Oracle responsibility - User Management

Dear All,
Oracle responsibility does not show "menu" to end user while responsibility it self has following parameters
Menu: User Management : Top Level Menu
Data Group Name :Standard
Data Group Application : Application Object Library
Regards,
Abdul Hafeez

Pl post details of OS, database and EBS versions. Are you referring to the "User Management" responsibility ? This is a self-service responsibility - what does "does not show menu" mean ?

  • Importing Oracle DBUM User Management 9.1.0.0 Fails

I am trying to import the Oracle DBUM User Management 9.1.0.0 connector but am receiving the following error, "Unknown tag OBJ_OFFLINED recieved." Any ideas on what may be causing this?
    Thanks,
    Pete

You saw the response. I have written over there but if you don't get pass through then you might need to correct version conflict.
By the way I tried it many times and this works fine, just by removing these 2 occurrences of OBJ_OFFLINED and PRF_CASE_INSENSITIVE. Are you sure you did this clean and doesn't mixed up anything else. Also MST stores the Task to Object Status mapping, why is that showing an error ?
    Thanks

  • OIM - EBusiness User Management Connector

    Hello there,
Can anybody please tell me within the Ebusiness connector i.e. provided in 9.1 version connector pack, which one needs to be installed? there are 3 different categories within the same -
1.) For the User Management connector:
    Oracle EBS User Management 9.1.0.0
2.) For the User Management with HR Foundation connector:
Oracle EBS HR Foundation User Management 9.1.0.0
3.) For the User Management with TCA Foundation connector:
Oracle EBS TCA Foundation User Management 9.1.0.
I don't know which one resembles to which operations that OIM can perform. Can anybody please throw some light and explain which connector does what?
    thanks,
    - oidm.

An FND_USER record represents an Oracle E-Business Suite account. This record is the main component of the account data whose management is enabled by the connector. *(Oracle EBS User Management 9.1.0.0)*
Depending on your configuration of the target system, there may be other user data components that must be managed by the connector:
Some applications in Oracle E-Business Suite require a user to have a person record in Oracle E-Business HRMS. *(Oracle EBS HR Foundation User Management 9.1.0.0)*
These users are either full-time employees of the organization or users (such as contract or part-time employees) who have been provided with access that is similar to the access provided to full-time employees. iExpense is an example of an application that requires users to have person (HRMS) records.
Some applications in the Oracle E-Business Suite require a user to have a record in Oracle E-Business TCA. *(Oracle EBS TCA Foundation User Management 9.1.0.)*
Typically, these users are representatives or employees of customers and vendors of your organization. iStore and iProcurement are examples of applications that require users to have TCA records.

Well the list above shows that you have configured a pre-authorized access for the oracle user, and this is where the password check is failing. If you don't have any Windows in your OSB domain then you should remove this entry so it just shows as [none]

    PROBLEM
R12: "User Management" Responsibility 를 User 에게 Assign 후 click 하면 아래와 같은 error 가 발생합니다.
    ERROR
There are no functions available for this responsibility
    SOLUTION
User Management Responsibility 의 경우 'Security Administrator' 와 'Customer Administrator' Role privilege 가 해당 user에게 assign되어 있을 때에만 사용 가능 하다.
    아래와 같이 assign 한다.
    1. SYSADMIN User 로 applications 에 접속 한다.
    2. User Management responsibility 를 선택한다.
    3. Users web page 를 click 한다.
    4. 해당 user 를 find 한다.
    5. Update Icon 을 click 한다.
    6. Assign Roles button을 click 한다.
    7. 'Security Administrator' Role 를 Assign 한다.
    8. Apply 후 Customer Administrator Role 도 동일한 방법으로 assign 한다.
    9. 해당 user 로 다시 applications 에 접속 후 test 해 본다.
    REFERENCE
Note. 734280.1 - UMX Error: 'There are no functions available for this responsibility' And/Or 'There are no valid navigations for this responsibility' when Accessing 'User Management' Responsibility.

    Rick,
You do not mention which account you are using to do this - I suspect you are using your own account. What you will notice is that if you login as the SYSADMIN account and use the User Management responsibility, you will be able to succeed :-) In a real world situation, the SYSADMIN account (being a generic one) is typically locked down, so using the SYSADMIN account is not feasible. What you will need to do is to login as the SYSADMIN account (this one time only) and using the User Management responsibility, grant the "Security Administrator" role to your apps account (assuming it is the one you are using). Then logout and login as yourself and you will see that you will be able to do what you need to do. Unfortunately, this step is not documented very well anywhere AFAIK. Pl let us know if this works for you.

