Oracle spool issues

I have a spooling problem. i would like to display header row only once. my select gives back 500 records, i need to display header row in pipe delimited file. the problem is that the spool file header is creating with only few columns. lets say table have 20 columns and spool file header is creating with only 10 column. I am getting values for all columns in spool files.
when I run select sql munually in toad I am seeing all column names are disply.
Do you have any idea how to solve to only show all column names in header at the beginning?
thanks in advance
i use the following sets
set pagesize 8000;
set heading on;
set verify off;
set trimspool on;
set feedback off;
set underline off;
set echo off;
set termout off;

I did in my earlier script.
set pagesize 99999999;
set heading on;
set verify off;
set linesize 32767;
set trimspool on;
set feedback off;
--set termout off;
set underline off;
set echo off;
set termout off;
col sys_date new_value curr_date;
select to_char(sysdate,'YYYYMMDDHH24MI')||'.txt' sys_date from dual;
spool C:\promo_rpt.txt;
select ezaID|| '|' || EMPLOYEEID|| '|' || WORLDID || '|' || WORLDNUMBER|| '|' || FIRSTNAME|| '|' || LASTNAME|| '|' || WORKPHONE|| '|' ||
EMAIL|| '|' || SUPERVISORVZID|| '|' || DELIGATEDSUPERVISORVZID|| '|' || EBSTATE|| '|' || EZIP|| '|' || CBA|| '|' || CCODE|| '|' || CNAME|| '|' || EXTIND|| '|' ||
INCREUNIT|| '|' || PAYGROUP|| '|' || TIMEZONE|| '|' || COSTCENTER|| '|' || ESTATUS|| '|' || EMBEGINDATE|| '|' || EENDDATE|| '|' ||
TPAYPERIOD|| '|' || TPAYPERIOD|| '|' || TENABLED from twotwo;
spool off;
exit;
my spool file out is
EZAID||'|'||EMPLOYEEID||'|'||WORLDID||'|'||WORLDNUMBER||'|'||FIRSTNAME||'|'||LASTNAME||'|'||WORKPHONE||'|'||EMAIL||'|'||SUPERVISORVZID||'|'||DELIGATEDSUPERVISORVZID||'|'||EBSTATE||'|'||EBZIP
333|dfdfd|rtrtr|||||||fsdfsdf||dfdfd|||fdfddfdfd|dfd||||||||||
The spool file is created with header from EZAID to EBZIP only. I am not able to see the column names from CBA to TENABLED in spool file.

    Please guide me regarding this issue.

    Best regards,

    Are you sure that it is not an application constraint ? i.e. the application can't handle so much data per second ? (application locks, threads )
    Have you tried to write a simple test program, which inserts predefined data (which your application inserts) the same data, only changing keys ?
    Then comparing the values from the 1st and the 2nd configuration ?
    Did you check the way your application is communicating with oracle ? If it is TCP/ip (even on the local machine) then this is your main problem.
    And one more thing, do you know if your application is able to run the load (inserts) of data on different threads (i.e. in parallel), because if is not, you won't be able to push the speed higher because your constraint is the speed of a single CPU. Consider running several process, which loads the data.
    We had the same problem ot AIX machines with 4 cpus. Monitoring the machine, we found that only 25% (1 cpu) where in use. We had to run 4 processes to push the speed up. Check your system's overal load while running the 'load' (inserts).
    log_checkpoint_interval = 10000
    Check if this value is appropriate. Maybe you should set it to 0 (infinite). This will disable checkpoints on a 'number of undo record' basis. Checpoints will occure only on log switch.
    How much redo files per redo groups do you have ? What is their size ? Are they on different disks ? How much redo data is generated by a single 'record' inserted ?
    Hope i helped at least a little.

    I am not sure of OJDBC jar file version .we have either OJDBC5 or OJDBC6 jar deployed in SAP MII.
    The oracle database version that we are connecting in the data server is Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit
    My questions  are
    After the server process shutdown and recovered , While  all other connectors  working fine why oracle connectors have problems?
    Is it due to oracle driver issue? or any other issue related to Netweaver.
    Please help.

    for item #1...If you add the line "gal_enableldapsearch = FALSE" to the "[ENG]" section of the calendar server configuration file, it will only put calendar users in the GAL and not all Internet Directory users.

