Hi,
When i used to get only one page the options like facing, continuous facing are disabled. And displays only single page.
These options are enabled only when there are multiple pages in pdf.
One more thing i found that it happens when I first view the report as pdf it displays
all the pages, then i change the display format to csv and again when i change
the format to pdf the problem starts.
And when I will restart the report server service, it works fine again until i wont view it in CSV format.

Hi all!!

Please!!!!They are completely different languages and technologies. Cobol deals with flat files of data processed in sort of scanning/looping/reading back and forth ways (God how I hated Cobol!). As unrepentant old cobol programmer (though I haven't written a line of cobol in several years) I take umbrage at that. (Yes, being an unrepentant cobol programmer means I'm also a curmudgeon). Cobol is far more capable than simply looping through "read a record, write a record. It deals with far more than just flat files. It can quite easily access any dbms that supplies a pre-compiler - like, oh, say, Oracle's Pro*Cobol. Micro Focus (I believe they are now called Merant) produced a full line of cobol products for the PC. And all of it, the basic compiler, the integrated development environment (editor, source-code level debugger, gui,) emulation of mainframe CICS, IMS, and DB2 were all themselves written *in cobol*.
There was never a technical reason for moving away from cobol. It was simply fueled by a generation of developers who though computing began with the Apple II and set out to have to discover (and then re-invent solutions for) problems that cobol programmers and the mainframe had solved years earlier. And PHB's who practiced "Management by Magazine Article" and got their technical advice from American Airlines Magazine.
I've always maintained that people who hate cobol never really knew cobol.
Oracle deals with relational indexed tables using SQL.
Take your business requirements for what the report should be generating and write the report from scratch in Oracle. That way you'll make the most of Oracles technology. -
On a Windows XP system using the "Text Report Example" vi, the (read) report property node item "TextFont" (stdole.Font) at the beginning of the "Font Style" vi which is a part of the "Set Report Font" vi is returning this error:
"-1073741819 Unknown System Error in Font Style.vi->Set Report Font.vi->Easy Text Report.vi"
Any suggestions as to a cause and cure? This Knowledge Base from NI's website actually deals with this problem. The fix depends upon whether or not you have the Report Generation Toolkit for LabVIEW. There are fixes for whether or not you have the Toolkit. Hope this helps.

Report generation toolkit problem with office 2000 and office XP
Hello, I am having a problem with running my vi after it is compiled with application builder. The dev machine is an XP box and the targer is windows 2000. I included _Excel Dynamic VIs.vi and _Word Dynamic VIs.vi from the office 2000 section of the install cd (for the report toolkit) in the compile but did not include those files for XP. When I run the application on the target machine (2000), the reporting functions call Excel just fine and the program does not come up with any errors. The program however, is not loading the approprate template and inserting the approprate data. Did I leave some neccessary files out of the compile? Thanks in advance!

Gregory Osenbach, CLA
FlukeHi Acer,
The recommended procedure in your case is to install Microsoft Office 2000 on the development machine and then reinstall the LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit. When the toolkit is installed, it will check for the current version of Office and install the corresponding VIs to support it. The VIs include different ActiveX calls according to the version of Office. Therefore it is not enough to change the support manually without having the correct version of Office installed first.
However, I would recommend that you just try to run your executable on a machine that has Office 2000 installed. The difference in the ActiveX API for Office XP and 2000 is not that significant, so your application might work perfectly on an Office 2000 machine. If you try to run the executable on a machine with Office 97 installed I'm willing to bet my right arm that you will experience errors.
Good luck Acer!

Oracle Report Server wierd problem
Hi All,
I am facing very wierd problem with oracle report server.
I am using Oracle Report Server 10g R1. The problem I am facing is as under:
There is custom parameter form where user enters report filter criteria and press a button to create the report.
The problem is that report is giving output some times and sometimes it gives no output at all. Both the times, the parameters passed by user are same. The report executions are done for both runs one after other. We have tried to look in report server trace file but could not find anything. When report server fails to give any data in the report, at the same time, we have tried to execute the report query on SQL prompt and it did return data.
Can any one give any hint where the problem could be ?
Thanks,

Hi All,
I created raport in RDF and also created RTF file. Concurent request format is XML.
Few weeks ago there was not any problem with this raport, but now it ends with WORNING (yellow collor).
The error is: XMLParseException: Expected name instead of <.
What could be changed.
I have read lots of posts and haven't found any simmilar problem.
The output file begins with:
<?xml version="1.0"?>

/CIDSystemInfo
<< /Registry (BINMCH+TT1+0) /Ordering (T42UV) /Supplement 0 >>
def
/CMapName /BINMCH+TT1+0 def
/CMapType 2 def
and the error message tells that the error is line 7 column 2.
Any idea??
Problem is urgent.
Thanks for any solution.OPP:

