Oracle (SQL) to File Interface

I am trying to export data from Oracle to Flat file. I have defined both models which include the datastores and I have used them in the interface.
What LKM should I use? I don't want to load data in a different staging area. Also, I can't use IKM SQL to File Append (it doesn't show in the Flow window)
2) I know there is another option (ODISQLUnload) but I think it's better to export / import via text file when dealing with large volume of data.

Indeed. I had to select the staging area as different from target. First I got confused because I don't want to move data around to waste time.
However, running the interface I got an error. The file is on local system (W32). I can't figure out why it returned this error since I am able to read/write to the target folder.

SQL to FILE interface with column headers

Hi All,
I have designed an interface to extract the data from Oracle to flat file (.txt file ) .
1) I am getting the column headers in the output file(. txt file) but I don't want to see any column headers
2) While creating the data source in data Model If I give any column type as date I am getting null value in the output file, but If I give column type as string for date filed I am able to see the data in output file.

You can to the flow properties and set GENERATE_HEADER = flase.

I do not think you can use a Date Datatype while loading into flat file. You can go with string or number/integer (if date does not have any special characters. You can use a conversion function here to convert existing Date datatype as per your requirements , but make sure you select " on source or on staging")

Oracle SQL Developer - File, Open , File Name Not Accept UNC Path Form

In Oracle SQL Developer, at least the File, Open (Dialog's), the File Name (if not all File / Directory Name) Text Box(es) is (are) not accepting, at least for me, the UNC Path Form of Folders on Network Servers. The same UNC Path (or UNC Paths in general) works in the File / Directory Name Text Box of every other Windows App I've tried (from Windows 95 to Windows 7). Is there a way to do this? If not, was it intentional and where can I suggest this as a fix / enhancement?
I'm using Windows XP w/ SP3.

DUH! I figured out what happened. In my first search, I searched (using "Actions", "Filter", "Column" option) for "Title Contains 'UNC'" which didn't find anything because the single-quotes were considered literals (which isn't consistent with the "Row" option or with the technical SQL syntax one would expect given technical operators like "!=", pffft, "!="??? Really???). Then, all subsequent searches returned nothing, because all previous searches are combined with implied "And" Operators until you select "Actions", "Reset" (which isn't consistent with any Web / Desktop App search feature I've ever seen). Don't get me wrong. The latter is a great feature. It just needs to be documented better.
It probably wouldn't hurt to: a) include easily visible tips on whether single / double quotes are needed and b) show an "And" Operator in front of each previous search listed so people won't mistake it for simply a Search Criteria History vs. Current Search Criteria, oh and add a heading that labels it as, oh, IDK, "Current Search Criteria", maybe? IDK, call me crazy (or just another stupid user posing as a developer with 16 years experience ;).

Oracle.sql.BLOB

I am trying to extract a file name and its data from the database. The file data is stored as HUGEBLOB in the table. The file contains data which I found by downloading it directly from table using TOAD. However when I try to fetch the data throughh Java code :
Blob file = rs.getBlob("file_data");
I am getting null pointer in the next line which is:
InputStream inputStream = ((oracle.sql.BLOB)file).getBinaryStream();
Can anyone suggest why it is giving null exception and what is the solution to it.

Oracle SQL Developer error - "The file-based source procedure Name is not present in the database."

I recently started working on the Oracle SQL developer. I have 'select' privileges on the QA schema and when tried to execute proc in QA. It is giving the error as 'The file-based source <procedure Name> is not present in the database. Was it compiled?'
instead 'you do not have sufficient privileges to execute this procedure'. Did research on internet but with no luck.What configuration changes needed to be done to make it work.Guide me.

