Oracle Retail

Hi all,
We are planning to install and test Oracle Retail 11.0.5 in our test box on either 11i or R12. But, come across with many doubts and would like your valuable response for our following questions.
1. How to install and implement Oracle Retail(Retek) in Oracle Applications (11i or R12) ?
2. Is Oracle Retail is already incorporated in EBS and comes as a part of EBS? or is it a seperate product? or available as a patch?
3. If seperate product, customer already using EBS can get the product free of cost? or need to purchase it?
Looking for immediate response...
Regards
Mahesh

    Hi Elmar,
I have checked the packages and the XFree86-libs-4.3.99 is not installed. I guess I will have to install it.
Now your question about oracle user. I am not sure if you have performed any SAP MDM installation with ORACLE RDBMS but the installation guide is totally different than the normal SAP inst guides. Indeed someone needs to install separately SAP MDM and ORACLE and in my installation I do not install NetWeaver since it is not mandatory for the testing phase of the project. You can have a look at the guide (it is very poor -no reference to ORACLE details):
    https://websmp105.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000271882007E
So the official ORACLE inst gudie says to install the ORACLE software with the oracle user.

    Hi Ahmed,
It sounds you have not yet had the chance to lay eyes on the installation guides - they are not perfect but should point you in the right direction.
Please start at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/documentation/oracle-retail-100266.html and check out the install guide per application module.

  • Oracle Retail Analytics

    Hi,
i would like to setup the Standard reports of Oracle Retail Analytics in OBIEE
can anyone explain, how do i get the data from RMS(Oracle retail merchandising system) to Retail Analytics,
and the sequence of batch files needs to be executed for populating the Retail Analytics tables.
how can i get to know the mapping between RMS to Retail Analytics.
    Regards,
    Prasanthi

    Hi Prasanthi,
RA uses ODI jobs to extract data from RMS. There are 3 stages/sequences of batches need to be executed to get the data into RA DB.
You can refer to RA documents ( Operation guide, data model ). Operation guide will give information about SDE's and SDE batches are used to extract data from RMS side.
To load the complete data from RMS to RA, users has to perform the below:
run SDE batches -> SIL batches -> PLP batches.
    Thanks,
    Savitha

  • Oracle Retail Products Installation and Implementation

Can individual modules like Oracle Retail Allocation be used as standalone Products, without installing Oracle RMS?
The following point is mentioned in the Oracle® Retail Merchandising Implementation Guide Release 13.2.4 E28940-01
"RMS owns virtually all of the information that Oracle Retail Allocation needs to operate and the information that Oracle Retail Allocation provides is of primary interest/use for RMS. As a result Oracle Retail Allocation has limited interaction with other Oracle Retail Merchandising Operations Management applications. For Oracle Retail Merchandising
Operations Management applications that Oracle Retail Allocation does interact with it is managed through direct reads from Oracle Retail Merchandising Operations Management application tables, direct calls to Oracle Retail Merchandising Operations Management packages, and Oracle Retail Allocation packages based on Oracle Retail Merchandising Operations Management application tables."
So, for implementing Oracle Retail Allocation, is Oracle RMS mandatory?

    My understanding is yes.
The text you provided indicates that Allocations does not directly communicate with other modules, such as SIM, but instead does so via RMS. When you install RMS without Alloc, you actually get a lot of the database tables & DB package code for Alloc. This gives some indication as to the level of dependency that Alloc has on having RMS installed.

  • Performance Testing Oracle Retail Demand Forecasting application

How do you get the error? The error occurs during playback in which I am getting a "You are trying to access a page that is no longer active" error. In addition, it states "- The referring page may have come from a previous session. Please select Home to proceed."
Can you post an example of "most of the correlation that is being referenced throughout the internet seemed to contain NCA functions"?
This was the link I was referring to http://martinspier.co.uk/how-to-script-oracle-11i-apps-on-loadrunner. I don't have the current knowledge in the differences between 11i at the intricate level but it seemed like when I accessed our 11i environment, the login portion is also http/https protocol. From what I noticed though that some of the oracle forms (i.e. payments module) have been converted to Webforms. So I was thinking from a login testing standpoint, the use of this tutorial would still be applicable. However, I just checked the Test Starter Kit Information Center (Note 239746.1) that Steven Chan provided and have downloaded their sample login script for 12.0.4. It seemed that they used the same multi NCA, WEB protocol but login information captured seemed to be capturing http requests only.
Thanks in advance Hussein and for anyone else who can chime in on this task. Any information would be greatly appreciated as I understand am new to not only Loadrunner but Oracle Financial Applications as well.

