Oracle Retail Products Installation and Implementation

Can individual modules like Oracle Retail Allocation be used as standalone Products, without installing Oracle RMS?
The following point is mentioned in the Oracle® Retail Merchandising Implementation Guide Release 13.2.4 E28940-01
"RMS owns virtually all of the information that Oracle Retail Allocation needs to operate and the information that Oracle Retail Allocation provides is of primary interest/use for RMS. As a result Oracle Retail Allocation has limited interaction with other Oracle Retail Merchandising Operations Management applications. For Oracle Retail Merchandising
Operations Management applications that Oracle Retail Allocation does interact with it is managed through direct reads from Oracle Retail Merchandising Operations Management application tables, direct calls to Oracle Retail Merchandising Operations Management packages, and Oracle Retail Allocation packages based on Oracle Retail Merchandising Operations Management application tables."
So, for implementing Oracle Retail Allocation, is Oracle RMS mandatory?

My understanding is yes.
The text you provided indicates that Allocations does not directly communicate with other modules, such as SIM, but instead does so via RMS. When you install RMS without Alloc, you actually get a lot of the database tables & DB package code for Alloc. This gives some indication as to the level of dependency that Alloc has on having RMS installed.

  • Upgrade 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6 which Oracle BI Product Installer?

I have read posts that exactly deal with this question
    Upgrade 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6
but they point to Patch 13742915: Patch 11.1.1.6.1 Oracle Business Intelligence
as the installer I will need for the OBIEE patching from 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6
When I read the read me however, it states quite clearly
Customers who are currently using a version earlier than Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 11.1.1.6.0 should not apply this patch.
So where can I find the correct intaller for 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6?
Or do we simply go to Oracle downloads and grab all of the disks then state "software only" ??
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    1. Upgrade JDK to 1.7

Both (weblogic 10.3.5/6)versions are working fine in obiee11.1.1.6.0 ..its upto you.
    3. Execute OBIEE install 11.1.1.6 and perform a software only install
for the software only installtion its same as obiee11.1.1.6.0 (please make sure: weblogic install via cmd prompt
E.x: just go to java path pin
    C:\java\jrockit-jdk1.6.0_29-R28.2.2-4.1.0\bin>java -D64 -jar D:\OBIEE111160\wls1

  • Oracle SQL Developer installation and Java

I finished installing Oracle Client without problems. Opened up SQL Developer for the first time and he asks me for the full Java.exe pathname.
That's fine, but when I input the java.exe I just get asked again, no errors. Repeat until infinity.
I installed the newest Java SDK and tried both 32-bit and 64-bit versions (jdk 7u4). I even tried installing Oracle Client version 11.1.0 AND 11.2.0 to see if that make any difference, but it's all the same.
I have uploaded a screenshot if that helps: http://i50.tinypic.com/mjtqte.jpg
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Gunnar Óskarsson

    Hi Gunnar.
    Documentation:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25259_01/doc.31/e26419/install.htm#sthref8
    Ideas:
    -Do not use java7
    -Use JDK not JRE
-On widows there is a version of SQLDeveloper including java 6 jdk
-Instant client is not required - but if you want to use it use at least 11.2.0.2
-Updated SetJavaHome in sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf to point to the JDK
-There is some confusion over 32bit and 64bit Operating System, java and SQLDeveloper, you can search the forum for details, eg: thread title: "Unable to start Oracle SQL Developer"

  • Problem with oracle webcenter 11g installation and configuration

I have installed weblogic and webcenter successfully. After that I have configured the webcenter by creating new domain using configuration wizard . Three managed servers created for spaces, services and portlets and able to bring up. The problem is webcenter and other service related applications are in failed state. In server stage no ear or war files related to these applications. So unable to access webcenter spaces. Only weblogic console and webcenter enterprise manager can be accessed. No clue from installation document.
Is anything to do to make it to active state?
    Edited by: user10303069 on Oct 7, 2009 12:18 AM

Problem solved. Simply two more steps required. First, In the nodemanager.properties Edit as StartScriptEnabled=true and start the node manager and then Admin server. Second step is start the WLS_Spaces managed server from webcenter Enterprise Manager. Now spaces is accessible.

  • Oracle Retail RFI - Suppliers and GL Business Unit

    Hi,
The user guide for Retail Financials Integration, version 14.0.1, page 22 regarding suppliers says:
'Suppliers must be assigned to at least one GL business unit (set of books)'
    - Can somebody what does this mean from an EBS perspective? Does this mean that the Libility, Prepayment GL combinations need to be populated in the Accounting Options for the Supplier in EBS?
    Thanks,

This is standard functionality, as the printed copy is circulated to the suppliers.

  • Oracle Retail Merchandise Financial Planning and RPAS

Hi, i'm new with Oracle Retail and ORACLE RPAS. I would like ton know the best way to backup RPAS or if RPAS support Real Application Cluster or something like that.
We will install Oracle Retail Merchandise Financial Planning component and i would like the best architecture to do it.
    Regards

    Question:
What makes up the added value in OR MerchandiseAnalytics over ORDW?
Both offer extraction layer, staging layer, datamart layer, aggregate layer, OBIEE + prebuilt reports.
I want to know how the fact extraction layer on ORMS etc. is done using ODI. Unfortunately I see no CDC/Streams approach, that we have chosen to use for our extensions to the ORDW datamodel. Is the extraction logic more or less a rebuild of the good old Pro*C DWI programs?
    Some points:
    - More products have been connected to ORMA, additional to RMS: ReIM, ReSA, ORMFP, ORPM.
    - ORMA has had an technology update for the ETL, from OR-only's custom RETL to the more general Oracle ODI (formerly Sunopsis).
    - Is it the promised/future integration of one set of conformed dimension reused and shared over all other to-be OR analytics products? (Like Marketing, Planning, Supply Chain, Stores).
    - ORMA offers 'Dashboards' - may be straightforward to make in RDW-OBIEE?
    - ORMA offers multiple timeviews, where base RDW only offers AsWas (SCD2) - bsiness users may appreciate the AsIs view, and PIT.

According to the RMS13.2 release notes (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12448_01/rms/pdf/rms_rfm_br/132/rms-132-rn.pdf), RETL and all RETL based interfaces to ORDW are desupported from 13.2!
“Discontinued Support for Oracle Retail Data Warehouse (RDW) Interfaces
A new analytical application is in development. Because of this strategic decision, support for interface between Oracle Retail applications and Oracle Retail Data Warehouse has been discontinued for Oracle Retail 13.2 releases. Oracle Retail Extract, Transform, and Load (RETL) extract scripts for RDW are not supported for use with Oracle Retail 13.2 applications and databases.”
That makes things a lot clearer!

  • Oracle 9i R2 Installation on RH Linux 7.3 -- Have a few questions.

    Hello,
I am at the end of the Oracle 9i R2 installation and have a few questions.
    1) The "Agent Configuration Assistant" keeps failing. I get the following message.
    Parameters "orahome" = /opt/oracle/product/9.2.0
    Parameters "nodeinfo" = NODE_VALUE
    Agent Service Failed
What does this mean and how can I complete Agent Configuration Assistant install?
    2) I completed the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant successfully and created passwords for sys and sysoper (not sure if these were the exact users). Note I did not modify any other users or unlock them.
How do I log into the sqlplus prompt, what users should I use and how can I create new users and databases?
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Regards,
    Chris Barone

    (1) You can probably just ignore the Agent Configuration (are you using the Agent to collect data?)
    (2) sqlplus '/ as sysdba' will log you into the SQL*Plus prompt.
