Oracle Server Connectivity through Internet

Hi
I have installed Oracle Server in my Office. Office Server SID is "ORACLE". My office website is "xxxxx.NET". I want to access Office Server from my home (here too Oracle Server available) place through internet. Can anyone please help me how to connect to my Office Server from my home place through internet. What are changes required in TNSNAMES.ORA file, SQLNET.ORA.

Hi, Is it the database server available from outside office??, Does server has a public interface? Do you have access to server through simple TCP connection from your home??
Luck.
Have a good day.
Regards.

  • Crystal Reports - Oracle server connection

    Hi Guys,
    I'm back to struggling with Crystal Reports XI Release 2.
    I'm trying to display a report that retrieves a set of data from an oracle database.
    I've got the following scenarios:
    - If I build a report using a JDBC connection and setting its properties from the crystal reports designer It works perfectly
    - If i build the same report using a connection type called Oracle Server and check the option SAVE DATA WITH REPORT works fine
    - The failure scenario is, creating the same report by using an Oracle server connection and disabling the SAVE DATA WITH REPORT option. I get the error message: Database logon failed. Database Vendor Error Code: 17002
    I've set a JDNI datasource in Tomcat already, and still getting the same error, as well as including this tag in my application web.xml
    <resource-ref>
    <description>Oracle Datasource example</description>
    <res-ref-name>oraclevt</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    Please, let me know if you have any hint regarding this issue as I've run out of ideas to sort it out.
    Thank you.
    Esteban.

    Hey evnafets how r u doing? Thanks very much for your reply.
    I checked the TNSName and looks fine, and it does match the JNDI name I created through the Tomcat Administration Tool.
    I tested the JNDI connection a couple of days ago and it didn't come through, it keeps giving me an error, even though I've verified everything is properly set and configured. The error message is:
    org.apache.commons.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create JDBC driver of class '' for connect URL 'null'
    This is the snipped code, si quite simple actually.
    System.out.println("Starting initial context");
                   Context initCtx = new InitialContext();
                   Context envCtx = (Context) initCtx.lookup("java:comp/env");
                   DataSource ds = (DataSource)
                   envCtx.lookup("jdbc/OFIC09FL");
                   Connection conn = ds.getConnection();
                   //... use this connection to access the database ...
                   conn.close();
    I've googled this issue and have not found a helpful solution. I guess this all the Crystal connection issue, don't you think? Any hints to make the jsp-jndi test work?

    Esteban.

  • Oracle server connection

    Hi All,
    Please suggest me how to create a oracle connection without using oracle server connection.
    I created like this.
    Goto new connection->Expand ODBC(RDO)->gave the credentials.
    But please suggest what is the use of below process found here
    http://scn.sap.com/thread/2002507
    Go to your Control Panel and open Administrative Tools -> Click on Data Source(ODBC).  On the User DSN tab, select a driver for which you want to set up a data source by clicking on the Add button.  Once done, the ODBC setup dialog box appears.  Provide your database login details and clik ok..Your ODBC connection is done.
    Next open your Crystal Report application(a blank report)not sure which version you are using, in my case it is Crystal Report XI Release 2.  On the Database Expert, expand Create New Connection.  Expand ODBC(RDO) , it will take you to the Data Source Selection.  Select the datasoure name and click Next.  Here, you need to give the login credential for accessing the Database. Once done, you will find the data available on the Crystal Report.

    Hi Abhilash,
    Can you please explain below step.
    Hello,
    This is by design and a limit of how CR works due to limitation in your PC resources. CR loads all of that info into memory, if there are too many to list, and typically it's more common when using Oracle due to it's ability have thousands of tables, is in the Database connection right click on the connection and then select Options. You can add filtering to limit what you see.
    Only option you have to be able to get to see all tables required for your report. Don't add tables if they are not required or if you can't link them. Work arounds are to create a collection of Stored Procedures or Views so you see just what you need.