  • Integration of Oracle Financials (OF) with Oracle Retail (OR)

    Hi ,
We are currently doing a integration of Oracle Financials with Oracle Retail.
We have deployed BPEL processes for this. The Bpel process which transfers set of books from Oracle Financials is SendGLCCToRetek.
The problem is that the process is not transferring set of books id from Financials to Retail.
Any pointers on how what could be the reason. Is there any other BPEL process which should be deployed ?
Other deployed Bpel proceses are working as expected
    Best regards,
    brinda

The integration of set of books between Financials and Retail (through AIA) is not incorporated, it needs to be manually setup in Retail.
Ex: The Ledger ID's in EBS Financials or PSFT Financials, needs to be manually created as Set of Books in Retail (FIF_GL_SETUP table)

  • Oracle Retail R13 silently released April 17

    Hi,
At OAUG Collaborate08 conference in Denver it was announced that Oracle Retail would be released April 17 in a "silent release" - not too much media covering.
Indeed one can now find several R13 media packs at edelivery.oracle.com (licensing requirements of course apply there.)
I believe that a later release will receive more media coverage, I forgot whether that was about extended Fusion integration or about new features, or....
Four (patch) releases on R13 are announced to be released in 2008.
The list of applications for R13 currently includes
    - RMS
    - RSL
    - RETL
    - RDW
    - Allocations
    - SIM
    - ReIM
    - Oracle Retail Workspace (WebCenter)
    - RIB (SeeBeyond replaced with Oracle JMS/AQ, TopLink, Stateless Session Beans and Message Driven Beans, OAS).
    - RWMS
    and several others.
All GUIs have been remodelled to the uniform SWAN UI standard.
It was said on Collaborate08 that this would be the Linux release, subsequent AIX, Solaris, HP-UX to follow this summer. I believe that not every software component in the stack differs significantly per OS.
The media sets that I downloaded include a full documentation set.
    Please also see on MetaLink:
Overview Of Features And Enhancements Included In Release Version 12 And Assess Benefits Of Upgrading To Version 13
         Doc ID:      Note:465089.1      Type:      REFERENCE
         Last Revision Date:      30-OCT-2007
The documentation on http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/oracle_retail.html has yet not been extended with the R13 sets.
Nor have any patches been publicly published on MetaLink, though the release guide(s) do mention some known issues in the release(s). Some are being worked on, some patches are available on request.
    Regards,
    Erik Ykema

    Hi,
Just want to bring to your attention
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12462_01/merchandising/docset.html
in there is a pointer to "Data Conversion Operations Guide".
Highlevel this defines a series of more or less general staging tables for some entities, with corresponding batch programs that read the staging tables into the target RMS tables.
Entities like POs, Shipments, transfers etc. all are considered to be closed before migration, if I recall correctly.
Some entities are not in this DCOG and need custom treatment.
Also the following Metalink Notes may be of interest:
    Note:563313.1
    Note:725888.1
Also our System Integrator, Wipro Retail, has another approach, where they have a more or less reusable toolkit that is customized to the customer requirements and handles the whole lot.
I believe that on the Oracle Retail roadmap is a concept called 'scripted upgrades' which, according to the Oracle Retail Lifetime Support Policy (see PDF at oracle.com), should be available from R12 or R13 onwards, however I haven't seen it yet.
    Regards, Erik Ykema

  • Oracle Retail Clonning

    Dear All,
Is there any solution in oracle retail to have a new environment as a cloning from last cold backup instead of make a new installation?
I saw option like that in EBS. So please if you know any thing about that or any document just let me know.
    Best regards,
    Deiaa

    Hi,
I guess it depends on what you want to clone.
If it is non-infrastructure software, like Forms, Pro*C, you don't do anything else but a simple copy as long as the platform is the same, with the same libraries.
The database can be cloned by doing a restore, there is very few information inside the MOM tables that references hosts.
In RMS 13 would be the directories, in RMS12 and below it would be the libraries, you just rerun the script to reference the new path.
LANG table for the reports (in 12)
For RWMS, besides the printers I don't recall any other change.
    For SIM, no changes.
If you are talking about the infrastructure stuff, like Oracle kernel, OAS software or even OiD, it is possible and there are documents in Metalink that says how; but I personally think it is too much hassle because if you are doing a new environment from scratch, how many times do you have to do it?; and if you are restoring an already existent environment, then restoring using host's tools is preferred. (IMHO).
I guess the EBS cloning tool exists because of all the data inside the database that impacts host names and URLs, like for Discoverer and Portal, MOM Suite doesn't have (yet) that many references requiring a formal tool/script.

  • Apex running with Oracle Retail Applications

    Hi,
Has anyone had experiance of building Apex screens to run with the Oracle Retail Applications (ORMS, ORPM, ReIM etc) and if so the do you do authentication using mod_sql (as with EBS 11i) rather than using the Apex Listener as you would with EBS R12.1
I am assuming its possible to access the Apex screens from the Retail menu's but I have not looked into it in any dertail and just wanted to know that I am not waiting my time suggesting Apex as an extension technology around the Retail Applications.

Check the setting of the database init parameter - 'shared_server'
    From sqlplus connected as sys
    show parameter shared_server
To change the value of this parameter enter the following
    alter system set shared_server=5 scope=both;