  • Remove extra blank rows in ORACLE SPOOLING

    I am trying to spool a table result to a .dat file.
    The problem is the output spool file has 3 rows after each row with a column having its row data split as 3 for every enter key in the data.

    A B C
    1 1 ABC DEF GH
    2 1 DEF GHI JK
    SPOOL FILE O/P
    A | B | C |

  • Oracle vulnerability issue and JavaScript.

    I started a discussion in the Muse forum, and also want to ask the question here, regarding the disabling of JavaScript in browsers.  That thread is: forums.adobe.com/thread/1140485.  My basic question is this:  is there a work around, like adding code to HTML editor, as a result of issues associated with disabling of JavaScript in browser.  For example, widget and google maps in website are broke when disabling of JavaSript in browser.  This is an issue resulting from the Oracle vulnerability issue a few weeks back, where the Department of Homeland Security is recommending the disabling of js in browsers to prevent the rootkit infection on machines.  Want is the answer to this issue.  I don't mind learning code, if needed, to put in HTML editor.  I just need to know what i need to do or learn.  Not everybody is going to disable Java or remove it from their machines, but many folks are and have--that is those aware of the issue.  Or is the whole issue just a big bogeyman?

    Yes, thank you kenneth_rapp.  Note another response in Muse forum and my reply to basically this same question, which produced the same answer.  You'll note, where my confusion began.  See that discussion in muse forum http://forums.adobe.com/message/5017525#5017525http://  provided by member:  topelovely.  Again, thanks for the response.  It caused me to further read and understand the differences.

    create or replace package dump_refcursor_test is
    type return_cur is ref cursor;
    function get_data return return_cur;
    end dump_refcursor_test;
    create or replace package body dump_refcursor_test is
    function get_data return return_cur
    is
    l_cur return_cur;
    begin
    open l_cur for select 'qwerty' from dual;
    return l_cur;
    end get_data;
    end dump_refcursor_test;
    Create a file called spool.sql put it in c:\. Put his in the file:
    SET NEWPAGE 0
    SET SPACE 0
    SET LINESIZE 80
    SET PAGESIZE 0
    SET ECHO OFF
    SET FEEDBACK OFF
    SET HEADING OFF
    SET MARKUP HTML OFF SPOOL OFF
    set sqlprompt "".
    var res refcursor;
    exec :res:= dump_refcursor_test.get_data;
    spool c:\spool_output
    print res
    spool off
    Now go to sql*plus and type this:
    @c:\spool.sql
    This will give you a file with only the data, here "qwerty"

  • Oracle Spool Fixed Width

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to spool records from my Oracle table into a fixed width text file. As you'll see below, I'm using the RPAD function to set the maximum width for my columns but for some reason the spool doesn't recognize the RPAD function and just uses some other arbitrary fixed width. Here's the code that I'm using:
    Spool on
    SET PAGESIZE 0
    SET LINESIZE 1000
    set feedback off
    set echo off
    set termout off
    Spool "C:\spool_test.txt"
    select
    rpad(EDC_PREVALENCE_TIME_CATEGORY,30) as EDC_PREVALENCE_TIME_CATEGORY,
    rpad(CRG_METHOD_TYPE,55) as CRG_METHOD_TYPE,
    rpad(EDC_AGG_CD,10) as EDC_AGG_CD,
    rpad(EDC_AGG_DESC,100) as EDC_AGG_DESC,
    rpad(PHN,9) as phn
    from table1
    where rownum <=1000;
    Spool off;Another thing I am trying to do is add the column headings as the first row. I used to have "Set Heading On" at the top of my spool but that didn't seem to work either. I've figured out how to find a workaround to that but if anyone has suggestions I would appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Ed