Report generation toolkit problem (WORD)
Hello,
i'm trying to display a spectrum with Word (2000). The spectrum is updated
when datas are updated.
It works when i use Vi but if i make an exe file, nothing happens (word
doesn't open)
What's the matter ?
Thanks in advanceTry this workaround until you figure out the problem:
Instead of building your application into an executable, create a simple "loader" application. This is just a VI (with optional professional looking splash screen) that uses VI server to call and run your main VI. If you build this instead, your VIs remain as VIs, and any problems seen such as this are bypassed (hopefully).
I had to use this method when a bug was discovered in VISA (that I don't ever recall being solved, now that I think about it.) that caused it to not work properly in built applications.
I am probably going to author an Application Note or Article in Developer Insights, or LTR about this little trick, as I seem to be suggesting it a lot.
I'm sorry I can't help you with your p
roblem directly, but I hope this workaround helps.
Oh, a side benefit is that you are able to maintain a directory structure. And if you 'release' your software, and have to maintain an archive of the source and released, this makes it much easier, as your executable as only a single file, and all of your source remains intact. It also makes it easier to change your application without having to rebuild. The only drawback is that you have an entire VI Hierarchy as a deployed directory structure. This can be confusing to some people. To me, it was an elegant and optimized solution to many problems. It is a method that I always use now. -
Oracle reports 6i to Oracle forms 10g migration
Hi,
I have .rdf files which were created on Oracle Reports 6i. I would like to migrate the .rdf files into Oracle Reports module which is present as a part of Oracle Forms 10g to generate PDF output.
Please let me know the detailed steps to be followed as I am a total newbie. Also I need to generate these reports on demand from a java 5 application (JSF 2.0).
Currently for ORacle reports 6i, I have the following code in my java application
rwrun60.exe g:\tomcat33\webapps\reports\web-inf\src\null userid=***/*** destype=FILE desformat="pdf" paramform=NO printjob=NO batch=YES desname=temp.pdf
1. What would be the equivalent for reports in ORacle Forms 10g ? I know there is an Oracle Apps server where ther report services reside. How to I invoke my report from my java application (residing on a weblogic server 10.3.6)?
2. What ould I do with the 6i .rdf files to upgrade them to 10g ?I am trying to call an Oracle report i.e .rdf (which is located on the Oracle App Server) from my java EE 5 (JSF) application. The Oracle App server is Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2. I assume Oracle report generation capability is available in this release. I need to invoke the report from my Java JSF application on demand (whenever the user clicks a button on the web browser page, the report should appear on the browser as PDF) . My java application resides on Linux weblogic server.
Please let me know how it can be done ? I see rwclient.sh and another method to directly invoke using a URL. How do I do it on java, would a request.redirect() to the URL work ?
Also for hiding the params in the URL. keys need to be configured on the Oracle server right ?
Also if we use rwclient.sh or the URL based invocation, would there be any issue in concurrency when multiple users request the same report at the same time ? -
Oracle reports builder and Win7 aero theme
Hi,
I did sucessfully instaled Oracle reports builder 10gR2 (e.g. Oracle Developer Suite 10gR2 and patch 10.1.2.3) on Win7 x64 Enterprize. There was a few workarounds, but it is now ok.
Everything works just fine now, but that blink and baloon message that came on change of color sheme to Windows classic is annoying! Every time I run the Report Builder, windows is forced to change the Aero scheme ti Classic. OK, I figgured out, that if I do not use Aero, this is not an issue anymore. For me it's ok, but other developers in our company will not be glad :)
The same problem persist at Oracle SQL developer, but there is a solution for it with little change in "sqldeveloper.conf" file "AddVMOption -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true" .
Is there any similar setting for Report builder too?
I would be werry appreciated.
Thanks.Hello,
Have you used 64-bit binaries?
Here are the steps that you need to make sure you have accomplished themL
1- JDK 64 bits to be used
2- wls1036_generic.jar (java -jar wls1036_generic.jar) or wls1035_generic.jar . It is mandatory to use java from a 64 bits distribution. Using java 32 bits will cause problems.
3- ofm_frmrpts_win_11.1.2.0.0_64_disk1_1of1.zip
An workaround is offered in the following thread:

Values returned from oracle reports
hello,
i want to write a program which comunicates with
oracle report builder. passing arguments to oracle
reports is no problem but is it possible to get
return values from oracle reports so that i can
proceed with them in my java application.
thank you
thorsten lorenzHi Stewart,
thank you for your answer. I think i'll try this
approach. I will start the runtime-Version of Oracle Reports
from java with parameters. exec(param 1,param 2). The only
thing returned is an integer indicating if this call
to reports was successfull. but with your idea i think
i got a nice workaround.
