Sergio, is this pdf viewable only for Oracle Employees? I am saving the pdf and it becomes a blank pdf document. I have saved it 3 times now and the same is happening. Please help. The original link

works for me.
I had recently upgraded my Firefox browser to a newer version and many PDFs failed to display properly until I changed the Firefox MIME action. Instead of using the default plugin action to display the document in a browser window I now have firefox default to a download with auto-launch of my PDF viewer.
I've done this to two different Windows Desktops:
WinXP and Adobe Reader on one and Win7 with Foxit Reader on another.
Both were giving me PDF issues after a browser upgrade and both are now successfully giving me viewable documents.
In Firefox -->
Tools --> Options --> Applications
Change the choice of action from plugin to the application.

  • Oracle To End Support for Java 7

No More Free Updates for Java 7 after April 2015
Users must sign long-term support deals or migrate to Java 8 to avoid 'enormous headache and disruption to millions of applications'
Public updates for Java 7 -- including bug and security fixes -- will end this month, a situation that one security advocate says could impact millions of applications.
"As outlined in the Oracle JDK [Java Development Kit] Support Roadmap, after April 2015, Oracle will not post further updates of Java SE [Standard Edition] 7 to its public download sites," Oracle's Java SE Support Roadmap states. "Customers who need continued access to critical bug fixes and security fixes as well as general maintenance for Java SE 7 or older versions can get long-term support through Oracle Java SE Support. The process of migrating users from Java 7 to Java 8 through the auto update feature is expected to take place after the January 2015 CPU release."
[ The art of programming is changing rapidly. We help you navigate what's hot in programming and what's going cold and give insights into the technologies that are changing how developers work. | Keep up with hot topics in app dev with InfoWorld's Application Development newsletter. ]
Oracle released Java SE 7 in July 2011; Java SE 8 was released in March 2014. Java, particularly on the client side, has been beset by security issues in recent years. But Oracle has taken many steps to address the issues and stressed that most of the problems dated back several years, before Oracle took over Java from Sun in 2010.
Still, the impact of Oracle's cessation of public updates could be severe, an official at security firm Waratek, believes. Oracle's "rapid" end-of-life schedule for Java versions is great for innovation and language evolution, Waratek CTO John Matthew Holt said in an emailed statement. "However, there is a dangerous tradeoff; now millions of Java 7 applications will have to defend themselves against code-level vulnerabilities without the benefit of future fixes." Holt advocates either upgrades to Java 8 or use of Java Run-time Application Self Protection (RASP) technologies (Waratek is a RASP vendor).
This week's security update from Oracle, meanwhile, marks the "proverbial 'end of the road' for Java 7 application security, Holt said. "After today, the only version of the Java Platform which will receive public security updates is Java 8.  This is huge news, and it is going to cause enormous headache and disruption to millions of application owners around the world."
Contacted Tuesday afternoon for a comment on the end of public updates for Java SE 7, by late evening Oracle had not yet responded.
The April 2015 Critical Patch Update released Tuesday by Oracle provides 98 new fixes for security issues across a wide range of product families, said Eric Maurice in an Oracle blog post. These range from Oracle Database to Oracle Fusion Middleware, Java SE, and MySQL. Fourteen of the security fixes are for Java SE.

Java 7 has already been dead for quite a while. While you could still use it for Java apps on your system, Apple blocked its use in browsers long ago. You have to install version 8 if you need Java support for the web.

  • Oracle CM SDK support  on Oracle DB 11g?

    Hi,
Is the Oracle CM SDK supported on Oracle DB 11g? Is there a roadmap for this product as it's future seems a little vague?
    Thanks for your help
    Tim

I don't know that it is certified at this time.
I do not feel that platform is the go forward strategic direction oracle is taking though.
The current direction is the Oracle ECM set of products which have several integration paths including RIDC, CIS, SOAP, COM, Web Services, etc. Of course, this is all at cost and you may be asking as already own or are invested in the tools you are asking about!

  • When will Oracle 10g/11g support Windows Server 2008 and AIX6.1

    Hi all
I'm sorry if I post it in a wrong place... But I really want to know when will Oracle 10g/11g support Windows Server 2008 and AIX 6.1?
I've searched in metalink but found nothing useful. Is there anybody can give me a link of Oracle's roadmap for platform support?
    Thanks!

Oracle does not announce release dates and neither
does any other software company. But Oracle does have a very good track record of supporting their products on new windows releases extremely close to the windows release date. Clearly they can't support on an unreleased platform though. Given that the launch of Server 2008 isn't even complete worldwide yet (19th March in the UK for example) it would seem that this enquiry is a little premature.