Sounds like you do not have the correct privileges. What should have been granted to you by the QA user, or some other user with appropriate privileges, is...
grant EXECUTE on "QA"."<PROCEDURE_OF_INTEREST>" to "<YOUR_USERID>" ;
Note that a grant of execute on a procedure has nothing to do with grants of select on some or all of QA's tables and views.
So, as Vadim suggests, from your connection node in SQL Developer's Connections view, if you expand the Other Users node, then expand QA and look in the Procedures node, do you see the procedure of interest? If not, you cannot expect to be able to execute it from your userid's connection. And even if you do see it, you may have some other privilege that permits viewing but not executing, like...
The role SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE
The system privilege SELECT ANY DICTIONARY
And even if you do not see it there, then having certain other privileges granted to you could permit executing it in general, like...
The role EXECUTE_CATALOG_ROLE
The system privilege EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE
Also, note that the 3.0 release is a bit dated nowadays. Upgrading to 4.0.3 production or even the 4.1 EA2 (early adopter) release will, in general, give you a better experience.

That MS Access driver is 64-bit, I think. If SQL Developer, or JDK is 32-bit you need to use the 32-bit driver.   You can see if you have a 32-bit driver installed using c:\windows\system32\odbcadm32.exe

Example, i have 100 insert SQL inside a text file,

Hello Everybody,
I have recently come across a requirement in which I am supposed to send mails with csv file as an attachment through oracle(SQL SCripts / Stored Procedure) .
The contents of the csv file are to be retreived from the Database as well as the content of the mail and to whom it needs to be sent has also to be picked up from the database.
Can somebody suggest me with a suitable code for the same?

Running/Compiling *.java file in Oracle Sql Developer

I want to compile/run java 5.0 files in Oracle sql developer1.1.2.25 on Fedora 5 platform.
I have added javac as an enternal tool to compile java programs. Tools-->External Tools-->New
I have also added java: /usr/java/jre1.5.0_10/bin/java as an external tool to run the complied programs
I am able to compile the java programs, but i am not able to run them.
I am providing ${file.name.no.ext} as an argument to java.
Java-Log Output is:
/usr/java/jre1.5.0_10/bin/java Writer2
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Writer2
However, if i run the same program in Linux terminal, i get the correct output:
[root@localhost java]# which java
/usr/java/jre1.5.0_10/bin/java
[root@localhost java]# /usr/java/jre1.5.0_10/bin/java Writer2

You do not.
.dmp files are created from our Export and Data Pump database utilities and are proprietary files. You use the corresponding Import (or Data Pump) utility to import the data.

Extract Siebel Tools sse_data.dbf file into Oracle Sql Developer.

Hi,
There's a tool named dbisqlc.exe which comes with default Siebel Tools installation. You can execute DML statements by using this tools. Actually dbisqlc.exe and sqldeveloper are both client tools for executing SQL statements.
What do you want to do by exporting the local dbf? Can you please explain your requirement?

ODI 10g R2 LKM File to Oracle (sql*ldr) ctl file

I need to load a file into an oracle db. For big file I use the LKM file to oracle (sql loader). It is a delimited file with ' " ' enclosed text. I give in the datasotre all parameters record separator, field separator, text delimiter, decimal separator. Despite in the control file for sql*ldr it miss the line [optionnaly enclosed '"' ] so in my db it is loading "nn" instead of nn ...
Do someone know this issue ?!

It would be best to you look in to the LKM code to see if its even there "optionally enclosed by"
This is an old version of ODI and its quite possible that the support for this clause was not added to the step that builds the ctl file.
If its not there, then you can add it your self.

Oracle Express 10g - a way to terminate in SQL Command Line interface

I've downloaded Oracle Express 10g and use the SQL Command Line interface to execute SQL*Plus -- a really simple window / interface without hardly any smarts. In other Oracle installations' SQL*Plus, I'm used to be able to do a Ctrl C to terminate the current SQL that's being executed and the session is still active and I can keep using it. But with the Oracle Express 10g SQL Command Line interface, when I do a Ctrl C the currrent SQL is terminated -- but so is the whole dang session and the window goes away too. There must be a way in the Oracle Express 10g SQL Command Line interface to simply terminate th current SQL results without losing the whole dang session!!! This is so incredibly frustrating it's not even funny. HELP!!!!
