Oracle Spatial very slow only in CF

I have a query that runs terribly slow when executed through
ColdFusion. When I comment out the Spatial portion of the query,
the query runs quickly. When I run this same query with the Spatial
portion included in a DB client such as SQLplus then it runs
quickly as expected. The oddest thing is that in the debugging the
query supposedly runs in 0 ms. Has anyone seen this before or have
any idea in what direction I should explore?

Hey Ken,
Thank you for giving me some direction. I have not used your
suggestions yet because I have to get with some of our other guys
to do it, but I thought I would note here another aspect of this
problem. It is not just the spatial Nearest Neighbor operator. It
is the combination of the Spatial Nearest Neighbor operator and an
'IN' statement. When I have the two together the mollasses start to
freeze but when I remove one or the other (SDO_NN or the 'IN'
statement), the query flies.
I will write again after I have followed your directions
below.
Again, thank you.

  • Retrieving record from oracle DB very slow..pls help

    Hi, i'm writing a VB code to retrieving records from Oracle DB Server version 8. I'm using VB Adodb to retrieve the records from various tables. Unfortunately one of the table are very slow to response, the table only contain around 204900 records. The SQL Statement to retrieve the records is a simple SQL Statement that contain WHERE clause only. Any issue that will make the retrieving time become slow? Is that a Indexing? Oracle Driver? Hardware Spec? Or any solution for me to improve the performance. Thanks!

    Well, there are a few things to consider...
    First, can you try executing your query via SQL*Plus? If there are database tuning problems, your query will be slow no matter where you run it.
    Second, are you retrieving significantly more rows in this query than in your other queries? It can take a significant amount of time to retrieve records to the client, even if it's quick to select them.

  • Oracle insert very slow (very urgent)

    Hello
    I am new to this forum and also new to oracle .... I am woking in a C# 3.5 desktop application
    I am Leasing data from socket (1 message per 10 millisecond) and save in queue<T> and then i have a background thread which dequeu the data and perform some calculation and create “insert sql query “ on run time NO STORE PROCEDURE just simple insert query
    For example
    insert into Product values(0,computer , 125.35);
    I pass that insert query to my datalayer which create oracle connection and insert in to a data base. see the code below
    using System.Data.OracleClient
    class db
    OracleConnection conns = null
    public static void conn(string dbalias, string userid, string password){
    try
    string connString = @"server =" + dbalias + ";uid =" + userid + ";password =" + password + ";";
    conns = new OracleConnection(connString);
    conns.Open();
    catch (OracleException e){
    Console.WriteLine("Error: " + e);}}
    public static void ExecuteCommand(string sqlquery)
    try
    OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand(sqlquery,conns);
    cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
    NOW the problem is that inseration in oracle database is very slow please tell me how to solve this issue

    Additionally:
    How slow? Just one single insert is slow? Or you're doing thousands of inserts that way and they add up to being slow?
    If you're doing a bunch of inserts, wrap a bunch of them inside a transaction instead of doing them one by one which will avoid a commit each time as well.
    Or use Array binding or Associatve arrays as indicated previously (You'd need to use Oracle's provider for that though ~ ou're using System.Data.OracleClient).
    You're using a literal hard coded statement, per your example? Use bind variables.
    Also, this forum is for tools that plug in to VS. Problems with ODP.NET code you've written would be more appropriate in the [ODP.NET forum|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=146], but that forum deals with problems with Oracle's ODP, not Microsofts (which is in maintenance mode by the way)
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • ITunes Match upload very slow only 64kb/s ?

    hello. why uploading music in iTunes match is so slow.

    In general network use the speed of a connection is only as fast as the many links between your hard drive and the hard drive on the server.  Try using a speed test utility (many web sites offer one) and see if it's something local to you, or if it is more remote.
    What kind of network connection do you have?  What speed?  I have a 136k connection so 64k for me isn't too bad, especially when my neighbors are all streaming wireless at night and interferring with my signal (I have wireless to my Internet service provider).