  • Oracle can not support upto 32 characters table name and field name ?

    hi
    oracle up limitation ?
    create table aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa(a char);
    Error
    ORA-00972:identifier too long
    or
    create table a (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa char);
    Error
    ORA-00972:identifier too long
Oracle can not support upto 32 characters table name and field name ?
    It is true?
    null

    Hello All
It's been a year after those posts about the limit of identifiers in Oracle Database. Does anybody know what can be done to get rid of that primitive limit? We are developing using Application Servers, Java, generated Code and a very nice object model, in which we can't just use abreviations because of early database age memory shortcomings.
We are currently using 8i in a very large organization. Is there any chance this version can be configured to allow larger identifiers? Is upgrading to 9i going to solve this problem? Is Oracle Databases really doomed forever because of a 20-year-ago limitation?
Please, I do like Oracle Databases. I don't want to be flooded with quick answers like "just use 32 character identifiers". I would like to hear a serious solution. Is anybody there still locked in the 8.3 filename paradigm of MS/PC-DOS? Does anybody has to fit an entire Enterprise System in segmented 640Kb of memory? Does anybody has to use monochrome character mode interfaces? Of course not those in the mainstream.
I also know that other hadrware and software products have lots os limitations. Take Windows 2000. Its command line has a limit of 255 characters! You can't have more than 4GB of memory in a PC! However, one can't expect one mistake to justify others.
I wish I were very wrong in this respect, and all it should be necessary is to turn on some kind of configuration parameter in 8i to allow us to develop high quality code.
    Thanks for your attention.
Please, feel free to contact me if you have a solution.

  • Can I install Sun Cluster on LDOM guest domain. Is Oracle RAC a supported c

    Hello,
Can I install Sun Cluster on LDOM guest domains. Is Oracle RAC on LDOM guest domains of 2 physical servers a supported configuration from oracle?
    Many thanks in advance
    Ushas Symon

    Hello,
The motive behind using LDOm Guest domains as RAC node is to have a better control of the resource allocation, since i will be having more than one guest domains which should perform different functions. The customer wants to have ORACLE RAC alone (without sun cluster).
I will have two T5120's and one 2540 shared storage.
My plan of configuration is to have
    Control&IO Domain with 8VCPU, 6GB mem
one LDOM guest domain on each physical machine with 8 VCPU's, 8GB of memory, shared n/w and disks participating as RAC node's. (Don't know yet if i will use solaris cluster or not)
one guest domain on each physical machine with 12 VCPU's, 14GB of memory, shared n/w and disks participating as BEA weblogic cluster nodes (not on solaris cluster)
One guest domain on each physical machine with 4 VCPU's, 4GB of memory, shared n/w and disks participating as apache web cluster (on solaris cluster)
Now, My question is, is it a supported configuration to have guest domains as Oracle RAC participants for 11gR2 (either with or without solaris cluster).
If I need to configure RAC nodes on solaris cluster, is it possible to have two independent clusters on LDOM , one 2 node cluster for RAC and another 2 node cluster for apache web?
    Kindly advise
    Many thanks in advance

  • Oracle application production support career guidance

    hi

with learning of sql and shell scripting
i want to make my career in oracle which should be more dynamic, learning and creative not like in production support which have monotonus life.
could anyone please guide me about what career path i should choose ?
DBA , i have heard is montonous job too with same routine backups,no creativity with nightshifts and all, but it is more stable as people said. I have no experiance of it.
second devolper track in sql/pl sql having its own limitations like less demand, less financial growth etc. and people usually wants to shift in other area like BO
i don`t have any info about others areas like that i would like to explore
    1)Datawarehousing
    2)Oracle apps
    3)Business objects (BO reporting)
    4)Oracle CRM etc
5)Others (thats all i know, please add some others if they are creative )
    Problem area:
1)iam really confused now which way to choose development or support?
2)how to jump in other company on what basis after total experience of 2 years? Since iam in prod support they will hire me for the same again
3)How could i get to others areas like CRM,BO datawarehouse, apps ?As they more demanding and good learning and future path

i want to make my career in oracle which should be more dynamic, learning and creative not like in production support which have monotonus life.I wish it were monotonous! When it costs $$/second for production to stop, it can get very exciting very fast!

second devolper track in sql/pl sql having its own limitations like less demand, less financial growth etc. and people usually wants to shift in other area like BOThere is about 10X more demand for developers than administrators over the long term. Various sub-specialties are hot at various times. But that isn't as important as knowing what excites you.

5)Others (thats all i know, please add some others if they are creative )
    Problem area:
1)iam really confused now which way to choose development or support? Most people find development much more exciting. But that depends on what you like and what your skill set is and the support environment. I once had a support job that I loved, until it simply became overwhelming in volume. I've seen support people in jobs that I just pitied, they were so bad. DBA is my real love, what's yours? I have a dev/support/admin job, so even though most work isn't what I would choose, I still get to do what I find exciting. It took a lot of experiences to get to this point, though.
2)how to jump in other company on what basis after total experience of 2 years? Since iam in prod support they will hire me for the same againThat is true, headhunters and HR departments want those with 2 years experience in a specific skill set, because they are cheaper. The trick is to find an environment where you can move to what you want. For many people, that is a development environment, especially if you can find a mentor that can help you move in the direction you want. Of course, you need to define that direction. Life throws all sorts of opportunities at you at random times, you need to be prepared to seize them when they come.
3)How could i get to others areas like CRM,BO datawarehouse, apps ?As they more demanding and good learning and future pathDevelopment and implementation are about it. They all have a future path, some are very boring. What's boring to me may be exciting to you.
4)what to do right now at this position to enhance my skill set in this field (What to learn? )Look at the sites that post job ads in your area. You need a critical eye to translate into what they really want, but it becomes obvious what is hot. Of course, you need to know what will be hot in a couple of years, but if you see what is hot now, you can pick up on those in a couple of years when something else is hot, and eventually catch up.

