Oracle SOA Certification Study Guide

Hi All,
I am planning to take SOA certification from Oracle pretty soon. I was wondering if there is any study material apart from the one provided in training. I don't think the course material would be sufficient. Please help.
Thanks,
S.

Hi Sharad
Normally are all the certification based on the Oracle traning course materials, so see the exam requirement, have to read carefully the materials, make the excercices and try to pass the exam-
Good luck.

  • Oracle EJB / Persistance certification study guide

    Hello -
I'm sorry if I've asked a redundant question, if I have let me know.
I want to take the either the "Java Persistence API Developer" or "Enterprise JavaBeans Developer" certification exams from Oracle, but I'm having a hard time identifying a good study book. There used to be a couple of good books for the old Sun Web Developer exam (I recall that the O'Rielly HeadFirst series had a very nice one), but I haven't found anything for these current exams. Also, the published "Apress" makes a guide for the Oracle Java 7 exam, but doesn't seem to make one specifically targeted at the two more advanced certs I mentioned.
I've been a professional J2EE developer for 10 years now, and have used EJB, Hibernate, EJB3, etc for this entire time. I feel comfortable developing applications in this realm, I was really just looking for a well organized study guide / workbook to help prep me for the exam.

I would check out the certification descriptions on the Oracle site for further reference material as advised by Oracle itself. Likely there may be even training classes involved.

  • Does reading ACE certification study guides help me understand photoshop?

There are plenty of tutorials online teaching people how to do this and that; but for a newbie like me, the biggest problem is, I can follow the recipes, but most of the time, I don't understand the reason behind them. I have been wondering if these things would become more obvious and intuitive if I have a fundamental understanding of the tools first.
Adobe seems to give out certification exams.  I am just wondering if it would be helpful to buy a exam study guide and read it through (not necessarily going for the certification).  Has anyone done it?  What guide is the best? Or do these guides are just more advanced recipes without explaining anything either?

I would suggest that you look at Adobe Classroom in a Book Photoshop CS5, Adobe Press.
It does a good job of sharing the "why," almost as much as the "how." I feel that too many books, and tutorials skip the why, while only concentrating on the how. Many of the ACE questions come from the chapter review material, which is in Q&A form.
    Good luck,

  • Oracle Forms Exam study guide

I want to study for the Oracle Forms: Build Internet application exam (IZ0-141) is this exam specified by oracle versions? Forms for 9i looks a little different that forms for 10g. If it is for 9i the download for Oracle9i Application Server is no longer available, neither is the database version. I want the setup a practice lab for the exam and I want to make sure I am using the correct configuration and that the exam is not go to refer to items that is no longer available.
    Thanks!

The exam has been validated against both versions of the training. However, we recommend the 10g training over the 9i. Hope this helps.

  • Oracle SOA Suite Certification

    hi',
I have tried to find about 'Oracle SOA Suite Certification' however never been able to find anything,
Has any one in this forum ever appeared for Oracle SOA certification who can guide me how to do this.
I have tried to contact people in Oracle itself,
people in Oracle will very nicely give you an email of some lady in Bangalore taking care of this, you put her
an email and you get one standard templete which has practically nothing in it, you ask her what books to refer
she dosent know anything and she is the incharge of SOA certification in Oracle Bangalore.
Looks like either Oracle SOA certification is of no use/worthless or people want to keep the information hidden.
if someone has info about this certification please share.
    thanks

  • Oracle's Certification Benefit?

I have become disappointed in Oracle's own recognition of their Certification programs. I am currently OCP for 7.x,8.0,8i, & 9i, (and taking 10g and '10g on Linux Expert' in about a week.) I have been Oracle certified for almost 10years now.
Even upon completing 8i and 9i, Oracle neglected to send a cheesy Lapel Pin, as they had done in the past. I have visited the OCP website often, to see 'come back to look for more benefits soon' and a discount on Oracle Press Books. (Shopping EBAY often leads to better discounts.) Has anyone ever seen any other benefits (excepting attending OpenWorld?)
Having considered getting a Certified Master credential, I have determined it is cost prohibitive. Without a sponsoring organization, $2000 for a test, plus 2 ILT's, a total of $6k-10k seems excessive. Over the past 10 years, I have already spent upwards of $16k on my own education.
Oracle has not gotten the word out to managers and employers (via their sales reps) that obtaining a Certification from Oracle denotes any confidence from Oracle.
For those of us who have gone through the trouble of Certification, it would be a useful tool (when securing employment) to have some statistics on the numbers of Certified Individuals, ie:
    # of OCP's for 7.x
    # of OCP's for 8.0
    # of OCP's for 8i
    # of OCP's for 9i
    # of OCP's for 10g
    # of OCP'S HAVING BOTH 7.x and 8.0 (etc)
    # of 9i Linux Experts
    # of 10g Linux Experts
    # of 10g RAC Experts
    etc
It would also be useful to seperate these stats by Country, as well. At first, this may seem like an outrageous request (especially if all this information is stored in a MS database 8-) ! ) But if you begin to consider all the new features implemented since 7.x, you begin to realize this should be no big deal. I'll bet if Oracle Certification department posted the database names and table specifications, OCP's would come out of the woodwork to write the SQL.