  • BPC server connectivity through Public IP

    Hi,
    We want to connect remotely to BPC server over internet. Though server has been put over public IP(through some internal server), while connecting it throws an error message. We are connecting through default port as well as secure port. Is there any port needed to be opened on this server so that we can access BPC application remotely. Port number currently opened is 3200.
    If anyone has done this remote connectivity with BPC earlier please share your experience?
    Thanks,
    Raman

    Thanks Ethan, we are able to connect remotely on port number 80, however we need to change this port number to some other port number due to potential security threat. To accomplish this I changed port number in the IIS to 90 as well as the Web and ServerManager configuration files.
    I followed the folowing instructions as per install guide:
    To change the port number for the Web configuration file, open the Web.config file: <Server
    install folder>\Websrvr\web\Web.config, and change the value of the port number
    in the AppServer_URL key.
    To change the port number for the Server Manager configuration file, open the <Server
    install folder>\Server Managment\OsoftInstall.xml file, and change the value of the
    port number in the <port><PORT></port> key.
    I did exactly as per the instructions above but not able to connect to BPC even in the local network. I am not sure what is going wrong. Addtionally when I launch BPC serverManager now I get the error tHAT USER DOESN'T HAVE sYSaDMIN PREVILEGE.
    Appreciate your help on this issue.
    Thanks,
    Raman

  • IPad 2 connection through internet sharing

    This may be answered somewhere else on the discussions, but I would like some assistance in connecting an iPad 2 to the internet through an iMac that is connected through an Alltel wireless card.  In the iMac, I've turned Internet Sharing on, and the airport is also on.  What am I missing ? ? ?   Or is it not possible ? ? ?

    Jack:
    I wrote this on an earlier thread and it seemed to help another user so give it a try. Bold type is specific to you. Ignore anything you already know. I'm not sure if you can share the connection from a wireless connection (you CAN share from ethernet) but these are the steps and it may work.
    OK if you selected Internet Sharing on the Mac you must also select
    Share your Connection from - Ethernet (select ethernet) I think you would choose the Airport option since your are using a wireless card
    To Computers Using - Airport (your iPad is the computer using Airport in this case)
    Then you may have to select the Internet Sharing option again - put a checkmark in the box
    Then go to Security in your preferences and select Firewall - turn off the Firewall to allow incoming connections to your Mac
    Make sure you have Airport enabled on your Mac and go up to the Airport icon at the top of the screen, click on it, and drop down to select - Create Network. A box will come up and it should offer your computer's name as the default network name. You can name the network whatever you like. Then create a password.
    This should be what you need to do to get connected. Once you do all of the steps on the Mac, reboot your iPad, go to Settings>WiFi>Network and select your new network.

    Hi Maksud,
    How do you get this error? When logging to the application? What does Apache log file say (error_log and access_log)?

  • Loss of Client/Server Connection through

    Hello,
    i do have a big problem. We loos connection after 10 minutes between oracle-client and server.
    It is install a firewall between client and server and the firewall will close this ports after 10 minutes, witch dont user it for the datatransfer. I will hold this connection for the longer time, because on the server runs jobs for a longer time as 10 minutes. When i will try to connect from the oracle-client to the oracle-server, then i get problem with this jobs on a server, because it will start the same job which to run on a server since few minutes.
    Can anyone help me, please.
    Thanks Frank

    Thanks for the answere.
    i had find out, how can i hold the connection.
    Enable "Dead Connection Detection" i the sqlnet.ora. Set sqlnet.oxpire_time = 10 (10 Minutes is default.)
    As soon as the Firewall will clost the connection in 10 Minutes, then set less as 10 Minutes. Use 9 Minutes or less........
    Important: Reset the Oraclelistener unter "Services" !!!!

  • Oracle Server Access through DSL Router

    Hi All,
    I have Oracle 9i server on Windows 2000 and working fine in Local Area Network. I have broadband connection with one static IP. Internet ISP has given a router. From outside office I can connect to Oracle through the static IP. I just have to do port forwarding settings in the router. I tried port forwarding settings for terminal services, web server, Citrix, and other applications and it is working fine. But when I do port forwarding for Oracle for port 1521 (Oracle is running on default port) then from outside Office LAN it doesn't work. Can anyone help me out why I'm not able to connect to Oracle.
    Praveen

    Perhaps because 1521 is only being used for the initial contact with the listener. Once that contact has been established, the listener tells the database and the user process to communicate on another port - often randomly assigned.
    Which can be circumvented by using the conneciton manager as described in the Networking reference manual in the database docco.