  • Oracle Discoverer very slow when switching page items

    Hi guys,
    I'm working on a report(Discoverer Plus) which returns some product information. Parameters are a product id or a product name.
    The report has three page items.(typically these would have between 3 and 10 entries in each).
    If I run the report for our busiest product id the report completes in about 5secs.
    If I then chose something from the page item the report can then take up to 20mins to complete, doesn't seem to matter what I pick.
    I notice that if I instead refresh the report and enter a product id with little data, change the page items there and then refresh and enter the the product id of our busiest product that the report will complete in about 5secss, returning the same data as the report that will take 20 mins.
    I am new to Discoverer and have discussed this with some colleagues but they are not sure, so I'm left scratching my head.
    So I'd appreciate any insight that peeps might have in to this.
    I would have thought that once I enter a product ID all data is returned from the DB and indexed for page items, I just can't see what Discoverer is doing for 20 odd mins.
    Yours confused!
    David

    Hi Rod,
    I had the Discovery admin check oem and he can see that when the page item is selected that the cpu is busy processing the data for the 15-20 mins, no additional call is made to the database.
    I installed Discovery Desktop today and the same report changes tabs almost instantaneously through it, so I'm left scratching my head.
    I do see occasional warnings about low heap memory on the AS but on Discovery Desktop with even a 15k memory cache the report only took a few seconds to switch pages.
    The admin has advised to raise an SR with Oracle but I'd be interested in any areas to check.

  • Oracle Applications very slow on target system after rapid clone

    Hi,
    I performed a clone from Production to test environment using rapidclone. My environment is 12.0.4 running on a Solaris platform.
    There were no errors reported in the log file while running adcfgclone.pl on both dbTier and appsTier. It competed successfully.
    But when I try to login to the application, it takes too long for the application/forms to launch.
    The performance is really bad.
    I have restarted the apps-tier and db-tier couple of times. Also ran autoconfig on both apps and db-tier node. Stil no luck.
    Has anyone encountered this issue before?
    Thanks!

    Forms were coming up very late and also was throwing error - adformsctl.sh: exiting with status 204
    Followed metalink note: 412980.1 to solve the issue.
    Brought down the apps-tier, deleted the files from the below specified location and restarted the apps-tier. Also ran auto-config
    rm -fr $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/oacore/persistence/*
    rm -fr $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/oafm/persistence/*
    rm -fr $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/forms/persistence/*
    Now application and forms are launching fine.

  • DSL Connection Very slow ONLY when using wireless router

    My DSL connection was running super slow (approx 136 Kbs) - I disconnected the Linksys wireless router and plugged by DSL modem directly into the computer.  Then my internet speed increased to 1.4 Mbs (a 10 fold increase).
    Any suggestions on how / why my speed drops so extensively when using the Linksys wireless routher (wrt45g).
    Thanks

    Are you using the same test each time to measure the speed?
    The reason I ask is that Windows usually reports its download speed in KB/sec (Kilobytes per second).  But most web (internet) speed tests report their speed in Mbps (Megabits per second.)
    A 1.4 Mbps line will typically pass data at about 140KB/sec.
    To help determine what kind of problem you are having, do the same speed test in 3 different ways:
    1)  Connect one computer, by wire, directly to your modem
    2)  Connect one computer, by wire, directly to your router  (all other computers and network devices should be off).
    3)  Connect one computer, wirelessly, to your router  (all other computers and network devices should be off).
    Report back your results, and also, please state what line speed you are paying for.  Once we have this, we will hopefully be able to help you.

    When on a youtube video, I can move the mouse around the buttons and it will take about 3 seconds for the mouse to travel between the buttons. The same happens on the BBC News website.
    All other flash videos seem to function correctly.
    Watching youtube/BBC news in IE works fine. Currently, FF is unusable for these websites.

    since version 11.3 adobe ships its flash plugin with the protected mode for firefox - ie and chrome get supplied with different versions of the plugin:

  • Mac suddenly became very slow on OS-X

    Problem description:
    Machine became suddenly very slow only on OS-X. Checked with Linux and works ok.
    Detailed description:
    On December 31th machine begun to behave abnormally slow.  Long waits between keystrokes and the character appearance on the screen and the coloured spinning wheel appeared very often. The machine appeared to hang from time to time, applications and internet were completely unresponssive.  I decided to make clean install of Yosemite using its recovery. The recovery took longer than 16  hours and after this the machine was in the same state as before. In order to debug the problem I decided to use a Linux distribution and I booted its live dvd. On Linux everything went smooth, all application and operations were responsive, no hiccups.
    I drove the conclusion that the issue is related either to the software in OS-X or there is some hidden state/settings on the machine that is causing the issue.
    It cannot be on the hard drive because I have repartitioned it and made a clean install so there must be something in the firmware.
    Problem description:
    Random hangs on the computer. Everything becomes unresponsive, spinning wheel appear every 3-4 seconds and keystrokes are echoed with a 4-5 seconds delay. I suspect that it is a software problem as it is happening only on OS-X as I have booted a live Linux distro and everything works ok hence I drove the conclusion that there might be something related to the system state in OS-X.

