgroupnd.
Another option would be to always use the background and pring on the plain paper.

Oracle Apps Report error "Oracle Reports Server CGI - The Reports Server Engine terminated abnormally."

I have modified layout of one existing custom report.
I have added 3 columns in the report , Now when I execute the report sometimes it gets executed with the newly added columns and sometimes it errors out with below error.
Error: The requested URL was not found, or cannot be served at this time.
Oracle Reports Server CGI - The Reports Server Engine terminated abnormally.
Any pointers in this regards will be appreciated.

I found there were some srw.message statement ( used for debugging purpose) were there , when I removed those statements. This error was gone.

How to use Oracle Reports in an enterprise app, wrt file i/o?

How are people architecting their enterprise applications to make use of Oracle Reports, with respect to transmission of the output?
Do you have session beans which call the Oracle Reports JSP pages, and have them write the output to file names, the names of which you then transmit to the web layer? Alternatively, is there any practical way to "stream" the output directly from the EJB layer to the web layer and to the client?

When you call the report server via an URL, with DESTYPE=CACHE, the output is directly sent to the web browser.
I am not sure to well understand you question, but if you want to control the report from a session bean, you can write a bean that call report server with an URL and get the output. Today, we do not have any EJB to control Oracle Reports.
I am interested by the type of beans/architecture you would like to see in Reports, could you please send me a detailled example of a type of bean you would like to have ? ([email protected])

I have built an Oracle report which resides on a Windows 4.0 / IIS application server with Oracle Reports installed.
(8i Database / 6i Developer 2000 suite). This works flawlessly when called from an Oracle Form.
My question is, how do I call the same report from portals and pass it the required parameters. Thanks!

You will have to encode your parameter value. The problem is because of the spaces in the value. Whenever there any special
characters in the value it should be encoded.
example

How to execute oracle reports file from jsp using WL as an app server

I plan to use jsp to accept IN parameters and later want to execute oracle
          report execute stored in some directory and provide results back to the
          client browser window. Is this possible in JSP + WL? If yes, can you
          provide some tips on the code?

sqlplus "sys/oracletest as sysdba" @bpk.sql
Working locally, and having set the ORACLE_SID, you don't need to specify the SqlNet alias (@testdb).
Remember to put an exit at the end of the bpk.sql script.

XML Publisher Report Bursting

I have created report using XML Publisher Report Bursting. The output-type of the report is pdf..

But if I change the format to xls it's showing error and the report is not getting created.