  • Idle Oracle DB connection through ACE dropped after 1 hour

    Hi folks,
    I'm looking for some ideas how to troubleshoot a problem we're having with an Oracle App.
    What we are finding is that when a request takes more than an hour for the Oracle DB to process the connection is being dropped.
    When wireshark is used at DB server interface we see nothing for an hour and then a single packet RST,ACK with the source identified as the App Server.
    We have an App server farm that is behind an ACE module that is in bridging mode. The DB server is on another VLAN so the path the traffic takes is from the App Svr through the ACE from the back to the frontside vlan, through the 6506's MSFC to be routed to the DB server.
    Path like this:
    Appserver|-->VL203-->|ACE|-->VL202-->|L3 Switch|-->VL200-->|DB Server
    If we move the App server to Vlan 202 in front of the ACE the process carries on to completion (after 75 mins).
    Is there anything in the ACE settings that could cause the connection to be dropped after an hour for traffic that should simply be being bridged through?
    Any suggestions as to where to look next would be appreciated.
    TIA
    Zac

    OK Gilles, I'll look at that in the morning. However, this is where it gets interesting.
    We have DB servers on two other VLANs routed by the same switch. The connections to those DB servers don't get cut off after an hour (In the connection path I outlined swap VLAN 200 for VLAN 50 or VLAN 205) One of them is even behind the ACE in a different server farm.

  • Airport connection through Internet Sharing

    Hi
    I was wondering if I have a Powerbook G4 with an airport Extreme card installed and I have a Desktop G5 without airport, can I do Internet Sharing through my cable modem, so I can get online with my laptop wirelessly and without a router or does my G5 have to have an airport card installed as well?
    thanks for the help

    I believe Duane was alluding to the fact that you have more options when using a router: configurations, security, expandability, etc. than you would if you limited yourself to just Internet Sharing.
    With your current situation, instead of getting a wireless card for the G5, you can get (for example) a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. This router also has a built in network switch so you can still connect your G5 using Ethernet cable.
    Your network configuration would then be:
    Cable Modem > (Ethernet cable) > [WAN] Linksys Router [LAN] > (Ethernet cable) > [Ethernet port] G5, AND
    Linksys Router > (wireless) > wireless clients.
    Later, if you still wanted, you can get the wireless card for the G5, and all of your computer can access the Internet wirelessly.
    As far as dial-up, this particular router won't support Internet connectivity. Instead, the only one that I'm aware of would be the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS). No, in this case, you would just use the built-in dial-up moden in your computer.

  • I am able to connect to the internet using internet explorer, but when I try to connect through mozilla firefox it says 'it is unable to establish a connection to the server." why?

    I can establish internet connection through internet explorer using a router at my house, but whenever I attempt to connect using firefox, it says it is unable to connect.

    A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • I can't get online through firefox (this keeps coming up THE PROXY SERVER IS REFUSING CONNECTIONS) but can through internet explorer?

    As I said in the question when I click on the firefox link on the desktop this is what comes up (THE PROXY SERVER IS REFUSING CONNECTIONS Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections) but I can get connected through Internet Explorer. I have uninstalled firefox and reinstalled firefox with no difference.

    I tried all that stuff and none of it helped. I can't load any of the google applications in firefox now. They pop up with this screen.
    This Connection is Untrusted
    You have asked Firefox to connect securely to mail.google.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
    Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
    What Should I Do?
    If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
    mail.google.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it was issued by an invalid CA certificate. (Error code: sec_error_inadequate_key_usage)
    Now I tried a couple of other sites and they all seemed to work okay, and if necessary I could click understand the risks and still access the site, but no go with google. Considering I use my google account for my calendar and gmail a lot, I am highly disappointed with this new update. I hate using IE and really prefer to use Firefox.