That thread is exactly as applicable today as it was ten years ago... which is not saying a great deal. Generally the people who vehemently insist that IT certifications have no value have an agenda. Either they aren't certified, or failed a test and so must take the tack that the tests are useless and don't assess real-world knowledge. That said, the arguments against certifications generally come in some variant of the following:
    - People cheat on the tests and therefore having a certification is not a reliable means of determining knowledge.
    - The topics on the tests doesn't cover what you need to know in the real world.
    - Employers 'in the know' realize the certifications aren't useful and ignore them.
People who are willing to cheat on the tests are probably also willing to lie about their experience, 'enhance' their resumes, and try to gain enough of a surface veneer of knowledge using 'Oracle Interview Question' books to try to get an interview and skate through it. Certifications didn't create these people and eliminating certifications won't make them go away. Any hiring manager must take due diligence to weed them out during the interview. For that matter, cheating is rampant in the universities these days. My wife taught college-level History and had 1-2 in every class that blatantly cheated on their work. You don't generally see people claiming that this means college degrees have become useless.
I write certification study guides. I know about the information that is asked on these tests. The vast majority of the information that is in the topics is valuable to know. I will grant that upgrade tests tend to be all over the map, and may test you on features that you might personally not use. I will also say that understanding the topics on the certification exams is not enough to be able to perform the activities of a DBA, Developer, etc. However, a test that truly covered all of the information you really need to know for that would be nearly impossible to write, to study for, and to pass. What the tests do provide is a general background in the information that someone working in that field should be cognizant of.
The last point I can state from personal experience is baloney. I have seen certifications provide a positive factor from both sides of the interview table. There is no way that a candidate with an 11G DBA OCP but no experience would be hired over a candidate with no certification but several years of experience. However, they do act to tip the balance in making decisions and they do help when resumes are in the initial sort process for determining who to interview. Even when the hiring DBAs don't give much weight to certifications, they never act as a negative factor. No hiring manager decides not to hire a candidate that's a good fit simply because they have an OCP and the manager feels OCPs don't mean anything.
Outside of the three above points, I can tell you that I am a better programmer and DBA in part because of certifications. I earned several certifications soon after the program started, but then didn't do anything to upgrade for several years. I didn't take the 9i DBA upgrade test until 10G had been out for several years. When I finally studied for the upgrade test, I found several PL/SQL enhancements that answered problems I was experiencing in development. I immediately started writing better code because I went after that certification. If you actually study for the test as you should, then that process will increase your value as an Oracle professional and boost your career prospects. Having the piece of paper and a line for your resume is just icing on the cake.

  • Oracle SOA Architect Certified Expert

    Hi
Just need to ask what happened to earlier BEA SOA-Exams (0B0-106 and 0B0-107). Has it been merged with 1Z0-114 Oracle SOA Foundations, Adoption and Implementation? Or they have changed entire course and certification content?
I read entire BEA material now BEA exams are not there i am afraid to take Oracle SOA Certification.
    Any info please???
    Many Thanks

Whether it's Oracle SOA or BEA SOA! :D
How does this help in career. I am presently a novice developer with Fusion middleware knowledge.Could anyone help me to understand the importance of this certification..Appreciate your help.

It is an Oracle SOA certification, however, the exam did not change when it was brought over from BEA.

  • Where to buy the study guide for Oracle Forms Developer 9i or 10g

Hi, I am learning Oracle Forms Developer Build Internet Application. I am comfortable with SQL and PL SQL. I need authenticate Oracle Study Guide for Forms Developer which will help me in learning basics to advance level but I cannot afford the classroom course, it is beyond my pocket capacity. So I would like to know if Oracle sell only the study guides. I inquired at Book Shops in my area but did not get any help.

I just went through Oracle Press and Sybex websites and it seems none of the books available suits my requirement. Not everyone can afford class room training unless it is fully or partially sponsored by their employers. And I don't understand what people learn in just 5 days. All the information you need to learn the products and pass the certification exams is available in the freely available Oracle documentation. Sure, it's nice to have the Oracle University training or exam prep books which is often specifically focused on the topics on the certification exam, rather than having to combine data from a few different manuals. But there the free Oracle documentation is pretty darned complete and you'll likely learn more from working through that documentation than you would from the Oracle University material just because you've got to do the work to put things together.

  • More Oracle Database SQL Expert [1Z0-047] study guides in pipeline?

    Hi
Are there more study resources (other than official Oracle book and Oracle Certification Prep summary) in pipeline or on market?

Are there more study resources (other than official Oracle book and Oracle Certification Prep summary) in pipeline or on market? The Oracle Press series isn't really 'from' Oracle, but rather is from McGraw Hill, so 'official' is a strong word to use. I know that Oracle provides some materials to the authors, but not the extent or type. There are very few authors/publishers that compete with Oracle Press in writing Oracle certification books. The three tests required for the DBA OCP (SQL, DBA1, DBA2) will normally generate competing books from Sybex and sometimes Packt. Beyond those tests, however, unless Oracle Press writes a certification guide, normally no one else does (and if Oracle Press writes a guide, then especially no one else does). This lack of certification materials for Oracle tests is a large portion of the reason I started writing my guides. Even then, one of the primary reasons why I designed them as a series of study guides rather than full-blown soup-to-nuts manuals is to avoid 'competing' with Oracle Press. I'd lose that fight, so I avoid it.
What I'm getting at (in a very roundabout way), is that I consider it very unlikely that another publisher will come out with a manual for 1Z0-047. The exam has been in production since early 2008 and the Oracle Press book has been out since late 2009. I don't think anyone is writing another one.