    You seem to be using SQL*Plus, which puts a separator (by default, a single space) between columns.
    If you don't want a separator, issue this command
    SET  COLSEP  ""along with your other SET commands, before running the query.
    That's 2 double-quotes in a row, with nothing in between them.
    select
    rpad(EDC_PREVALENCE_TIME_CATEGORY,30) as EDC_PREVALENCE_TIME_CATEGORY,
    rpad(CRG_METHOD_TYPE,55) as CRG_METHOD_TYPE,
    rpad(EDC_AGG_CD,10) as EDC_AGG_CD,
    rpad(EDC_AGG_DESC,100) as EDC_AGG_DESC,
    rpad(PHN,9) as phn
    from table1
    where rownum <=1000;
    Spool off;That works for me; I get fixed-length columns exactly as expected.
    Whenever you have a question, post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for a little sample data. Point out where your query is not getting the results you want, and explain how you get the right results in those places.
    See the forum FAQ {message:id=9360002}
    Another thing I am trying to do is add the column headings as the first row. I used to have "Set Heading On" at the top of my spool but that didn't seem to work either. I've figured out how to find a workaround to that but if anyone has suggestions I would appreciate it.
    SET  PAGESIZE  0means no headers will be displayed, regardless of the setting for SET HEADING.
    Depending on your version of SQL*Plus, you can set PAGESIZE as high as 50000, so unless you have more than 50000 lines of output, you would only get 1 heading line.
    I would use a PROMPT command right before the query:
    Spool "C:\spool_test.txt"
    PROMPT  EDC_PREVALENCE_TIME_CATEGORY  CRG_METHOD_TYPE ...
    select
    rpad(EDC_PREVALENCE_TIME_CATEGORY,30) as EDC_PREVALENCE_TIME_CATEGORY,
    rpad(CRG_METHOD_TYPE,55) as CRG_METHOD_TYPE,
    ...Put exactly as many spaces as you need between the column names.
    Alternatively, you could do a query from dual to produce the "headings":
    Spool "C:\spool_test.txt"
    SELECT  RPAD ('EDC_PREVALENCE_TIME_CATEGORY', 30)
    ,       RPAD (CRG_METHOD_TYPE, 55)
    FROM    dual;
    select
    rpad(EDC_PREVALENCE_TIME_CATEGORY,30) as EDC_PREVALENCE_TIME_CATEGORY,
    rpad(CRG_METHOD_TYPE,55) as CRG_METHOD_TYPE,
    ...Notice I didn't use column aliases. Column headings are not being displayed, so it doesn't matter if the columns have nice concise aliases or not.

  • Paging in SPOOL Issue!

    Hi,
    I don't want to make any paging in the spool file but I am always getting a new page after ~65 lines, below my setting:
    set verify off
    set linesize 3000
    set pagesize 6000000
    set trimspool on
    spool /m/home/omc/aa.txt
    select * from KPI order by PST;
    spool off
    It's under HP-UNIX with Oracle 9i, is there any idea about this issue?
    Notice that I did the same under my machine (Windows + Oracle 10g) and everything goes fine (no paging was in the output spool file)!
    Thanks in advance

    OK, I am entering invalid "pagesize" number. But is there a way that I could disable paging in the output spool file; cause the output of the spool file might be more than 50000 row. I tried to set the "pagesize" to zero, OK it will disable the paging but it's also disable the column heading.
    Is there a workaround solution?
    Thanks...

    Hi,
    As far as I can find on Google, I only see people solving a similar problem, by totally removing all Java installation and then install the latest Java 6 update.
    Have a look e.g. here: http://www.java-forums.org/awt-swing/34794-java-application-fails-launch-without-error.html
    It is not about installing oracle, but the person does have similar problems
    Success!!

  • Printer spool issue with HP LaserJet 1018

    I seem to be having a recurring problem with the HP LaserJet 1018 that I am hoping someone has also had and can help me resolve.  When I go to print I get a message that I need to set up a printer (it does not recognize the printer is there).  When I click on set up a new printer, I receive a message that the local print spooler service is not running.  Nothing I do seems to solve the problem.
    This happened to me with my previous 1018 printer.  The exact same thing.  I had a second 1018 available to me that I connected and it worked just fine for about two months and now is doing the same thing as the first.
    I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC with Windows 7 (64 bit) operating system.  I previously had a Dell with Windows XP that the first printer worked on for a long time (maybe 2+ years).  I got this new computer within the past six months and both these printers stopped working while on this computer.
    Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
