Oracle Retail RFI - Suppliers and GL Business Unit

Hi,
The user guide for Retail Financials Integration, version 14.0.1, page 22 regarding suppliers says:
'Suppliers must be assigned to at least one GL business unit (set of books)'
- Can somebody what does this mean from an EBS perspective? Does this mean that the Libility, Prepayment GL combinations need to be populated in the Accounting Options for the Supplier in EBS?

Can individual modules like Oracle Retail Allocation be used as standalone Products, without installing Oracle RMS?
The following point is mentioned in the Oracle® Retail Merchandising Implementation Guide Release 13.2.4 E28940-01
"RMS owns virtually all of the information that Oracle Retail Allocation needs to operate and the information that Oracle Retail Allocation provides is of primary interest/use for RMS. As a result Oracle Retail Allocation has limited interaction with other Oracle Retail Merchandising Operations Management applications. For Oracle Retail Merchandising

So, for implementing Oracle Retail Allocation, is Oracle RMS mandatory?

My understanding is yes.
The text you provided indicates that Allocations does not directly communicate with other modules, such as SIM, but instead does so via RMS. When you install RMS without Alloc, you actually get a lot of the database tables & DB package code for Alloc. This gives some indication as to the level of dependency that Alloc has on having RMS installed.

Hi, i'm new with Oracle Retail and ORACLE RPAS. I would like ton know the best way to backup RPAS or if RPAS support Real Application Cluster or something like that.

What makes up the added value in OR MerchandiseAnalytics over ORDW?
Both offer extraction layer, staging layer, datamart layer, aggregate layer, OBIEE + prebuilt reports.
I want to know how the fact extraction layer on ORMS etc. is done using ODI. Unfortunately I see no CDC/Streams approach, that we have chosen to use for our extensions to the ORDW datamodel. Is the extraction logic more or less a rebuild of the good old Pro*C DWI programs?
Some points:
- More products have been connected to ORMA, additional to RMS: ReIM, ReSA, ORMFP, ORPM.
- ORMA has had an technology update for the ETL, from OR-only's custom RETL to the more general Oracle ODI (formerly Sunopsis).
- Is it the promised/future integration of one set of conformed dimension reused and shared over all other to-be OR analytics products? (Like Marketing, Planning, Supply Chain, Stores).
- ORMA offers 'Dashboards' - may be straightforward to make in RDW-OBIEE?
- ORMA offers multiple timeviews, where base RDW only offers AsWas (SCD2) - bsiness users may appreciate the AsIs view, and PIT.

“Discontinued Support for Oracle Retail Data Warehouse (RDW) Interfaces
A new analytical application is in development. Because of this strategic decision, support for interface between Oracle Retail applications and Oracle Retail Data Warehouse has been discontinued for Oracle Retail 13.2 releases. Oracle Retail Extract, Transform, and Load (RETL) extract scripts for RDW are not supported for use with Oracle Retail 13.2 applications and databases.”
That makes things a lot clearer!

Oracle Retail 13.1 released

As can be seen on http://edelivery.oracle.com , the installers and documentation of Oracle Retail 13.1 have been released.
This was also announced for June 2009 by Duncan Angove on CrossTalk.
No press release I have been able to locate yet. On Metalink the search term "13.1 release value proposition retail" delivers about 10 documents describing the key product enhancements.
The release notes in the installers have of course more detail.
There seem to be quite a number of important new features out there - both functonal and technical (RIB has been dramatically enhanced in the AIA/SOA direction!)
Who provides the first overview of this exciting new release?
(And what I like to know is of what 13.0.x release the 13.1 has been drawn from.)

SCRM Business Units/Company & Facility Visibility

Hi Everyone,
Do the SCRM Business Units need to be enabled in order for users to view company and facility profiles? In the past, we have used P4P to view and edit company and facilities without the SCRM business units enabled on each UGM user’s profile. If I want to enable view only access to all company and facility profiles, do I need to enable and add the SCRM business units?
In our current environment, I can view and edit company and facility profiles without the SCRM business units enabled in UGM. However, when I assign users the SCRM login, search, company reader, facility reader permissions without edit options, I receive the “you do not have permission to view this specification.”
I found the following from one of the Oracle documents:
“SCRM now supports business unit (BU) security. Users will only have access to company and facilities they have been granted access to through SCRM business units on the UGM user profile. This feature also filters the users’ business unit selection list, only showing those business units they have    access to. BU security is configurable and can be turned on or off. The default feature configuration is off. If users have no business units of SCRM     assigned to their UGM user profile they will have access to all business units. Business Unit security can be ignored depending on the status of the     business unit on the company or facility profile. There is a configuration available to set up which business unit statuses are included when SCRM BU     security is evaluated: Common.SCRMBusinessUnitSecurity.Enabled”
My questions are as follows:
Is this a bug in our system?
Am I missing a permission for company/facility visibility?
Do the SCRM business units need to be enabled?