Reengineering Desktop Thick Workgroups into Web
    Rich Enterprise Clients
Bryan Hall, Spatial Architect, L-3 Communications
Jeff Walawender, Senior Software Engineer, L-3 Communications
Cost cutting requires reengineering spatial solutions to directly address business requirements. But enterprise computing for spatial data has, with even "Web 2.0", required the user to lose the responsiveness and feedback that traditional desktop thick client GIS software has provided. We took a different approach in the re-engineering effort and concentrated on making it work as much like a traditional desktop thick client - while simplifying use, making editing more reliable, and actually speeding up rendering. All this, while only supporting one versioned Oracle Spatial database, and application tier for all users.

  • How to authenticate oracle application user from third party application -

    Hi All!
I am using OC4J as a J2EE container with an Oracle Applications setup (11.5.10, LINUX version). This is for an application which gets called from Oracle Applications. We need the user, responsibility and session information of Oracle applications to be passed on to our application which is running on a different port in OC4J. We are unable to get the information when we call our application from a menu option in Oracle Applications.
Various papers have been mentioning mod_oc4j.so module, which we are unable to find in our Oracle Applications setup.
    Any help as to
    (1) where we can download and install mod_oc4j.so from and
    (2) passing the above mentioned information to our application running on the OC4J port will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Narasimha Rao M L V

    Hi,
thanks for your reply, but i don't wanna see that user in my list then what should i do??? This is not possible, you cannot delete the user from the application.
if i set end for that user in that form then anyway the user will be there and visible....am i right??? please correct me if i am wrong...Correct.
is it so that when the end date is passed, the user will be deleted from list which is shown in user management form??No, you will still see the user in the form/table.

  • Adding Oracle Application users to business area

Can someone tell me how can I add ALL Oracle Application Users to a Business Area in Oracle APPS R12
I am using an Application Mode EUL

There's lots of good info on this forum about this topic but in a nutshell ...
You could identify the user from within Discoverer and then filter on that but by far the easiest method is to use what Oracle BIS views use, NoetixViews views use, etc. and that's to put the code in a database view that filter the row information back depending on the responsibility running it.
The hardest thing to understand is that you code the SQL in the database view and then if you tried to look at the results with a tool like TOAD, you'll get no data. People think that it's not working because no data came back but really it's good as it's working, because if you then used that same view in Discoverer with the correct responsibility, you'd see the data.
So, exactly what you want is what happens in that the same report is run by 2 different responsibilities (Houston HR manager or New York HR manager) but the data returned will be only what they're allowed to see as defined by Oracle Apps.
Search on this forum for more - or to get a heads up, look at some of the Oracle BIS HR or GL views to see what I mean. If you haven't generated the BIS views then you can see 'ungenerated ones' as well in the Apps schema, views, and they'll follow a naming convention starting with: glfv_blah. You'll see glfv ..., glfb ..., glfg ....
The good ones are glfg ... as they've been generated but again, if you look at a glfv or hrfv look at the SQL at near the end see how they're determining the user, his org, etc.
Ths should keep you happily busy over Xmas!

  • Differences between OA 11i and R12 on User Management

    Hi All,
Please give some details about differences between OA 11i and R12 on User Management (Role Responsibilities and Role Based Access Control, etc).
Please advise me on this regard.
Moreover,I don't have any Metalink username and Password.
    Thanks