Please suggest!A lot of work is what you make of it, attitude overrides knowledge. You can always learn, but your attitude comes from within and takes effort to improve.
If you can find something that you like that everyone else thinks is bad, so much the better. That is the essence of geekdome.

  • Can Oracle 11g RAC support 2 separate databases?

    1. Can Oracle 11g RAC support 2 separate databases given that it asks for SCAN ip for cluster with a single Listener port number?
    2. Will the Oracle 11.2 database connections work successfully if I setup a mandatory DNS server within the Oracle RAC servers?
I'm leading a team for a 11g project and appreciate responses.
    Thanks
    Satish.

No Real Application Cluster technology has ever supported more than one database.Quite untrue.
I know that both you and Tom Kyte take the stand that a cluster should have only 1 instance per node.
That doesn't mean that it is not possible to have more than one database in a cluster -- i.e more than one instance in a node.
That doesn't mean that it must always be so. Installing a separate cluster and additional EE + RAC licences for a separate database can be quite expensive. Of course, your reply is "consolidate". That is another debate that has been going on for years.
A discussion on multiple databases on RAC is also at

  • How to configure Oracle National Language Support for Hindi

    Hello
I am Working on one library project and right now it is in foxpro.
it is working in local(hindi) language using c-dec software. Now i want to run this project using oracle national
language support.i have done lots of rnd on that but till could not get success.what's wrong with that?
Following the step i am applied for that
1 I have create the database using in8iscii character set. Because In8iscii support the Hindi Language.
2 Set the variable NLS_LANG = hindi_india.in8iscii in environment. I am using the Windows 2000 OS because
    it supports the Hindi font(Mangal).
3 I am using the Oracle Developer as front end so using mangal font in front end i am able to display data
in Hindi format that's why i am selected Windows 2000 os.
4 I have done the special setting in Windows 2000 for Hindi.it is in controlpanel-regional setting-click the indic option
for india and in input locals set keyboard layout as Hindi also.
5 I also changed the Init.ora file and add the NLS_LANGUAGE = Hindi
nls_territory = india. now, I opens the database using this Init.ora file.
6 But It can't display the data in Hindi format.I could not able to display the data in Front End also.
So,pls help me in Oracle and also guide me in Linux platform also.
    null

    Hi Nimit,
I have tried inserting Hindi/Marathi into an Oracle database (I have tried versions 8.0.6 and 8.1.7).
I created the database using UTF8 character set. The NLS_LANG was set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8. Inserts into the database were via iSQL*Plus or import. For querying I used OCI and Pro*C. The data for my app is being served up as XML. I have not tried Developer. The DB platforms have been both HPUX and Win2K, while the client platform has been Win2K/IE5.5 SP2. I have been using Code2000 as the font.
Did you manage to view the stored data using the export utility ?
Also, you can try using yudit to edit unicode files on Linux.

    regards
    senthil.

    Hello,
I am not sure to understand your question.
Oracle Lite is a SQL Database , and you can access it from Oracle Application Server using the correct JDBC driver and then use the JSP Tag libs to access the data (JSTL SQL) or any JDBC API in J2EE.
If I am not answering your question please add more details about what you are trying to achieve...

  • Oracle 9iAS R2 support for JAX - RPC / B / P /M

    Hi,
browsing the web I came accross to the following links:
    http://otn.oracle.com/tech/webservices/htdocs/wsvsm/wsorcl.html
    http://otn.oracle.com/tech/xml/htdocs/standard.html
And it seems that Oracle 9iAS R2 supports the libs mentioned on Subject.
From other channels I've been told that this is not true at least for some of them on OC4J 9.0.3/4.
Can anyone please clarify this ?
    Aren't OC4J 9.0.3/9.0.4 part of 9is R2 ?
    Thanks.
    Giuseppe.

Actually, JAXB is the preferred mechanism going forward with 10.0.3 JAXRPC Web Services(http://otn.oracle.com/tech/java/oc4j/1003/content_preview.html) - you will see in the XDK 10 beta (http://otn.oracle.com/tech/xml/xdk/xdkbeta.html).
However, in 9iAS R2 JAXB is not built in ... if you want to go down this road you can try working with the JAXB RI.
Our plans with 10.0.3 start with support JAXB in the run time but also within the design time of JDeveloper. The goal would be to model your schema in its new visual schema editor, have a design time option to generate the JAXB object model and then implement a Web service that consumes that schema. Of course this could be done out side of JDev - JDev just gives a design time rather than command line tools from the runtime.
    Mike.
