Oracle report writer installation

We have installed Oracle 10g in our server. How we can install Oracle Report into our server. I do not know whether we have Oracle Report installed already along with 10g. If we do, how we can find out through unix? How we can bring it up through Unix. Please help

I'd suggest posing this question on the Reports forum here on OTN. I don't believe there's anything ODBC-related at work here.

Problem in oracle report writer installation

I was trying to install oracle report writer in sun box. after I set the term variable. when I run the orainst file its giving the following error
orainst: cannot determine current directory
tk2c*.res: No such file or directory
Supported Terminals are :
TERM=vt-52 ORACLE_TERM=vt-52
Can't find resource file
/./tk2{TERM}.res or
/./tk2{ORACLE_TERM}.res
Please set your TERM variable to one of the supported terminals.
Exiting orainst procedure.

This needs to be in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH (or equivalent depending upon what Unix system you are on). If this file is not part of your installation, then you need to reinstall the product as your installation directory is incomplete.

Difference between oracle reports and oracle report writer

I would like to know the diffrence between oracle reports and oracle report writer.I would appreciate if i get more details of oracle report writer.

Oracle Reports with Oracle Financials (FMIS)

Hi folks,
I'm in a bit of a bind at the moment. I really really need a little help getting an understanding of Oracle Report Writer. The situation is as follows:
I'm currently working on a system that moves data from an SQL Server 7.0 Database into some Oracle Financials (FMIS) Interface Tables. The Interface tables are apparently used to post Customer and Invoicing information into the real Oracle Financials tables, for Invoicing and General Ledger purposes.
Its come to my understanding that Oracle ReportWriter is no longer available on the market today? Is this true? The reason why I ask is, my client is tossing with the idea of using Oracle ReportWriter over Crystal Reports.
The only thing that I have heard is that Oracle Report Writer is a much more powerful tool than Crystal Reports. So I guess the main question would be, is Report Writer a more powerful and easy to use application over other report writing tools?
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

I believe it is all in the name. Oracle ReportWriter is long gone; however it has evolved to Oracle Reports which is going strong. The current version is Oracle Reports 6i and has been out for more than a year. It was preceeded by Oracle Reports 6.0, 3.0, 2.5, 2.0 and finally ReportWriter1.1,.... The Early versions were packaged in various bundles with our other tools.
Oracle Reports is a very powerful reporting tools and stacks up very well against Crystal. One big advantage is that we work extremely well against an Oracle Database (no external drivers to go through). We also run on a greater variety of machines including Unix. We provide XML output and integration with our other BI tools, Discoverer and Express as well as Oracle Portal. Reports can be deployed over the web using standard CGI/Servlet technology. Oracle reports builder and Win7 aero theme

Hi,
I did sucessfully instaled Oracle reports builder 10gR2 (e.g. Oracle Developer Suite 10gR2 and patch 10.1.2.3) on Win7 x64 Enterprize. There was a few workarounds, but it is now ok.
Everything works just fine now, but that blink and baloon message that came on change of color sheme to Windows classic is annoying! Every time I run the Report Builder, windows is forced to change the Aero scheme ti Classic. OK, I figgured out, that if I do not use Aero, this is not an issue anymore. For me it's ok, but other developers in our company will not be glad :)
The same problem persist at Oracle SQL developer, but there is a solution for it with little change in "sqldeveloper.conf" file "AddVMOption -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true" .
Is there any similar setting for Report builder too?
I would be werry appreciated.

Have you used 64-bit binaries?
Here are the steps that you need to make sure you have accomplished themL
1- JDK 64 bits to be used
2- wls1036_generic.jar (java -jar wls1036_generic.jar) or wls1035_generic.jar . It is mandatory to use java from a 64 bits distribution. Using java 32 bits will cause problems.
3- ofm_frmrpts_win_11.1.2.0.0_64_disk1_1of1.zip

2) Is it posible to generate Adhoc reports through Oracle Reports Writer?

1)Yes, JDBCPDS feature in Reports 9i support access to Sybase Database. It allows to access different
data sources through JDBC-Drivers. JDBC Driver type "sybase-merant" can be used to access to Sybase Database.
Both SQL Query or Stored Procedure can be used to data source to create JDBC Query.
Please refer to the Online help of the reports Builder for JDBC query. You can also get more details from
"Builing reports" manual at http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/reports/content.html
3) Assuming you are refering to executing stored procedures in sybase database, JDBC query (JDBCPDS) can
be created against Stored Procedure on sybase database which return set of rows.

We have a web application developed in JSP, I'd like to use Oracle Reports writer to generate reports (Since our back office application is developed using Oracle forms and Reports - 6i).

You can achieve "PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate" by passing "Introduction to Oracle9i SQL 1Z0-007" OR "Introduction to Oracle: SQL and PL/SQL 1Z0-001" OR "Oracle Database SQL Expert 1Z0-047".
For "Oracle Forms Developer Certified Professional", you need to pass "Oracle Forms: Build Internet Applications 1Z0-141" after getting the "PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate" certificate.

Is it possible to query software inventory report for Oracle SQL developer installation?

Hi all
My company requires to generate a report of all kinds of Oracle database access tool. I can find Toad installation from Add/Remove Program and therefore can query for Toad.
However, Oracle SQL developer is using Java. I cannot see an entry for Oracle SQL developer from Add/Remove Program. Is there a way to query inventory for Oracle SQL developer installation?

You might be able to use software inventory to report on the version of sqldeveloper.exe.
As the app looks like just a zip you extract to a custom location that might be one method.