New features introduced for User Management (UMX) in R12
The following are the new features introduced in R12 for User Management (UMX):
    1)Proxy User:
    This new functionality:
    · Provides the delegator the ability to grant/revoke the proxy privilege to individuals
    · Provide a mechanism throughout the application’s framework where the user can access the proxy switcher feature
    · Provide a mechanism throughout the application’s framework which indicates to the user that they are acting as a proxy
    · Provide the ability to track the delegate’s actions within the system, while the delegate is acting on behalf of the delegator (Audit)
    Benefits of Proxy User:
Ability to delegate proxy authority provides great security controls and Granular control of proxy authority is provided i.e delegate authority can be specified for date ranges
    2) ICM (Separation of Duties – SoD) Integration
Oracle User Management is integrated with Oracle Internal Controls Manager (ICM) for the prevention, detection, enforcement, and resolution of separation-of-duties constraints during the assignment of roles by administrators to users.
For example, a constraint (created using a set of ICM UIs) can be defined such that no user is allowed to have "Role A" and "Role B" at the same time. In such a case, anadministrator attempting to assign Role B to a user who already has Role A will be presented with a dialog page displaying the constraint violation information.
At this point, the administrator can take one of two actions:
    • Go back to the role assignment page and remove the assignment that is causing the
    violation.
    • Override the constraint violation, if he has the "AMW: Allow SOD Violation
    Override" permission granted to him.
With this permission, the administrator will see Apply and Cancel buttons on the constraint violation dialog page. Clicking Apply will override the constraint, and assign Role B to the user despite the warning. Clicking Cancel will cancel the save operation without granting Role B to the user.
UMX integration with ICM is enabled according to the setting of site-level profile option "UMX: Enable ICM Validation". The default value is "Yes".
    3) Enhanced Forget Username/Password Functionality
Forgot Username Functionality is Introduced in R12 along with Forgot Password. So now Users can query on either lost “username” or lost “password” Users should enter email address if lost username and enter username if lost password
Users can now aslo reset username as part of email address verification instead of a two step process.
4)New Registration Process Type for Administrator Role Assignment
New Registration Process Type is introduced for type “Administrator Assisted Additional Access”
Different policies (registration processes) can be used as administrative actions vs. self service requests for
    · Approval Routing
    · UI
    · Notifications
    · Business Logic
Simpler registration processes can be created for self-service and administrator flavors
Support for alternative approvals for administrator role assignment is also introduced.
    5) Security Wizard Infrastructure
    a)Security Wizard Infrastructure
    · Infrastructure for product teams to create their own security wizards in context of a role.
    · Product teams can create their wizards and seed relevant information
    · These wizards appear in list of security wizards available to the administrator when creating/updating role information
b)New User Interface for Delegated Administration
    · Existing functionality(11.5.10) of delegated administration setup implemented using wizard infrastructure
    · Wizard guides the user through what options they can set for a delegated administration
    6) Search Enhancement for List of Value’s (LOV)
Search Enhancements has been made in LOV’s in User management.
    a) All LOVs in User Management (UMX) are now searchable by
    · Role
    · Responsibility
    · Both
    · Internal Code
b)A type included in the results – to differentiate roles and responsibilities

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: No ClassLoaders found for: com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver
even though I've ensured jconn2.jar is in the ThirdParty directory, reflushed the cache, and restarted OIM; the connector still can't seem to load the driver.
I've tried the database testing script with similar results.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers
    Simon
PS: I believe v5.5 of JConnect (as required by the OIM Connector) has been EOL'd and Sybase. They recommend you use v6.0 (v6 is jconn3.jar)), which from what I can see should work as com.sybase.jdbc3.jdbc.SybDriver; I tried that as well but had the same ClassNotFoundException.

I've fixed it; needed to copy jconn2.jar into the $JBOSS_HOME/lib directory and restart the server.

  • Confirming method to secure web services through oracle web service manager

    Hi All,
I am just wondering about the method to secure web service through oracle web service manager.
I have a unsecure web service "helloworld" which is deployed on JWSDP1.6 toolkit.I want to secure it through oracle web service manager.
Inorder to secure this unsecure web service,I use gateway(web service manager for securing web service using message level security through certificate).
So when client want to access the helloworld service,it contacts the gateway securely and gateway intern connect to original web service after decrypting and verification of the signature. When gateway gets response from the web service,it signs the response message and then encrypt and passs on to the client.
So my question is,is it the right way to secure web service?
As I am getting the following fault exception :
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <SOAP-ENV:Body>
    <SOAP-ENV:Fault>
    <faultcode "http://schemas.oblix.com/ws/2003/08/Faults">c</faultcode>

    </faultstring>
    <detail></detail>
    </SOAP-ENV:Fault>
    </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
I checked the log at :
    C:\coresv_install_home\external\oc4j-10.1.2.0.0\j2ee\home\log\http-web-access
but there is no helpful information available. Thanks for any help.

Please let me know, if any one has faced this kind of error earlier.
    Regards
    Vicky

    Figured out the error,
When I have installed Ebiz HRMS Employee recon connector, it has imported all the files with root privileges. (Dont know why importing was done with root privileges).
Becuase of EBSCommon.jar and Common.jar having root as the owner, EBIZ UM connector is unable to replace those files. After modifying the owner and group of these two files to oracle.
I am able to succesfully install the UM connector.
    Regards
    Vicky

    Hi everyone!
I'm writing to yours because I installed Oracle BPEL Process Manager 10.1.3.1.0 but I can't start BPEL Console. I tried to start it by the option menu of Windows XP and by Developer Prompt, but I get a HTTP 404 Not Found page. When I was installing the universall installer told me that it wasn't possible to set ORACLE_HOME variable because it had a value older than 1023 characteres. So, I continue the installation but I can't start the BPEL Console. The Dos Console teld me sometimes when I put http://localhost:9700/BPELConsole..timed out. So, tell me how to resolve that problem.
    I'll be waiting your responses.

    Thanks for your responses.
    Greetings.

    Hi,
    you said:
it wasn't possible to set ORACLE_HOME variable because it had a value older than 1023 characteres
What do you mean with older than 1023 chars?
I think the easiest way is to uninstall the BPEL Console and run the installer again with correcting the ORACLE_HOME problem...