Is Common.SCRMBusinessUnitSecurity.Enabled set to true or false? If its set to false you may have found a bug.
If Common.SCRMBusinessUnitSecurity.Enabled is set to false, we only evaluate roles to determine who has read or edit access to a company profile. So the user must have [SCRM_COMPANY_READER] to see company profiles. Only users with [SCRM_COMPANY_EDITOR] can edit companies.
If Common.SCRMBusinessUnitSecurity.Enabled is turned on then we evaluate roles AND SCRM Business Unit association.
The same applies to facilities, however when we evaluate sourcing approval permissions it gets more complex. For sourcing approvals we evaluate workflow permissions, Object Level Security, SCRM BU Security AND GSM BU security of the BU on the associated specification.

Re: Oracle Retail Merchandise Analytics released

Hi,
I just started with Oracle Retail Analytics User guide document (ra133_ug.pdf) . While perusing the reports category in Merchandising Analytics, Inventory Scorecard ,Inventory Alert and type of the report is “Current Location Weeks of supply warning”(page no:51).
Whether it is pointing the number of quantities in the X axis graph or the weeks involved?
It is showing as weeks but numbers displayed are huge.

Hardware Requirement for Oracle Retail central office

We are going with Oracle retail with following modules
1) Oracle retail central office (ORCO)
2)back office (ORBO)
3) pos (POINT OF SERVICE)
4) Sim (store inventory management)
Before i discuss with implementation team for hardware , i need advice on best hardware configuration for Orco (Oracle retail central office) and Sim
following prerequisite will be installed on ORCO prod server
a)11gR2
b) weblogic server 10.3.5
c)jdk1.6
d)ORCO application
following prerequisite will be installed on SIM prod server
a)11gR2
b) weblogic server 10.3.5
c)jdk1.6
d)SIM application
Note : Operating system for both servers Oracle Linux 5.3 above/ Redhat linux 5.3 above

Among both sun servers and HP which one is best and how should be the structure for both ORCO and SIM.

Oracle Retail and Siebel Customer Order Management

Looking into a solution to handle Franchisee ordering.
Customer currently has Oracle retail to handle supplier purchase orders and PeopleSoft to handle the accounts payable. They currently have a custom built tool to handle franchisees.
Would Siebel Customer Order Management interface well with Oracle Retail, in terms of merchandising and supplier purchase order consolidation? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Not being able to answer all of your questions, however if I do understand ok your question re. 'standalone', there should be no need for setting up EBS if you already have Oracle Retail RMS/RPM - there is a direct, standard, feed from RPM to ORPOS. You may like to check the Oracle Retail merchandising integration guide, it does have a chapter on RMS/RPM - ORPOS/BO/CO integration.

It is indeed confusing.
If you see metalink knowledge browser and click on E-Business Suite, it has the Retail module.
However if you check from FND_APPLICATION_TL table, you wouldn't able to find them.

If you are using inventory, costing is used automatically.
IF you are using Purchasing, you receive the goods in inventory, so the costing kicks in automatically

How to Capture Multiple Cost centres and Business Unit information in a project?

Dear Experts,
With the help of UDA functionality in project super responsibility, I have captured Cost centre and Business unit information and this info will be used/reflected in CC and BU segments of all transactions gets recorded against that project.
Now, our user wish to have multiple cost centres and business units to be tracked in the same one project. How is this feasible? Below example describes my requirement in a summary, please advise.
An Indirect project is created when a defect on a machine reported from client's customer and all subsequent activities (purchases, travel to customer site to analyse and troubleshoot, purchases for any in-house analysis etc..involves costs spending internally) in resolving that defect/project involves 6 to 7 different departments (Sales, Tech Support, Quality team etc.,who actually work/travel and spend costs against project until defect resolution). And, each of the above departments will have 1 dedicated owner (project owners) to manage that project and each of these 6 or 7 owners owners will have their own cost centres (eg: 2345 - Sales team) against which they wish to see their transactions (travel, purchases during defect resolution) globally.
So, all I want to know is how can I make one single project to accommodate multiple cost centresand business unit information to be assigned using UDA? Please let me know if I am not clear.

I think you should use the expenditure organization on the transaction itself to derive the CC/BU. Have AA lookups and define AA rules where you look at a Exp Org to BU or Cost Center to derive accounting.

If this is a Characterstic defined - definitely this will be getting populated from Billing document in SD Module. Secondly, there could be a derivation rule defined as per your configuration. Derivation rules can be checked in Transaction code - KEDR.