    Diagnostics Information: ℹ️
      Jan 5, 2015, 02:27:07 AM Self test - passed

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
    You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
    In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
    You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
    Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    ☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    ☞ Paste into the window of another application.
    ☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    ☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
    to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.37 - very slow printing

    Hello, i installed version 11.0.37 on windows server 2003  ( SP2 ) and my print performance is very slow ( only pdf files ) - previous a had Adobe Reader 9 and everything works fine. I use Citrix. Users are connected directly to the xenapp servers , and print performance is very slow ( takes 2 or more minuts until printing starts )

    Hi, yesterday i installed update 11.0.5....it did not help any other ideas ?

  • Spotlight indexing very slow after upgrading to 10.7.5

    SInce I have updating to 10.7.5, the spotlight indexing of my hard drive is very slow : only 40% has been performed in two days.
    Does anyone have similar problems after upgrading to 10.7.5 and know how to fix them ?
    Here are some excerpts of log files :
    mdworker(7618) deny file-write-create /opt/local/var/macports/home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.LaunchServices.plist .lockfile
    Process:         mdworker [7618]

    Identifier:      mdworker

    OS Version:      Mac OS X 10.7.5 (11G56)

    You're not the only one. I've been re-indexing on and off for the last four days to no avail. I had to call Apple today and was put through to a senior technical advisor. After doing a data capture for them I was told that they should be able to come back with an answer within the next two days.
    It's worth giving them a call to let them run through the clearing caches process with you if you haven't done that already. Remember that using your machine whilst it's indexing also slows the process down.
    I will let you know when they come back with an answer but I hope by t would hahen both of our machines would have finished re-indexing by then...

  • Spotify is very slow at the office

    Hi,Since a week Spotify is being very slow only at the office. I tested with the Mac Application and with the Web Player. Even the communities are very slow. Actually everything with the Spotify domain is slow. If I connect my computer over the 3G of my phone then everything is back to normal. Is it possible that my boss is slowing down Spotify with the firewall? If so, is there any way I can avoid this? Will connect Spotify through a proxy help? Similar services such as Deezer (sorry!) work fine but I'm a Spotify user since 2008 and I don't want to give it up just yet. I already asked my boss and his answer was a question: Did Spotify change anything in the API?

    The best way is to try VPNs as it bypasses some network clogs that might have caused slowdowns on your Spotify. The Company that provides the internet in your office might be different from the one providing you internet on your phone. If you use VPN and Spotify gets faster, it means something is just slowing you down. You may want to read this article as it might be a good example http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/07/18/want_to_beat_verizons_slow_netflix_get_a_vpn/ I just mentioned an example, I know nothing about Verizon and Netflix as I'm not from the US. Sorry for the bad english. Hope this helps!

    It is always a good idea to use the standard ports for a network application. There is no logic in obfuscating ports for security purposes. It also makes network management and dealing with quality of service issues for example, much more complex if you do not stick to the registered application ports.
    Also note that if you provide a dotted IP address, only that address will be used for binding the tcp port as a listening end point. This means no connections will be accepted on localhost and other IP addresses of that server. Make sure that this is what is technically required.
    ifconfig
    bond6     Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:26:55:D3:02:B6
    Why are you using bonding? How many bonded interfaces are there and now many physical NICs? Bond6 alludes that it is the 7th bonded interface - and at 2 NICs per bonded interface it implies that your server has 14 physical Ethernet interfaces. Which I doubt is true.
    RX packets:1309675596 errors:5 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:3Not good to see any errors. What does ethtool stats show? Also check that the physical interfaces are enabled for full duplex. Some Cisco switches do not negotiate it properly and the NIC could be running half duplex.
    Also - using bonding... does not seem right. The 1st and default bonded interface should be +/dev/bond0+ - and not bond6.
    Check the server's network configuration (the +ifcfg-*+ files in +/etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts+ directory).
