Oracle report use 90% of CUP

We continue see this oracle report errors recorded in NT event log.
"The script started from the URL'/r30cgi32.exe' has not responsed within the configured timeout period. The HTTP server is terminating the script."
When those error occurred, the CPU utilization went up to over 90%. The data for the generating the report is getting from the SQL server 7.0.
Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

Go to Reports Home page. There's tons of usefull information there.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/index.html
What could be interesting could be to check the "Oracle by Example". A link if found on that page! As first step try the "Creating a Report Using the Report Wizard". On the page there's also a link to "Getting Started with Oracle Reports" (check this first).
For developement you should install Developer Suite 10g (9.0.4), and for deployment you'll need Application Server 10g (9.0.4). On the page above, a link is provided top left ("Downloads").

  • Capturing Oracle Reports using Designer

    How do we capture Oracle reports using Designer?
    We are planning to do dependency analysis and there are lots of Oracle reports and procedures / packages. We want to capture all the Oracle reports and database objects / procedures on which we can do dependency analysis / impact analysis due to any database object changes.

    You can read "Capturing applications into the repository" topic in the on/line help.

How to do it via JDeveloper?

  • Creating reports using oracle application server

    Hello All,
    I am a complete newbie with Oracle Application Server(OAS) and Oracle reports. My task is to generate HTML and PDF reports using OAS. The current application has a aspx pages(ASP.NET as front end) which calls a third party tool Fast Radar Report which fetches data as per the user need(like month, day, year, product name....) and displays it in a grid format. I have to remove the FastRadar part and use OAS's OracleAS Reports Services components to generate those reports
    I went through chapter 12 of Oracle.Application.Server.10g.Essentials by OReilly 2004 edition
    It briefly glances through that part. But, it seems to mention about Oracle Reports something like "Oracle Reports has a wizard-based frontend called Oracle Reports Developer that can build reports. Oracle Reports Developer is part of the Oracle Developer Suite. The reports created with Oracle Reports Developer can be deployed to the Web using OracleAS Reports Services support in Oracle Application Server."
    I am unclear what to do. Do I need to create the report format in Oracle Reports using wizard-based frontend called Oracle Reports Developer and then deploy it using OracleAS Reports Services?
    Or, is there a way to create the report format using OracleAS Reports Services without using Oracle Reports. I am told we have just OAS installed, don't know if Oracle reports is installed or not as it is done on a remote site.
    Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
    One has to develop reports using Oracle Reports developer and then has to deploy it into the application server. To do so you need the Oracle developer suite installed, this has wizards which can be used to develop reports.

    Read the publishing reports manual of Oracle reports to see how to Web enabled your Oracle reports. You can then invoke them from an ADF application either by calling a URL or using a Web service interface.

  • Oracle reports

    Hi
    I have a proc program that calls oracle reports using ar25run command. Is there any way to pass parameters using a file just like the parfile in exp/imp commands.
    We are directly calling ar25run followed by the parameters. For eg,
    ar25run batch=yes userid=apps/apps report=$OAOM_TOP/srw/OAOM071R destype=FILE desname=internat_orderack.txt desformat=$OAOM_TOP/srw/ack p_report_session_id=50195
    Is there any way to use a parameter file that can store parameters and call ar25run with that file.
    thanks

    Hi Pavan,
    Thanks for reply.
    I have resolved this issue. This issue happen because of report server not able to handle large data. To resolve this issue I have made report server traces service off. Because of making traces off the report server fully utilized for report generation.
    Thanks,

  • Oracle Reports Parameter List form called through URL bring blank page

    We are using 10g Release 2
    We are able to load balance all other reports out there.
    1. Using run_report_objects in oracle forms
    2. Using a URL to call a report directly with parameters.
    However we are unable to use the URL function if there there is a hard ware load balancer in front. For the following scenario
    1. Using a URL to call an oracle report using its own internal parameters form. This is with the parameter "paraform=yes"

  • Why reports uses the .eps format when emailing a report?

    Hi
    If you select to send a report by email, it automatically
    chooses the .eps format to send the report as an attachment.
    I know it stands for "encapsulated post script" (I think...),
    but is there a way to send in PDF format for example?
    Till now, the user has to generate the report in PDF format
    and then, manually, create an email and attach such file.
    And what program opens such type of file (eps)?
    Thanks
    Luis Cabral

    The .eps format is a postscript format type used to send directly to the printer. I really don't know why this format is good but ...
    A way to send an e-mail attachment in HTML, PDF or RTF format, is setting the parameters DESTYPE and DESFORMAT, but this way enforces you to create another way to trigger the e-mail cause the button e-mail in Oracle Reports uses .eps by default.
    I suggest you to create a parameter form with the format option and trigger the reports by RUN_PRODUCT built-in. If you don't need to preview the report, set the properties in the parameter form and trigger the report normally.
    DESTYPE=MAIL
    DESFORMAT=PDF or DESFORMAT=HTML or DESFORMAT=RTF

  • Report error rep-1070 with oracle reports

    Hi,
    I encountered a problem. I got rep-1070 error when I tried to open a oracle report using developer 2000 (2.5). Please let me know if you could help. thanks so much

    Hi Diana,
    This error means Reports can't understand the file. One way this happens is if you transfer the file from one platform to another (e.g., UNIX to Windows) using FTP without putting it in binary mode. Another way you might get this error is opening a v1.1 report in 2.5 that wasn't migrated properly.

  • Calling Oracle Report through AQ

    Does anybody know how to invoke an Oracle Report using Advanced Queuing?

    I believe you can invoke PL/SQL in Oracle Reports. If so, invoke AQ PL/SQL procedures from Oracle reports.

  • Can we use Dynamic SQL in Oracle Reports ?

    Hi ,
    Can we use Dynamic SQL in Oracle Reports ?
    If yes please give some examples .
    Thanx
    srini

    I believe the built-in package SRW.Do_Sql is what you are looking for
    Example from the document:
    /* Suppose you want to create a "table of contents" by getting the
    ** first character of a columns value, and page number on which its
    ** field fires to print. Assume that you want to put the "table of
    contents"
    ** into a table named SHIP. You could write the following construct:
    DECLARE
    PAGE_NO NUMBER;
    PAGE_FOR INDEX NUMBER;
    SORT_CHAR CHAR(1);
    CMD_LINE CHAR(200);
    BEGIN
    SORT_CHAR := :SORT_NAME ;
    IF :CALLED = Y THEN
         SRW.GET_PAGE_NUM(PAGE_FOR_INDEX);
         SRW.USER_EXIT(RWECOP PAGE_FOR_INDEX
         P_START_PAGENO);
         SRW.MESSAGE(2,TO_CHAR(:P_START_PAGENO));
    END IF;
    SRW.GET_PAGE_NUM(PAGE_NO);
    CMD_LINE := INSERT INTO SHIP VALUES
                          (||SORT_CHAR||,||TO_CHAR(PAGE_NO)||);
    SRW.MESSAGE(2,CMD_LINE);
    SRW.DO_SQL(CMD_LINE);
    COMMIT;
    EXCEPTION
      WHEN DUP_VAL_ON_INDEX THEN
            NULL;
      WHEN SRW.DO_SQL_FAILURE THEN
            SRW.MESSAGE(1,FAILED TO INSERT ROW INTO SHIP TABLE);
      WHEN OTHERS THEN
           COMMIT;
    END;
